not to be dramatic, but I think Josh Barnett singlehandedly saved the fandoms perception of Race
#like maybe some of it is just the way a fandom matures as time goes on#and it's no longer a fandom consisting mainly of 12-15 year olds who watched the live version on Netflix#and woobified race just because he was played by ben cook who was considered very attractive and was the goofy side character#and im saying that as someone who was one of those young teenagers#but race has a complexity now that he didn't really have in the fandom then#he's interpreted as meaner and more cynical beyond just a soft facade and I Love It#And obviously a large part has to do with how Josh plays him and how his portrayal is only shared by word of mouth of the people who actuall#could go see the uk version since theres no professional recording of any kind#but even still#the beginnings of a crueler character are there in Ben cooks performance in the exact dialogue i just think josh took that to the next level#idk its nice#racetrack higgins#i love the kind of amalgamation of 92sies livsies and uksies race that has emerged
