The worst tragedy that hit this country happened in my city, at the intersection of two main roads by the mall a police cordon was up and lots of flowers were being laid there. An armed cop stood guard, a few of em, and down the road a short ways was the mosque. It was nearly surreal, nothing like had ever happened in Aotearoa, with sadly 51 people being murdered, another 40 injured, and so many families affected. My brother lost a classmate, and he was at a climate protest in the main green space beside Masjid Al Noor when it happened. A terrifying couple hours when information on what was happening in the city was all jumbled. My heart goes out to themall who passed that day, every time I see the gorgeous fiftyone flowers mural on my way into town.
