Summary: Lewis Hamilton is part-time Formula One driver and full-time fashion icon. And so is his girlfriend, Y/N Y/L/N, who's also known as a real life Barbie.

Warnings: None... but a lot of pink XD. Also this story is set in December 2023, so no broken hearts over Lewis going to Ferrari... actually maybe just a little teaser.

Author's Note: Hi Anon! This request is great and thank you so much for it, it definitely is good enough! :) I had fun writing and creating this, even though at the end it's kind of different than what I firstly intended to do. The original idea was to make Y/N very Barbie coded, but at the end I'd say she's Barbie inspired and I focused more on the fashion icon part of the request. Though there's a sweet storyline about why her nickname is Barbie, so I hope you won't be disappointed! :)

When you're 18-24 i think all u should really be doing is like. chilling, recovering from highschool, smoking cigs, taking photos, listening to songs, reading, trying different clothes, playing outside, Soaking eveything up like a sponge, taking it *in*...taking it all in then thru trial & error figuring out what Really resonates !! and PPL will try to tell u its a waste of time, dont listen!!!! create stuff but dont put pressure on urself to be good at anything yet. dont feel pressure to like, have solidified into something permanent yet? ifthatmakes sense.. goof around a lot, dont limit yourself to any existing structures, be new & expansive, open minded.

And just chill :] look around at your world all the time and think "Wow. I'm 18 and i'll never be 18 again and life is beautiful." i still do this for every age i ever am i think its so imporant to do this. 📣ANNOUNCEMENT📣 THE BIG 2024 PROJECT

At long last, I'm announcing what I've been working on🥁

Starting February 6th and continuing every other Tuesday through at least mid-December, this blog will be highlighting the work of various illustrators of A Tale of Two Cities over the many decades since its initial publishing!💫

As it stands right now, the archive will span from the very beginning in 1859 all the way through about 1992 (with a heavy density at the turn of the century) and will contain just under 500 individual illustrations by 20 individual illustrators — in styles ranging all the way from pen to painting and abstraction to realism✍️

All of these numbers will continue to grow, however, because this is an ongoing project! In fact I expect the queue to continue through a good portion of 2025 as I keep finding and archiving more and more — there's just so much out there! For this reason I am not posting these in a sorted order — I looked at what I have right now and ordered them to feel random and balanced, with some themed for certain months😎

Also! A large percentage of these (about half of the artists and well over half of the total illustrations) are coming from sources difficult or impossible to find on the Internet and are instead coming from my own scanning work: When I would discover in my research editions that I knew to have work by new illustrators whose pages weren't available for online viewing, I would seek out and buy those editions for super cheap online and scan them on my own printer's scanner — so for a lot of the old illustration work that this blog will be posting, it will possibly be the first time some of these have ever been uploaded for public view on the Internet!🤩

As far as keeping the archive organized on this blog, the organizational tag for these posts will be " #illustrators ", and I will also tag each post with the highlighted artist's name and with the decade in which each set of illustrations was initially published (as far as my research tells me)🏷️

On the off-weeks, this blog will be posting its usual miscellany, with a sprinkling of behind-the-scenes and extras for this specific project. But starting next week and continuing every other Tuesday* through about the entire year, expect a new post highlighting the work of a given A Tale of Two Cities illustrator — and be prepared because sometimes the number of illustrations on a single post will be in the tens/dozens since Tumblr increased the max image count for a single post to 30! *with the exception of April, which is going to have a special schedule for reasons you'll see when the queue gets there👀

Suga x Reader - Break A Leg

The auditorium echoed in the sound of squeaky shoes and boyish yells. The Karasuno volley ball team were practicing, this was evident by the amount of swearing that could be heard. A certain fiery redhead and gimlet gazed king were in heated argument. 

“Kageyama!” Hinata shouted once more, his sets weren't consistent enough to land any good spikes. 

“I'm trying! Maybe if you weren't such a baby you could move for the ball”  

Hinata huffed at this comment, ready to spike the pompous king in his face. But before he could do so, a lovestruck Suga waltzed into the hall. His pale cheeks were tinted rose, his smile warm and inviting. Suga was normally a calm, but never blissful. 

“Suga you’re pretty late” Daichi called, not too focused on the snow haired setter. 

“Mhm” He called back. In his arms he carried a thick stack of papers. He hadn't come to practice volley ball, but instead to pin up said papers. 

“What are you doing Suga?” Hinata shouted, pausing his argument for a moment. Now the whole team was curious, turning their gazes to Suga. Who was currently smoothing down a dark poster against their notice board. 

“Have you heard of the play the drama club is doing?” He asked the group, back still turned to them. 

“Oh yeah! Opera Ghost thingy”  

“Phantom of the Opera, dumbass”  

“Well, guess who’s staring in it!” Suga turned round, eyes splashed in glitter. 

The whole team smiled in knowing. The only person who could ever get Suga this excited was... 

“Y/N?” They said in union. 

“Yes! And its next week so you all better be there!” he pointed at the boys before making an exit. He had to put up all the poster before the morning bell. 

The next week was a busy one for the drama club, their clubroom a menagerie of makeup and costumes. Suga watched his step when walking in. Most members were dashing around, preparing for the dress rehearsal, he could barely make out your figure amongst the mess. 

He knocked his fist against the doorframe, trying to catch anyone’s attention. “Has anyone seen Y/N?” he called.  

“Hi~”  

He flinched as a pair of familiar arms draped around his shoulders. He turned to find you. 

“Nice mask” He joked, fiddling with the end of the iconic half face. He was surprised to say the least upon hearing that you were playing the Phantom. 

“Things seem pretty busy”  

“Yes, everyone's super hyped!” you smiled; he found your excitement to be adorable. 

“Y/N! We need you on stage in 5 minutes!”  

You turned to your boyfriend, lending him an exhausted smile.  

“I better get go-” 

His lips pressed against yours, a quick but sweet goodbye. 

“Break a leg” he smiled, his forehead lingered on your own before he left. 

“Thanks” 

The night had finally arrived, the night of which the whole school had been buzzing about. 

“Guys come on! We might be late!” Suga stressed, his breath like smoke in the cold winter air. The whole karasuno Volley Ball team stood outside the auditorium, freezing their asses off whilst waiting for Hinata to tie his laces. 

“Okay done!” The red head announced and the group pushed inside.  

In a rushed shuffled they all pushed each other to take a seat, they arrived just in time before the start. 

“Good evening, ladies and Gentlemen!” An overly dramatic voice announced, in obvious theater kid fashion. 

“On this cold December night, we welcome you to join us in...” 

“Phantom of the Opera!” 

On command the classic theme song erupted throughout on the room, commencing the beginning of the play. Suga couldn't wait to see what you had been working on for these past months. 

After awhile of flowery dancing and some lady singing with a decapitated head in her hand, finally, and I mean finally the Phantom had arrived. 

The audience had been awaiting this scene, for it was the most compelling. 

A honeyed light spilled from the ceiling, casting upon the Phantom and Christine as the two actors glided across the stage. Suga felt his heart race beneath his chest as you brought the actor close to you, your voice like that of a siren. He watched your long midnight cape drag behind your figure, gloved hands gesturing as you sung. Despite the dark and foreboding nature of the Phantom, Suga could still make out the twinkling eyes beneath the ghost-like mask. You were loving this. Each time you came closer to edge of the stage he felt his chest tighten; you were so enchanting to him. And when you disappeared behind the curtains he felt his heart slightly wilt, wishing to see and hear more of you. 

“Thank ladies and Gentlemen! Have a great night!” 

The crowd erupted in cheer, shaking the walls of the hall with screaming and clapping. Even Suga shouted, surprising his team mates. 

Him and the rest of the group waited outside for you as waves of crowds spilled out from the doors, before finally, you came out. 

“Y/N!” He waved, drawing your attention, you still wore your phantom outfit, too preoccupied to return it. 

He pulled you into a hug, grasping onto your figure and holding your head against his shoulder. 

“You were amazing” he whispered, kissing the top of your head. You blushed beneath your mask, ducking further into his chest. 

“Thank you” you mumbled, earning a laugh from him. 

And Thus the Volleyball player and his phantom went home for the night, Ready to discuss the entirety of the play. 

“I like the part when the Phantom was there” 

“Pfft”

How old is everyone in "F" is for Family?

First things first, I hope you're excited for the second to last chapter(s) of "F" is for Family! 🥳🤩 Thanks for sticking around!

Given some of the timeline specifics that come up in this chapter, I felt it might be helpful to give you an explanation of how old everyone is supposed to be in my fic, so these time skips don't feel as random.

Math admittedly isn't my strong suit but I've double-checked my calculations repeatedly and am feeling somewhat confident in the numbers I came up with.

DISCLAIMER: Like most things that come up in my fic, these ages are just my headcanons. Don't take any of this as actual fact or canon! The one thing you should take away from this is that cartoon logic is weird AF which makes it hard to say anyone's ages are canon tbh.

Explanations/ramblings - and SPOILERS - below the cut!

♥️ Tragic 🤡

SpongeBob

I'm starting with our favorite little yellow friend here because I think he is where much of the age discussion first came up - starting with a certain driver's license that showed up in the episode, "Sleepy Time."

It says he was born in 1986, which would mean that we just celebrated in 37th birthday in July. However, there is one problem with this... the episode in question's debut air date is January 17, 2000.

If we go off the idea that he is canonically 37 as of July 14, 2023, this would mean that he was only 13 YEARS OLD in January 2000. In my country (the U.S.), if SpongeBob was 13, he wouldn't be old enough to:

Work at the Krusty Krab, especially not full-time.

Live on his own without a parent and/or guardian.

Attain a driver's permit, let alone a license. He'd have to wait another two years just to do the former.

I've considered the possibility that perhaps this episode doesn't actually take place during the actual air date. However, SpongeBob's driver's license also kinda debunks that theory. The expiration date is listed as December 14, 2003. Driver's licenses typically expire up to five years of issue date (depending on the state or country). This would, thus, confirm the episode takes place during 2000 or even earlier than that - making SpongeBob even younger than 13.

Seeing as SpongeBob is confirmed to be an adult during the series and is eligible to do the things listed above, this doesn't really add up.

Therefore, while I do think SpongeBob is an adult who is likely in his 30's, I don't think he's actually 37 years old (assuming he even ages).

It's also worth mentioning that they removed his birthday from later appearances of the license, leading me to believe they didn't really think that through initially. Interestingly, the expiration date has remained mostly consistent so... 🫧✨cartoon logic✨🫧

Now, to put my fanfic headcanon hat on for the duration of this post.... 🤠

Based on the timelines in my fic, I actually think his age is closer to 32-34 years old at the absolute most.

I believe I've mentioned somewhere in the story about how he and Squidward started working together about a decade prior to the events of the fic. This would mean that SpongeBob was in his early twenties when he began working at the Krusty Krab. which makes much more sense than him being 13 lmao

Squidward

So, I don't actually know how I came up with Squidward's age in this fic aside from general fandom headcanon, though I did see somewhere that his birthday is October 9, 1977 - making him 45 years old.

However, given what my analysis above revealed, I'm going to take this with a truckload of salt (especially since the actual year isn't confirmed in any official capacity). If this were true, he'd be ~21 years old in May 1999 (i..e, when "Help Wanted" premiered), which I don't think is accurate for him not to mention super awks. He was likely closer to that age when Jim was still working there.

I do think he's at least close to BlackJack's age and a bit older than SpongeBob, Todd, and Stanley. Therefore, my headcanon age for him is about 38-40 years old.

Harold & Margaret

In Harold and Margaret's origin story during this chapter, Harold and Sherm's ages are the only ones explicitly given. At the time of the story - which takes place roughly 53 years ago - Harold was confirmed to be 15 years old and a freshman in high school. Given that she was also a freshman at the time, Margaret is likely the same age.

If we do the math, Harold - and presumably Margaret - are about 68 years old at the time of FifF.

Sherm & Jolie

As previously mentioned, Sherm's age is also confirmed: he was 12 years old and just started junior high (6th grade in U.S.) when Harold and Margaret's story takes place.

In his and Jolie's own story - which happens about 46 years prior to the present - Sherm and Jolie are both freshmen in college, making them about 19 years old at the time.

Again, if we do the math, Sherm - and likely Jolie - are about 65 years old in the present day.

Blue & Sally

Unlike Harold and Sherm, Blue's age is not directly confirmed in Harold and Margaret's story. However, it is confirmed that he was a senior in high school, and he was old enough to drive. Based on this info and his younger brothers' ages, Blue was about 18 years old during this time.

In chapter 4, Blue also mentions that he'd been on the police force for 35 years. It's worth noting that the average amount of time people spend in the police academy is between 2-4 years. Assuming Blue enrolled right out of high school (as the story implies) and joined the force ~20 years old, he would've been around 55 years old when he officially retired. I like to think he was more ambitious/eager to climb the ladder when he was younger but grew more content staying in his police captain role since its already pretty senior and he had a family at that time.

Blue and Sally's origin story takes place about 41 years in the past from the fic's start.

In this story, Blue is described as being "one of the youngest lieutenants the force has ever seen." I can't recall how I got to this number if I'm honest, but I rounded his age to about 30 years old here as it is still young but not too young as to be unrealistic. I also felt it made more sense in the timeline for him and Sally to have had BlackJack a few years later (I.e., after she got released).

If we do the math from there, Blue would be around 71 years old during the time of the fic.

It's not mentioned anywhere, and she is deceased, but my headcanon for Sally is that she's about 1-2 years younger than Blue. Therefore, she'd likely be about 69-70 years old if she were still alive. In chapter 5, BlackJack reveals that “[Sally’s] been dead for ten years,” so she was ~59-60 when she actually passed.

Todd

From this picture, it's clear Todd shares some physical similarities with SpongeBob. Therefore, I felt that it would be likely for them to be close in age as well.

Starting from chapter 2, when we first meet Todd and the rest of the family, it's implied that Todd is at least "slightly older" than SpongeBob. He is also explicitly mentioned to be Stanley's older brother throughout the fic.

In chapter 5, we get the following exchange between Todd and SpongeBob:

Todd: “Besides, I am the oldest one here, so it only makes sense." SpongeBob: “Todd, we’re the same age –” Todd: “But I’ve got two months on you so that still makes me older."

Based on this, we can discern that Todd is also somewhere between 32-34 years old. Since he's two months older than SpongeBob, his birthday would take place sometime in May.

Stanley

While Stanley's canonical age is also not given, I got the impression that he was a bit younger than SpongeBob in his episode, "Stanley S. SquarePants." Stanley's curiosity about the world around him and his absentmindedness could be contributing factors to this, though that's not really indicative of age. In actuality, I felt it was SpongeBob taking him under his wing akin to a mentor or older sibling that really solidified this idea.

Therefore, in FifF, he's the baby of the group. 😇

Speaking of which, in chapter 13 (mini spoiler for next chapter when it goes live), it is mentioned that he was a baby while his older brother was a toddler - which would make Todd between the ages of 2-3 years old at the time.

With this range in mind, Stanley would be a few years younger than both Todd and SpongeBob, making him about 29-31 years old in the fic (assuming the other two are ~33).

BlackJack

BlackJack's age (in my headcanon) was more dependent on Blue's age between the time he met Sally and when they realistically would've had him together. I also felt he'd be closer in age to Squidward than he would be to his younger cousins.

Assuming his parents had him shortly after Sally got released from prison, BlackJack would be roughly 37-38 years old in the present day.

Grandma & Grandpa (Dotty & Simon)

Grandma and Grandpa SquarePants - or as I've named them, Dotty and Simon - met about 76 years ago.

While most prima ballerinas are slightly older than this (~25-30), Dotty was about 20 years old when she met Simon. He was likely a few years older than her, so I'd presume he was about 23-24 at the time.

With these numbers in mind, Grandma is about 96 years old during the events of FifF. While he is deceased and I didn't mention how long he'd been gone, Grandpa was likely between 97-99 years old when he passed.

I couldn't get into AO3 for the last few days due to busy life. That's why I couldn't read the current chapters when they came out. But it was definitely worth the wait!!

Your writing is one that I have always admired and liked. You've never been disappointed, in fact, I'm going to say something that shocked me in a moment.

Reading Lando's growth in the story arc was what excited me the most.🤩 Because you write it like it's real and it feels incredible. Carlos is truly boyfriend material. 😌 Very rare and affectionate, a value that should not be lost once found. Although Lando had trouble, he ultimately chose to trust Carlos and lean on him. Likewise, he got Carlos to trust and lean on him. I see Lando as a grown man now🥹❤️

In the last episode, Carlos' act of trusting Lando like this was my dream for this story! Ah, I forgot to mention myself ups… I wrote to you in December if Lando could be on top and we talked twice about how it could or shouldn't. 😅 You gave great answers, you said you gave up then but maybe we could see a chance.

Can you believe it, I never expected to see it like this and I literally screamed while reading it! IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL AHHH!😭💛 I hope we can see the end in the next episode because I love it so much!🥹❤️

Fanmerch: おじゅ (Ohju/ouka)

Early in December 2023, one of my favorite artists posted that she was going to be selling a 2024 daily calendar for the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy VI.

I was so excited for this that I immediately went through the processes of setting up a shipping account for purchasing items from Japan to be shipped to the US.

The calendar arrived last week and I'm ecstatic. For lots of reasons. I don't even know where to start.

First, let me say that this artist - whose handle is Ohju (おじゅ), and whose store name is Ouka (追歌) - is an absolutely delightful and generous person. It's because of her help that I was able to learn how to set up the process of shipping to the US. She's fielded some of my weird (but hopefully respectful) questions, and has overall just been extremely kind and patient when she didn't need to be. A very sincere and appreciative どうもありがとうございます to her. ❤️

Okay, the next amazing thing is that she sent me more than just the calendar. In fact, the package I received included the following items that I was not expecting:

3 postcards (one of which is a GORGEOUS illustration of Hydaelyn from FFXIV)

3 sheets of stickers

1 sheet of stamps

4 sheets of stationary

A mini zine she made named Relic Hearts that features illustrations of various FF6 accessories (this is akin to her amazing art depicting FF6 weapons for SWORDTEMBER 2020)

A handwritten envelope with a handwritten note inside it. HANDWRITTEN, people! That's a touch of love right there!

Here are some pictures of these delightful extras. The first picture is how everything was packaged when it arrived.

To reiterate, these are all things that were sent in addition to the calendar, which I haven't even talked about yet. I was truly blown away and became giddy like a child, like they were a bunch of surprise birthday gifts. THANK YOU for all these extras, Ohju-san! 🤩

So - the calendar itself. The first part is a 36-page booklet that contains empty spaces labeled with a month and day. The second part is a small, prism-shaped desk display containing seven sets of peelable stickers. The stickers are similarly labeled with a month and day, and the idea is that each day you peel off the current day's sticker and put it in the matching space in the booklet.

Her illustration on this depicts the process much more clearly than my bumbling text.

The dates in the empty spaces in the booklet are sometimes sequential, but sometimes not, so you can't always predict how the stickers are going to line up.

Each page in the calendar also contains some reflections and thoughts from Ohju-san herself about FF6, detailing some of her own history with the game as well as some of her own headcanons.

The calendar doesn't "start" until April 1st, 2024, so for now I'm just holding onto everything. I'm honestly a little scared to even use it; everything is so beautiful that part of me wants to just preserve it in its packaging forever. But that's not what Ohju-san intended, so come April 1st, I'll peel my first sticker to put into the booklet, and will then have another 364 days to look forward to.

Finally, a few other artists also contributed pieces to the calendar. I haven't seen any of their pieces yet, but six pages of the calendar are dedicated for their stickers, so I know which dates will be theirs.

I'm intentionally limiting the pictures I post in order to respect Ohju-san and the other artists' work. But here are a few pictures of the calendar materials.

There's even a guide sheet for where everything goes, just in case you get lost (which I absolutely will).

Anyway, this is one of the most amazing collections of fan merchandise I've ever seen. I'm extremely grateful to Ohju-san, and I can't wait to start using this calendar.

My wife had to leave back to Hungary with her partner and it makes me so sad but life goes on and thankfully digital means exist 🥹🥹🥹 I really do hope one day we could try and live together for a bit.

Even so! I am super grateful for the week they were here and we got to spend time with my parents as well since they dote on her. I did however realise that we as a family are all history geeks and wow. We don't know when to stop talking about stuff hahaha 😂

The one wish I had was just that my work and dissertation weren't so active in my head whilst they were here but that wasn't fortunately possible. So today was my first day back and I already felt the massive desire to not exist in this environment (by this I mean stay in bed and pretend I don't have work hours).

I am really worried about a balance. I have already had a burnout and like everyone I just want to have a manageable ratio between relaxing, fun, work and responsibilities. So! I got these:

The first is a notebook I bought at the Panorama Museum in Wroclaw, Poland and will be used for all my dissertation thoughts. It depicts one part of the Panorama painting that you can see in the museum and me being a history geek, I love it. I like using the digital such as notion but I think the physical writing would force me to analyse what I'm reading even more.

The second is a journal I bought at the Mauerpark Flee Market when I went last December. I had a journal but unfortunately I left it a friends house almost two years ago and i haven't been able to get it back yet but writing would do me good to dump the thoughts from my already full brain so! I won't lie reading Arthur's journal in RDR2 was also really inspiring again. I am positive it'll help me make time for myself in terms of contemplation.

Lastly, when I was in Lisboa, I managed to contact a second hand shop and get the only copy of the portuguese edition of a research Series about the Portuguese in the Americas. The title is "Land, As Far As the Eye Can See: Portuguese in the Old West" and I am very excited to read it. Especially since I always had an interest in the Old Frontier but now with having played RDR2 and beginning to play RDO it's even more. Especially since this gives me little gemstones for an OC I am making (so far her name in my mind is Adelaide Barros, or as they anglicised everything back then she'd be better known as: Addie Clay) 🤩

I am hoping the week continues well with it being my birthday on Sunday and I hope everyone else is having a good time 💐
