#this is like. the biggest news that coukd ever occur ohhhh my god#métis have only been a part of 1.5 treaties and the main one isnt even recognized as a treaty#thats the manitoba act. which is a treaty to métis people but an act to the government#and the other treaty doesn’t really count because it was a small group of métis who joined a cree treaty#and they are the only métis with any treaty rights#anyways the total lack of treaties as you can imagine has been detrimental#god this is crazy how did i not know!!#my two loves. métis history/politics and treaty negotiations espppp modern treaties#modern treaties are literally so cool… sometimes i feel like the gov doesnt know what theyre getting into sometimes#like what’s happening in nisga’a nation? are they part of canada? who knows. it’s awesome#cdnpoli
