i was performing with a bunch of people a couple weeks ago and every morning a whole crowd of us would get on the same bus to get to rehearsal in the morning. and the bus was generally already rather full when it got our stop but a couple stops after that it got really crowded. and of all the 15-20 of us taking this bus, over the course of a week, i got up 3 times (once for a lady with a very new baby and twice for elderly people, one of whom was using a cane) and the rest of my crowd got up 0 times. for anyone. for any reason. i was the only physically disabled person there and i was also the only one willing to give my seat to someone who needed it more. and they were all so taken aback and grateful! it was awful.

once one of my crowd told me "you know you don't have to do that right" and yes, actually, i do?? i know exactly how awful it is to be disabled and in pain and have nobody willing to do the absolute bare minimum to help you. its not like she was willing to get up!
