I WROTE THIS IN THE 7TH GRADE SO ENJOY MY CRINGE

IT'S SCP BASED, SCP 3001, I WAS OBSESSED OKAY?!?!?!?

Dr. Robert Scranton and his wife, Dr. Anna Lang, the site directors for SCP Foundation site 120, the main containment and research site for anomalous objects and entities with reality-bending abilities, not only made the Scranton Stabilizer, but have also created a prototype for the Lang-Scranton Stabilizer (LSS). During a test in the site’s Reality Lab, major seismic activity rocked the site to its core. While nobody noticed at the time, a hole opened in the control panel which Dr. Scranton was operating, dragging Dr. Scranton and the control panel into what is now known as SCP-3001. The researchers at site 120 believed that Dr. Scranton died quickly without any pain at all. But, they couldn’t be sure.

SCP-3001 is reported to be an alternate universe which presents as a pitch-black space, with not a single bit of light or life at all. No food, no water, nothing. This is what Dr. Scranton endured for 5 years, 11 months, and 21 days. 2 years in, however, Dr. Scranton made a certain discovery, the only reason we have a record of what lies within SCP-3001 to this day.

2 years. For 2 years, Dr. Scranton walked through the darkness. He couldn’t stop and eat; there was no food or water there. He couldn’t die, either; this seemed normal, in a way. After all, this was another world, the kind of thing Dr. Scranton studied for a living, at a job he shared with his wife. His wife. Anna. He almost forgot her name. Things have been slipping from his memory lately. His thoughts trailed off as he walked through the darkness, walking slowly towards the blinking red light.

Wait. Light? There isn’t anything that can emit light here. There shouldn’t be.

The light grew closer. The control panel! Soon, that very control panel became an anchor for Dr. Scranton. 3 more years flew by. In that time, Dr. Scranton had managed to decipher why this place was the way it is. The hume level was so very, very low. The hume level of an object reflects on how real it is, at least, in our understanding of reality according to how our plane of existence operates. Time passed, and as it did, Dr. Scranton could feel himself slowly fading away. He started repeating certain crucial facts. Name? Robert Scranton. Favorite color? Blue. Wife? Anna. This would go on and on. One day, he started to feel… strange. He looked down at himself and saw his own cells being pulled apart and becoming one with the darkness surrounding him. Pulling away more, and more, and more, until all that was left was a couple organs, a blood-stained control panel, and one gold ring.

Around 15 years later, there in the very lab this all started in, as Dr. Anna Lang stood in that lab, the control panel suddenly returned to that lab, to our plane. Dr. Lang stared at the control panel, horrified. She saw the organs, the blood, and the ring. Suddenly, she knew. They were wrong about her husband’s death. Robert didn’t die quickly like they all thought. He must have suffered so, so much. Anna picked up the ring, the last shred of the man she loved. She kept it in her pocket when she went to work each day for a while. After some time, she put it on a necklace and wore that necklace wherever she went. Anna never forgot him. She never could. She soon stayed in her office later and later into the night. Her coworkers would joke that she might as well start sleeping on site, since that was the only thing she went home to do. She would often become quite upset at these comments, and those who remarked about such things soon ceased to do so.

Dr. Lang was working late that night, as usual. She was sitting there at her desk, focused on the papers in front of her, illuminated by the incandescent lightbulb in her lamp. She looked up sharply. She heard something. Footsteps. Probably someone on security passing by. But then again, these footsteps weren’t like a guard’s. They were lighter, and a guard’s heavy boots couldn’t make such little noise. Dr. Lang stood from her chair to investigate the sound. As she walked, she heard another sound, something she didn’t recognize, coming from behind her. She turned to look, immediately seeing the kidney sitting atop her papers. She could tell, even without touching it, that if she did, it would still be warm. She heard another sound, a slow dripping noise from the same direction she heard the footsteps coming from. Turning around once again, Dr. Lang saw the black ooze dripping from the ceiling. Drip, drip, drip. She quickly ran out of the room and down the hallway, calling for help. She turned a corner and saw one of the mobile task force officers down the hallway she was running into. Dr. Lang recognized him. Frank! He could help her! She called out to him, and he turned quickly. He saw the fear on her face and soon reached for his gun.

Drip, drip, drip. Black ooze once again began dripping from the ceiling, but this time, it wasn’t just ooze that came from the ceiling. This time, an old man dropped down from the ooze. Frank began shooting at him, but the man soon grabbed him and dragged him down into a puddle of the same ooze that was on the ceiling, now on the floor. Dr. Lang ran away from that spot as fast as she could. She got quite far, but she tired herself out. She stopped running and took a moment to rest. But rest is a valuable privilege that SCP foundation staff are deprived of. The old man appeared beside Dr. Lang. She tried to run, but the old man grabbed her arm and pulled her back towards him.

“Anna.”

Dr. Lang froze. He knew her name. She turned and looked at his face. Now that she was really looking, she slowly began to recognize him. “Robert…?” The old man smiled, and soon Anna returned that familiar smile she knew was her husband’s. She hugged him, ignoring the fact that her arm was slowly turning into the same black ooze that Robert could now create. Anna no longer cared. She was happy. Her husband was back, and she felt that if she died there, in that hallway, she would die happy. The ooze continued to spread, and Dr. Anna Lang was no more. She became part of the ooze, and she would remain by her husband’s side… forever.

Part 2 — Part 3 — Bonus Chapter

When Nightmare opened his eyes, he was sitting on a tree branch. He blinked several times in confusion, not remembering when and how he got there but brushed it off as just dozing off while doing so, it happened sometimes. He assumed he went there to write fanfiction but he soon noticed that his hands were empty of a pen or paper.

Furthermore, something felt familiar with the tree and its overall surroundings. He looked at the leaves and was blinded by the sunlight that managed to seep through the holes in between them. He cursed, bringing a hand above his head to shield him from it.

That’s when he noticed the fruits.

There were apples attached to the branches of the tree, the ones on the left were coal black while the ones on his right were a bright and majestic golden color, wrinkling with the sun.

Which meant that he was currently sitting on the Tree of Emotions. His eyebrows furrowed and confusion filled his head. How in the world did he end up here out of all places? The universe has been discarded if he remembered right so why did—

Then something hit him.

There were black apples on the tree.

Which meant Dream didn’t turn them into golden ones yet.

It was crazy, absolutely insane. Not even a mad man would have thought even for a second that this could be possible but painful hope clenched in his chest and set his soul pounding loudly in his throat with delusional wishes that would likely end in disappointment.

Even with that thought in mind, he jumped down the branch, completely throwing the idea of climbing down the trunk off a cliff. He didn’t have time for that bullshit, he needed to see if his theory was right.

He ended up landing on his feet and since his entire weight was put onto them, it surely would have hurt. However, thanks to the blessing that was adrenaline, he didn’t feel the pain and on the contrary, started sprinting as he had never run before towards a small one-floor house that was placed near the tree.

It was in good shape. The window placed at the front of the house, which made anyone able to take a look at the living room, had light visible on the other side of it. That light unsurprisingly came from the lamps but someone needed to light them up for them to function.

It made him run even faster than before, and the faint hope lingering in his mind lit up like a wildfire. It started to take shape and grow bigger, making Nightmare almost believe it was happening.

He arrived at the front door and instead of searching for the key like a normal and civilized person, he backed away a bit before kicking it down mercilessly. If anyone was replaced with that door, they would have been taken into the hospital right away but again, Nightmare did not give the slightest fuck.

He stood on the remnant of the door, shards of wood sprayed across the floor messily as he panted. Soft footsteps echoed in the other room.

“Now I don’t know what that door has ever done to deserve this,” A voice stated. It was muffled but Nightmare could still feel the sense of familiarity in it. “But I hope you’re aware we’re gonna have to pay for the reparation.”

A figure appeared from around the corner, holding a book under his elbow. His voice was clearer now and with the face accompanying it, there was no mistake possible, the person speaking to him right now was Dream.

He did not mean the 6-foot-tall Dream with golden wings shed out on his back which he ran away from during the last 106 years. No, he meant the five-foot-five Dream from a century ago with dark brown hair, who he spent eight whole years crushing on.

The latter had his eyes narrowed at him with an unimpressed look rather than one of hatred. “And we don’t have that much money.” He finished, looking away from Nightmare and preferring to look down at the ground, analyzing just how screwed they were.

“Seriously, wha—“ Before he could go on any further, Nightmare threw himself at the other, snaking his arms around his neck. Dream yelped, not expecting this, and lost his balance. They both tumbled on the floor, back colliding harshly with the ground, thankfully there wasn’t any damaged wood lying there that could have stabbed Dream.

The brown-haired man withered in pain, still with Nightmare laying on top of him. He was about to scold him, ask him what was that for until he was cut off by a sob that came from the other. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion and concern, that must have been the first time he’s seen him act so emotional.

“… Nightmare? What’s wrong?”

Nightmare didn’t reply, only hugged the other even tighter as more sobs tore from his throat and made him tremble from head to toe. God help him, he probably looked so pathetic right now, wailing like a toddler while clinging to his ex-crush.

He couldn’t help it though, all the memories flooded back to him like a tsunami when he entered the house and all the longing for them to go back to the way it was came launching at him like a brick when he saw Dream walk in. All of those were way too much for him to handle, especially when they were harassing him simultaneously like right now.

He felt Dream’s arms slowly wrapped around his back, one of his hands rubbing little soothing circles on it. He gritted his teeth, about to cry again, and buried his face in the crook of the other’s neck. Hugging Dream felt exactly like he remembered it and a discreet sniff was enough to confirm that he also smelled the same.

He was never a fan of sweet things but even he couldn’t deny that vanilla smelled good, or maybe he was just saying that because that’s what Dream smelled like? He was such a freak. He snuggled even closer to him, planning on not softening his grip on him. He feared that if he let go of the other, he would disappear again and he didn't think he was ready for that to happen.

Dream didn’t make any comment on his behavior and had yet to repeat his question, he probably figured out that Nightmare didn’t trust himself to speak at the moment. It would come out as incoherent and pitiful gibberish if he tried.

The duo stayed like that for a while, the silence only broken by Nightmare’s sniffs and the wind blowing outside. Dream had stopped rubbing Nightmare’s back at one point, instead preferring to gently pet his hair until he’d calm down.

The Guardian felt comfortable right now, so much that he was starting to get sleepy. He resisted against it though, anxious that Dream would disappear if he did.

“Sorry.” He let out after a few with a hoarse voice, better to talk and look miserable than have Dream leaving again. “I just missed you.”

Dream hummed at that. “If I knew you would react this badly, I would have taken you with me to the store.”

Nightmare puffed, slouching onto Dream even more.

If that was a dream, he hoped he’d never wake up from it.

actually yknow what lets talk about the panama canal for a minute. first things first i am by NO means an expert, i do not know every facet of history, especially not the political impact and the sheer amount of treaties between the us and panama along with their effects, i do however think the lock system is very cool.

One of the saddest things about the panama canal is that, no one really knows a whole lot about it, at least most of the people I’ve met haven’t, so to start off we’re gonna go through the basics. The idea of the panama canal can be traced back centuries but the first recorded attempt at a canal was in 1881, led by the french. this project lasted until 1889, which failed for reasons we’ll get into later. now, after the failure of the french canal, the project was abandoned, until the U.S. bought the french canal when plans to build a nicaraguan canal fell through (which is also p interesting but I’m not getting into that). The U.S. started construction in 1912, and the canal was “finished” in 1914, just 2 years later.

Now we’ll get into the good stuff! The french canal originally failed for a few reasons, but all due to a severe underestimation of what it means to actually build a canal. So alongside cost overruns and political problems, the reason I’d like to focus on is the huge amount of casualties, not because of workplace incidents, oh no, but because of one little motherfucker.

see, the french didn’t really know just how bad it can get without proper disease control. Considering this was the late 19th century, I’m not entirely surprised, but then again one must expect some crazy ass diseases when you’re building in the middle of the tropics. So, if anyone else ended up picking up this project, you’d have to have a solid yellow fever defense plan, which the U.S. recognized, and started to research.  To sum it up, the military physician at the time, General Walter Reed, commissioned the work of Cuban scientist Carlos Finlay who had first theorized the cause of yellow fever to be disease-carrier mosquitoes. This commission went on to further develop just how yellow fever was spread, and was, at the time, revolutionary. Sadly, most sources will completely ignore Finlay’s association with the theory and pin it all on Reed, but at the very least Reed himself heavily credited Finlay for the theory. After the discovery of how it spread, the chief sanitary officer in Havana used that theory and research to eliminate yellow fever in Havana (whether or not this is entirely true would need more research, but it’s important to note that is what the chief claimed). The panama canal team saw, this and hired him to do the same in the construction of the canal.

While the research founded because of the project was, great, and it certainly helped save hundreds and thousands of lives, there was still a great deal of suffering with workers of the canal. The labor in this time period would require an entire other post but the basics are, it fucking sucked man. Living situations were unhygienic and highly dangerous, offering little to no protection from tropical wildlife like venomous snakes. Not to mention, many laborers were from the west indies, specifically Barbados, baited into work after persuaded with the “Colón Man”, a caricature of a laborer returning to his island a wealthy man, which couldn’t be farther from the truth. There was also a fuck ton of discrimination with 2 different payrolls, a Gold roll and a Silver roll, which started as “skilled” vs “unskilled, but over time it was glaringly obvious it was just white vs non-white. (there's a lot of. disgusting shit about this but I’d recommend looking here for more info)

So yeah, working on the canal was terrible, but the technology used in this thing is so fucking cool man. The canal of course had to be lock-based, as the pacific and atlantic have a significant height difference. If you don’t know what i mean by locks, it’s essentially these walls dividing the passage way so the ship can be easily contained when raising and lowering water levels. (there’s some sick ass videos of this but here’s one that’s the entire transit) now, I’d still have do more research into the development and construction of these locks, but isn’t that just the coolest thing in the world? Anyways, there’s a couple different locks but the 2 main ones are the miraflores, which are by the pacific, and the gatún, which are by the atlantic. (another cool thing, here’s a 24/7 live-stream of the locks. isn’t that neat???) there’s a visitor center by the miraflores lock, which has a viewing area so you can sit and watch the ships go by, and a gift shop lmao! now, when i said “finished” in the beginning, it’s because after 1914, cargo ships of course. got bigger. to the point where they outgrew the panama canal. so, in 2009 an expansion project began adding a third lane and 2 new locks (more info here, apparently they did some cool environmental things too which i didn’t know about!) which allowed for even more ships to come through, as well as helping traffic! which is also super fucking cool!!!

Now i glossed over a lot of things, mainly political tension between the U.S. and Panama (important thing is we control the canal now, which took 96 years, can you believe that?), but the last thing i wanna say is that, a good portion of the panama canal waterway takes place in lake gatún, which makes sense right. Its a very large lake conveniently in the middle of panama. The cool part? it’s fake. Lake gatún was the largest artificial lake of its time. it isn’t anymore, but then again its been 106 years so is that really surprising?

anyways the point is the panama canal is really cool and deserves recognition okay. it may not seem as impressive to us these days but in historical context? that shit was IMPRESSIVE.

Has been discussed before, but where do you think Donald and Della fit in a timeline who are only in their 30s but whose parents would be in their 100s if they had their children in the 1980s. This like bothers me daily, I still feel that Castle McDuck is the key, but how...

XD The age thing doesn’t bother me too much, though I have thought a lot about it. 

Scrooge is over 150 (Webby said he hatched in 1867), but he’s still fit and spry and hasn’t aged in forever because of various reasons (many of which we don’t know yet). It makes sense to me that Hortense and Matilda’s lives (including at least Hortense’s eggbearing years) may have been magically extended, too.

Last year, someone asked Frank if Quackmore, Hortense, and Matilda were all super old, too, and he said two are old, one is not. The most obvious choice for the young one is Quackmore, who is not a McDuck but a simple farm boy with no means of magically extending his life, while the other two are Scrooge McDuck’s sisters. Some people were guessing Hortense was the young one because they can’t deal with a supernaturally old woman bearing children, but that wouldn’t make sense. If they want Hortense (born in 1876 according to the comics) to be the young one just so she can have children in the 1980s  and it not be weird, that would mean Downy (born in either 1830 or 1840, depending on the source) would’ve had to have Hortense in her old age, which defeats the purpose of the young Hortense theory.

Fergus and Downy didn’t freeze in age until Scrooge rebuilt Castle McDuck for them, and they look like they’re in their 70s or so. 

Since Downy stopped aging when she was already a cute li’l old lady, it’s unlikely Hortense was born in Castle McDuck. If anthropomorphic ducks are like humans, Downy would’ve been post-menopausal for twenty years already when she stopped aging (also, if Hortense were born at Castle McDuck, she would stay a baby forever, unless they gave her up... heck, she might not have ever hatched! She’d be a wee fertilized yolk chillin’ in her mom’s oviduct foreverrrr). So it doesn’t make sense for Hortense to have been the only young one out of her, Matilda, and Quackmore.

Now, as for Donald and Della...Frank said in two asks they’re in their mid-thirties, and more recently in another ask that they’re 36. If the pilot episode takes place in 2017, and there were two references late in Season 2 saying a year has gone by, that means it’s now 2018 in the show which would put their birth year in 1982. 

If Hortense’s birth year is kept from the comics as Scrooge’s was, that’d mean she had twins when she was 106. 

But she wouldn’t look or act 106. Scrooge looks like a fit, spry 50 or 60, so Hortense could’ve been in her later eggbearing years, physically... just not chronologically. Maybe she was just past the point of being able to conceive but she made a wish to some wish-granting being or artifact for a son and daughter. 

Maybe she and Matilda stayed at Castle McDuck a long time when it was rebuilt before leaving, or maybe they went on some crazy adventures with their brother that delayed or reversed their aging process as his was.

Whatever the reason, this is a show with mystical artifacts, immortality-granting stones, fountains of youth, people surviving being frozen for years, alternate dimensions without time, crazy adventures and magic, etc. So the idea of Hortense having kids at over 100 years old just kinda seems to fit.

Michael’s at a bar in town nursing a beer and listening with half an ear to the soft blues playing from the jukebox in the corner. There’s a game on the television, and a crowd of people who don’t know or care who  he is or what kind of trouble he’s brought down on himself with his latest stunt and it’s -

He won’t say it’s great, but it’s a damn sight better than hanging around base.

Eyes on him everywhere he went like he was a time-bomb set to go off at the slightest provocation. Like they don’t know the kind of bastard Sullivan was, the kind of sleaze -

“Hey,” Michael hears, and looks over when someone sits on the bar stool next to him.

The guy has this smug little smirk to him as he leans over to grab the bowl of nuts Michael’s been picking through and shoves a handful in his face.

“I’m sorry what?” Michael asks, not so much angry as bewildered because who the fuck does something like that?

The guy’s smirk gains this edge to it as he sits back to look Michael over.

“Military?” he asks, and there’s something to it that has Michael’s hackles rising just the slightest bit.

He's already in trouble with the mess with Sullivan,  though. No need to give his lawyers more ammo by getting in a bar fight with a civilian.

“What gave it away?” Michael asks. “Was it the hair? It’s always the hair.”

First thing people look at, really.

The guy snorts.

“Thought the military didn't like smartasses.”

They’re not big fan of them, no. At least not the kind like Michael, which, you know. Kind of a problem, given everything.

“You kidding me?” Michael asks, because he’s the kind of stupid who should know better but clearly doesn’t. “They love assholes like me.”

He gets the old side-eye for that, and a downgrade from the guy’s annoyingly smug smirk to something a little softer.

“Sure kid,” he says, and signals the bartender for another round of nuts and a new beer for Michael even though he's barely halfway through his first.

Michael has no idea where the fucker came from, but he doesn’t seem about to leave anytime soon, and honestly he's too tired to put up much of a fight about things.

The guy hums along to the song, off-key and doing an all-over shitty job of it when he glances at Michael again.

This look on his face,and Michael braces himself for whatever he’s about to say next. He’s looking a lot like the town crazy, the old nutjob who hangs out at the bar and spouts conspiracy theories and whatever the hell else is packed away in that head of his.

“Hey,” he says, corner of his mouth ticking up at the way Michael leans away from him. “Do you believe in aliens?”

Michael stares at the guy who looks dead serious. Like he has no idea how crazy he sounds.

“Oh, fuck yeah,” Michael says flatly, and takes a drink of his beer, wishes it was something stronger. “I’m goddamn crazy about the fuckers. Just. Fucking wild about them.”

The guy cracks up, this weird hyena laughter that doesn’t rub Michael the wrong way even though he’s clearly laughing at Michael. Opens his mouth like he’s going to say something.

Maybe ask if Michael’s seen an alien himself, or something else along those lines, but -

“There you are, you asshole.”

The guy turns at the voice, oblivious to the clear annoyance in it as he throws his arms wide to welcome the man walking up to them.

“Jack!”

The sigh “Jack” lets out is the most long-suffering thing Michael’s ever heard, and he’s done enough in his life be a decent judge on that front.

“Have you been drinking?”

The guy shakes his head, hand over his heart.

“You know I wouldn’t,” he says, something wounded in it as he gestures to the bar at large. “Some asshole spilled his drink on me, so I came over here and ended up making a friend.”

Jack looks at Michael, and Michael holds his hands up.

“Don’t look at me,” he says. “I was just minding my business when your buddy started putting his hands all over my nuts.”

There’s a delicate pause, Michael's eyebrows going up as he dares the nut-stealer to refute his claim. Waits to see what his buddy’s going to do because – hey, Michael’s an asshole.

“Okay,” Jack says suspiciously evenly, as he places a hand on the asshole’s shoulder. “Well, I’m sorry to break things up, but he has a busy day tomorrow.”

Michael watches as Jack drags his asshole friend out of the bar and decides it’s well past time he went home too, and pulls out his phone to bring the rideshare app up.

Two weeks later and Michael’s standing in front of a Stargate for the first time.

It’s definitely something.

Millennia old technology that outclasses anything the human race has managed by a mile, for all it’s just a big stone ring.

The nut-stealer from the bar is beside him, all cleaned up and apparently in charge of this top-secret government organization that explores alien planets like it’s nothing.

“Good thing you believe in aliens,” General Ramsey says, and slaps Michael on the shoulder as he walks down the ramp. “Keep up, you’ve to a lot to catch up on.”

Michael get a crash course on the SGC and their mission statement. A brief history and all that and the promise of more in-depth information if he decides to sign on. The whole recruitment spiel, like he’s something special and not just another asshole like all the others who signed their lives away to the government.

And then the General tilts his head, just so when Michael asks why they seem to want him so badly. Why they’re willing to handle the mess with Sullivan is he joins the SGC, give him the chance to advance his military career instead of letting it stagnate.

“Gavin asked me for a favor,” he says. “Wanted to offer you a chance here with the SGC.”

Michael’s brain blue-screens for a moment there, because Gavin, okay.

Gavin was this weedy little scientist Michael was assigned to years back. Got pushed around by the grunts who never got the bullies are assholes talk until Michael stepped in.

They’ve kept in contact over the years, but news from Gavin’s trailed off a year or so ago. Just after he landed a new job somewhere, very hush-hush and all that.

“Gavin.”

The General smirks, but there’s a hint of fondness to it.

“You must have made quite the impression on him,” he says. “Asshole doesn’t call in favors like that unless it’s important to him.”

Michael heads to the mess hall for a cup of coffee as he considers his options.

He’s still coming to terms wth the fact that aliens are real. That the General may have been fucking with him back at the bar, but aliens are real and it’s taking time to fully process.

Because hey, not only are aliens real, but there are some out there who have either tried to either destroy the world or take it over several times in recent history.

And now Michael is expected to go through the Stargate to come into contact with more aliens, of the assholes, the ones who don’t want them dead. (Hopefully.)

It sounds like something out of a bad movie, but obviously isn’t.

Michael looks up when someone clears their throat, and oh, look.

It’s Gavin.

“Geoff explained things then?” Gavin asks, slight jitter to his hands like he’s been living off coffee and energy drinks again. “You’re staying?”

The hopeful note to his voice doesn’t go unnoticed, or the way Gavin doesn’t really meet his eyes as though he’s afraid of what Michael might do.

And maybe, maybe, if Gavin had used his favors to secure Michael a place with the SGC. Bullied his way into landing Michael a job here ahead of better qualified people out there, he’d be angry about things. Think he was getting him into the kind of situation where he’d be indebted to the fucker, but.

The General made it clear that it’s not a sure thing, this. That Gavin had asked Geoff to consider him for a position here with one of the gate teams. Made sure Geoff knew about this potential candidate because he wanted to give Michael a chance at a future here if he wanted it.

There’s more to it, of course, a whole mess of complicated bullshit the General went through to push Michael’s name through like this. The unofficial trip out to assess Michael in the most bizarre way possible, and Michael’s still not sure that wasn’t some kind of hallucination.

Still.

Michael doesn’t have a lot of options open to him, really.

Face court martial for striking a superior officer even though Sullivan fucking deserved it, or join the SGC and explore alien planets.

The high risk of dying horribly out there, to quote the General:

  “Shit gets rough out there.”

So Michael’s been thinking about it.

The pros and cons of joining the SGC to visit alien planets and everything that goes with it.

Michael sighs as he studies Gavin.

He looks.

Well, he looks like shit.

Bags under his eyes and that jitter to him, but happy under it all. Like he’s doing something he loves, worth missing sleep and sucking back enough caffeine running through his veins that would have killed a lesser man.

This idiot who used up favors to get Michael here because Michael was nice to him that one time.

“Aliens,” Michael says. “Aliens.”

Gavin makes this humming noise, head cocked to the side.

“Geoff said you believed in them?” he says, like he doesn’t see what the problem is here.

“I thought he as the town crazy, Gavin,” he says, taking care to speak clearly because Gavin’s kind of an idiot sometimes.

“Well,” Gavin says, just as slowly and clearly because he’s also a little shit. “You’re not entirely wrong on that one. Everyone here’s crazy. It helps.”

That -

Yeah, okay.

You’d have to be at least a little crazy to step through the Stargate the way these people do. Knowing the risks and forging on ahead anyway because they want – need  - to know what’s out there.

“Awesome,” Michael says, because he’s always been a little crazy himself. “Glad I decided to sign on for this shit.”

He doesn't risk tempting fate by asking what could possibly go wrong, but like an idiot, he does think it, because honestly.

Cry for America.

At a time when it was clear America planned to unite–to come together to condemn a policeman’s heinous crimes over a defenseless man, the left had no intention of allowing that to happen.  White America, they have made clear, will not be allowed to “appropriate” this black man’s pain or his family’s pain — or to feel universal aversion to something everyone knows is wrong.

That is clearly not enough.

In order to “divide and conquer” and most of all, get rid of Donald Trump, all of America must bleed.  And bleed she is.  All innocent policemen will be sacrificed in this scorched earth policy and there will be no one standing at the end.  The numbers in no way reflect the genocide they want you to believe this act represents — it represents the act of one idiot or insane man (if in due process this video truly represents what went on) and nearly all of the left is walking in lockstep to do this.  Nine unarmed black people died in 2019 (even though that might mean they  had a gun on the front seat) and 19 unarmed white people died at the hands of the police in 2019.   The numbers of white people equal the number of black people overall killed in “police encounters.”  About 230 black people killed; same number of whites.  Most crime happens in inner cities where black people equal or outweigh numbers of white people, so those numbers are unexpectedly low.

Why don’t they post the number of dead police officers trying to defend you and me against violent criminals of all colors? The number was 106 in 2019.  During 911 they were some of the first to rush into that building, they die or are hurt regularly doing a thankless job and now for their efforts they will be fired, not served in restaurants, and basically demonized for the foreseeable future as white sports figures cave under the enormous pressure to get in lockstep.  My  husband, as mayor of our small town many years ago, hired a police chief, a white man.  Of course, you’ll say.  I came home one day to see him personally, not one of his guys, rolling around the ground with my neighbor, a mentally ill man who hadn’t taken his meds and had attacked his girl friend.  He was not making a sound, no shouting, nothing to escalate the situation, and when the man got tired, I watched Larry, nose bleeding and scratches all over his face, lead the man calmly toward his police car.   I was within ten feet of them and I never even heard him yell or order this man, pull a weapon, or do much to dominate this person.  It was hard to figure out how he even got control of the situation.  It was so strangely quiet, it was cartoonish. Previously, when they needed to make a drug arrest and the powers that be wanted swat teams, Larry walked up to the front door himself and calmly arrested the guy so that innocent people, and even the perpetrator, were not harmed.  He went with Larry without incident.

This, no doubt, is more representative of your average policeman.

If you condemn the violence of these rioters, even if you agree with all the peaceful protesting surrounding this tragedy, you are “part of the problem.”  That is what my “best friend,” a supposed life-long and at times judgmental Christian posts on her Facebook page about people like me.  Accept your collective white guilt — and all policemen symbolize such — even black police chiefs trying to do their jobs — or face the consequences.  Black Lives Matter, on their site, wants all prisoners released, reparations, a guaranteed income, free education and more.  And the progressive white elite want to use it to unseat Donald Trump when weaponizing the justice department and falsely accusing him of being a traitor failed to do it.

And it might.

What’s gone on here in the last three years to our country will likely never be repaired in my lifetime.

Disband police departments–that’s what the cry is now and it appears some of the major cities are doing just that.  And I see no reason for the police departments or security people to protect Schumer, Pelosi, Biden, or the rest of them.  I think the social workers they propose to send in on our behalf– should arrive for the progressive left politicians.   See how that works out for them. Let them live under that which they intend we live.

If you went through graduate school (and I have my MFA from a small school in Michigan Upper Peninsula–especially if you are an English major), you took what they call “literary theory.”  This is the class in which you learn that the author and the individual (and soon even the novel–which is an individual expression) is dead.  Universalism is dead.  This is the class where we throw out the baby with the bathwater.  For instance, if a minority person shares a story of pain from their life experience, and you as a white person, say, “Oh, I can understand that pain,” based on some close experience, a university professor will say, “Oh no you do NOT understand.  You are appropriating their pain and minimizing it just by your very empathy.”  Even though it’s what we have in common as human beings that led us to appreciate the uniqueness of everyone else in the first place.   That desire for freedom, love, family, food, a roof over our heads, and the pursuit of happiness. We are no longer allowed to feel that human connection.  And of course, divide and conquer is what the progressives need to achieve their socialist agenda and they WILL have it.

So the killing of George Floyd AND the violence in the street cannot both be wrong in today’s politically correct narrative.

I have never been a death penalty advocate because “free will” is hard to prove–I’m a mixed philosopher — so perhaps they had no choice–mental illness, poverty, other environmental influences caused them to behave that way and violence is not remedy for violence (Floyd had been arrested for armed robbery, was a drug addict, and –nobody knows — seems to have been passing counterfeit money).  But he is a product of our society, the left wails.  He is your fault.

And he is a martyr.

Well then, so is Chauvin.  But he, too, is the fault only of the white privileged, they argue.

It is all our faults.   I as a woman apparently am to blame for every crazy woman who kills her children or her husband for insurance money. We are all to blame and represent serial killers.  They are not aberrations and outliers–they are apparently us.  Black people kill more black people than white people do-again, our fault.

I beg to differ. We are ALL to blame here and that is what we have in common!

It’s what we have in common in the human condition and violence is never justified except in imminent self defense.  Not ever.   Progressives are ends justifies the means people, and there’s no end of individuals who must be sacrificed to the collective good of today for this globalist, socialist movement.

So I, according to my friend, am not allowed to cry for George Floyd at all unless I understand that this violence is necessary.  Peaceful protesting of America’s lockdown or the desire to peacefully gather in a church was murderous and selfish and not allowed; but mass gatherings –most of them at least partially violent — are fine in the name of a left agenda.  Breathe all over each other as long as it achieves our aims.

What it boils down to is the left has rights in any situation (all women are not believed anymore when it’s Joe Biden), and conservatives have none.  15% of them are “bad people,” according to Biden.  But George Floyd, who bears absolutely no responsibility for his actions or the situation he found himself in, is a martyr and certainly one of the “good” people.  A gentle giant, they say.

I, according to  my friend, belong in that 15%.

Louise Erdrich, a fabulous literary writer, is half German and have Native American.  She was criticized for caring more about postmodernism than she did about the abuses to –and marginalization of –Native Americans because she dared to see not only those of her ancestors who were lynched, but those that had done the lynching, as victims of a sad history.  Perhaps she was referring to the guilt she felt passed down by her white fathers who had behaved this way and nothing she can do about it–or perhaps she just has compassion for all people and the unfairness of the human condition.  As half white, half Indian she was searching for a way to heal, perhaps to reconcile all the pain of her heritage, to bring people finally together, but that was not allowed.   Even from her unique perspective.  She was not allowed an individual perspective, but must, instead, speak for the “other” as an oppressed group.  And if not, her work was nothing.

So how do I feel seeing my friend post garbage like this?  (And I have more liberal friends than conservative who are posting this stuff).  Helpless and betrayed.

And ineffably sad.  Words cannot express how sad.

“Groups” and the bloodless ideals of them, “causes” whether they are socialists or conservatives or Christians, dehumanize and separate us forever.  It is only an individual voice that has a chance of communicating with another individual voice–and that, it seems, is being silenced forever.  Become one of those sheep, part of our progressive agenda, part of that group, or you are part of the problem.   Burn it all down with us –even though this country is the best version of imperfect government there is –so much so that people flood our borders to come here — or you will burn individually because individuality and universalism is dead.

And so are you.

my 2009 vauxhall insignia was hit from behind sitting at a car park space in a supermarket,there is substantial amount of damage to the right hand arch right above the back wheel,the back bumper is also broken,it was hit that hard it was pushed onto the car park space in front of it,i believe what saved it from any further damage was the driver of the other car hit the wheel of my car which i guess cushioned the blow.i have went today and got estimates for the repair which is in the region of 2500 pounds though could be more as they have to put it on some sort of machine to see if the wheel alignment is of,the repair shops say what they will do is cut the arch out and put a new arch in and spray it but no matter what its never going to be the same.the reason they do it like this is because the whole back of my car runs to the front without any splits. Im not happy about this being done like this as this car today is worth around 10,000 pounds which i pay for and dont want it patched up,i would prefer if the other guys insurance wrote it off so that i can get an original car which i first had,is there anyway i can get this to be wrote of and claim it of the guys insurance,i have heard of depreciation money if my car has been hit but this is still not going to compensate me for my car being patched up. thanks""

Hi, I'm 24, male. I plan on getting the Yamaha R6-I'll be financing the bike. I have some questions regarding to insurance of the bike. My friend owns a 06 Suzuki GSXR750, it was his first bike, and he is a fresh bike rider also. But his full coverage is only $120/month. While searching online (geico, Progressive, allstate), I find out that the full coverage for the bike itself is $487/month-which I found strange. Because I'm older than my friend, he's 22. I understand that you need full coverage(collision, comprehensive coverage) when you're financing a bike. My friend is also financing the bike. But how come his full coverage is way cheaper than what I've searched for? I also picked the $500 deductible on Comprehensive and Collision too. But the lowest I got was $487/month-if not $880/month. When I decline the Comp and Coll, my coverage is only $84/month. Why is there a big gap for my full coverage comparing to my younger friend with a bigger cc bike? 600 vs. 750.""
