Anyway please see below for the ask! (it’s pretty long)

He was grooming one of the ponies when he saw you standing behind a tent peeking at him curiously and when he turned round properly, you quickly scampered away and he got worried so he followed you to the room you share to see you sitting on the bed with a wine red book propped up in your lap but upon his return, you immediately hid it behind your back, smiling widely at him

He wonders what it was but decides not to pry, but he later discovers it was actually a sketchbook when he’s packing up for tomorrow and you’re taking a bath and the sketchbook drops out of your pack and onto the floor, opening at a random page

He picks it up with the intention to return it to your bag but then he sees the various drawings of him in his Ancient Armour set, Hylian and Snowquill set. They’re fully coloured and it looks like you’ve spent hours on them. He didn’t know you were this artistic and wondered why you hid this from him

The date you wrote on the bottom of the page indicates that you drew all this in one day! He’s super impressed

Then he sees the note you wrote below: “To my Dearest Link, I hope you like my drawings of you. All I can think about is how lucky I am to be able to be by your side, you’ve changed my life for the better and-”

Obv half complete so now he knows why you didn’t want to show him and he respects your privacy, so he puts the sketchbook away

Outside, he sees Beedle and goes over to see what’s new for sale. Beedle has some cool art stuff (well, it’s more like stuff that can be used for dye but can also be used as paint) so he buys some for you as a present which he will give to you later.

Next day, you get chased by a group of Bokogoblins and the book and all your drawing supplies drops out from your bag.

You didn’t see it drop and returned to the stable, ransacking your bag like crazy only to find your stuff missing

When you realise everything must have dropped out when you got chased, you quickly leave the stable to go back to the area but it’s thunder and lightning so Link chases after you

“Link, what are you doing? Go back, the weather’s awful.” You tell him but he shakes his head, unable to leave you alone in the rain like this

He helps you with your search and you end up locating your book and your supplies which are lying in the mud

The book has been trampled over and some of the pages have been torn out. The remaining pages are soaked with dirt and grime. Your pencils are snapped in half and your paints have been left to bleed all over the grass. All of your drawings are ruined, too. This is your worst nightmare.

Link observes you silently as tears begins to form in your eyes and you look at him, sniffling slightly.

You’re experiencing a mixture of devastation, frustration, anger and exasperation - from your carelessness to the stupid bokogoblins - and this incident infuriates you so much you throw the book to the ground angrily

Before you can march away, Link grabs your wrist

Turning round, your gazes meet and he looks at you softly, intently.

‘What’s wrong?’ he is saying.

“I was going to use those to confess to you!” you end up roaring out by accident.

Link looks at you, a little stunned

“N-Never mind! Everything’s ruined!!!!”

You’re about to storm off again when Link suddenly pulls you into his chest and gives you a hug

“!” you’re so shocked you can’t speak

He pulls away though, and leads you to the hollow of a nearby tree trunk where he gestures for you to sit down to shelter from the rain whilst he glances around, then sprints back over to where the ruined sketchbook is

He picks it up and holds it against his chest as if it’s dear to him. That’s not all, you watch as he begins to pick up the remaining pages that were torn out and once he’s collected them all he returns to you, clutching the pages tightly

"Link...” you murmur breathlessly as he he kneels down in front of you before he fishes around in his pockets to reveal a random bunch of paint pots in his hand.

You’re a little confused, but realise he has some spares which he must have bought from a merchant

it’s not much but...

he nudges it to you for your offering

You gawp at him for a few moments before you smile and chuckle and upon seeing you back to your usual self again, Link smiles and helps you back onto your own feet to stand

You thank him as you cradle the paints to yourself. You will need to restart from scratch from somehow it feels ok and something tells you you don’t need to hide it from him anymore

And you return to the stable, sheltering from the rain by sharing a large leaf together

Kaeya

Let’s begin with the fact that alongside you, there is a maid who also likes Kaeya as much as you do and she’s a bit of a sneaky bugger and you don’t show your drawings to anyone or watermark your artwork until they’re complete. You can probably see where this is going

One day, Kaeya finds out you are drawing a picture of him when he comes to your office to inform you that there’s a group of abyss mages outside Mondstadt so you hurry off to dispatch it and leaving Kaeya in your office

He accidentally comes across your drawing when he sees his face on a piece of parchment and his interest is piqued so he heads over to check it out

It’s a really good sketch!!! the amount of detail is insane! he had no idea you possessed such skill and who knew that you could create such beautiful art like this? He also finds some rough doodles and sketches you made earlier on some scrap paper you had also written on so he knows it’s you

Anyway, he puts everything back to join you in battle, but not before passing a maid along the way who is heading to your room to clean up

She comes across your drawing and she’s always fancied Kaeya herself, so for some reason other than just thinking she might be able to get away with it if she’s sneaky enough, she takes your drawing and sets off with it

Meanwhile, you return to your room after the battle, take off your coat and sit comfortably in your chair, reaching for your quill

“Ah, time to get back to my drawing of Kaeya.” you say with a smile, looking at your desk.

Wait a minute.

Something is wrong.

Very wrong.

It’s GONE!

After checking the rest of your office (and its clearly not there), you rush outside, wondering what happened to it when you see Kaeya and a maid talking in the corridor

they didn’t see you, so you quickly hide

“Please accept this, captain Kaeya!” gushes the maid, presenting your drawing to him. “I drew this picture of you to show how much you mean to me.”

What in the Samachurl shit is this?

You’re about to storm over when Kaeya takes the drawing with a delicate brow raised, studies it intently and goes, “Oh? But I’m not so sure about that.”

“W-what do you mean, Captain Kaeya?”

“There’s no watermark on it,” he points out, “....one could’ve taken anyone’s artwork and claim that it’s theirs.”

“T-That’s - ! Ah, Captain Kaeya, h-how could you think so lowly of me?”

“I’m only just stating some simple facts, that’s all. You won’t hold that against me, will you? And I’m certainly not accusing you of anything...unless you...?”

“Oh....uh....I...I-I’m so sorry, Captain Kaeya, you’re right! I-I....please excuse me!”

The maid’s too embarrassed to proceed any further and leaves, running away.

Indeed, what in the samachurl hell had just happened?

It goes quiet and you wonder if he’s still there; you step out of your hiding place only to go nose-to-chest with Kaeya.

He greets you with a smirk. “if it isn’t the little kitten, what are you doing here?”

“Um...uh, I....that....that drawing - “

What he said is right, there’s no watermark. How can you prove it’s yours? Would he believe you if you told him?

“Hm? Ah, yes, this drawing. I was going to keep it for myself.”

“No, wait! I mean...er...it’s not finished yet-”

“So you drew this then?”

“Yes, I did. it was me.” Though you wonder if he would believe you after everything you had just heard.

“Why?”

You lamely tell him you really like him and wanted to use it to confess to him.

He watches you for a few seconds, then hands the drawing to you. “I’ll wait until you’ve finished then.”

“Huh?” You gasp. He gave it back to you so easily despite what he said to the maid! “You...you’re not-”

“I knew it was you who drew it. I recognised your style.”

“Then why didn’t you say so earlier?”

“If I said so earlier, how else would I get you to confess to me?”

“KAEYA!!!”

(from then on he’ll want you to draw him more often)

Childe

Saw you sitting on the grassy hill near Qingxu Pool drawing earlier and because he is good at sneaking up on people, you didn’t hear him as he casually leaned over to peek over your shoulder and said, “Hey girlie, what’re you up to?”

You’re like “UWAGH!” and quickly close your sketchbook before turning round to see Childe.

“N-nothing!” you exclaim, before you get up and run down the hill, leaving a very amused Childe on his own

Later, when you’ve finished your masterpiece, you nervously approach Childe and tell him, “Um....this is for you, let me know what you think.” before rushing off in a blushing mess and Childe will open the sketchbook to see that you’ve drawn a very nice portrait of him in a battle stance, wielding his bow, surrounded by his hydro blades

Then he sees the words ‘do you like me?’ scribbled at the very bottom

He’s used to giving people gifts but now that he’s received something so thoughtful, he’s a bit overwhelmed. he can tell you put so much effort and hardwork into this. Ah, what is this feeling?

He closes the book without further ado and scrubs a hand over his face

he actually wasn’t expecting you to do this. he knew you were drawing him but the result is really....something else

You don’t hear him from Childe in a few days and you are so nervous and worried.

Is this a rejection? Maybe he didn’t like your picture after all...

You’re walking in the streets and sigh and sit on the stone steps of Liyue, staring at the sea, upset and dejected

But then you hear a whistle from behind and throw a glance over your shoulder to see Childe standing on a higher step, a hand in his pocket

“Hey girlie, heads up,” he tosses a paper plane into the air which makes this little loop before you stand to catch it

Looking up, Childe has gone

You unfold the paper plane to its proper size to reveal that Childe’s drawn a little sketch of you in return and he has written: ‘Yes I do’.

Oh god, I just had a TERRIBLE thought /pos

So like,,,in Pony Island and Inscryption, we get a name for who we're playing as. In PI, we play as Theodore, and then in Inscryption, we play as Luke Carder (or Kaycee in KM) ...But despite the player themself being an integral part in The Hex (helping complete the hex ritual, and irving directly talks to the player at one point in Lazarus' section), we never actually learn who it is in universe. And it being an in-universe character we're playing as makes more sense, considering Theodore and Luke.

So this kinda. Sparked a thought in my mind, technically two. So, outside of, like, Bandito7, Reginald, and Lou (and the random streamer bandito mentions during The Sphynx's boss battle, plus I'm not entirely sure we actually get Reginald's proper name til Inscryption), we only get 2 named real-world characters in the entirety of the game. And you guys get to sit here and read about me going into detail about why both options are both cruel in their own ways.

First, my girlboss blorbo herself, Carla Dosa. We learn in Walk how Lionel feels about her, and we know that Carla was willing to go to extreme measures to ruin Lionel's fucking life, even using satanic methods to make Sado an INCREDIBLY powerful game character. Even without including Sado specifically, we know she modded the Boss Rush mod in Waste World, which Lionel shows to have veeeery negative feelings about the modders. So, if we were going through The Hex as Carla, form her perspective, shes seeing all these characters that her ex-boss and ex-friend either created or bought, learning about why each of them are here, and seeing what the hell is up with Reggie, the whole "Lionel wants this" event. Maybe she takes that at face value, believing Irving just as Reggie did. Maybe she listened to the files Lionel sent her beforehand, knowing Lionel felt bad. Maybe she knew Lionel was better than that back then, knowing he didn't really mean any harm by wanting to get rid of Reggie. But that scene plays out, and she's pretty much powerless to stop what happens next. She puts her cursor over the empty space, and moments later, she's seeing the guy she hated most getting murdered, and she knows exactly who did it. She sees the character she used to ruin his life escape into the real world, and only Carla would know the real danger behind that. Maybe she's looking for Sado now, going on a wild goose chase as Sado continues hurting people

And then there's the even worse possibility. We play as Lionel. He plays through each of his games again, worried about his characters that he's now been forced to come to terms with about being sentient. He recognizes Reggie, knows exactly who he is, despite none of the patrons ever referring to him by name. He plays along in Lazarus' chapter, learns what The Artifact is, what Irving was talking about a few weeks ago. He watches Irving get shot and killed, and tries to boot up the Gameworks program, but to no avail. He practically just sentenced someone to death, but at least thought 'thats it. The others are okay'. Maybe he'll reach out to Gamefuna about Irving's ai being gone. He plays through Walk, reminiscing at old memories. Feeling bad for putting the SoL failure on Carla. Maybe he considers trying to find a way to reach out again, despite being blocked, to give a genuine apology. After he sees this through, first. And then he watches the "Lionel wants this" event. He's appalled, because that is *not* what he wanted. He wants to find a way to apologize to Reggie personally, because he honestly isn't sure if he can get Reggie to find his apology. He helps carry out their plan, because he's naive and stupid, the dots not connecting in his head. And then he sees himself on the screen, and by the time reality sets in, a hand is already launching itself out of his screen to kill him.

I honestly like the idea of Lionel being the player, because it makes sense as to how Reggie would be able to get to Lionel's computer specifically, despite the fact that Reggie would, for obvious reasons, *not* have any of his files on Lionel's computer. That and it is so incredibly fun yet heart wrenching to think about, the idea that Lionel unknowingly aided in his own death.

So my Bro in Law is the first on. He’s playing on Jamies account.

He starts zooming around the countryside even though I tell everyone to “call for pickup”

He’s all WHEEEE! LOOKIT ME GO!!! WOW I JUMP HIGH!

and then...

“I just got KILLED by a THRESHER!”

we tell him it happens, to stay away from them

(offended) WHY IS THERE A THRESHER?? I HAVE BEEN INJURED!!!!

Well stay out of the fields!! get back here!

HOW DO I GET BACK AT THE THRESHER?!?

Younger sister logs on “I’m looking at a window”. Tell her to call for pickup

“NO! I wanna see what this is!”

(30 seconds later) “I”M GOING TO THE CASTLE!!”

HOW ARE YOU ALREADY AT THE CASTLE?!?!

I AM IN THE CASTLE! I’M THE QUEEEN MUA HAHAHAH

Middle Sister is still waiting for it to load.

Brother opts not to play, but goes to open another bottle of wine

He says WTF every time I mention the quests in game- the oil fields, the corporations. the giant alien squid.

an HOUR later, we’re all on and wrangled in Moorland

I tell everyone if they want to change horses or outfits or use the potty, to do so now

Everyone is fine with their horse (my BiL- the old cremello, my sisters on a starter and one on the new jorvik pony)

we get on the road

Why is Zoe’s horse all magical and ours our plain?

I told you you could change them!!! You actually have the oldest model, but I love the color of it so I bought him

You gave EVERYONE else, NEW PRETTY HORSES but ME!??!

We get to Silverglade. One sister falls in to where the basement of the castle is. Kid goes to fetch her.

We ride through silverglade. I turn back to see if everyone is following.

They are running in circles around the middle fountain or whatever

“I was just following everyone else”

Ok this is taking way too long lol.

We did the Red String, with relatively few events. Sister and Brother in law wanted to see if they could fall off the cliff, which they DID. Sister is found by the kid, brother in law ends up on the Valedale side by the river. We FINALLY get back on track. they are freaked out by the log we have to walk across. A couple fall off but make it, little sister does not end up back up top- kid has to find her and bring her back to the trail.

We keep trying to have a weenie roast but there are no spots we can find. We go back to Moorland and ride to Fort Pint for the Disco. We have it to ourselves and dance and my sisters are cracking up at being able to break dance. They are cheering eachother on. Then a level 2 who’s asking for money and some other goth chick join us. The goth chick looks like she’s grinding on my brother in law. My sister is peeved that this gal insinuated herself in our group. She rolls a nat 20 in intimidation.

(Guys, please, she’s prolly 12)

ANYWAY, we tried to go to South Hoof to see Jorv-henge but one account didn’t have it so we ride to the observatory. Or try to. Two of us veered off to the vineyard “a vineyard? can we go wine tasting??!” YES CAUSE THATS TOTES A THING IN A KIDS GAME lol.

We fast travel to valedale again and ride to the observatory. “OK THAT STONE BRIDGE WAS BAD BUT THIS BRIDGE IS TOO HIGH I KNOW IN MY BRAIN ITS FAKE BUT IT”S SCARING ME”. Me too, yo, me too. We stop at the cafe for gossip.

“Can you believe that bitch at the disco?” “gurrrrrl”

ANYWAY after complaining about the height they were all up there going “What happens if I fall off?” and then YEET.

lol I had to pay for a month on three separate accounts but you know what? Worth it!

(please understand- this is our family’s weekly “zoom” meetup that we have done every saturday since the pandemic started. Mostly we play jackbox games or cards against humanity, and every now and then a movie. Last week we did a Twilight drinking game (it being a movie that NONE OF US had any interest in- no offense if u like it just not our cuppa chai), so this week I was like, fuck it, whatever why not. You guys want to come on a trail ride with me I literally have characters for all of you? And they were like, suuuuure, this may as well happen. So yeah this is my two sisters, my brother in law -all in our 40s- and of course my kids here who have accounts. I shall have to try again when Christmas rolls around. I’m pretty sure they’ll like the ice and my brother in law REALLY wanted to race. We have bets on whether he’ll open his own account)

The Amusement Park: An Obey Me Fanfic

It had been just another day in the devildom. RAD was bustling with students and teachers as everyone was rushing towards their classes. Ravina was headed towards her devildom history class, the last class of the hour when she heard a voice behind her.

"Ravina!!! Ravina wait up!!!"

She turned, her medium length raven hair pony tail sweeping as she turned her head. It was Luke. He seemed a bit out of breath trying to catch up to you.

"I've been looking for you everywhere!" He said.

"Well, you found me!" Ravina said with a grin. "What's up?"

Luke beamed, holding up two tickets to what looked to be an amusement park of sorts. "Simeon gave me these!" He said. "But Simeon's gonna be busy this weekend, so would you like to go instead?"

Ravina was a bit taken aback. "Me? Are you sure? Wouldn't you rather go with Solomon?"

Luke shook his head. "No it has to be you! Besides Solomon is a little weird. He wouldn't want to go to an amusement park."

Ravina chuckled at Luke's comment. She thought Solomon was pretty weird too. "Alright. Sounds like fun!"

Luke's face was literally the embodiment for happiness itself hearing your answer. "Great! Oh! And please don't tell the brothers! I just want it to be the two of us."

Ravina nodded with a wink. "See you this weekend then!"

And without a doubt the weekend came, and Ravina could barely hold back her excitement. She loved roller coasters. The thrill of an amusement park was simply amazing. Not to mention the fireworks they usually do at the end. As promised, Ravina didn't tell the other brothers anything. Simply that she wanted to go out alone for a day.

Ravina and Luke met up together and took a bus out to the amusement park. On the way there, they listed the rides they would go on, the foods they would eat, oh and of course who could forget photos. Luke was just tall enough to make the cut on the big kid roller coasters. While Ravina wanted to sit in the front row "for the adrenaline rush" Luke insisted that they sit in the middle. Ravina complied, after all, just getting to sit on the roller coaster itself was a dream come true. They ran around the amusement park for most of the day, trying out all the different rides, even some of the kiddy ones. They took lots of photos both together and of each other. Finally, it was close to sunset, and both of them felt awfully hungry. Trudging over to the cafeteria both of them got burgers with fries and milkshakes.

"Im stuffed" Luke said, laying back in his chair in the amuement park open Cafe.

Ravina laughed. "I guess that means you don't have any room for the waffle ice cream surprise." She said with a grin. "I hear its the best in town"

Of course Luke could never deny a sweet. After all, Micheal loved sweets and if Luke tried all of them out, he could make them.

"Wait here. I'll go get us some."

Ravina got up to go to the ice cream stand. She ordered a vanilla nutmeg waffle surprise for Luke and Chocolate chip cookie dough one for herself. She was waiting for her order to come up, when she heard a voice.

"Hey! Put Me Down!"

It was Luke. A gang of low class demons had come over to pick on him. "What a low life." Said one of them. "Don't you know angels don't belong in the devildom" said another. "Maybe we should pluck his wings" the third cackled.

"Don't you dare!" Luke wrung himself free from the demons grasp, only to end up on the floor.

"You little brat." The demon growled.

He was about to reach for Luke when suddenly a massive punch hit him across the face. It was Ravina. She had been a bit slow, after all, she was still human. But still managed to strike a blow on the demon. The demon stumbled back in surprise.

"Ravina!" Luke gasped.

"You leave Luke alone!" Ravina shouted at the demons.

The demon who had been hit snarled. "Your going to regret that." Ravina brought her arms up, to counter what ever attack she knew was coming, but was too slow. The demons were too fast for humans and the demons claws striked across Ravina's right bicep. It tore through her shirt right into her flesh, knocking her to the ground beside Luke. Ravina cried out in pain, as blood poured through her wound. She put her left hand over her bicep, applying pressure to the wound. She glared at the demons, anger and adrenaline rushing through her veins. The group of demons grinned wildly.

"Let's teach these brats a lesson shall we?" A fourth demon crowed.

"Not so fast." Within a split second a demon had his hands around the throat of the demon who had just spoke. It was Mammon. And in full demon form no less. "No one messes with my human." He growled, his eyes glowing with power.

Two of the demons begin to back up when they ran straight into Beelzebub. In his full demon form he looked even more muscular as he cracked his knuckles. "I'm hungry. And it looks like your on the menu."

The third demon tried slithering away when a tail lashed out tripping the demon to the ground. It was Belphegor. "I'm really going to enjoy this." The demon glowered, a fanged grin spreading across his face.

"Your doing it all wrong." A voice came from behind Ravina. It was Satan. She looked over at him as he ripped a part of his shirt. He tied the cloth tightly around Ravina's right bicep to stop the bleeding. "There. Now why don't you two, Levi and Asmo go get your ice cream and ahead home." Satan said with a wicked smile.

"Here." Asmodeous helped Ravina and Luke to their feet. "Oh no! Your beautiful bicep! I swear if that scars I'll never forgive those demons."

"Two waffle surprises here." It was Leviathan.

"Good. Now Levi, Asmo, get these two back to the House of Lamentation safely." Lucifer's voice beamed. "We'll take care of this."

The lower leveled demons cowered at the presence of Lucifer. Ravina, despite all the anger she felt, felt a bit sorry for them. She turned away from the fight, wincing a bit at the pain from her wound. "Come on Luke let's go."

Back at the House of Lamentation, Luke, Asmo, Levi and Ravina sprawled out in the living room. The ice cream Ravina had bought for her and Luke had been finished hours ago and it was nightfall. Luke felt awfully guilty that Ravina had been wounded, and Ravina insisted that Luke had no reason to feel guilty.

"Man, Satan, you are a real monster you know?" Mammon's voice came from across the hall as he entered the room.

"Personally, I would have done much worse." Lucifer stated as he followed.

"I could use a nap. Ravina! How are you feeling?" Belphegor stated, looking back to his sleepy, tired self.

"Better. Asmo got be some pain pills so..." Ravina trailed off. She felt awfully guilty for being so weak.

"Yes well, Ravina, I really must thank you." Satan said with a smile. "I haven't had that much fun in the past 200 years."

Ravina blinked. "What did..."

Mammon and Levi both shook their heads. "Its better if you don't know." Leviathan stated.

"Right...." Ravina said. " Wait. Where's Beel?"

"Here." Said a muffled voice behind a mountain of food and groceries. "I bought Luke some cake. And I got Ravina a mango dragon smoothie."

Ravina laughed. She highly doubted that they were actually gonna get the chance to eat any of it, but was grateful none the less. "I do have one question. How did you guys find us? I didn't tell you guys where I was going."

"Oh thats easy." Asmodeous said. "Mammon here followed you. And we followed him" Asmo said wrapping an arm around Mammon. To which Mammon replied with a prompt "hey!!!"

"Well im glad." Ravina said.

"Yes and next time please do tell us where your going. At least we'll know your safe." Lucifer said. Ravina nodded and agreed to be more careful next time. Everyone spent the rest of the night eating the food that Beel had brought. Even Luke had a good time after Ravina insisted he stay for dinner.

*Ravina and Luke only had one bite of cake before it was promptly devoured by Beel. However, Ravina shared her mango smoothie with all the demons, including Luke.

"Alright, do you PINKY PROMISE that you wont try to escape, Neo?"

Neo looped her pinky finger around that of Penny, and nodded.

"Okay! I will get you to a much safer location!" Penny ripped off the lock and opened ghe cell door. She grabbed Neo by the wrist and led her out. "I found out that I need to go back to Atlas today, and I hope I can take you with me!"

General Ironwood strolled out of the headmasters building. "You were right Penny, according to Ozpins secret records, Glynda DOES have a record of abusing her power with prisoners. Yet she has not ever mistreated a student as far as I can tell, so for now she remains the headmistress of Beacon, I am sorry Penny."

Penny normally would never go against what Ruby said, but she trusted Ironwood as much as she trusted her friend and calculated that he might be more mature.

"Thats okay Genny! Can we take Neo back with us? I dont think she is safe here..."

General Ironwood thought about it. "If you keep her handcuffed throughout the trip, and dont let her hand off of her the whole time until she is secured, we can on one condition..."

"Yes?"

"Dont call me Genny ever again. Its General Ironwood. Or just Ironwood. Or just General. Not. Genny."

"Okay! Can we take RUBY too?"

General Ironwood smiled and shook his head. "I know you love her, but she has to stay here at Beacon."

He totally shipped them. And not on one of those small ships either. One of the big Atlas battlecruisers.

After cuffing Neo properly, Penny led her inside the Atlas ship as they were about to leave. Penny felt a little bad about disobeying Ruby and getting the authorities involved but she calculated it was the best course of action. Besides, what was Ruby going to do? They were girlfriends, and Penny didnt have to always do what she said!

Meanwhile, Neo was amazed by the interior of the ship. It was so big and open! There was a fountain and palm trees! Beautiful Atlas people were all over the place! There was a massive picture of a womans head sticking up out of a boot! There were bridges overhead leading to various doors, with pillars and chains holding the bridges up. On the ground floor she could even see small shops selling various foods and luxery items!

"General Ironwood! Can you buy me one of those please??" Penny begged while pointing with her free hand at a shop selling t-shirts. One type they were selling were Ruby T-shirts.

He said no, though. He bought her a Ruby popsicle last time and she just ate it. He didnt want to buy her a shirt just to have her eat it.

Neo expected the inside of the ship to be boring but it was actually very nice. There were of course soldiers and robots everywhere, as it was a military ship. But since it so rarely got in a fight, most people just seemed to be having a good time.

"General Ironwood can we go to the pool?"

"Do you have any damage on your synthetics?"

"No sir!"

He looked at Neo. "She cant swim. Shes handcuffed. So unless you want to stay in the wading area while holding onto her, I suggest you just go to your room."

"Awe... Okay.."

Penny led Neo to her room, not that Neo really had a choice where they went. She was again surprised. There was a large aquarium full of fish and crabs that wall filled with decor, a plexiglass window that took up the whole wall (during fights the metal hull would close over it though) and a bed that was literally just a pile of hay. Ruby posters and art covered the wall the hay was up against, and a communications station sat by the giant window. There was also a small bookshelf containing the entirety of the Monster Prom series and My Little Pony and The Real World™

(the last series was one only Ironwood liked, really. But he thought it was educational and interesting so he gave it to Penny, who like most readers thought the 2016 election ending was unrealistic and stopped reading after that.)

Penny flopped onto the hay, dragging Neo with her.

Neo wanted to ask why her bed was just hay, but Penny was explaining it already. "Doesnt laying on this hay instead of an industrial robot transport box make you feel like a real girl, Neo? It seems so natural! I feel like I am a real creature when laying here!"

Neo always felt like a real creature but she nodded anyway.

"We are going to have lots of fun, dont look so sad! Just wait until tomorrow! Im sorry you have to be locked up all the time..." Penny tried to cheer her up and kissed her on the cheek like Ruby. Neo blushed and suddenly there was ice cream.

"Neo! This bed takes forever to clean, dont make that here!" Penny said, not really mad but making Neo blush more anyway. As cute as Penny was, she missed Roman Torchwick an awful lot.

Hhhh bunni legs pain accomplishment day

I HAVE FINISHED THE SHOPPING OF HELL

Tfw u only get paid 4 days before christmas and have to rush everything aaaa

It was bad enough today so i'm so glad i got it done before it got even more busy!

Misc boring essentials i bought for myself: new phone charger cos broken, new trousers cos i spilt hair bleach on my only two pairs, new shoes cos my left shoe literally snapped in half down the middle like wtf even happened there, cheap pink hair dye from a discount store cos i wanna try different colours but in a thrifty way

Now for EXCITING CHRISTMAS PRESENT TIME!!!!

First off SO MANY pc and xbox 360 games from Every Charity Shop In Cardiff, St Mellons, Rumney and Llanrumney. My sis has been trying to find some games to play but was like 'dont worry about it i can just wait til the charity shop gets something good'. So i thought i'd get some stocking stuffers via all the charity shops on my side of town. By our powers combined we will blitz the entire vale of glamorgan's discount gaming scene!!! I found SO MANY good stuff for £1/£2/£3 like holy shit i love when charity shops dont know the proper price for shit XD

speaking of which i also found a WEBCAM for £2! If its that cheap it probanly isnt great but itd still be fun to play around with! :D and the same store also had an old vintage G1 My Little Pony coffee mug in excellent condition. Oh god the nostalgia! My support worker gave me a lift to llanrumney so i had to awkwardly explain why i had an armful of weird 80s mugs and big teary eyes!

Speaking of vintage, i found this new vintage toys and games shop in cardiff called Galactic Attic! The name hooked me in and then they actually DID have pokemon inside! As well as all sorts of stuff ranging from 40s to 90s, wow! There was even a lil pile of old 90s gaming magazines in the corner, covered up by a bunch of boxes. I'm glad i noticed them! I got the announcemt issues for pokemon diamond pearl and platinum in a weird old pokemon fan magazine that i loved as a kid. Im kinda sad that nowadays we just have one official magazine fpr each console and not the wild madness of amateaur journalists failing horribly to get news from japan. Shame they didnt have Beckett Pokemon cos that one was infamous fot drawing its own terrible interpretations of pokemon sprites to avoid copyright. And speaking of terrible, they even had bootleg pokemon!! I talked to the cashier and he was like "you know those are fake right" and i was like "yeah its so nostalgic thats why i want em" and he was like "lol yeah they actually sell pretty well so i'm not mad my supplier ripped me off". It was a pretty good and awesomely terrible fake at the same time? There was this exact replica of some japanese display stand for the product and then the actual pokeball toys looked perfect BUT the mini pokemon inside were.. Really not. I am so damn happy with the surprise inside my one, surprise inside has never been more accurate! I can't take a picture now cos my phone is charging but REGICHEETO. Just..just imagine that, and whatever you're imagining it is probably worse. I love it so fuckin much. Also less hilariously there were some bootleg mini pika plushies with actually (as far as i can tell) their own unique design? They have cute lil winter scarves and an art style that reminds me of the Magical Pokemon Adventure manga. A really cute and good bootleg that i would have loved to see as a real product! The only way you can even tell its a bootleg is because there's no marking on the tail. I dunno, maybe if i still have some brown fabric in the cupboard i could fix it? Or maybe its unique tail makes it even more special! I mean there's Cosplay Pikachu with its double tail marking so maybe this is her cousin Accessory Pikachu with no markings? He just likes wearing scarfs and hats and stuff. OMG HE'S THE POKEMON GO EVENT PIKACHU!!!!!!

Along the miscness of finding a few things for myself, i also found: cute lil pokemon pencilcase, kingdom hearts blind bag, cheap copy of Fruits Basket volume 1 cos the new remake is coming out soon and i wanna Get Hype! The KH blind bag was really weird cos i didnt know they now have an entirely different set as well as the keychains i bought before. Its kind of a shame the art style doesnt match cos vexen is only in the keychains, alas! But i do really love these ones! Theyre apparantly made by funko pop but dont have the art style AT ALL, they just look like really accurate versions of the characters in mini form. Its kinda like the 'distance animation' style in steven universe? (Incidentally they also do SU ones but they missed the opportunitu to actually use the distance style, lol) I got a Sora in his kh2 outfit and i'm decently happy with that, its not one i really wanted but its not a bad one either. But i think now i've tried the fun of surprise once i'll just buy the actual ones i want off ebay later. They have roxas in his organization outfit! With a happy smile!!!

Oh oh and then EVEN MORE XBOX GAMES OF THE WILD THRIFT STORE VOID! i managed to find the whole fable series, two assassins creeds, saints row, gta, some misc shooter games and racers that she wanted but i dont know much about, mass effect 2 and ff13. I think maybe one or two others cos i cant fully remember right now. Theyre all in separate bags strewn across the room and my shoulders feel like death so i'll sort through them later.

Aaaand i wrote up like 14 paragraphs more but tumblr didnt save my draft fpr some fuckin reason and now im way too tired to do it again

Briefer summary:

* had a huge horrible panic attack getting stuck in a skyscraper shopping centre clothes place full of screaming and every perfume smell and WHY DO I HAVE TO NAVIGATE THIS HELL MAZE TO FIND THE ESCALATOR and seriously i was my most primal animalistic self and i went full fight or flight on this bitch

* had a lovely time visiting Cool Shop Grandma and rambled the story of how i met her and how we became friends but hhh too tired to rewrite. But anyway today i gave her a christmas pikachu plush as thanks for everything and cos her shop is moving on to its next location soon. She got really teary and gave me a big hug! She's gonna be at a comic con in march so i hope i'm able to go to that and see her again.

* went on a wild goose chase looking for harry potter merchandise and eventually found a gold plated replica of the movie prop version of the time turner and HELL YES my sis will love it!

* rambled about several market stalls that were cool but i can make a separate post about that in the morning when i find their contact details to advertise them

* got a plushie delibird and decided to take selfies with it everywhere to try and fight my social anxiety somehow. We went to a neat lil restaurant and had cheesy fries and a coke float!

* asked for a refund on an item for the first time ever and im proud of myself

* went off on a mystery bus trip to buy a preowned 3ds and pokemon games from a lady in an online preowned stuff facebook group and it didnt go horribly and i am glad! She was really nice and i witnessed A Good And Smart Parenting Moment and man it healed my heart and i wish i'd been raised that way. Again i'll probably ramble about the details later when im less tired, it really touched my heart seriously! And now i have MANY GIFTS FOR SIS!

* in total i was out present shopping from 9am to 8pm and i clicked my shoulder out of its socket for a split second from.all the heavy bags. Now im in a lot of aches and i need a sleeps

It was only 5:49pm and it was already pitch black outside. The wonders of Winter. Sasha stared out the kitchen window aimlessly; watching the snow fall, gazing at passersby walking down the side walk, peering up when she spotted headlights, but quickly leaned back onto the windowsill again when she could see the vehicle and that it wasn’t the one she was looking for. She played with the band around her wrist, and then switched to play with her hair that she had taken down to shower earlier that day.

She was waiting for Connie to get back to their shared dorm home. They rented it with their giant group of friends, seeing as it could fit all of them snugly with the absurd number of rooms and space held within. It was nice having a big house to goof around in and a bunch of cool people to hang out with. It was rare that no one was home, so you were guaranteed to having someone there to bug.

Lost in thought a bit, Sasha barely noticed the headlights in the driveway go off, but the change was enough to have her sit fully up from her lean and smoosh her face up against the chilly glass to get a better look. When she saw the figure digging out bags from the trunk, she knew it was Connie that had come back. More than half the house had gone out somewhere, and the other half were either decorating, or sick, or taking care of the sick.

Sasha broke into a mad sprint to the front door, swinging it open with ease. She started making her way down the walkway. After locking his car, Connie looked up at the form approaching him.

“Hey Sash! It’s freezing out here, go back in, I’m good!” he called with a big smile adoring his face.

She ignored him and continued to make her way forward. Once reaching him, she smiled brightly.

“Gimme half! I can at least help a little!” She demanded in a jolly tone.

Seeing as Marcel and Ymir were sick, Sasha opted to make them some nice soup while Connie left to shop for a few things. She felt bad not accompanying him, but the look of delight on Marcel’s face and the wonky, but genuine smile on Ymirs face with the soup offering was more than worth it. That and Porco thanking her as well in such a heartfelt way. It was nice and then funny when Pieck pointed out how sappy he looked so he retreated back into the living-room (stomped back, more like it) to continue decorating.

Connie relented and gave her about half the bags to which she happily took them, taking big strides back to the house, leaving Connie’s warnings of slowing down and not slipping as well as his comment on how he’d be in the house by now on deaf ears.

Once inside, they were greeted with Porco yelling to “close the damn door” and Pieck welcoming Connie back from the living-room. Connie greeted them both back as he knocked his boot against the outside trim before making his way in. He kicked his boots off, like Sasha did, and dropped his half of the bags off onto the counter. Sasha was already unloading them and placing food into the fridge or freezer or cupboard or wherever they needed to go.

“Ohh! Thanks for the measuring stuff, Reiner still couldn’t find that spoon set that he swore he had. Plus we really needed some big measuring cups.” She exclaimed. Connie grinned back at her in response as he unloaded the bags before him. Placing the bags of chips in the counter top, Connie peered over to Sasha who had collected a number of things and was lining them up on the island.

“Wait, you wanna make the cookies now?” he asked, eyeing up all the ingredients needed for Gingerbread.

“YES! This is what I’ve been waiting for!” She exclaimed, overjoyed.

This was her favorite part of the holidays, making deserts, but especially making Gingerbread cookies. She still couldn’t drive a vehicle herself and had to rely on others taking her out or getting stuff for her, but seeing as everyone was so busy this time of year, she hadn’t been able to go and get all the baking supplies she needed this year. It had her feeling mildly depressed, so when Connie finally asked what she needed that morning, she teared up.

“Okay, okay! Wash your hands and we’ll get started.” He lamented.

She nodded, turning to the sink, before she stopped to tie her hair up into a high pony tale. Connie took this time to wash his hands, and when she began to wash hers, he noticed how much the sweater she wore hung off her shoulders.

“Soooooo, what happened to the sweater?” He asked.

She snorted and started drying her hands.

“I stretched it out a bit too much to make it comfy.” She began, a big grin on her face, ”And then I washed it and the hole was even bigger, so now I gotta go out and buy Bert a new one altogether.”

A lot of them decided to dig into Bertholdt’s sweater collection and steal whatever fit, which, everything fit everyone and then some. Bert didn’t pay any mind, he thought it was cute and happily allowed the sweaters to be borrowed. Key word is: Borrow. So Sasha very much did need to buy the guy a new sweater, but she knew Bert wouldn’t really care much, he’d appreciate her going out of her way to get him a new one.

“So where do we start?” Connie spoke. He’d never made Gingerbread himself, only bought the pre-made stuff at the store to decorate. Sasha looked up at him, a gleam in her eyes and a giant smile on her lips.

She began taking him through the steps: dry mix, wet ingredients, mixing, rolling, all with excitement. At his question as to why she had a sad look about her at points, she told him it was something she and her Grandma would do every Holiday season. She loved it so much and it was always her favorite thing, spending time with her Grandma. She didn’t say much after that and Connie viewed her with understanding. He wouldn’t push what didn’t need to be pushed.

“Well, if you want, we can make this a yearly thing between us.” He started, causing Sasha to stop and look up at him. He folded the dough again and pressed down. “You can teach me, just like your Grandmother taught you, and we can make these every single year!” He finished, grinning and looking to her. She gave a sweet smile back to him and nodded.

“I’d love that, Connie.”

After cutting out all the cookies into people and filling the trays, Sasha popped them into the pre-heated oven where it would take a time before they were done. The two washed their hands again.

“It feels so oo-y goo-y, but it’s kinda cool after a while.” He spoke, a bit grossed out at how the remnants of dough fell from his fingers in little gloops while under the water. It was kinda nasty, but it reminded him of silly puddy and just being a little kid in general.

“You’ll get used to it. Over time, you start to love it and can’t wait for it.” Sasha spoke, obviously remembering over time how she felt about folding the dough.

“Thick doughs feel a lot different from thin ones and wet ones, those are sticky and get EVERYWHERE.” She laughed.

“Yeesh, maybe we can work our way up to that then.” He said in response, wincing a bit.

“Yes, of course!” She agreed.

They started cleaning up after turning some music on to get them into the mood. Cleaning was never the fun part, but it had to be done. They moved around each other seamlessly, almost dancing. When they’d bump into each other they would laugh and giggle quick apologies, before going back into the rhythm. It didn’t take to long to scrub the islands counter and throw away the tiny pieces that didn’t make it and were too small to do anything with, even together. They hand washed the bowls and measuring cups and spoons and utensils, and through idle chatter they found the cookies to be done.

Sasha took them out wearing her oven mitts and put the trays onto the stove top to cool off.

“Kay, so now we get the frosting and stuff ready to decorate!” She began, gathering up the various coloured frostings from the counter to place onto the island.

“Should we use some paper towel or something so we don’t have to clean much again?” Connie interjected.

The strawberry brunette shook her head, yes, and grabbed something from one of the pull-out drawers.

“Parchment paper.” She spoke. “It’ll keep everything clean as we decorate. When we finish a cookie we can just put it back onto the trays for now, since the icing would then need time to set.”

She ripped some of the paper off of the roll and placed it onto the island with the icing.

“Perfect!” Connie exclaimed. “Also, I’ll be back, potty break.” He quickly said before he left the kitchen.

He returned to Sasha touching the cookies lightly. She looked back at him and stated they were cool enough to decorate now. He helped her bring the trays into the island where they could reach things better and the two began their decorating.

Sasha decided to make her cookies look like their housemates. She asked Connie ahead of time to make sure he got black icing to which he had asked if it even existed. After looking to her cookies now and then, he realized why and thought it was cute.

Connie went a different way. He wasn’t so good at piping, nor was he going to bother with filling, so, he just drew squiggles and swirls. He made a face on each one, at least, but the most important thing was having a steady hand with the letters. On the chest of everyone one of his Gingerbread people was a letter. Even if Sasha looked over, she may think that Connie just didn’t know what to fill the space with, so he’d just put a letter there, but she was fully engrossed in what he was doing to pay much attention to him.

When the two had finished they looked over their tiny Gingerbread friends.

“Wow, Sash, thats super cool!” Connie expressed with joy as he looked over the cookies Sasha had worked hard on. “Also, where are the giant muscles on Gingerbread Me?” He joked, earning him a laugh and a tiny shove, which he snickered at.

“No, but, honestly...These are amazing, they’ll love ‘em.” He complimented.

“Thanks, I’m sure everyone’ll have a fun time eating themselves.” She grinned. “So, let me see what you’ve got.” She peered up at him expectantly.

It took him a few seconds of just nervously gazing at her, to move his body away from what he had been covering up.

The Gingerbread people had been placed in a way where the letters on their chests could spell something. It took Sasha a moment of genuinely loving what Connie had done with all the Gingerbread people to spell out what was written.

“...U...Wanna Date...?” She said out loud. It then clicked in. She turned her head to Connie who had the biggest blush she’d ever seen on him, and that alone lit her own face up. She looked back to the cookies, reading it in her head again and then back to Connie who looked a bit more worried than before.

She snorted and then began to laugh whole-heartedly, a sweet look on her face. Connie was a bit taken aback, but when Sasha turned to face him and wrapped her arms around his neck, and then leaned in to kiss him, he knew it was okay. They both smiled into the kiss and they both broke it to laugh. Sasha held him close, to which he responded by wrapping his arms around her waist.

“So what does that mean?” He questioned was a love struck look. She looked up at him, giving him a quick peck on the lips.

“It means, as long as we eat those now, so no one else thinks you’re asking them out, I’ll date you.” She answered.

It was Connies turn to burst out laughing now. He loved her, so very much.

“It’s a deal!”

Breaking Ian

just a 5 page short story highlighting the traumas that shaped Ian the most in the first half-ish of his canon story. Would have written more but that means finishing the book and thats just asking a lot.

trigger warnings self harm mentions, anorexia mentions, substance abuse mentions, severe trauma, blood/gore, and possibly a few more.

Darkness cast over the city of Altone, the quiet of night set in in such a way that Ian could feel it in his bones. The still, unnatural silence that fell over the city was both unnerving and relaxing for the constantly busy teen. Laid back on his twin sized bed, he stared at the white orange peel ceiling with eyes dead and tired. Once sparkling emeralds full of wonder and hope, Ian’s eyes had faded to a dark lackluster green with large blobs of brown as the world wore down his mind and body. He had begun to look constantly exhausted by way of heavy bags under his eyes by the time he was fourteen. Life had not been so kind to him in his eighteen years, and time had worn his soul down to almost nothing. As his weary mind began to cast colorful swirls onto the chalky ceiling, Ian felt his eyes slip closed and the air thicken with a sickening familiarity.

For moments all was calm, the sound of rubber on asphalt was as soothing as the gentle music coming from somewhere below. It was the not so gentle thump of the car as asphalt turned to unpaved country roads that jolted Ian’s eyes open once more as he found himself in his mother’s car, his sister chattering excitedly as they grew closer to their destination. In the front seat was his mother, her curly black hair cascading over her shoulders and enveloping the headrest in it’s incredulous volume. Fragments of her pale, freckled face came only into view long enough to flee behind those voluminous locks once more. He wanted to reach out and touch her, to hug her and feel safe in her arms for the first time in almost a decade, but instead he was jostled by an incoming head of wavy brown hair accompanied by a boisterous giggle. It was his sister, all sweet and innocent with big brown eyes, and a goofy gap toothed smile on her face.

“Are you excited?!” Her childish voice ever so chipper and full of glee. At only four years old she was enthralled by the idea of seeing cows, ducks, and sheep. Ian gave her a grin and nodded happily just as he had back then.

“Yeah Samantha, I can’t wait!” His voice had been so much higher back then, so sugary sweet that adults would fawn over the curly headed tot.

With a blink of his eyes Ian found himself in a barn with a beautiful, tame cow, his uncle Will, and his mother whose leg he clung to. She smelled of lavender and chemical sterilizing agents, as well as her sweet rose perfume. He knew why he was here in the barn, but he couldn’t escape it, no matter how desperately he begged his feet to move, this dream would play out just like the real thing. The clattering of the shotgun being loaded was his first indicator as he hid half his face in his mother’s thigh. They talked indistinguishably as Ian felt his little heart race, he didn’t know why he had asked to tag along, perhaps too young to understand the word slaughter he had just wanted to see the cow. Then came the gun shot, the sickening splatter of blood that ensured the cow was dead, and the deafening cries of a horrified little boy, his dress splattered with little specks of red. He’d not touched meat since then, especially beef the memory staying with him always.

Hiding his face now entirely in his mother’s thigh a few more breaths and he was back in the car. Older now, the minivan from before had been replaced with a sleeker, smaller family car. His sister, excitedly kicking her feet for her first trip to the beach, it was no small drive but she was sure to be excited the entire ride. It was his eighth birthday and Ian himself was excited, riding behind them with the window half down and a stupid smile on his face. It was a beautiful day to go to the lake and swim, just slightly too hot for comfort and mildly sticky. His hair was a frizzy mess that rested in a pony tail on his back just over his light blue bathing suit cover, in the end the heat would be more than worth it. A familiar dread grew in the young boy’s stomach, the feeling he got when something would go wrong without a doubt. It was then that everything became fuzzy, a sharp pain erupting on Ian’s forehead and the left side of his head. He was dizzy and could hear only screaming and the screeching of tires. He felt for moments at a time that he might fall entirely out of his seat only to feel firmly planted there again. His Forehead was continuously battered by something, before a harsher, sharper pain grew in his nose and right eye socket and the young boy passed out entirely.

When Ian open his eye again the world was upside down, and his right eye wouldn’t open. He groaned against the distant sirens and grabbed for the front seat.

“Mom…?” His voice came out wet, the taste of iron and salt filling his mouth, but the only voice that came was that of a young sounding man.

“We’ve got a live one!” Suddenly everything was bustling and noise, even as the young boy coughed up blood and wished it would all go away, more stimulation came. There were hands all over him, some touching places that hurt more than any pain before. He was pulled from the car with some shouting and effort, his view from the gurney granted him the view of a smashed in car, and his mother’s face caved in around the steering wheel. The airbags had never deployed, and the wind shield had utterly shattered, leaving his little sister nearly decapitated. Across the road was a semi truck, perfectly intact but with a sobbing female driver. She had tried to fight sleep for forty eight hours and lost, costing Samantha and Amanda McClaine their lives.

Ian clenched his eyes closed, wishing it all away and shaking his head in utter denial. This horrid reliving of a life changing tragedy didn’t melt away until the paramedic announced them both long dead. His right eye socket and maxilla had been broken that day, several ribs shattering against the restraint of the seatbelt and impaling his left lung. Several others had only just barely missed his heart. Later in the hospital quite a few doctors and nurses would tell him he was lucky to be alive. He didn’t think so.

As one realistic dream faded into another, Ian found himself in bed at home with a dull ache in his chest and dried tears on his face. He was now twelve, the signs of his first puberty starting to show in the typical feminine ways. The ache in his chest was from ace bandages not removed the night before, and the tears from the very first throes of dysphoria. He didn’t know the word for what he was yet, no label of transgender was known to him. He called himself many things, most kindly the term ‘tomboy.’ He felt shaky legs swing over the bed and land on papers on the floor and he felt his pajama pants sting the razor bites on his thighs, but still he stood and shuffled to the main room. It was nine in the morning on a Sunday, the light would be filtering in through the crimson curtains his mother had bought and waking his hung over, or still half drunk father soon enough. The house was a disaster, with beer bottles and garbage covering the floor, it reeked of stale body odor and two broken humans that simply didn’t care anymore. At this time Ian had been unnaturally thin, only finding the motivation to eat when the pain was so bad in his gut that he had to. Now was one of those times.

His father in contrast turned to eating away his feelings. Once slender and business man like, he was now incredibly fat and looked like the unemployed shell of a man that he was. The pay out from suing the car company had been huge and should have sustained them both for a decade or two, but was now nearly gone due to someone’s drinking and gambling habits. Ian snuck close to his father, less interested in him and more interested in the pack of cigarettes by his side. He’d done this a million times over for beer or cash but never for a smoke. He couldn’t have known the plastic would make enough noise to wake the sleeping man on the couch, but learned this lesson quickly as a loud groan came from the previously sleeping man.

“Don’t.” Is the only thing the hungover man said, swatting the boy’s hand away. Ian of course sighed and backed away, knowing the next warning wouldn’t be so kind. He instead retreated to his room for a cold shower that would sting and remind him of his own existence. Just briefly in the bathroom he caught a glimpse of himself, the hideous scars that covered his face and body like a road map more evident now than they ever had been. He wondered if anyone would ever see past him, or if he would only ever be as interesting as his scars.

As the bathroom door closed behind him, that cold, harsh reality faded to a vaguely brighter one. The sun was striking Ian’s lacy black curtains and refracting off of the crystals hanging from the ceiling. The room was cleaner now, a previously pink room turned black with chrome accents as Ian grew into himself. Different plants hung in pots around the room, some common flowers and succulents, nothing too hard to take care of. The room was still a mess but no where near as bad as it had been. He was fifteen now, fuller of frame and much more mentally stable. Slinking into his bathroom he gave himself a once over, running his fingers through his hair. He’d just had it cut, he looked clean for once. His chest was now bound with a cheap, but safe binder and he wore entirely male attire. Those scars had faded away to a dull pink on his pale face, the vague freckles a stark contrast and a constant reminder of his Irish heritage. He knew what today was, he didn’t want to be here.

Nonetheless his feet carried him towards his door, shaky hands turning the handle. His father was on the couch, a thinner cleaner version of his previous self. He had a beer in hand and some was fixated on some football game, heavy bags under his eyes to match those under Ian’s. While things had improved, Derek McClaine was no less a bitter man. Four years of being near constantly drunk had taken their toll, but he worked two jobs and provided his living child with the basic most necessities. He had only glanced up at the noise as Ian came out of his room, standing awkwardly by the television and chewing his lip. His dad’s brown eyes eventually moved to look him over and a small frown appeared on his face.

“You’re unbelievable Ian.” The gruff voice of a chain smoker filled the room, chilling Ian to his core. His little hands balled into fists as his shaky voice broke free from his throat.

He wanted to scream at his father, but instead he barely managed a whisper. “I didn’t ask for this dad, the least you could do is support me through this.”

Derek’s frown turned into a deep rooted scowl, his brows furrowing at the child before him. “Support what Ian? A high school dropout Average with no future ahead of them but certain death?! I think not! I think you’ll have your things moved out by the end of the week and if you have any goddamn brains in your head you’ll warn that spider freak to stay out too! As far as I’m concerned, I have no son.” His words came harsh and brought tears to his eyes, but he none the less moved to the kitchen to prepare a meal for himself so he would have the energy to pack.

Walking through the living room, however, brought him to his apartment. All was quiet for a moment a stillness setting in that was unnerving to Ian. For a moment, he might have thought he was awake, but the opening of his door without any warning proved otherwise.

“Ian, my man! Guess what I have in store for you today!” Titus burst in, a dumb smile on his face as the ridges where most had eyebrows raised nearly halfway through his forehead. He was an odd little man with odd gifts. His abilities however, cost him all of his hair and apparently most of his sanity. To most of Altone, Titus was the sole defender of the west border known as The Obsidian Spider. To the community he was stoic and calm, but Ian knew he was a party animal and a play boy that wasn’t fond of clothes or knocking.

Turning slowly to his teacher the boy raised an eyebrow and tucked his hands into his hoodie pocket in silent questioning. It was amazing to him that his neighbors never made noise complaints about Titus. Maybe they were deaf, or maybe they didn’t care.

Rolling his eyes in frustration at Ian’s lackluster response, the older man continued. “We’re going on our first mission! There’s a mermaid terrorizing some poor fishermen on Lake Plan D'eau!”

“I don’t go to the lake, Titus.” Ian cut in, now shuffling to the kitchen to make himself some green tea. He was in no mood for this today.

“Well, you’re going today and we’re flying there in style!”

Another blink of the eye and Ian felt the cold breeze off the water hitting his face contrasting the sharp burn against his feet from the sand. Some time around five years prior, something had infested the waters of Lake Plan D’eau, something vicious and man eating. The locals had come to call them mermaids, but no one knew their origin or the origin of the word.

The creatures were nothing like the mermaids of old, hideous in every way they opted to chase down their prey rather than lure it into those murky depths. They of course preyed on the average variety of humans, those dumb enough to think they could survive a quick dip in the water, or that their boat would protect them. Ian hated the lake.

Titus, however, paid these beings no mind. Clad in nothing but his boxers he dove into the water and heroically brought the man and his boat to safety. The horror came when one of the mermaids latched on to Titus’ foot as he exited the water and a scream filled the air like none Ian had ever heard before. As the foul being rolled much like an alligator to tear off this part of its meal. The boy knew now was the time for action, and he felt his hand reach for the dagger at his side. It would be so simple to sink the blade into the mermaid’s skull, right between the eyes. But if it was so simple, why couldn’t be move?

Paralysed in fear the young apprentice was useless until the agonized scream turned to pleas for help in the boy’s ear, his mentor clawing at the ground before him in a desperate attempt to get away from the sharp teeth the threatened to take his foot. Before he could even register what he was doing Ian lept into action and sunk the blade into the mermaid’s skull without much hesitation or thought. His sense of remorse only kicked in as it wailed in pain and dug at its forehead in the moment’s as it’s life drained away.

As Titus pulled himself from the bloody water, and the rescued man called for an ambulance, Ian fell to his knees and buried his face in his hands. As if an entire decade of trauma came pouring back over him. He’d come so far, been through so much and only ever broken down once or twice.

Now, without family or a friend in the world, he could no longer remain strong.

The sound of springs popping and a wretched gasp fill the air as Ian shoots up in bed, tears streaking down his face. He wanted to go home, to curl up in his familiar room with his dog and feel a comfort he hadn’t felt since being kicked out. The reality of his memories frightened him but there was nothing he could do besides bring his knees to his chest and cry, a broken man of only eighteen.
