isle of frost.. bellum corrupts & extends his power through gleeok to cause all the fighting on the isle of frost, and after spending enough time there little disagreements start to escalate… they fight so much they decide to split up to cover more ground and link ends up running into the boss alone, which is kinda exactly what bellum wanted

PH AU/Rewrite Thoughts (Part 2)
Lore - Part 1 - Part 2 - Character Refs
Chapter 8
Massive Eye fight!! I love the look of this guy. I think it would be fun if Link could get up on it’s back though, kind of like how you ride Morpheel or Levias
Tumblr media
The Goron temple here is the same as the Fire temple from OoT. In OoT the Gorons lived on a moutain anyway, so I would think their culture and people were the least effected by the great flood. It’s also stated in Wind Waker that the temples had additional entrances on the mountaintops (now islands) so yeah. Wind waker already had some yummy OoT inspiration for dungeons let’s pepper in a bit more of that. The Gorons would be the most likely to know what the Wind Waker is/who Link is but Gongoron is younger n probably confused as to why the chief is so quick to respect Link and welcome him into their home. Idk other than that I wouldn’t change much about this section, I like tag teaming with Gongoron and I think we’d get to see Link’s big brother side coming out!! And Ciela’s too because I can see her having big sister energy.
Also I’m imagining the pure metal there is actually a vein of crimsonine ore and when Link is like “… Uh… gotta find a way to get a chunk of it out… “Gongoron is just “it’s ok ,watch this!” and just digs in and carves a piece out with his hands like it’s nothing.
The ship’s engine dies while they’re on their way to the next place. While they’re trying to troubleshoot and get it going again, Jolene’s ship happens to come by and spot them, prompting Linebeck to get tf outta there and hide in the cabin. But unlike in the game, when Jolene hops aboard and asks him where Linebeck is, our lil protag makes an executive decision and just… points at the cabin door lol. Cause he doesn’t think he could come up with a convincing lie on the spot, but he doesn’t Want to anyway cause he frankly doesn’t wanna be involved in whatever’s going on between them. So he and Ciela just sit up on the deck making the eyes emoji at each other while Jolene and Linebeck have their Adult Conversation which probably starts off with yelling but deflates into feelings talk about him ghosting her and that he just disappeared without a word. They talk abt how she wanted a romantic relationship but he knew he couldn’t give her what she wanted. At the time he didn’t really understand his feelings and why he didn’t want to be with her (he knows he’s gay now) While they don’t leave friends again really it’s at least much better with everything out in the open.
Chapter 9
Once they get to the Isle of Frost the gang starts investigating where to find the metal. They find out the Anouki and Yook are fighting but after visiting both villages they can’t seem to find a solid reason why. It’s a little sketchy and they figure Bellum may have something to do with what’s going on. They head to the temple and Linebeck is getting to a point where he’s like… feeling like he should probably be coming too because he’s the Adult™ and Link is just curtly like “Don’t. You can’t fight and you’re not coming because I can’t worry about protecting you.” Boy doesn’t sugarcoat anything and like. Partly Linebeck is relieved but also he has some guilt growing about Link doing so much fighting alone.
Tumblr media
Link and Ciela go and get to dungeon diving. And it goes ok until it Doesn’t and they both start getting irritated over little things. Then it turns into disagreements and passive aggressiveness and eventually devolves into an actual fight where they’re pushing each other’s buttons Big Time. They agree to split up bc Bellum’s interference is messing with their ability to make good decisions and they decide they can finish faster if they both cover half the temple. Link finds an abandoned grappling hook and makes use of it getting around to some of the parts of the temple that are damaged. He’s the first to happen across  Gleeok and realizes this is the guardian spirit of the island that’s been turned by Bellum, and if Bellum is a phantom of war and conflict, that’s why everyone on the island is arguing so much.
Link starts the fight trying to use his magic to turn Gleeok back, but can’t focus on one head without the other snapping at him. Ciela hears their fighting shaking the temple and is all “I ABANDONED MY BOY!!!” because her caring about Link outweighs Bellum pushing them apart. And she flies towards the sound to help. She gets her hero moment bursting in while Link is getting overwhelmed and they’re able to each focus on one head and just Pour their magic on Gleeok. Because hey, just like the temple, it’ll be easier if they each just take half. (heehaw)
With their combined power they turn Gleeok back to a spirit and it’s happy to gift them a chunk of Azurine.
Linebeck about has a heart attack when they fly out of the temple riding a two headed dragon.

Chapter 10
Back to Mercay for the Temple of the Ocean King AGAIN and at this point they’ve spent so much time on the ship just sailing between destinations they’ve gotten to be close… a weird little family. Ciela and Linebeck know Link’s whole story and what he’s trying to work through.
They get to Isle of the Dead and this place and Isle of the Ruins are HAUNTEDD. It’s ruins of a city that’s completely destroyed and mostly flooded. It’s filled with poes and stalfos wandering around. But also classic ghost™ stuff happening like voices and noises without any source and … the flying OoT tiles… They’re attracted to living beings wanting to drag them down too so Link and Ciela quickly realize they can’t leave Linebeck alone on the ship. He’s along for the ride this time.
Brant explains that the Cobble Kingdom had warriors who could all wield Phantom Weapons (Mutoh and his five knights). And Bellum wiped out the whole civilization so no humans could oppose him. This is what sparked the battle between Bellum and the Ocean King. All the poes and stalfos they’ve been fighting have been vengeful spirits of Cobble Kingdom residents who were killed by Bellum. He gifts them the regal necklace from his tomb so they can reach the Isle of Ruins. Each knight there has a key that will open the door to the next tomb- until they get the key to Mutoh’s temple.
The regal necklace creates a protective shield around them and allows them to sail the ship through the hurricane surrounding the Isle of Ruins, and dock on the island, in the eye of the storm.
Cue 4 mini dungeons across the island, each containing a knight’s tomb and a key unlocking the entrance to the next. Probably with each having a different theme to the puzzles, like one where the path only shows up in pitch black, one about changing water levels, one with connected red/blue blocks a la Tower of Hera, etc.
Tumblr media
So this whole tomb is on giant maze so it’s Linebeck’s time to shine cause maps are His Thing. And as they go he makes a map of all the rooms and passages so they know where they’ve been and they slowly work their way up several floors of the pyramid. They find the hammer and I LOOOVE Ciela carrying around the hammer in the original and I think she’d be able to magic it so it’s as strong as the OoT megaton hammer. Or maybe it was special to begin with. Either way.
They get to fight Eox which is a giant automaton that Bellum has possessed (sprimkle in a little foreshadowing as a treat) and tbh this boss is Ciela and her hammer’s time to shine. She could springboard Link onto it too so he can have a go. This boss fight still makes me nervous actually bc I’m afraid of puppets and it’s way too puppet like
They finally make it to Mutoh’s tomb and are able to talk to him and explain that they’re looking for the metal. Mutoh was buried with a sword made of Aquanine, and he gives them permission to take his sword from his tomb and melt it down for the pure metal. With a promise from the three of them to put an end to Bellum, Mutoh is able to rest.
Chapter 11
They head to Zauz’s island and probably spend at least a few days there while the pure metal blade is getting forged.
By the time they make it back to Mercay with the blade the general atmosphere is noticeably Different. It’s cold and cloudy on the island and the air is still. It’s the same kind of chill in the Temple of the Ocean King. They go to meet Oshus and while he’s still in his house, he’s very weak and is starting to become see through. He bonds the Phantom Hourglass, along with more of his life force, to the new blade to create the Phantom Sword. Now, not only can the blade kill Bellum, but it can also protect Link from having his life drained by Bellum’s curse without any time limit. He urges Link, Ciela, Neri, and Leaf to get to the very bottom of the temple and defeat Bellum before it’s too late. Then Oshus disappears completely, leaving them thinking Bellum may have finally beat him.
The sword/hourglass only protects one person as usual, so Linebeck isn’t able to come with them, and knows he wouldn’t be able to help anyway. He tells Link he knows he can win, and that he’ll be out here waiting. They have a father son hug as he asks Ciela to take care of the kid. (that line always stood out to me in the original…) Then Link and the three spirits head in for the victory lap down the temple, one hit killing Phantoms along the way. All three dream weavers have gained back a lot of their power, so at this point they’re able to freeze enemies in place, phase Link through blocked doors, use their own energy in place of needing to find a force gem, etc.
And we reach the Bellum fight at long last. There’s no trace of the Ocean King, so they launch straight into it. Between the Phantom Sword, Link’s magic, and all three dream weavers, they are actually decently matched and manage to wear him down.
Tumblr media
But as Bellum is weakened and Link is close to winning, Bellum switches gears and starts focusing on trying to possess a body so he can get out of there. And since he’s a spirit of conflict, he hones in on Link’s trauma relating to King’s death and killing Ganon. With no way to defend himself from any kind of mind attack, and with all of his baggage pushed to the forefront of his mind, Link starts to panic and Bellum corners him in front of that big purple pool in the center of the boss room.
Tumblr media
When Link’s brain replaces Bellum with Ganon’s silhouetted figure, Link drops the Phantom Sword and trips backwards into the water. Bellum dives in after him, latches onto his back and takes control. Bellum wraps his tentacles around the pillars and vaults back out of the water to reveal THIS guy
Tumblr media
Bellumlink summons a big sword like the temple’s phantoms and knocks Ciela and the other two spirits away against a wall, runs past while they’re unconscious and we get the stage set for the Actual final battle. Bellumlink comes running out of the temple and, now using both his own power and Link’s, shoots a beam that creates a huge crack in the sky. The crack starts to crumble and spread as the dream now begins to fall apart- and our team is on a timer to defeat him before the dream is destroyed completely and he’s able to escape.
Tumblr media
Bellumlink then locks onto Linebeck who’s been there waiting for them to come back. Might as well start attacking people for life force again, so he chases Linebeck all the way back down to the beach, eventually followed by Leaf, Neri, and Ciela, who’s lugging the Phantom Sword with her. Bellum’s weakened enough that Tetra returns to her normal self. She hears commotion and runs off the ship to find … Possessed Link going ham on Linebeck and three spirits and while she wasn’t all there, she had perceived Enough in her cursed state to have a gist of what’s happened. Ciela spots her running over and is like “YOU!!!” and brings the Phantom Sword to her. Because she’s been touched by the gods too!! And she can use it!!! So part two of the final battle is Bellumlink vs Tetra, Ciela, Leaf, and Neri. Plus Linebeck is there too not really fighting but,,, can’t tear himself away when he knows Link is in trouble.
Meanwhile Link finds himself in a possession induced nightmare, alone on Ganon’s tower. He hears his friends’ voices calling to him, he starts to scream for help as the ocean falls in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bellum’s main eye is hanging out on Link’s back and periodically opens to watch behind him for danger. But Tetra can’t find an opening because of course when it sees he coming it closes back up to protect itself. Linebeck tries to get Bellumlink’s attention on him so the others can get an opening but it works a little too well and he’s on top of him before he can start to get away. Bellumlink raises his sword to kill Linebeck but just. Stops. And stands there frozen. And Linebeck sees his chance to try to get through to Link, to tell him it’s gonna be okay, that what happened wasn’t his fault, and to urge him to keep fighting back. Linebeck’s words reach Link as he’s drowning in the nightmare.
Tumblr media
Tetra and Ciela sneak up from behind while that’s going on and Ciela freezes him in place the moment she sees the eye start to open. Tetra stabs Bellum without going deep enough to hit Link’s back, then while Bellum is recoiling she grabs on and starts pulling backward while Linebeck grabs Link and pulls forward. They manage to pull Bellum off him and Link gets to have his victory lap and deal the final blow.
Tumblr media
Chapter 12
I want a big group hug now that they know both Link and Tetra are back safe and sound!!!!
With Bellum defeated the Ocean King is free and he pops out of the ocean in his full whale form glory. The dream, though, was damaged too much by Bellumlink’s blow and is now starting to shatter completely. They’re told they’re about to wake up in the real world again, and Ciela flies over to the three of them and tells them this is where they have to part ways.
She’s a dream spirit, and only exists in dreams, so she won’t be able to follow into the physical world. But she adds that Link can still always see her when he’s dreaming, and that she’ll protect him from nightmares as long as he lives. She makes Linebeck promise to look after Link, and Link and Ciela hug as the fog rolls in.
Link wakes up on the deck of the Linebeck’s ship with Tetra and Linebeck.
Everyone on Tetra’s ship is like… who is that guy. Why are Link’s clothes different. Why did yall just materialize there. Where did the Ghost Ship go. Tetra tries to explain they’ve been in a dream world on an adventure for months, and the crew tells her it’s only been ten minutes or so since she hopped onto the Ghost Ship. They start bickering back and forth saying that’s impossible…
Their arguing is interrupted by the sound of a whale singing, and they all three run over to see off in the distance, the Ocean King spouts water and disappears into the ocean, followed by three lights.
Link turns to Linebeck and asks him to come with them on their search for the new country. Linebeck agrees :)
