Hello Hana, I hope you're doing well 😊 so recently I've been reading Sherlock Holmes and read some good scenes that fueled something in my brain.

You and Lilia have been pretty good at covering up the series of crime you two committed. Unfortunately, due to some technical errors, the police was already on the way here before you two could. You swear that he did it on purpose, when you saw him smiled, as the police car's siren becomes closer and closer.

"It took them quite a long to catch us in the act, but I'm not one to undermine someone's effort."

You almost smacked him in the head, when he walked to a nearby window, giving his location the police below. You grabbed his shoulders and pulled the curtains to cover yourselves. "Lilia! What were you doing?!" you hissed.

He just laughs, "You worry too much sweetcheeks. We'll be fine."

You shake him in hopes to fix his loose screws in the head. "What do you mean fine?! We're surrounded!" you stopped shaking him and looked at the stairs when you heard footsteps, hastily going up the stairs.

"Seems like you've given them an aid while you were scolding me," he chuckles.

"It's completely your fault why I screamed! I've already had plans to escape, but were foiled when they were able to pinpoint that were still here!" you scolded him as both of you ran up the stairs.

He almost escaped, if only he didn't help you when you trip on the carpet on the floor. The police men eagerly handcuffed both of your hands together, guiding you two out of the building. Reporters were outside, sharing to the world that both of you were finally caught and that the citizens don't have to worry anymore.

As you two reach the car, and they were about to shove both of you inside, Lilia squatted down, bringing you along as you two were chained together. He then uses his legs to kick the policemen behind, and grabbed the gun using his free hand. You almost would have kissed the floor, if it weren't for your reflexes with how fast he moves. He stands up, bringing you along, and hugged you closer to his chest (re-using that scene from my general lilia ask 😆 lmao when will I experience this in real life). You heard several gun shots, and you crumpled his vest under your free hand from worry.

Both of you opened the police car and went inside. He sat on the driver's seat with you beside him, locking the door with your free right hand. He uses his right hand to pull the-stick-thing (I forgot what its called 😭), and you glared at him with how harshly he did so as your left hand was tied to his left. As you guys left the scene with the police car, you broke the silence between you two.

"Lilia what the hell was that? We could've gotten shot or died! We can just escape the cell with their help, considering we were just aired on live TV."

"Here I thought you'd finally praise me. I save you, you know?" he rolled the steering with only one hand and smirked at your annoyed face.

"You mean using me as a shield, so you don't get shot?" You rolled your eyes.

Lilia sighs as his advances were once again thwarted by you. He will soon definitely soften that rock hard heart.

This might sound creepy, but I somehow stumbled upon your older posts about Moriarty the Patriot and your criticisms of the series, and I’m really sorry about all the hate you’ve received for simply stating your opinion about a FICTIONAL work. Though I personally really like the series, I can definitely see eye to eye with some of your objections and it’s appalling that people are so sensitive to a mere difference of opinion about a work of fiction. For instance, the bit about the French Revolution really bothered me as well. Now I’m not French, so I don’t have the most informed opinion on this, but Robespierre was definitely not the sort of person anyone should glorify - the guy was a maniac. It’s really frustrating to see uninformed people continue to put him on a pedestal. Not to mention, the French Revolution bit is literally never brought up again lmao - like what was it even there for??

This is why I tend to keep my distance from fandom in general, it’s so much more peaceful this way. I hope you find some like minded fandom friends with whom fandom becomes a source of joy, like it’s supposed to be. Take care <3

Honestly, the hate I get for my opinions on MTP was not really an issue. I had worse and my "attackers" were obviously young people. I remember being younger, I remember being stupid and too aggressive with different opinions than mine (I never harassed someone tho).

I will say bc it's important, but I will never judge someone for liking Moriarty The Patriot. I will never give you the side eye if it's your favorite (not like if it's Mushoku Tensei, I will judge you hard, but I will never review this thing bc I will never read it again). It has qualities that I am simply indifferent to.

I think the manga would have been a lot better if it was in a steampunk universe. The unrealistic moments, the exaggerated overcompetence of the main characters, their overdeveloped technology, the inacurate historical events... It would have not solved everything, but like this you can just change the logic and the history of your world. So the French Revolution could have happened however you want (as a French, it would have still pissed me off but It's a minor problem). And it would force the author to abandon this idea to represent the realist picture of the England of this time when they're not even trying.

I will continue my review of MTP until I'm tired of it. It could happen soon, I'm sick of the sexism.

Don't you think it's funny cause actual canon gay characters in BL manga will say "I love you" but only the shounen bromance can spew out some of the most romantic shit akin to a 19th century poet writing a letter expressing his surpressed love for his lover 😭.....

Some of the lines of shounen manga between two boys are insane, and definitely why they get themed promise jewellery, lmao

But on a serious note, I'd say its because of genre expectation. There's definitely a ~ vibe ~ around BL manga (the same as the vibe around yaoi) and what the audience expects from it and its characters. BL carries an atmosphere and connotation that Shoujo doesn't. It's kind of why I'm reluctant to actually explore it that much. (I keep almost starting Sasaki to Miyano, but the fact it is labelled BL kinda puts me off.)

In that light, I can see why things like Yoshida insisting Banana Fish isn't BL happen - especially around the time it was originally published. That being said, the love story is so intrinsically baked into Ash and Eiji's relationship that you can't not read it like that. (Not without a lot of effort.)

And I kind of prefer that to an 'I love you.' There's something about not saying it, and leaving it as subtext, that I enjoy more. Probably for the same reason at the 19th century poet - it means more. It's says more.

I've been Banana Fish centric, but the same applies to things like Vanitas no Carte and Moriarty the Patriot too. There's something special about not needing to say it outright.

Maybe that's just because I've been on tumblr for so long that queerbaiting and subtext is what I'm most used to, and, honestly, get a little nostalgic for.
