I'm starting to see ppl talk abt updating their artfight pages and at first I was like what why it's still months away and then it hit me that by months it was two months and now I'm just silently sweating as my anual side project to remake the eternal gales refs and give them all icons comes back to haunt me
#rat rambles#oc posting#well I mean the good news is that all the staliens are already done and Ive already started on the human kids#the bad news is that theres still 5 more refs for me to remake and 9 icons if I decide to commit to that#the only one Ill probably force myself to do is sprinkles since shes the only stalien that doesnt have one and I dont want to leave her out#the human kids might just not get them tho especially since theres other characters Id like to make refs and icons for too#not as many newbies to the field this year which is a good thing since I do not have a lot of space left for new characters lol#Im probably going to take it easy this year in terms of my goals for artfight since last year I crashed and burned Hard#hopefully Ill have the time and motivation to draw a decent amount but if I dont Ill try not to be too broken up about it#especially since Ill probably burn myself out a bit doing the last minute ref rush lol#its not necessary especially since all the guys who needed the new refs most got theirs but Id like for them to be on the same page#I also went ahead and cleaned up my page a lil bit to make my life easier in the future#I should probably update bios and stuff but I dont feel like it Im too tired#tomorrow Im definitely going to need to clean some more as I have been for nearly every day#I mean guess thats why Im here in part#last week of pet sitting tho so soon Ill be back home again#Im not sure if Im excited or dreading it cause while I miss my family I also have been rly enjoying a house to myself#like its not necessary easy to do all the chores and stuff but it's a lot easier to do said chores when Im alone#and Ive actually been waking up at reasonable times too like not having my mom floating around is doing wonders#its almost making me rethink my insistence that I couldnt live alone but I definitely think itd get to me in the long term I need people#I just wish there was a better middleground since having people constantly in the house stresses me out so bad#it leads to me hiding out all day in my room and that's just not good for me#but its not like I could live by myself even if I wanted to#at this rate I dont think Ill ever move out but lets not think abt how much worse that could be for me thats future me's problem

i know it doesnt matter (tm) but its absolutely unbelievable how since the trailer dropped mostly everyone agreed about how bdsp didnt look worth the $60 like bad graphics and style all around and blatant nostalgia bait just to meet the remake quota for pokemon games but then on launch day everyone went ahead and bought it anyway
like more than half of my sphere of the internet on here and twitter just were completely offline that day just to play the New Pokemon Game that they bought on launch day for $60 and i just feel like why bother pointing out how bad these games look why bother talking about how no games lately have been worth $60 why bother even sharing refs for how to emulate games for free or homebrew a system to play any game you want for free or sharing anything about how games here forward are just not going to be worth it because everyone is just gonna have their laugh about how shitty the game is but still buy it anyway
like yes treat yourself (tm) all we have left is to find joy in whatever way we can, i dont want this to be a super negative post but its just quite frustrating how this decline in games is just going to continue because these people will just buy anything with the pokemon logo slapped on it cause Im Healing My Inner Child or Haha Funney Broken Game Haha, the people who buy these games on launch arent rich its just disposable income but for the next 5 years its going to be more of a privilege to drop $60 on half assed game just because you wanna Treat Yourself
like i grew up poor, me and my brother would get one game each a year unless we were lucky back when games were just $40, for example when the original DP came out he got pearl in january for his birthday i got diamond in march for mine and that was what we had for the year and it Definitely wasnt anywhere around DPs launch and now if i want to play anything remotely new im going to have to relive all that again IF i even have $60 left over from rent and groceries etc etc
WORST Part is that bdsp isnt even a remake of the best dp game, platinum had a whole new story and reworked graphics and an entirely new world just for giritina but no one said anything cause it was DP REMAKES DP REMAKES!! and nintndo saw money go up
so in 2024 when nintndo decides that "Actually we want that remake money early lol" and they shit out rushed BW remakes the sprites wont animate unless you uhhh buy online to bring back the Nostalgia of seeing them move for the first time and uhhhh theres gonna be a side phone app a la pokego for the Black City/White Forest functions because literally why not (dont start with the gift of prophecy jokes lol)
"play other games" yes sure gladly but its also no doubt that other companies will do just the same, remake a game for the Nostalgia and charge twice as much as the first just because they can or because something something New Graphics,, "its aimed for kids" youre missing my point entirely but also doesnt that kinda suck too? For The Kids we're gonna remake this game and keep it literally the same but charge $60 so parents will go 'oh thats the new game right?' and buy it and kids will just get used to half assed games and wont know the difference,, "its for accessibility" i can show you right now how to install desmume and play DP or platinum for Free on your pc or phone in under an hour
i will say i spent $160 on the new 2ds on ebay (if you bought any of the current era of games on launch you cant say a thing to me) for homebrewing and now i have the entire catalog of the gameboy/advanced, ds, 3ds, NES, fucking playstation 1 (for the most part), and MORE in my hands for free right now so its not about me whining that New Pokemon Expensive Waah its the fact that all these games are readily available in your hands right now for free but if i ever want to try anything in the future i have to decide if i want to spend more than half $100 for something not really worth it
ANYWAY youre not bad for buying it or enjoying it its not the end of the world it doesnt matter (tm) but me and other people who literally cannot drop $60 on a shitty game for the Nostalgia are just gonna have to get used to the fact that $60 minimun for games is just gonna stay i guess
