Me seeing questionable and often vitriolic takes regarding Demetri Alexopoulos and Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz and scrolling onwards

#the Demetri dislike/hate in particular seems largely to be pretty bad faith criticism#and comes from people who don't care to try and understand him as a character#like hell even back when I couldn't stand Tory#I understood why she hated Sam and what her motivations were for being a menace#I just didn't care for her and found her to be a self-pitying edgelord aksjidohf#the Demetri hate is always either “I don't like him because he's annoying” (and you WEREN'T as a teenager???)#or “I don't like him because he's a bad friend to Eli” (congrats on literally not paying attention to any of the show at all)#(and also assuming what would make a good friend to YOU applies to everyone you tunnel vision asshat)#like some people like having overprotective friends while some find it patronizing to not be allowed to fight their own battles#some socially awkward people (like pre-CK Eli!!!) prefer someone who will speak for them to take the pressure off#and some people would get annoyed at being spoken over#because everyone is different actually#meanwhile the Eli hate bleeds into straight up ableism#“I hate Hawk because he [insert behavior related to him most likely being autistic and mimicking questionable people]”#like yeah he's still responsible for being a shit but you HAVE to take the context into account#kid was manipulated and brainwashed and is doing his best to unlearn mindsets he was more vulnerable toward due to being ND#please give him a break!#demetri alexopoulos#demetri cobra kai#eli moskowitz#hawk
