hii sry for bothering u but I remember this tiktok edit of Jake with the song "el taxi" and it had one panel from the mk comics but I can't find it anywhere? 😭😭

hi anonnieee, sorry it took so long but it’s totally fine to ask me questions, i’m always happy to answer or help out to the best of my abilities. ngl im a tiny bit confused on if you’re asking if i could help w finding the edit or finding the comic book panel😭 but in terms of edits i tried scowering the internet and couldn’t find anything like that, i even downloaded tiktok to try and find it myself, but to no avail-

but! maybe there’s still hope, fret not anon. maybe we can use the comic book panel to our advantage. do you by chance remember what it looks like? or do you know which art style you see here from the most common runs it looks closest to?

first up is the panel from mackay, the current mk run going on, it’s very good and i personally enjoy it a lot and LOVE how jake’s written here. his iconic phrase “jake lockley is for the people!” comes from here (i need to catch up on it)

next up we have these panels from the lemire run which is my personal favorite run. he’s very scruffy and charming here, and the art and story really does him justice (he looks fine as hell in this run)

next up is the moench run, the original run. it’s very interesting to see how the author builds up or puts foundations in for jake for him to grow into the kind hearted taxista we know today :D

last up bc i have it in my camera roll is the black white and blood series. i personally haven’t touched this run because ive heard some things about certain mini stories thats in it, but jake’s appearance here is pretty close to the mcu look (moustache not included tho, my bf added that in bc i said he looked better with one💀)

i knowwww i didn’t add the bemis series(i did it in purpose, i despise that run<3) and i knowww this ended up turning into a comics jake rant, but if you’re still looking anon feel free to let me know what style the panel was closet to and we can backtrack (and hey, it’s a good way to get a glimpse into comics jake, he’s a great guy and i hope mcu jake is like him)

KINICH WHEN I CATCH YOU ITS ALL OVER I NEED TO EVICT YOU FROM YOUR RENT FREE LOCATION IN MY BRAIN. I'm really sad i didn't get to use a really cool fire icon from one of the game files; I was gonna stick it in TURNFIRE HUNT as the U in turnfire, but that was too cramped with Kinich hanging onto the word. The leaf textures from the event were also really cool, if you can tell where I used them you get bonus points, but I wish I got to show them off more. I'd like to do another graphic with one of his character stories, but there are already very cool illustrations of his vision story and character story 1, which like. are the most narratively complete parts of his char stories, and the ones I would choose to design around. "On his seventh birthday, the mountains had sent him the gift of freedom — but when he opened the box, he found naught but solitude within." <- I'd also like to make a design based on this because ow what the hell genshin. WHAT THE HELL. A birthday gift in an empty box... but my idea probably requires in game photography which I don't want to do (and won't be able to do after kinich's trial ends)

learned a lot about how to use blur + halftone to make the halftone convincing and not ridiculous looking lol. pixelate is so useful!!! and so is the random noise texture I either found or made lol. I have a smart object with like 10 different filters in one of the files, which is absurd, I still haven't figured out how to delete filters and it's really annoying lol. i finally know how to add multiple guide lines at once (photoshop noob). also can someone tell me why panel 3 looks brighter when you open it compared to what it looks like without clicking on the page. what the hell I just want the colors to be the same T_T I also really wanted to use ajaw's icon somewhere! oh well he didn't make the cut, back to solitary confinement he goes. I can't believe I spent 10 days on this, it felt shorter than that, but I did take a long-ish break between the 3rd and 4th panel. back to not editing for another 6 months 👍

hiori definitely thinks he’s going to have all cutesy pokémon given how adorable all of the babies are and then they evolve and are sooo scary and intimidating (except swanna who’s ironically the only one of the six that’s actually mean) HAHAHA omg otoya’s team acquisitions are so funny in the au i crack up thinking abt them…obviously froakie he just gets because it’s his starter and he’s from a ninja clan but then with ampharos it’s just because reader and co went to a farm for some reason?? and one of the mareeps was so obsessed with otoya that the farm was like “just take it” and otoya’s like “bro i don’t want it i can’t be seen with this 😟” but then the mareep is like “🥺💛🩵” and tullia’s like “yo don’t be a douche anyways it’ll evolve into an ampharos that’s strong” so otoya’s just like FINE I GUESS 😭 after that he’s given a happiny by a nurse joy that he rizzed up…he thinks it’s proof of rizz but apparently karasu overheard the nurse joy saying the owner abandoned the happiny because taking care of a baby pokémon is too much work so she gave it to otoya since he seemed trustworthy enough (her first choice was tullia but tullia already has a full team from the start so she wouldn’t be able to manage it) and he tells otoya and otoya (who was about to release the happiny lowkey) is immediately like “😱 bitch i’m a mother 😤 no drama 🤩” even though he lowkey makes tullia and karasu’s talonflame do most of the work of taking care of happiny 😩 then while they’re at yayoi’s gym otoya has a MASSIVE crush on yayoi so while tullia’s battling her (reader and karasu already have their badges so karasu stays to watch tullia and reader accompanies otoya) he goes to find a flying type to impress yayoi but it can’t be just ANY flying type it has to be a special one so he searches high and low until he finally finds a swablu which is pretty rare so he figures it works…however yayoi does not care whatsoever so now he just has a swablu on his team 😭 he gets the vulpix by buying one of chris prince’s online courses that come with a free egg for the top tier subscribes and he’s so excited because he thinks the egg will hatch into a magby (so he can eventually have a magmortar) or a torchic (so he can eventually have a blaziken) but then it hatches into a VULPIX and he reads the fine print and realizes that it says the eggs will hatch into random fire-type pokémon but not any of chris’s main pokémon so he’s FUMING that he wasted his money and he has one sided beef w chris prince now 😓 finally sylveon he’s SOOOO HYPE because he catches and eevee and he’s like “let’s go i’m going to get an umbreon” so tullia tells him he has to have a high friendship with his eevee and battle with it at night to achieve that so he brings eevee EVERYWHERE to ensure the friendship is maxed out…however by in-game mechanics and therefore in-verse laws sylveon takes precedence over espeon and umbreon 😰 so he’s just battling one evening with reader or something and then his eevee starts to glow and he’s like FINALLY but then it finishes evolving and turns out to be a sylveon and he just gives up

this is the website it’s super easy to use and intuitive as it also provides all of the pokémon there so you don’t have to keep googling online 🤩 i rlly liked using it to build everyone’s teams even though i didn’t use the analysis function as much with anyone but reader

THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS PICTURING like amidst all of the corruption and fighting and anarchy there’s also just randomly a market war going on between ness and gagamaru but it’s completely one sided because gagamaru is perfectly content with the 5 customers he currently has 😭

see reader and nagi have such an insane slow burn that even by the aegislash arc they’re still only marginally friendly rivals that save each other’s asses but aren’t really close (of mc trio and reader&co the only ones that actually are good friends are tullia + chigiri…otoya and karasu think mc trio are all goofy so they just bully them and whenever mc trio pulls up reader is always busy with nagi so she never becomes friends w the other two) so the “in order to escape this world we just have to be in love i suppose” is their rationalization for why they are a littleeee too eager to live out the plot line 😭

HELP POKÉMON AU KARASU FR IS JUST ALWAYS CATCHING STRAYS THOUGH like nagi innocently suggests that he might be dating reader and reader tweaks out, two-thirds of his team is just pokémon his sister rejected, and this random kid from his hometown would probably beat him in a battle if he ever cared enough to do so

I KNOW WHICH EP YOU MEAN that one was so cute…i feel like galvantula especially as a joltik just rode around on reader’s should and chattered angrily when people made fun of it LMAOAO it’s such a babyyyy but honestly it deserves to be sassy considering the work it puts in for the team 😓 plsss whenever reader releases gyarados the first thing it does is try to tackle her in a hug because it loves her sm and she has to be like “no baby you’re the size of a school bus please get off” it’s very uncharacteristic because most gyarados are very mean and angry but reader was so kind to it as a magikarp and never did anything to hurt it/put it in danger just for the sake of its evolution (since she basically gave up on it every evolving based on tullia’s and karasu’s advice) that her gyarados LOVES her

tbh i always got rid of moves that didn’t do damage in the game but according to the anime’s logic pokémon can learn more than four moves so gyarados can keep rain dance KFJDJS i can imagine gyarados doing the rain dance like “yay 😄 i’m helping y/n 🕺🏻” meanwhile the opposing pokémon is about to cry because a happy gyarados is so rare that they think her gyarados is just a new level of insanely mad 😭 also apparently gyarados can learn thunderbolt, thunder, and flamethrower (ostensibly because it’s supposed to be a sea serpent that brings storms and whatnot) so galvantula doesn’t have to carry COMPLETELY since gyarados can also use some electric attacks 🤩 that would be a really cool battle in the conference like maybe substitutions aren’t allowed so when reader sends out her gyarados against and sets up a rain dance her opponent (who’s possibly a water type trainer) is like “that won’t work this time 😌 rain dance makes my pokémon stronger too 😏 and you can’t switch out for your galvantula 🤓☝🏻” since they’ve studied her and seen her use that combo in past battles but instead of panicking reader’s just like “lol okay gyarados use thunder” and that’s the end of that 🥶

yeahh the first few gyms only have a couple of pokémon each i tried to distribute so it’s kinda even and moves up with the reader’s power scaling?? so the first gym has two, second and third have three, fourth and fifth have four, sixth and seventh have five, and the eighth and e4 have a full team of 6 (in the game only the champion and possibly your rival have full teams of 6 but given how good reader is + the different stakes of the world it made more sense for the final gym and e4 to have full teams)

i literally looked up a list of all normal types while picking his team and as SOON as i saw purugly i was like oh this is perfect…reo already has a persian so i couldn’t give one to adam blake sadly 😓 some of the repetitions had me tweaking i really wanted the ace of loki’s team to be a zebstrika in reference to his speed but chigiri already has one so now loki’s ace is his emolga!!

anri with an inkay and a little espurr (before they evolve) is such a cute image to me 🥹 inkay is such a random pokémon for the upside down thing too i wonder how the first person to get a malamar figured that specific mechanic out

honestly if the karasus weren’t so obviously bird themed i would’ve made yayoi a fighting type gym leader and snuffy the flying type e4 member (since his aura or symbol or whatever is an eagle i think) but hawlucha truly is sooo yayoi coded FJSKSKS and omg wait originally i was really set on chris prince being a fighting type specialist and luna was the fire type gym leader but then i couldn’t think of a type for snuffy and i was like “well ig fighting types fit with his whole discipline thing” so he got the fighting type designation…then i had to come up w smth for chris prince and the only types that were rlly left were ones that didn’t really fit him so i was like ok sorry luna but chris prince will be the fire type specialist!! and then i had to come up with the new type for luna and the first one i thought of was poison…i didn’t think it fit him too well but then when i started assigning pokémon i was like wait this COOKS like roserade tentacruel and scolipede especially have very strong luna vibes

DARMANITAN LOWKEY HAS THE SAME EXPRESSION AS PRINCE TOO maybe that’s why it fits so well same with simisear…tbh outside of the starters there are very few fire types and of the ones that exist i already couldn’t use half (reader/barou have houndooms, nagi had an arcanine, isagi has a charizard, tullia has an infernape, chigiri has a rapidash and a pyroar, otoya has a ninetales, karasu has a talonflame, ego has a chandelure, and lavinho has a volcarona) so i was STRUGGLING coming up with his team (and also loki’s there are very few electric types and most of them were also already in use by other characters) but i honestly ended up loving it!! agreed it has very chris prince vibes to it

DNDJSJS scrafty actually does give strong lorenzo energy maybe that’s why snuffy caught it /j 😭 tbh i just liked its typing (it’s technically 4x weak to fairy but reader doesn’t have any fairy types so she’s in the clear in terms of no easy sweeps of the e4) and i was also trying to come up with fighting types that were cool and hadn’t been taken (cough isagi and his machamp cough reo and his gallade cough tullia and her infernape/hitmonchan cough lavinho and his heracross cough yayoi and her hawlucha cough chris prince and his blaziken cough barou and his pangoro cough yukimiya and his breloom cough)

ok so i ended up watching the first three episodes w out my friends because I couldn’t wait (I feel bad now but aaaaaaa) and this is what I learned

- Diego is a shit dad: probably because he never really had a good model to look up to as a kid. I was surprised that his kid was white???? and not adopted??? How does a desi person and a hispanic person have a white biological child????? Please explain, netflix good lord

- on the related note of the child, stanley, he’s fucking fantastic. Kid can make a hell of a molotov cocktail. 

- Reggie is... surprisingly sad this season? He looked kind of like a drowned rat and I almost felt bad for him then i remembered that he locked Klaus in a maloseum

- I expected to like Sloane but she’s kind of manipulative. I don’t know what to think of her.

- Luther acted high the entire time but maybe that’s just how he usually is, I don’t remember. I haven’t watched the other seasons in a long time

- They handled Viktor’s coming out very very well! I loved the different reactions. My brother was talking when Viktor came out to Allison so I didn’t get to hear it, but I especially loved how enthusiastic Luther was about it. 

- Five!!!!!! Five five five. I missed seeing him so so so much. I’m so glad he’s back. I loved how he was able to take a step back and just enjoy! I also found it funny how it was the complete opposite than it was in my World’s Largest Ball Of Twine fic- in the fic, Five was on a mission, and Klaus just wanted to see some sights, so he was the one who yanked the wheel into the exit. In the actual episode, the roles were completely reversed!!! 

- Lila my beloved!!!! She is so so pretty. I will never not find it funny how she and Five can go from killing each other to casual conversation. (Also, the plaid skirt fit???? that was hot as fUCK) (Id let her kill me in a heartbeat) (maybe im just depressed though)

-I am so so so so glad that they are finally letting Allison lose her shit. SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH A HELL OF A LOT OF STUFF!!!! SHE DESERVES TO LOSE IT IF SHE WANTS!!!! and she does and thats fucking fantastic!!! Im so glad for her!!!!!

i think it would be very funny if marvel took one of the superheroes very associated with a particular city, probably nyc since thats where most of them are from, and without explanation started writing them as being from like, chicago.

i don’t mean Great Lakes Avengers, I don’t mean had some kind of personal crisis and left town, I mean I open up a new issue of Daredevil but every instance of “Hell’s Kitchen” now reads “Chicago” and panels that would feature the Empire State Building are now of the bean. No one in-story comments on or lampshades this in any way. Writers and editors act confused if asked about it in an interview. News outlets start to publish “Is Marvel gaslighting Fantastic 4 fans?” type headlines. But if an old story has a specific, New-York-Dependent moment brought up they will comment on it as they would normally. “That panel of Spidey swinging past the Empire State Building is so iconic” etc. They refuse to acknowledge any ambiguity or contradiction in their remarks

 At some point, at least a year on but for maximum funny juuuuuuust long enough that the common conception of the character has started to shift, it switches back with an equally absent reasoning

okay now that thats out of the way lets get into this

the representation of people of colour in the comics is fucking shit. like sorry im not being all formal in this but lets be honest here its not good. the one not ambiguously brown character gets killed a couple pages into the first comic or even sooner. the main character who is supposed to be african american gets white washed when she is finally the main character. becky literally learn how to draw people of colour oh my FUCKING GOD.

oh and lets not forget that our canon asian representation are two driods one of which dies and the literal main villain who gets over sexualized constantly. even if that wasnt intentional it still is a glaring issue mx gerard.

and in all honesty its not that hard to write at least decent representation. im going to be bringing up dirk gently’s holistic detective agency which is such a good show oh my god i have the link to the youtube version if anyone doesnt have hulu. now dirk gently isnt a comic so of course the writing is going to be a little different, and i dont personally think that the show is revolutionary in the sense of pushing people of colour’s stories but its a good example of what danger days could have done and failed at if they wanted to keep the main character white (even though im not going to pretend like that isnt problematic)

anyway I Wanna Talk About Farah Now

in my personal opinion farah is a great character, and the characterization is something the writers team could have done with the girl. i dont want to spoil the character arch because it is super interesting and i love it to death my bi icon farah deserves the world but the world does not deserve her. her arch seems to center around her feeling like she needs to grow up to be like her family, but failing their expectations and trying to cope with that while everything goes to insanity. she started out as the black women stereotype that was just tough and didnt care, but grew to be a good character and stop repressing her feelings. im not lying when i said this lady has made me cry.

she gets to be emotional, she gets to not know what to do and she gets to tell people that. i feel like a lot of the time in media thats not show with women of colour making them not well rounded characters. which is when the girl gets put into this.

ignoring the fact that the girl is white washed, lets pretend she isnt. what is one time besides when her mom comes back that we see her genuinely have no clue what to do? besides crying hugging cherri for like one panel what emotional growth did she make? she just didnt get any actual character that i can see. she was a blank slate and honestly not good rep in my opinion. the main character trait i see is just lost and confused? and like didnt she run wild in the zones since she was 6 why is she so confused??? oh and yeah she was white washed so there goes one of our only POC characters. what the hell gerard.

the girl being a blank slate could be seen as giving the reader a point of view to see the universe but like in the nicest way possible thats lazy writing and 90% of the time an excuse for weak main characters.

cant talk about POC rep in the comics without bringing up the ultra v’s so here we mc fucking go. this is where i want to bring up the rowdy three, because the rowdy three is literally more diverse than the entire character list of danger days drink PISS.

now the rowdy three are this gang of (starting at four but i believe ends up as six? i dunno man found family is really strong in this show) reckless teens/young adults who run around and basically destroy things in a fuck cops dead fascists make no noise kinda way. be gay do crime icons.

the rowdy three is a group composed of martin, cross, gripps, and vougel. they are lead by martin who is white but the rest of them are POC. a lot like the ultra v’s. unlike the ultra v’s the characters (or character because vougel is the one who gets the most character development in season two) have an impact on the story, even more than just the token white leader.

im not going to pretend like the representation is perfect, of course its not these guys did cross and gripps dirty in the second season, but the entire rowdy three arch in the second season focuses on amanda (a canonly physically and mentally disable person) and vougel (a canonly asian person) trying to find their friends. AND MIGHT I ADD THE ARCH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ROMANCE!!!! sorry i just get to excited about these two

now lets look at the poc side characters in the danger days comics. we have volume who got killed as soon as he showed up, vinyl who does like nothing for the plot except stand there (bless his soul but sir please val just shot dee), and vaya and vamos who are icons but also the last ambiguously brown characters and serve as antagonists it seems (or at least how the comics want to show them? im not quite sure where the comics were going with them honestly)

only two of them have personalities and none of them do anything for the plot accept follow around the white guy. fantastic.

oh also this is mainly about poc characters but can i just say amanda seems like a more developed disabled character than dee? she isnt in a wheel chair or anything but her pararibulitis stops her from going out and doing things until she realizes its following her so an attack can happen anywhere. i dunno she is a cool character and as someone who suffers from hallucinations and sensory issues that mimic the fake thing they created for the show its really important to me that a disabled character is able to do something with themself instead of sitting in their radio shack and then getting shot by a white dude for plot. thats a nitpick i think i just like figured i would put it here while im ranting about the comics.

this is really long so im going to end it here because this is all i had to say about the matter but if the new comics pull this shit im revoking my gerard way stan title because he definitely has a part to play in all of this as the one over seeing the comics being made

I love the dichotomy of this emotional reaction that comes only partially from empathy/emotion, but also comes from a kinda self-centered need for success as measured by people under your command staying alive. and taking into account rodimus’s life it totally makes sense that he’d act like that...GAH I love it. the complexity of it all!

oh man that last panel of trailbreaker holding up roller’s juice box...iirc the first time I read this I thought that was roller (cause of the juice box I guess? idk I'm an idiot) so I was like oh ok he must've come back or something. very much related but I didn't really think about tarn being a particular pre-established character and totally didn't read the whole ‘roller is tarn’ thing that was going on 

which in my defense ruth also didn't pick up on any of that while reading this and eventually like 2 issues before the reveal I had to prompt her like ‘you should maybe be wondering WHO tarn is’ vhbahjksdfbaksjdf

so! issue 37! this issue is a solid favorite of mine, id say definitely top 5 or even 3. I'm super biased bc I fucking LOVE time travel, it’s seriously one of my favorite tropes ever, and this issue hits all the time travel beats I love. characters traveling to the past and interacting with people they know! conversations that have multiple meanings bc of TIME TRAVEL! trying to save someone who meets a terrible fate in your future! fun time travel action! the time traveling characters being generally terrible at hiding the fact that they're time travelers! ITS SO GOOD. 

and I love the clever way everything is tied together here - where we get a nice continuation of shadowplay, with this taking place shortly after that with a lot of the same cast, and time travel classics like the good ole ‘if we hadn't travelled back in time and done what we did, the future we came from wouldn't have existed at all,’ in the flavor of ‘rodimus saving his baby self’ and ‘rodimus NOT saving trailbreaker’ and ‘everyone forgot about roller :(’ 

ok but like, did the lost lighters just go ‘oh well, guess rollers gone now.’ like they DID realize that the outlaw crew would have no idea what happened to him if they got their memories erased, right?? did the lost lighters figure that since roller never reappeared after this time period, that was how history was ‘supposed’ to go and they shouldn't mess with it? am I overthinking it? as usual: yes, probably. I love overthinking about comics, in case that wasn't obvious

basically...I love this issue soooo much. so so good and a bunch of fun tropes that I love. I mean the whole arc is like that for me since I love time travel so much. so I cant wait to (re)read more!!

Let the Drag, Drag-on.

I’m so clever.  This title was able to combine my hope for the continued growth of Dragcon and my favorite episode of Adventure Time, “Randy”.  With that kind of creativity, it’s only a matter of time before someone of importance reads this and throws dollars my way!  You know, for me to do this professionally?  Since I find myself funny?  I sound like a jackass right?  I seem like the kind of person that looks at something and goes, “OH!  I can do that!”  Well…I am that person.  That applies to mostly everything I encounter.  However, Drag is NOT one of those things!   

I wish I could say its because of my beard, but apparently glitter is a good fix for that issue.  I would say I’m too tall but, nope, there’s plenty of queens at my height of 6 foot 3 inches.  So why would I not be able to do it?  Its a question I ask myself whenever I am in a situation and I really don’t have much knowledge on the matter.  RuPauls Drag Race is in its 9th season, (Well 11th if you’re counting 2 seasons of Allstars), and I only started watching this year after their move to VH1 coupled with the arm twisting of my girlfriend.   Drag is something near and dear to her heart and I owed it to her to give it a chance.  Now I’m not the biggest consumer of reality TV but I do have to say, it’s quite entertaining.  I love all the quips, sarcasm and double entendres that are pumped out by the second on the show.  So with that in mind, when my girlfriend decided she wanted to travel to LA to attend Dragcon, and wanted me to go, I said “eh, what the hell.”  

I didn’t know what to expect.  I am not a Drag virgin mind you.  I’ve had frequented the Stonewall Inn on many occasions.  But I never looked at it as anything other than a comedy act.  Which is what I thought Drag was.  Once I saw RuPauls Drag Race, and eventually the con itself, i quickly realized that this performance art is much more than sassy jokes and making insecure straight men uncomfortable.  So, I decided to anal-yze (see what I did there?), how I would go about learning the ropes of Drag culture by watching the customers and fellow attendees of Dragcon.  

It’s easy to learn from the professionals to know what to do but it’s better to look at the amateurs to see what NOT to do.  I personally believe thats how you create your own style.  I do that with comic books on the daily.  A great mixture of artists both professional and amateur will help you more than trying to just emulate the pros.  However, doing so at Dragcon was no easy task.  Simply because it’s not quite clear what’s considered Drag culture and what’s considered, as I like to call it, the “Notice me Senpai” look.  There are no shortage of Drag Stars in the world today.  You have 9 seasons of Queens to choose from.  So aside from becoming your own custom Drag Queen, you have plenty of iconic looks to choose from.  Cosplay is a big part of conventions.  I should know.  I’ve been to my fair share of them.  Both as a consumer and at the artist alley.  But I always see one of 2 things: Normal nerd gear or Straight up Cosplay.  But at Dragcon I saw something else.  I saw plenty of women and men dressed in neon ripped shirts, unicorn jump suits, half random body paint, bright colored wigs and bright pink tutu’s that had no connection to Drag or Drag culture in my opinion.  

I understand Drag Con is the celebration or ALL gay culture.  Thanks, noted.  I also know since I’m heterosexual I will never get it in your eyes, but I know if I were a Drag Queen and I worked countless hours at clubs and free time perfecting my make-up skills for performances and sacrificing my body and being ridiculed by lots of people on to being the best at my passion, I’d be a little annoyed that non-drag contributors feel comfortable dressed in nonsensical rave attire and it’s being connected to my genre.  Drag work is very meticulous.  Every stroke of arm movement, every application of contour and every song choice for performance is predicated on the creation of something artistic.  The other things I mentioned are just random neon clothing with hopes of getting attention and add nothing to Drag.  Now my feelings on this can be completely wrong.  It’s just how I feel at the moment.  I am a man of science though.  And in science, our opinions change with new information.  But if I were a Queen, the last thing i’d want to see are people using my passion as an excuse to dress like rave buffoons.  Something they would never wear in the real world like the dorky comic book t-shirts I wear during conventions and in real life.    

The convention itself was AMAZING.  The panels were great and the products were fun.  The staff and security at the Los Angeles Convention Center were exquisite and knowledgable.  I can’t say enough nice things about my experience there and how they handled 40,000 attendees.  So lets touch on things I would change instead.  I saw a post boasting about the 2hr wait time for meeting Alyssa Edwards.  Waiting on lines at conventions is nothing new.  But at comic book conventions, they are usually reserved for panels or a custom drawing from a well known artist/celebrity.  I’ve seen long lines for Jim Lee at conventions to get an autograph from him.  But you know what i never see from Jim Lee?  He having a full blown conversation with each fan.  If this some how gets to any of the Queens, please keep your comments with the fans SHORT.  Conventions are about TURNOVER.  With 40,000 people in attendance, someone from the DragCon staff should have relayed the message to the Queens to keep comments short and keep the line moving.  A 2 hour wait for a picture is absurd.  This isn’t something to elicit glorious praise.  Being an entertainer is much more than your performance.  Noticing things like this will help you reach many fans much quicker.  That’s more people to take pictures with and more people tagging/hash tagging you.  Personal experiences can be done at your OWN private events.  Not at conventions creating unnecessarily long lines.  I know i may seem petty and it may be undermining the incredible achievement of Drag Con, and I totally am not but hey, I get annoyed at dumb stuff.  Two hour waits for a cell phone pic and merch is not something to brag about. 

The con came to a close in a great way.  It was a 40-50 minute speech by RuPaul herself focusing on self healing and self motivation. Then the reveal that DragCon will be in NYC on Sept.30-Oct.1st. I won’t go through the details of the speech because I believe it should only be for the people who were able to get into the theater room.  But I will say this, I didn’t agree with every thing that was said, however, this did resonate with me personally.  The story Ru told of her as a child and feeling abandoned is a problem I deal with daily.  It’s why I stayed in terrible relationships and its why I stayed at toxic work environments.  I recently started to chase my dream in comic books after leaving a terrible work situation and up until that story, I was questioning the decisions I’ve made regarding that.  I am not thinking like that anymore.  Thank You RuPaul for reigniting my confidence to continue to chase my dream.  Especially when it was something I didn’t know I needed to hear.
