Did anyone else read the catboy sci-fi short story in middle school where an animal activist implants some weird hybrid embryo inside herself, gives birth to a honest to god catboy and the leaves because she cant deal with the fact that he cant live of off a vegetarian diet, so his scientist father who created the hybrid embryos in the fist place has to raise him alone and it ends with the three year old catboy killing his dad in a game of hide and seek

or was that a weird fever dream I had?

#like I know it was in some weird book #that was half filled with horrifying sci-fi short stories about the ethics of genetic manipulation and stuff #and the other half was just...a regular science book???#also about genetics but like a real scientific study book #it was weird #there was also this short story about this butterfly boy who died in a horrific way and it left me traumatised for a long time #i got the book in our school libary if that helps #it was a catholic school so it was an odd lucky find #also thi story about a clone who was supposed to be a living exchange part warehouse for organs killing her original and taking her place #because the original wanted to kill the clone by taking her kidney #like she had already donated one kidney but it wasnt enough so the organisation just decided to make the clone donate the other one to #and she had no say in it
