Fics of Christmas Past – Part One

‘Tis the season for casefics, fluff, and family fun. The librarians wanted to celebrate the festive season by compiling a list of Christmas-themed fics from years past, and after much debate about proper presentation of such a smörgåsbord we decided to split it into two posts. 

In total there will be 26 fics–one for each day before Christmas, and a bonus for the day you just need that little bit more. The summaries are the writers’ own.

Death of the Artist (2013) by SoniaVice – It’s Christmas, the sun is shining, and Phryne Fisher is having a party for one of Australia’s greatest living artists.  Miss Lena Torville is back in the country for the first time since the war, and Melbourne’s art set has been invited.Mac isn’t expecting to enjoy herself at a party for painters but one of Phryne’s guests proves to be quite captivating.  It might be a good night after all. The night is a swinging success, until murder crashes the party.

Johnny’s Legacy (2014) by Twilight2000 – It’s Christmas eve, 1928. The rules just changed last month, making a Christmas party with Christmas Cheer that much easier.

Christmas 1928 and Christmas 1929 (2014) by @aljohnsonwrites – A brief little one-shot, set at Christmas 1928. / Set after the end of Season 2. Assume Jack and Phryne have somehow managed to figure it all out, and have become a couple.

All is Bright (2015) by @gaslightgallows – After sharing a lovely Christmas dinner with her friends and family, Jack has something for Phryne.

Naughty or Nice (2015) by @flashofthefuse – Phryne is helping out at a Children’s Hospital Christmas party. The event’s “Santa” falls ill and she recruits a reluctant Jack to fill in.

Where the Love Light Gleams (2015) by @firesign23 – A series of correspondences from the people who miss Phryne Fisher the most.

The Rarest Dish in All the Land (2015) by @gaslightgallows – Mac’s baking Christmas cookies, and Phryne’s helping. …Well, ‘helping’.

Old-Fashioned (2015) by @gaslightgallows – There was an utterly enormous something sitting beside the tree when Jane descended the stairs in her pyjamas, first of everyone, on Christmas morning.

Ho, Ho, Ho, Jack! (2015) by Shamashe – Jack has fun playing Santa – Phryne plays as his elf.

A Short Engagement (2015) by @gaslightgallows – When Phryne encounters an old flame at a Christmas party, Jack has to play the part of her fiancé.

O Little Town of Bethlehem (2015) by @aljohnsonwrites – Post 3x08 I wrote 'An Unexpected Rendezvous’, and some readers were kind enough to ask for more details of Phryne and Jack’s journey back from Paris to Melbourne. 

All Wrapped Up in Each Other (2016) by @omgimsarahtoo – It’s Christmas 1930, and Phryne and Jack decide to go away for a long weekend just before the holiday; they rent a cottage at the beach and do their best to stay naked the whole time.

All is calm… (2016) by @aljohnsonwrites – I remarked to someone a few months back that I hadn’t actually written a 'Phrack reunion IN London’ fic. This then, remedies that.
