When you say it’s most wins by a runner up in the title fight I don’t think I’ve understood cause Jorge had 8 in 2013 when Marc won and Vale had more than 3 in 2015 when Jorge won

(x) conditional tense very important there - I said 'this'd be', the implicit part of that sentence is 'this would be the most wins by a runner up if martin wins the championship'. which he's obviously the favourite to do, he's 17 points clear! that's not a points haul you make up in the last two races generally, though the obvious caveat here is that sprints make bigger weekend-to-weekend points swings possible. if pecco doesn't clinch the title, as is still obviously the most likely outcome, then he would indeed have most wins of a runner-up

#like the thing about this points gap is that you need SOMETHING to happen. it's not necessarily choking if jorge loses it but #you need another wet race where things go horribly wrong for martin. you need a racing incident with marc where they both go down #jorge knows he can ride to second to win this title. and obviously he WAS flirting with disaster this past weekend but surely. now #the LEAST likely outcome is they both keep it clean but pecco wins the title because marc/bastianini get between them #//#brr brr #current tag #batsplat responds #also just to state my biases - i AM rooting for one guy over the other but i'm at a point where i'll genuinely be sad for whoever loses #and will be delighted for whoever the winner is. they both thoroughly deserve it and this weekend proved it once again
