Kai

SMN: after arriving in Limsa at level 1, K'lyhia comes up to her and says some stuff about 'natural aptitude' and '95.2% success rate' and takes her to the Arcanist guild (SMN is her main job, and follows the in-game quests)

PLD: she learned the basics of sword and shield growing up in her clan. She didn't join the Gladiator's guild, but when she first started working with Haurchefant (around level 40) he introduced her to some Ishgardian techniques. After Looking Glass, when the gang were staying at Dragonhead, Haurche gave her a PLD soul crystal and started training with her as a way to pull her out of the depression (this is also when things get spicy between them ����) (he offers to train alphi too but his lil nerd arms weren't up to it) (Kai's also able to save Haurche after the Vault by using Cover) (this injures her very badly and she misses out on everything up to the Thordan fight). After saving Estinien though, her right arm gets badly burned and she isn't able to wield a sword and shield properly so she retires from PLD

[Sniper]: after receiving Azem's crystal, she spends a lot of time Pondering it while she recovers from Light poisoning. With a little help from the Hyth shade in Amaurot (Kai spends a lot of her time there post-ShB. She even claims a room as her own, not knowing that it used to be Azem's office) she manages to manifest Azem's bow that Hades had stored inside along with the memories. Since it's made from her aether (it acts like a summon, like carby) it doesn't affect her arm to pull it, and she inherits the Sniper job (the Azem crystal acts as her jobstone)

RPR: some Stuff happens during the Endsinger fight, and long story short she ends up absorbing Zenos' aether after the final duel. She takes up his scythe, and he becomes her reaper avatar

FSH: also picked this up while recovering from ShB, it's quiet and keeps her away from people most of the time, and it's a good reason to travel to different places and see different things

Yuki

WHM: she knew the Eastern equivalent of conjury before traveling to Eorzea with the refugees, at which point she began adventuring with Kai. During this time she met the Padjali and received a WHM crystal

DRK: when the gang is first entering Ishgard Haruche warns her to keep herself cloaked in order to avoid discrimination. She covers her horns and tail while they're there, and starts mostly going out at night to avoid crowds. During this time she stops to pray for the corpse in the Brume, and at that point she receives the DRK crystal. Her dark side is fueled by her regret and frustration at not being able to do more for her people and for her new friends, and her anger toward the Empire (and eventually her love for Sid/Rielle/Crystal/her friends)

RDM: after the Vault and especially the events at Rhalgr's Reach she lost touch with her healing and wasn't able to do it for a while. When the gang returned from the Far East she encountered X'rhun and he taught her RDM as a way to balance out the White and the Dark inside her (instead of BLM spells she uses umbral/DRK fusion spells)

Twi

DRG: emerged from the Materiwood with a spear, joined the Lancer's guild (saved Foulques and helped him get to Coerthas, Alberic took him in) (follows the in-game quests)

DNC: after being pulled to the First she gets close to Lyna, also looks up to her, picks up the chakrams because of her admiration

RPR: meets Drusilla during post-ShB (follows in-game quests) (this job subject to change, she may become Corsair instead we'll see!)

Punch

WAR: her family runs a fairly successful trading caravan out of Ul'dah, and they frequently hire adventurers for protection. She picked up axe tech by learning from these guards, and meets Curious Gorge when the gang goes to Costa del Sol (after that follows in-game quests)

MNK: she punch (no MNK questline though, she just continue to punch)

BLM: grew up in Ul'dah, her patron is Nald'Thal, she spent a fair amount of time around the Thaumaturges guild, and Big Spell fun

MIN, all crafters except CUL: picked these up to help manage the caravan, it's much easier to guarantee fair trades when the person running the business can make appraisals themselves

Negi

BTN, FSH, and CUL: cooking is his main passion, and he spends a lot of time out in nature so he learned to gather his own ingredients

WAR: an axe for botany makes a handy weapon when needed (he trains with Punch after he joins the gang)

NIN: similarly, using knives for cooking builds up the skills you need for killing. He started NIN training with Yugiri during Stormblood, when she saw him making food one day and told him he'd have a knack for it

SGE: he encounters Loifa and Lalah during one of their confrontations in Idyllshire. Loifa gets away that first time, but Negi decides he wants to stick his nose into their business (because Loifa cute) so Lalah gives him the SGE stone (eventually they sort out Loifa's problems and he and Negi get spicy)

Popoto

BTN: I only came up with this lore recently so it's not set in stone yet, but I think she may be from Tural, and she came to Eorzea to learn about/collect samples of exotic plants. She encounters the group occasionally during ARR, and by the end of Heavensward she joins up with them permanently because they seem to get around and she wants to explore new places

SCH: she thinks the tonberries are cute and wanted to get a closer look, ended up meeting Alka Zolka and Surito Carito while Alka was scouting the ruins of Nym

Crystal

WAR: she regularly encounters the Qerel while traveling in the Steppe, and the axe is her one and only weapon

(SMN: she is a lorekeeper, so has a Tome to record events and happenings, if Pictomancer is really coming out though she may get that job instead)

Saih'a

BLM, AST, ALC: learned in his studies at the Studium

BRD: had basic training with the bow in Sharlayan, after he came to Eorzea for a while he met Jehantel during the old man's wanderings across the realm. Jehantel stuck around and taught him barding as a way to soothe the Big Angst that Saih'a was going through at the time
