WIP Wednesday
thanks for tagging me @cutestkilla @martsonmars @palimpsessed @forabeatofadrum @facewithoutheart @prettylightsbigcity @angelsfalling16 @ivelovedhimthroughworse
i have started writing my @co-wipadoption fic! whoop whoop. but i don’t want to share it yet, because i haven’t written much and even though i think it will be obvious where the switch happens, i dont want to draw attention to that. so i thought i’d just share what’s coming soon from me....
for @co-wipadoption
as destiny would have it, i’m writing the rest of @facewithoutheart‘s watford-era amnesia fic - the match up that started it all. baz doesn’t remember he hates simon. the bit before i showed up is vv good. the bit after that is still largely unwritten, but i have a plan. i think my part will be good too ;)
meanwhile @forabeatofadrum is writing the rest of my penny-agatha!! we had a nice chat about it today and agatha, and her journey in canon and how it will be reflected here.
and @facewithoutheart (yes, we swapped) is writing a huddling for warmth fic i made out of a deleted scene from a completely different fic - vv excited for this, as it’s a fav trope that i let down by not including it.
the amazing thing about this fest is that i’ll get three new fics added to my AO3 (presumably?) but i only actually have to write one.
for @carryon-reverse-bang
i got very excited and took two concepts - both of which i am vv keen to write, and only slightly afraid of re the deadline.
firstly, i’ll be writing some watford-era!baz hanahaki for @technetiumai‘s lovely floral art - this trope is perfect for baz, and there are some lovely fics for the trope already, including Everything's Coming Up Roses by @annabellelux and Rain Will Make The Flowers by fel24601 i’m looking forward to writing this trope :)
secondly - the brilliant @asticou and i are talking about ideas for a post!watford friends-to-lovers fake fiancé fic. this one is by definition going to be much longer and more involved than the others - but is very very up my street (shocking, i know). i will probably only get a chapter or so done before the end of May, but i think reverse bang doesn’t require everything to be done. but.... will see how we go.
very excited about all of these things :)
if i tagged you in this post, you are also tagged for WIP wednesday should you wish it.

White & Yellow Flowers~
Starting with Advent Children, the flowers in Aerith’s church or in any field became yellow & white.
Yellow & White...
Yellow & White...
Yellow & White...
Yellow & White...like, seriously, there’s far too many yellow & white flowers in FF7R.
If you give three of the same type of flower to the orphanage in FF7 Remake, you get a different picture on the wall.
Three yellow flowers makes a Chocobo. Yellow flowers symbolize “Reunion”.
Three white flowers makes a Moogle. White flowers symbolize “Loyalty”. Notice the use of stars. This means that Cloud is loyal to a...moogle?
Three foxtails makes a Cactuar. Foxtails represent “Surprise”, because that’s what Aerith says when Cloud starts picking them...I mean, they’re grass. Imagine being given a basket full of GRASS when you expected flowers, wouldn’t that be surprising!? Cactuar appears with the Tonberry in the orphanage chalkboard, so it can’t be a good symbol (or character, because the Tonberry is obviously Sephiroth).
Cloud represents the chocobo, let’s leave it at that.
If white flowers represent Moogles, then we should have a hint in Advent Children about that? We do! There’s “Moogle Girl”, who carries her brother’s stuffed moogle all over. Are moogles important in FF7′s world? I can hardly say that, so their appearance is a bit strange...rather forced.
Oh yes, the most ignored character in Advent Children! Her hairstyle is actually that of the girls from FF6, although her bangs are more...bangy, and quite a lot of other characters in FF have them (Eiko, Sherlotta, Lilisette, Deuce, Shelke, etc). These characters represent story elements cut from Terra in the original FF6.
Since Terra’s story in Mobliz is basically the story of Advent Children (she’s even given Fenrir’s magicite there), what’s not to say this isn’t some sort of “ancient ruse” to give hints about Terra in just about every game Cloud appears in? I mean, isn’t his story Terra’s story too? That’s something we all know! I literally found it in Wikipedia once!
“Moogle Girl” appears in FF7 Remake. She’s the girl with three white moogles cats who gives Cloud a “Maiden’s Kiss” for finding them way before it’s ever needed! She represents Terra because she does Terra’s signature pose...
You see? Flawless Evidence. Factuality.
Honestly, how many female characters obsess about moogles? Eiko? Serah? They’re all designed after Terra! There’s a cutscene in DFFOO where Terra hugs moogles around 4 times, and there’s only two moogles in the scene!
Take a look at this wagon in Crisis Core, it has a moogle drawn on it for some reason (bottom-right corner)!
This is the wagon where Zack explains to a lady that he and Aerith share a dream to fill Midgar w/ flowers.
No different from what happens an year later...it’s almost like these characters are mirror images or something.
“If there’s no Aerith, then it’s Tifa” is the wrong way of seeing this. Fandom Fantasy VII is stubborn. They could literally claim she’s Cloud official love interest in some random game and it’ll be completely ignored because it wasn’t in the “FF7 Compilation”.
They could literally put her in FF7R and I bet there’ll still be people who can’t accept it because “she’s an FF6 character”, or “she appears with Zack in some alternate timeline, so it doesn’t matter”, or “she’s a third-party”.
I said that the chocobo represents Cloud. That’s because in the “Inside FF7R” interviews, the chocobo is replaced by Cloud while he sits with the moogle, cactuar, and tonberry.
Actually, he sits by the moogle all the time. You telling me that Moogle doesn’t represent someone we know? FF7 is deficit of living moogles, so they’re literally aliens, like Jenova, who’s probably based on Terra too. The more you know...
Get the hint.

⚠️ I am not looking for an argument. I would like to state that before you read on, as this is regarding today’s MTFL chapter. I have tried my hardest to state my feelings, and thoughts in the most level way possible to avoid offending anyone or causing anger. I do not mean anything with malicious intent. ⚠️
(Also, sorry for any typos. I’ve read this through 3 times and think I’ve gotten them all but if not, sorry about those.)
I love Ava. I love Ava stans.
I love that Ava threw Noah and Mason out of the party and mc DIDN’T chase them. (Massive improvement)
But I personally feel that we should have only automatically kissed Ava, if we had romanced her at any point because we said “fuck it. I want to romance this girl.” And spent a few diamonds.
Ava stans finally got what they deserved.
I’m not making this post because I’m “uncomfortable” or “raging that I didn’t get to kiss one of the boys”
No. They’re asses needed to go home and they need to think about their fucking actions. Noah needs to just spit out, whatever tf it is he has to say at this point because the tension surrounding this issue is just tiring now.
But “forcing”/forcing a straight male/female, in any book and/or scenario, to kiss, bangy bang wham wham, whatever, with the same sex is just as wrong as making a member of the LGBTQ+ community be straight in a game. It’s just not to be done. For both sides in all the same levels, IT IS WRONG.
And yes, you can argue that point of “Mason and Noah have been forced the whole book so far.” and I will wholeheartedly agree with you, Ava has deserved so so SO much more. But I just feel like mc shouting “I love you” or “I’m in love with you” as though she’s definitively decided she’s gay too and no longer likes boys is... wrong? I feel like that dialogue could have been worded differently. Something to the effect of “I have feelings for you!” something like that.
I want to make it clear that I did not want mc to chase after and kiss one of the boys, freely. That could have been a diamond option this chapter. Bc the boys are not as paywalled as Ava is regarding romance options. They are nowhere near.
But back to my point, I feel like shouting that, when ultimately some of us are going to turn around and go with a boy... *inhales sharply* I feel off about that. Shouting “I love you” at someone and then turning round and loving someone else potentially the next day or a few days after. Yikes.
It doesn’t sit right with me. It feels like we’re leading her on and setting her up for heartbreak. “I love you” or “I’m in love with you” are powerful words to say, and are not to be said lightly or with jest, towards someone you have potential serious feelings for or you know they may/do have serious feelings for you.
Edit: I guess we do have to keep in mind that Choices, even though a popular game, is still a smaller business. It’s not some massive corporation with a massive HQ and an endless pit of money just yet. That doesn’t however, excuse all these little mistakes they make. But what needs to happen, instead of jumping on socials straight away and typing out of anger, we need to breathe, think though what point/message we would like to get across, and then kindly give constructive criticism or say “hey I didn’t like this about today’s chapter. It’s not realistic (or whatever you wish to say), maybe next time you could try (insert solution here).

Okay I'm sorry for asking so much, some of the stuff I got into writing about is a little new to me, and I want to be sure I'm doing in right. Here's the question: what's the best way to carry out a fight in a book. Specifically a gun and explosives fight. I can draw it out no problem, it's just harder to write.
Ask away! There’s nothing to worry about. A writer who never asks any questions probably isn’t a very good writer.
Anyway. Fights often very difficult to write. They are fast paced, action heavy, and require an understanding of things such as weaponry and strategy and such.
First things first, get an understanding of your weapons, setting, and other tools that are going to play a part in the fight. You want to understand any possible limits that you might have in a scene in order to understand what would be a realistic result of each action. Plus, researching weapons, injuries, and other fight-related factors can actually help to inspire you to different outcomes or events within the fight.
Once you have that basic foundation, you can start to write the actual fight. For this, I actually have a few methods I can refer you to that can apply.
First, in this post I talked about the “action, emotion, reaction” structure. You’ll probably want to read the post in its entirety, but it is basically what it sounds like: when Character A commits and action, Character B then must react emotionally, and then react physically. Character B’s physical reaction then becomes the starting action for Character A, who then in turn reacts emotionally and physically, etc. That post goes more in depth about what that looks like, gives examples, and a few exceptions, etc.
Second, this post in which I talked about making sports scenes more exciting has tips that can also help with a fight scene. 1. “Show, Don’t Tell”, 2. “Keep Characters in Mind,” 3. “Remember the Stakes” and 4. “Keep Up the Conflict.” All are explained more in depth on the other post, and can apply just as easily to fighting as sports.
Next, let’s point out a few key things about guns and explosives. In the case of these particular weapons, it’s important to understand what they are, and what they can do. You don’t necessarily need to define every single weapon in your story or even use real gun models. But you should set up some parameters even within your own world. What kinds of explosives exist? How big are they? Do they release gas, fire, shrapnel, etc? Are there timed detonators? What kinds of guns exist? How big are they? How many bullets can each one hold? Are there any that are automatic or semiautomatic? All of these details and more factor not only into the fight but also the worldbuilding as a whole.
You’re also going to want to study up on the kinds of injuries that can be sustained from guns and explosives. One common thing I see is characters being shot or “grazed” and still acting mostly normal, or just a little “pained” until they can get medical attention and be dramatic properly. It’s often very inaccurate.
“Bang Bang Bangy Bang”
and @scriptmedic are some good resources to check out.
Finally, it’s interesting that you mentioned that you can draw it out. You can use that to help yourself. If it helps you to visualize the scene, then by all means, draw it out first, and describe what you are seeing! You’re still going to want to fancy it up with descriptive words and emotional reactions, but having a clear visual is a great start already.
Check out those resources, and I hope this helps~!

Best Father’s Day Movie To Watch With Your Father
Given that Father’s Day is on its way, it is time to hand your dad the remote. After surveying various individuals, it seems like just about all fathers has one thing in common: that they like to watch the same kinds of movies. You may refer to these as “Father’s Day Movie.” The best Father’s Day Movies differ in quality. Many of them are underdog sports stories. And yes, many of them star Tom Hanks, who has truly been called “America’s Dad” previously.
It is father’s day so Happy Father’s Day to all you Fathers. As its father’s day what better time than to take a look at movies about fathers you all should enjoy with the family patriarch. So here are a few Father’s Day Movies that cross the genres and may easily appeal to most parents. I’ve deliberately chosen films which are in entirely different genres, so hopefully, you’ll see something, think of your father, and watch it with him.
Godfather
It is a pretty easy option since the Godfather is a classic and shows the force and dysfunction of a big mob run family which dominates the criminal underworld. As with every good gangster flicks tragedy unfolds ultimately and we all learn the lesson crime doesn’t pay however it is an excellent film regarding a strong father that won many deserving awards.
Father Of the Bride
I’m willing to admit that I enjoyed this movie quite a lot. I remember seeing it when I was young and also laughing and also feeling all warm and fuzzy as hands off his daughter to be married and exactly what can, does get it wrong. It’s among those films that you simply can’t help to watch and enjoy along with your whole family.
The Shining
This one obviously isn’t for the youngsters because it is extremely a great look at a father who goes off the tracks. That said it is an excellent film and since I’m trying to cover a few genres with this piece, it’s worth talking about for you thriller/horror fans. The film is well written, although provoking and filled with twists and turns.
Jack Nicholson delivers in this movie like a deranged father who’s out to get his wife and son and should fight his inner devils.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
I learned a fascinating fact the other day watching a documentary. The book was based on was written by Ian Fleming who wrote the James Bond books. Discuss strangely. The writer wrote Bond, and it was himself a former MI6 agent after which wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He watches it along with his mom all the time and even though it’s, of course, a bit to the musical for my liking people who have a fun, spirited, musical film with a lot of fun characters will love this one for father’s day.
National Lampoons Vegas Vacation
Truly you can list the Chevy Chase Vacation movies because they are all fun, light-hearted and entertaining. This is obviously assuming you’re a fan of Chevy Chase because I am. The movies are a bit mature in the humor, so it is not a family fun flick per say however it is fun, warm and bumbling and also highly entertaining.
“Animal House”
This might be the dirtiest movie your father will tolerate. Individually, my father owned “Animal House” on Betamax, and viewed it so often that he can continue to recite all the lines. Consider it the “Old School” of the father’s generation. This movie may have reflected your father’s college years. However you will also hope this didn’t.
“Air Force One”
Indiana Jones and also Han Solo are cool parent icons, even when neither were especially good dads. In his films, he is always trying to save his family. And what’s much better than hearing Harrison Ford, playing the president, shouting “get off my plane!” as he tries to save his family?
“Die Hard”
People like to call “Die Hard” the very best Christmas movie of all time – the holiday works as a backdrop for the 1980s classic. However, it is even more than that. Apart from being among the best action films of them all, it’s also an ideal Father’s Day movie.
“Clark Griswold” takes his family to the Vegas for the vacation as well as between site seeing at the wrong places, his wife being seduced and the crazy brother which makes them all radioactive it’s a great movie with a lot of fun and worth watching.
