#.ix#their crest just isnt that large or impressive but they make up for it in Cowboy Swagger and being one of like a dozen brights on earth#their dunparent worked at shiikaviil port before it was handed over to humans and came to texas to help establish a spaceport#the spaceport….. fell through. just wasn’t viable to have ships fly through the atmosphere when theres a space elevator in brazil#it was one of tex’s dad’s many expensive projects#the other big one was the san antonio natal lab; SANL for short#that’s where xero came from as part of a project to design a gmh clade to reclaim aridified environments#when i say aridified you think ‘desert.’ think more like ‘moonscape#in my Headcanon Zone setting significant parts of south & west texas are so hot and dry that nothing lives there#save for lichens and triops and maybe; in ideal conditions; the smallest of cacti#mesquite and other keystone species are just Fucking Gone#so naturally this was an impossible task. but it didn’t help that SANL and the dust devil project was horrifically mismanaged#i should go to bed. you can tell ive thought so much about this story that takes place in a far off corner of a setting i didn’t even make#go read runaway to the stars. good night
