have you ever posted about Guillermo Navarro? i just learned that aside from being Robert Rodriguez and Guillermo del Toro's longtime cinematographer (and winning an Academy Award for Pan's Labyrinth) he was also the director of photography for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 *and* Part 2!? then he directed six episodes of Hannibal!? (he co-directed the video for Mía Maestro's "Blue Eyed Sailor" in 2012 but his first solo credit as a director was s1ep5 "Coquilles")
Tumblr media
I did, i knew him from the Hannibal episodes and knew he was previously a cinematographer until i saw him credited in breaking dawn part 1 and shook myself to death all night finding out he was the camera man last 2 movies and then went on to horror directing first directing one of my favorite episodes ever

Hi Gimlet. I'm on Chapter 5 of Revenge, which arrived on my Kindle overnight. The dates are a little fuzzy but it seems Meghan may have hired Sunshine Sachs as early as January 2013, for 7500 dollars a month. By that time she was earning 75k per episode on the 3rd series of Suits. She had become very full of herself and had already 'outgrown' her dad (he felt) and he also realised she had 'outgrown' Trevor. It was in Spring of 2013 that she dumped Trevor, whose parents had never liked her. She had made no effort to integrate with Trevor's family.
So in the first half of 2013 she had already started attending PR events set up by Sunshine Sachs. Tom Bower is describing a ruthlessly focused woman capable of playing a very long game.
Ah, so jealous you have the book! I can’t get it on Kindle yet, which is where I read everything. (If there are US readers with it on Kindle let me know how you got it.)
I’m curious about the source he cites her her salary. And if he uses qualifiers like, “It was reported” or “some sources say..” Bluntly speaking, $75k seems like the upper bound of what she would’ve made at the end, with all the publicity surrounding her relationship. Not in season 3 and not in 2013, on a lower budget cable show that had to shoot in Canada to save money.
I never watched Suits but from what I understand: it was on cable, it had a lot of episodes every season, and she was one character in a larger ensemble class. Some episodes she only appears in for a few minutes. And, she’s a woman in an industry KNOWN for horrific pay gaps. All of these play into her salary.
Getting real salary data for non A-list actors is hard, but sources cited in cases where lawsuits or controversy is involved can be a helpful benchmark.
Claire Foy made $40k per episode for the Crown, which has a $7m per episode budget. https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2018/03/13/the-crown-star-claire-foy-was-paid-less-than-her-male-co-star.html
Jussie Smollett made $45k per episode when he started on Empire and worked his way up to $125k by the 5th season. However, Empire was a Fox Network show on prime time with a heavyweight team behind it. https://www.forbes.com/sites/natalierobehmed/2019/02/22/police-say-jussie-smollett-case-was-about-money-but-he-earned-an-estimated-125000-an-episode/amp/
The Stranger Things kids made $20k per episode during its first two seasons before being bumped up to $250k+. Again, relatively heavyweight team behind this show and a larger budget. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/stranger-things-stars-score-massive-pay-raises-season-3-1094952/amp/
With these benchmarks, does her making $75k per episode in 2013 make sense?
