one of the craziest fixtures of Internet Debate is that thing where people goad others into insulting them so that they can leverage "being insulted" as evidencing the virtue of their argument
#remembering a twitter debate where someone kept trying to goad others into suibaiting them#(''i bet you all want me to kms dont you???'' over and over)#then the moment someone did it they pounced on it and made that their entire argument#no longer actually arguing their case but 'SEE the OTHER SIDE is going around SUIBAITING people'#and refusing on those grounds to meet any other argument on any other terms#'winning' the debate through virtuous victimhood#that was one of the big moments for me re: becoming disillusioned w twitter
