THIS. for me the end was perfect.

I feel great both for Henry for being given the opportunity to grow with the healthy support and presence of his father, and for Ted for being able to follow what his heart wants. For giving himself the plasure and gift of being present in his son life.

I genuinely hate the take that Henry is not worth Ted leaving London for. People arguing that Ted should stay because there are more people in London who care about him?? Ok but his SON is in America. And he wants to be part of his son’s life growing up. 

Or saying that Ted doesn’t have friends in America and Michelle’s not worth going back for - Ted makes friends everywhere, he’s going to be okay. And the point isn’t Michelle. It’s HENRY.

Ted can’t abandon his son the way his father did to him - because the situations are different, but the way Henry would have ended up feeling probably would have been the same. For whatever personal motivation of his father, he wasn’t worth sticking around for.

In so many ways, Ted came in and broke cycles and that’s the point. He broke the cycles of bullying at Richmond, of people hurting others because they’re hurt, of revenge and anger instead of forgiveness. 

And the one last cycle he had to break was him making his son feel the way that his father made him feel. This story has been three seasons in the making. Ted’s story with his father and how it affected his relationship with his son has always been at the heart of his character - it’s motivated and haunted him at every step.

It always had to end with Ted making this decision.

Thomas doesnt see his problems as big as the others ahd his friends have so much going on that they just, checked up once and got caught up so much with their own issues that they just left it there. Not to say they dont love Thomas they just, theres a lot going on and Thomas doesnt want to take away from the support sustem hes offered with his problems. His only other support system is his family and I dont think he wants to take away from there either, specially since it relates to his grieve

Alastair doesnt KNOW what a support system is

Hes just doung things alone again and again

The CLOSEST thing he had to a support system outside of people he was already protecting and placed burdens on him (even if unintentional) was charles (derogatory)

And that proved worthless because turns out Charles wasnt all that concerned for being there for him

Cordelia would be a good choice if he didnt soend 10 years hiding everything so shed be alright

And then when he does start to open up shes the one that closes down because of her own issues she doesnt want to bother people with

Sona (I adore her) not a good option. Because how do you tell your mother "hey that thing you did extremly hurt me and just led me down a path of making horrible desicions that have led me here"

But again alastair doesnt know what a support system is. He doesnt even want thomas around in case he hurts him. He loves him enough to let him go ao no support system

Thomas even mentions after his sister dies that he "doesn't want to intrude" and he "doesn't want to make his friends sad with his sadness" which is really hard to read because the way he says it is clearly him feeling as if his emotions aren't important and they deserve to be ignored.

Alastair always seems to think that he doesn't deserve support and happiness. Even when Cordelia is like "it must suck to live with Elias again are you okay" he responds with "even though it's selfish I'm glad I can talk to you about it" and that's probably the closest he's had to someone supporting him. And they don't even get to interact that often. Something I've noticed a lot in these books is that characters point out that another is hurting but they don't act on it. For all Cordelia talked about Alastairs invisbale scars and his broken heart she didn't reach out to him. Alastair pushes Thomas away too and honestly I understand. Like I can't imagine the amount of guilt he always feels and it's probably really difficult to be around Thomas when he's a constant reminder of it. It would be different if the story centered more around forgiveness and growth

Imagine Sophie giving advice and Thomas just- dying out of embarrassment. I mean he USES it but he's embarrassed for sure
