weather forecast for eclipse day isn't great but I've been having fun painting (second attempt at plein air) and learning my way around a modern digital telescope that real astronomers badmouth bc it has a GOTO function for navigation and image stacking to enhance the view the longer it locks onto and tracks an object...

this galaxy is a little fuzzy, but any hint of structure is very good for a portable telescope; the photos you see on NASA and astronomy websites are usually taken by telescopes measured in meters and housed in domes, not tubes small enough to fit a backpack an arthritic slightly overgrown hobbit can lug around
