#thats the rundown for the blurryface era/album cycle !!!

so !!! it mostly starts with their 2015 album called blurryface and a character by the same name. he was created by tyler joseph (singer and frontman of the band) in order to personify his flaws, fears and . insecurities. stuff like that

thats the main point of blurry but im gonna include The Whole Thing below the cut :3

to help show who he is , tyler would kinda 'become' blurryface and symbolize his presence by painting his neck black to represent the feeling of being suffocated/choked by his fear and his hands to represent hesitation while creating

blurry is also represented by the color red !! so a lot of the time during the blurryface album cycle he would wear this red beanie, hed wear red eye contacts, lots of red lights on stage, etc

blurry is usually just tyler, but depending on the story he wants to tell or show, he can appear in other forms too !! like a dog, a skeleton, or even smoke

hes also present in a lot of the songs as well, this deep voice singing alongside, in front of, or behind tyler's voice. u can hear him best in the song fairly local, which is literally just kinda . an argument between him and tyler

to help promote the album and go more in depth with the character, blurry was given a twitter account , @/blurryface . the acc was mostly active right before blurryface the album came out, but he'd come back during the album cycle to tease things like releases and stuff

he'd also delete most of his tweets and likes after a little while, as though he wanted to hide evidence of him ever being there. so most of his tweets aren't available to view anymore but im pretty sure theres an archive somewhere

hed speak really cryptically on twitter, in all caps with the letters spaced out. through his tweets, he gave hints towards music videos, leaks, and album/song releases, but also sometimes just spoke his mind or bullied fans lol /hj

for example ! this tweet was a sneak peak of the band's collaboration with mutemath. blurry is expressing tyler's anxiety that fans might not like the new sound of the EP

probably one of the most important things blurry leaked/teased on twitter was . the entire fucking album ?? he went live on periscope showing himself doing so and it was rlly weird lmao. the album got taken down after a day or so

after that he went silent for a while (as he did kinda often) but when he came back, he posted a photo of himself with spaced out letters, which when rearranged spelled out a link called facesareablur.com (doesnt work anymore !! dont go to the website)

on the site there was an email that if u emailed you'd sometimes get a threatening reply back .for some reason

eventually, tøp played this show called march madness and tyler showed up on stage wearing a blue jumpsuit. which was HUGE because tyler normally stuck to the achromatic and red color scheme of the album cycle

but . earlier that day blurryface tweeted this:

and so the entire clique went basically insane /hj

it wasn't clear if it meant that blurry had defeated tyler or the other way around, but it let us know that there was still a whole lot more to unpack in the storyline

after that day, blurryface went silent again. the concept of blue was used again in the band's sixth and most recent album scaled and icy, but ill get to that later
