Security Meeting with @InkedSoul_
Tyson: -I had finally gotten all the wolves together minus a couple that were late, it only took a couple minutes of us talking about what happened to decide that we would all have to take shifts watching the property. I had questioned the two wolves that were coming in when I smelled the stranger and they confirmed they did as well but said the run went fine as did the delivery. They said the normal players were all there for the delivery as expected and the money was deposited where it needed to be with no problems. Both said that when they got back into property they noticed that there was a car a couple miles back with no one in it and they thought the same thing I did, possibly a hunter. If that’s what this really was just someone looking for a place to hunt then it really was time to get the fence up and get this property listed as a wildlife refuge. That way if by chance someone did see one of the wolves they would just think that we were housing wolves here. Everyone agreed patrols would not be done alone and everyone would have to report to me when they finished. That’s when one of the wolves and Tanner busted in the meeting, I knew they were late but I worried with the looks on their faces as to why. The younger wolf excited and going on about how he saw a man in the woods and he saw him but couldn’t tell anything about him being human. Tanner confirmed and said the man had come up to his porch and asked him to use the phone. Tanner explained that’s why he was late and that he let him use his phone and told him that no one was supposed to be out in the woods because of the wildlife that was around here. He said the man asked a few questions but Tanner thought he didn’t catch on or anything. My face went from worry to anger. What the fuck was I going to do about this? Now I just needed to wait for Javier to get here so we could talk about what he thinks is going on-
Javier: <“I hate when you do this, Boss. You never know…” I shook my head at him over my shoulder and continued rifling through my closet for a casual leather jacket that I knew damn well I had stuffed in there somewhere.> Aha!
<I yanked the soft black leather jacket free of its hanger, then spun around to face my bodyguard as I tugged the jacket on. I glanced in the mirror, smoothing my hand over any stray hairs and smiled at my causal as I get appearance.> Breno, we have this discussion every time I go to meet with a distributor. It’s important that they believe I trust them and by showing up alone, it gives that appearance. Besides, we both know you and Henrique will not be far behind.
<I raised a brow, daring Breno to argue with me. If he or Henrique thought I didn’t know they followed me to every meet in the off chance something did happen, then they were not as smart as they appeared. He let out a low chuckle, “Figured you knew we were there. Why put on the appearance then?” I tucked my billfold into my back pocket and hooked my sunglasses onto the collar of my simple white Armani tee for now.> As I said, it builds trust if I show up alone. Campbell has done nothing to prove he cannot be trusted. Besides, if there are others watching the camp, watching the business side of things at least, what better bait to draw them out with. After, you both can either meet up with Julian and Michael to see what they’ve discovered.
<I scooped up the keys to the blacked out Ridgeline and started towards the door, “I still don’t like this.” I turned with a wry grin> You don’t have to, I’m the boss, remember.
<He nodded slowly and ground his teeth, “Be safe, hit your alert if needed and we’ll be there before you blink.” I waved dismissively over my shoulder and headed out the door. The drive to the meet was uneventful and quiet, thanks to the truck’s soundproofing. It might be quite what he expected when he told me to use a truck rather than my usual sportier look but he’d have to deal with it. I was a creature of luxury. I passed through the gates with a nod from those watching for me, then parked where I was directed to go. From there, I hopped out of the truck and walked to the door of the building, giving a slight rap of my knuckles, though I figured he was already alert to my presence.>
Tyson: -Turning my head when I smelled Javier hit property line and pull up in a truck, strange that he was in something he didn’t normally drive. I was used to seeing him in something more fancy than a pickup. I walked to the door when I heard his light knock and answered- We have problems, Javier. There’s been a stranger in the woods on the property and he ran into one of my younger runner wolves and then walked up to the porch of one of my older wolves and used his phone. Tanner says he used the phone and he watched the man walk off the property and he was sure that he didn’t turn back or snoop. I uh… -motioning for him to follow me into the kitchen and grabbing a couple Corona’s from the fridge. I open the top and hand it to Javier- I think we need to build a tall fence with barbwire and label this property as a wildlife rescue to keep hunters from wandering on the property. The other wolves said they figured that’s why he was here but Tanner says he said that he explained that his car had broken down a couple miles back and needed to call for help… What do you think?
Javier: <My brow shot up at the lack of greeting and rushed words coming from Tyson. This was a far cry from the nervous man I’d first met. I listened carefully as I followed him to the kitchen. I took in all the information as I grabbed the beer and nodded slowly. This was falling into line with what my own men had told me. Someone was encroaching on the territory and getting too close. For me it would affect my business but for the wolves, it could be far more dangerous. I took a long pull of the bottle and weighed the options. A fence would be good to protect them. I couldn’t confirm if this was the other cartel until I had more information but it wasn’t a risk I was willing to take. It didn’t sound like Tyson was either. I nodded slowly and leaned against the counter with my hip> I think a fence would be a good idea. If you need funds or manpower, let me know and I will make arrangements. My men have noticed an increase in outsiders in the area as well and have been investigating the matter.
Tyson: -nodding as I listened to Javier’s agreeing and ideas. I had already known how this fence was going to happen as in the time I came from it was already up, just years later. With all these decisions I’ve already made being different and changing the course of my past I had to focus on what I was doing now and how it would ripple to the future.- The man power will be needed because I can’t trust strangers to come onto the property and build something in the midst of what we’re doing here and who we are. You don’t think these could be cops do you? I’ve been careful about where the money is pushed through and all of the businesses are up and running smoothly. I haven’t seen any cops around the city and none of the wolves have mentioned anyone sniffing around. I did have the mayor ask me why I was buying a bunch of properties around town and I explained that I was investing my father's trust into the city which got him off my back. I don’t think we’ll get much kickback if I list this place as a wildlife refuge. We’ve had issues with the deer population around here being over hunted. -shrugging as I finish off my beer- I could use the guidance honestly. -I didn’t want to sound unprepared and like I couldn’t handle this but all the possibilities had my mind going a thousand miles a minute-
Javier: <Tyson barely made the request before I was mentally organizing a crew to come out. I had several on my payroll who were efficient and knew how to keep their mouths shut. My brows pinched at his question and I shook my head> I know you’ve been careful, I wouldn’t be here otherwise. I wouldn’t offer this as a permanent situation if I thought otherwise either. The Mayor is a nosy asshole who was likely looking for a payout. It’ll be handled and he should leave you alone after. As for it being cops, we’re looking into it.
<I took another slow pull of my beer and then set I on the counter behind me.> From what I can tell, you’re doing a good job with getting things running as your father had, however we both know that sometimes how things were run before are not always the best way going forward. I’m sure the fence was not built before for whatever reason, but I think that it’d be a nice safe haven. Perhaps a bunker underground as well would be prudent. Not for a full time situation but you never know what might spring up. We can push through the paperwork to get this land classified as a wildlife refuge easy enough, though I’m not sure that’s the best course of action since it could be required to be open to the public. Maybe if we classify it as a conservation area or even a sanctuary, that would be more advantageous. That way it’s protected from any unauthorized intrusions.
<I pulled out my phone and started typing up a message regarding everything, my eyes darting to Ty every now and then> I’ll send my guy out to talk to you regarding what you want for the wall. You don’t want it to feel like a prison or cage I’m assuming. I’d suggest lining the outer walls with trees to kind of camouflage it, that might help keep some of the busy bodies out.
Tyson: -Though I was listening to everything Javier had to say and taking it in because he was right with most everything, I found myself staring out towards the tree line. The wolves I knew wouldn’t care what kind of fence was put up so I wasn’t worried about that.- Concrete fence…. barbed wire at the top. Razor wire maybe. I need to keep the wolves as safe as possible they’re my family. The bunker sounds like an idea but, I’ll have to have a meeting with the pack and see what they want. I don’t want to scare their mates or the younger wolves. -sighing loudly. I felt a little overwhelmed with everything happening and how quickly everything was going to need to go up. I didn’t mind but it felt like a lot.- My father cared about himself and his beta. Everyone else including my mother and myself were expendable. The wolves that are here now, I grew up with them and they stayed when they didn’t have to. I also don’t want your men in danger either. Dead bodies and funerals are hard to excuse away no matter how much money we throw at people. I have the wolves that aren’t running from the border doing patrols along the property. Everyone is watching. I know you normally only keep a couple of guys out here but I think we could probably use a few more since the property is so big. There are a couple empty houses on the left side of the property and the house just down from here is empty if you feel like you want to be here as well.
Javier <I lifted a brow as I listened to Tyson explain the wall he was thinking of going with. Obviously he would know better than I would as to what would make the wolves feel threatened. I gave a slight nod> The bunker is just an idea. Somewhere they can go if needed, perhaps with an escape set back a few miles outside of the walls. I, personally, find it is always a good idea to have multiple plans in place, just in case things go south in a hurry. Especially with young ones being present. Discuss it with your people and then we can work it into the budget if needed.
<I tipped my head to watch him as he then went on about his family, blood and otherwise. I calculated the size of the territory and the amount of product being moved. I had a few guys in mind that wouldn’t hesitate for the chance to live on the quieter side of life. > I can spare a few men to live out here on a more permanent basis, they would blend in easier too I’m certain. The others I’ve been sending will continue to rotate out. Though…
<I furrowed my brows as I thought of Julian and Michael staying at the hotel and nodded to myself> I have two men who’ve been staying in town, they got wind of someone they have a history with snooping around. If you brought them in to the land, they’d better be able to identify certain tells. Julian has a brother who thinks he’s destined to be a big player in this game, sadly he hasn’t the brains. It causes more trouble than he’s worth. I will increase my own visits, but I don’t think you need me looking over your shoulder, Tyson.
Tyson: -nodding because Javier was right about having a second plan for just in case of a need for a plan B. Leaning back against the counter in the kitchen and crossing my legs at the ankle.- I’ll have a meeting soon and talk with the wolves and get their input and let you know as soon as possible. Family seems to cause us issues from time to time but blood can cause someone to make decisions they wouldn’t normally make. I wouldn’t tell you how to run your men or who to trust but, when a gun is pointed to your sibling’s head decisions get made. I would be careful and if you think this might be tied to that we should be prepared for anything. I assume what you and I discuss stays between us? I don’t want your men to feel uncomfortable but knowing there’s family out there that could cause some problems you know I’ll have to be watching closely. Not just for the safety of the wolves, but for you too. -clearing my throat awkwardly- You’re welcome to come and go as you need to. The key to the house is hanging here in the living room it’s key set number 3. You’re not a bother here, the opposite actually. Your opinion and help has been appreciated. I’m new to all this and have only had troubles like this a couple times in my past and nothing to this extreme. I’ll take whatever advice I can get. If your men agree to living on property have them stop by and see me and I’ll get them the keys to their houses so they can get settled. Email me their info when they agree so I can send the info to the wolves and they can be prepared for our new tenants.
Javier: <I let out a breathless chuckle and shook my head> I am familiar with blood ties and how they can affect things. Julian’s brother nearly killed him once, believe me when I say he will not have a second opportunity to do so. Michael will make sure of that if Julian hesitates. Julian has been waiting for this chance to even the score so to speak. He knows what to look for, which I find very beneficial.
<My lips quirked up at the corner, amusement evident on my face> The only ones who will know what was discussed in detail are in this room. My men will know what is needed and no more. I’ve found that the best way to operate.
<My lips curved into a full on smile at that little nugget of information and I crossed my arms over my chest before I responded> I may look like I live a soft life, Tyson, but I promise, I can look after myself. You focus on your family here and I will aid in that. You have my number and you can reach me anytime. I will meet with Breno and Henrique to set up more security around town and then get you Julian and Michael’s information. Meet with them, listen to what they have to offer and if you are not comfortable with them staying here, I will send others. First and foremost, this is your land and your home and while the overall territory is mine to protect so that others do not disturb what I’ve established here, what you have going on here, that is not something I can interfere with lightly. I will not step on your toes when it comes to that as long as my business venture is secured. And that will include my part in keeping you safe.
<I gave another nod before pushing off the counter, hand clapping on his shoulder as I began to pass> Stay safe and you will hear from me soon. Have a good evening, Tyson.
<I squeezed his shoulder and then passed by. I knew my men were close and that if I didn’t move soon they’d be all storming in. I shook my head and hopped back into the pick up truck, already dialing up Henrique on the bluetooth before I even made it off the properly line>
