we talk so much as a fandom about the oaks having tragedy in their blood. and they do. literally. but now I wanna talk about the stamplers and their tragedy. so bare with me while I get poetic, talk about generational trauma, and get some feelings out.

I haven't seen AMOD but I know enough to know Stud does have tragedy in him.

Ron has tragedy in his blood. he has since he was young. with his mother always sick and a father that cruel he knew he was born to tragedy and I feel like that's part of why he's so hesitant to call himself Terry's dad. part of it is because being a dad means repeating what his dad had done, at least in Ron's eyes, and he couldn't imagine EVER making Terry feel the way he felt or hurting Terry the way he was hurt. but also because being his dad meant being family. and that meant Terry was open to the curse of being a stampler. Samantha too. and Ron will never forgive himself for falling and giving the two of them that curse.

Terry knew about the curse too. he saw Ron's childhood. he knew how that went. so he over corrected. he could protect Scary and Veronica from the stampler curse. and if Scary hated him? he understood. but he'd keep her safe. and in his effort to keep her safe, he died to the stampler curse, by the hands of someone who he trusted and directly influenced by Willy Stampler himself.

the curse lays on Scary's shoulders now and I think she knows that. Willy Stampler is a curse to all of them but the stampler curse still lays heavy in their family, married in or by blood.

tldr the stamplers are cursed and I think about Beth's quote from this past teen talk about once a day since I heard it.

im going to bed in a minute bc i'm sleepy tired but i am trying 2 figure out books i want to read for the next little bit. i'm reading kingdom of sweets right now and taking a break from the ojibwa dance drum bc kingdom of sweets is a very seasonal book and i want to get it read before christmas, and then i'll try and get back to the ojibwa dance drum after that. i want to do ink blood sister scribe i think as one of my first books in january and then at some point in february/march i want to read belleweather but other than that... we'll see what botm does for its boty selections and go from there in terms of doing polls for what to read next

#shay speaks #do any of you care? probably not but i need to put this into writing somewhere #fsr botm thinks my birthday is in december even tho it never asked for my birthday???#so i got two books this month #and bc i have gotten 12 boxes with them i get a free boty finalist book but they wont announce those for at least a week #so we'll see what i want from that list. i wont argue with free #but idk ink blood sister scribe feels like it would be a good winter book and thats gonna be why i want to read it come january #and belleweather i want to read before tourism season starts again so i can critique it from a historical perspective #but everything else... we'll see we'll see #i might go back to doing polls as a mix of botm and other books i own and need to read #and i might try reading 2 books at once one as a poll choice and one my own choice #idk idk we'll see we'll see

ithren wants to use so many ellipses all the time and I have to consciously restrain them. I do leave some in (deliberately) but there are so many more that I edit out or rephrase to avoid them. ithren just wants to visually distance themselves from the apparent ease of the words they are using all the time! and I get it! all of this is in translation for them! but my dude

#translation from pure intention tbc not from another language #also i guess the words probably appear in the journal in real time which would be Wild if ithren had any concept of being observed #i like to picture the journal just has a temporary “x is typing...” message so that if Whitlock were awake at the time #he could see ithren stopping and starting #bc reasonably speaking thats what all of these ellipses would be; the ones that stay in are the ones ithren chooses to write down #or like. an ink blot (of blood??) where they rest their pen or whatever #ithren #reforged campaign
