their mom being gone and their other person leaving for a week has apparently made the cats anxious about their Large Dumb Cats abandoning the colony, which i know because pyotr has taken to aggressively scent marking me and then shoving his entire face in my armpit for extended periods of time because he doesn't trust me to adequately return the favor

at some point in the next week or so it’s going to sink in properly that my roommate and closest friend of 5 years is actually gone and there’s a chance we might never see each other in person again, and I’m going to be very fucked up about it

listen when i say the roomie’s cat hates me everyone is always like “ohhhh i’m sure she doesn’t hate you! she probably just isn’t comfortable with most people! maybe she thinks you’re the fun aunt who’s only for playing!” and like. i appreciate it. but i promise you this cat. Hates Me. specifically. it’s unclear why (my theory is that the anesthesia from her spaying rewired her brain, since she liked me fine before that) but she definitely actively dislikes me.

you know that slow blink thing cats do when they like someone? and how you can do it back to reciprocate? i just slow blinked at this cat and watched her eye twitch as she actively fought the impulse to blink at all.

these cats are gonna be the death of me

i dragged myself up and out of bed and downstairs to the couch despite my legs being made of knives and my head feeling like death, because the couch is the only place they can sit on my lap properly and get pet and i know they’re missing the constant physical contact of my roomies being home

and these fuckers

have stayed upstairs, screaming, and making periodic crashing sounds that i am absolutely incapable of investigating at this time

i just can’t win 😭

i know it’s probably just because Her People have been gone for a couple weeks now and she’s lonely but the cat that hates me let me pet her today for like a full 20 seconds before she bit me, and she purred and everything, and i am just so 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
