He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket as he was helping put away some boxes. He always had it on silent while he was working, and he made quick work of the boxes before pulling his phone out and answering, used to being called by unknown numbers wanting to sponsor his duelling that he’s had to turn down.

“Hello? Yugi Muto Speaking.” He spoke automatically in a slightly tired tone as he sandwiched his phone between his cheek and shoulder.

He drummed his fingers on the table, cellphone in hand. He could only really hope that the other would pick up.

He hesitated again, and then called.

Atem stopped dead in his tracks, his heart almost skipping a beat. He turned around to face the man, his eyes widened slightly as he found Kaiba's blue one. It was only for a second but Atem almost thought the other was joking. But everything Kaiba did, he did in seriousness, and he suspected that this was no different. He admired his bluntness. A small smile painted itself on Atem's face.

"I am yes, but I don't want to disturb you." he said honestly but the look on Kaiba’s face made Atem think twice about his answer. Kaiba had been honest with him just now, so Atem wanted to try and be a little bit selfish as well. 

“But if you are offering, I’d like that.” he said as he took a few steps forward, meeting Kaiba in the middle of the large room. 

“I’ll take the couch then.” he said as he placed a hand on the other's shoulder. 

“Get some sleep Kaiba.”

I'll throw out some of the options that seem fun to me, and if you want to write one of them, great! (Please forgive my longwinded ask.)

(A lot of the options seemed like they would be romantic, but I think these work for my personal, platonic desires.)

Rescue/Saved/Finally Safe (Knowing and/or befriending the Kaibas inherently brings risks, but presumably it's great to know they've got your back when it gets dangerous.)

In the Rain/Thunderstorms Outside (I don't know why "In a Thunderstorm" isn't an option. Do other people not enjoy that particular experience? It's just a peak high-sensory experience, and I have great memories of being out in Thunderstorms with various friends.)

Trust (Honestly, people trusting me is one of my favorite things, because I put effort and intention into being trustworthy. Mutual trust is at the heart of most of my fantasies.)

Cooking for Someone/Cooking Together (Because I love cooking with people. Legitimately have done it with friends in Real Life, and it's great. I think I like that it's hands-on, interacting with the world and making something together is what life is all about.)

Adventure (See my comments on 21. Only this time the reader gets to be more involved as an active participant. One of my favorite genres.)

Rescue.

Maybe rolling your eyes isn't the best idea in this situation, but you can't help yourself. "You really don't want to do this," you warn the men standing around you. "I'm sure whoever is paying you isn't paying enough." You're not joking. Anyone willing to pay enough would get better quality kidnappers. These guys have to be random thugs from a bar or something.

"Just shut up and put your hands in the air!"

"Well I warned them," you mutter to yourself. You raise your hands and while they're in the air, you press the button on your wristband. You wonder who will get here first as one of the men pats you down and takes your phone.

Then he tosses it to the ground and stomps on it.

"HEY!" You know Kaiba will replace it, but still, now you have to set up a whole new device. "What's wrong with you?!"

"We don't need your boyfriend tracking you before we get the ransom money." The man laughs. "What, do you think we're stupid?"

"Honestly, yes." You can't help but smirk. Kaiba must be rubbing off on you. "And he's not my boyfriend."

Then you hear the distinctive sound of a helicopter. Instead of looking up, you wait until the draft from the helicopter is blowing everyone's hair and clothes around. You take a step away from the man next to you. You don't want to be in the line of fire and none of the men are looking at you anymore anyway.

Kaiba swoops in with his jetpack, knocking over the man closest to you before landing dramatically low to the ground with one knee bent and the other leg spread out.

A high-pitched "HIYEEEEEEE!" can be heard over the noise of the helicopter as two more people land. The noise is coming from the smaller person, and he's wearing a helmet while brandishing a gun.

All the men begin screaming as he shoots wildly at them. The splashes of color give away the fact that he's wielding a paintball gun, but you don't think any of the men getting shot will notice that right away.

You tried to warn them, but nobody ever realizes it's the gremlin little brother that they really need to watch out for.

oh! i haven't done this recently you're all good! man it's been a long time since I saw this meme!!

My friends!! I'm not tagging everyone but man have I met a LOT of awesome people on tumblr, AO3, and discord... The yuumori fandom in particular is so talkative and friendly, but I've found people in each and every fandom I've joined. When I came back to fandom as an adult circa 2015 I honestly didn't expect that I'd find lasting connections like this.

"My" characters. I literally almost felt like naming each as an individual thing, but that would end up being more than 5 things. I don't think there is a yuumori character that wouldn't be on this list, but especially Louis, Albert, William, Sherlock, Mycroft, James Bonde, and Milverton should be on that list. Plus, Seto Kaiba, Trafalgar Law, Katakuri, Sanji, Marco the Phoenix, Sabo... most of these people have been described as "sad, wet little men" and I won't disagree, I'm fairly certain that's my type.

Writing/reading! The right combination of words can really make my brain happy. Anything from vivid, realistic depictions to heavy metaphor to just unique wordplay is so fun. I love it so much. It's great when I can think of it, it's great when I get to be lazy and read someone else's version of it. It's just great.

Cooking and good food. I love to eat and I really love it when I manage to make something I liked eating.

Painting miniatures - Something else I've spent way too much money on recently, but it's honestly not that hard? I'm not very crafty but there are so many tips and tricks and like. I started with this cute little space hamster and now I'm doing the minis that came in my copy of the Monster Hunter World Board game and like. I'm still really proud of them even though I'm a novice. (I guess images aren't allowed when I'm answering an ask?? So I'll add pictures in a reblog probably 😂)

Bonus! Board Games! This has already come up but I have... SO many board games. I have a weekly board game week with my fiance, his brother and one of our mutual friends. We switch on and off between legacy games like Monster Hunter World, CCGs like Magic the Gathering, and more traditional board games like Wingspan (which I'm naming because it's my favorite).

I've basically been doing very little with my time besides watching Shaman King 2021 so phew, here are some thoughts on Episodes 10-32!

Episode 10

The bit with everybody hanging out at the inn was adorable, hee.

I LOVE BOZ THEY'RE SO FUNNY

It's odd that Yoh is already paying that much attention to "Hao" considering the name has come up once? But yeah...

Ryu comes back!! And damn, he already qualified for the main tournament?

Bason and Ren are too cute. Also, it's interesting to watch Ren's mindset change and hee, we get the showdown against Tao En!

Episode 11

Phew — Ren gets captured by his Pops and the Zoldyck vibes INTENSIFY.

I don't remember the Tao family having their own Super Sentai Squad, but hey, it tracks!

It's a bit of a shame that these battles were concluded so quickly, but it was cool to see Horohoro and Ryu's upgrades!

Can't believe Tao Rn squeezed that poor baby panda to death only for it to be resurrected as a zombie in the next scene! SHEESH!

Episode 12

This episode also went at THE SPEED OF LIGHT! I cant believe we got Jun's dramatic rescue and the whole Tao En reveal and fight in the same episode! I mean, at this speed, Ren's deep loyalty to the gang does seem a bit goofy, but hey, I'll deal!

Ryu saying, "Just what exactly do you think wavering is?" had me laughing so much, oh man.

Episode 13

How is SO MUCH happeningin EVERY EPISODE?

Yoh and the crew leave home!

They meet Hao!

They get dropped out of a plane!

They meet Lilirara, who's really cool! There's sone backstory!

They go on their way — AND THEN LILIRARA DIES???

Wild!!!!

Horohoro continues to be adorable and guh, I'm really enjoying watching the episodes dubbed... honestly, the dub iis really, really good!

Episode 14

WHEEE LYSERG THE DOOFUS IS HERE... to be honest he's a lil green Sherlock. Isn't it nice that everyone has a colour-coded Oracle Bell lol Yoh's is orange and Lyserg's is green... it's been like 15 years but I still don't know if I've forgiven him for what comes later. Whoops.

Anna is such a great character and I love how much bearing she has on the story.

New ending! And it's Iron Maiden Jeanne!!

Also, the goof with 6 years versus 8 years... Lyserg's parents definitely weren't killed 6 years ago, sheesh.

Episode 15

Okay, so this was one of the eps where the pacing was definitely painful. Anna got a (hodgepodge) version of Hao's backstory — honestly, why didn't Yohmei just tell her the whole deal if he was going to reveal so much? And then, she dealt with Hao's familiars SO QUICKLY that there was like. No threat to them at all. I was expecting more boom bang...

But she did use the 1080 beads! We love the 1080 beads!

Horohoro is just one of the best characters and I loved his upgrade, gosh. Again, we could have had a whole episode dedicated to his time with Apollo, rather than 10 mins. I also don't know HOW Ranger Bluebell knew bout him wanting to become the Shaman King since that wasn't discussed

For obvious reasons, Morphin is renamed Morphia in the dub, hue.

Episode 16

Not much that I can say about this episode (I was a bit sleepy when I watched it). Ryu is getting an upgrade — at lastl! And this episode had some of the humour I love from Shaman King: the whole bit with the vampiric guys was SO funny. "If there are only 5 in the group, why do two of them look the same?!" Yoh/Ren/Horohoro are such a darling trio.

Episode 17

WHICH MEANS... ERIC STUART!!!

And man I hate Marco (thought ťhe X-Laws are great villains who basically permanently impacted mine and my friends' psyches; they're a specific type of evil) but boy oh boy, it is sooo good to hear Seto Kaiba in an anime again, sobs.

Lyserg... tbh, I don't think I ever forgave his betrayal back from 2001; THERE'S STILL A PART OF ME THAT'S MAD. I wonder if I might feel differently this time around but I half-expected the little green bean to run off with the X-Laws in this very episode so I was a bit surprised when he didn't.

And then a surprise! Hao chatted to Anna and Manta and Tamao! Anna looks so cool with the sunglasses, lol. Though... I feel like Manta's being from money is largely a plot device (because how else would everyone get to the States)... but I often find this with rich/wealthy characters. sighs!

Oh, also! The Shaman King timeline is SO WHACK. Like, Ryu says to Yoh: "You forgot about me in Izumo which is when I trained to be a shaman." But here's the problem. I think Ryu only went to Izumo in the he first place to take Manta there and THEN he trained with Yohmei — but the flashback reveals that Ryu had to wait for a week to get Yohmei to train him (why is Mikihisa Like That btw) which means that. Yoh would have already been back and fighting and drawing against Ren and therefore concluding prelims in the same time that Ryu was supposedly waiting for Yohemi to train him? And yet Ryu somehow had an Oracle Bell AND qualified for the main tournament? While Ren had only completed two battles?

fudjdjd stuff like this drives me absolutely cuckoo I NEED WRITERS TO HAVE CHARTS AND TOURNAMENT TABLES AND TIMELINES AND ALL ELSE. URHFJFJD

Episode 18

Phew... to say that the X-Laws are brutal is putting it lightly... and looking at Jeanne and the way she was in this episode and knowing that she ends up with Ren is very. HUH?

I kind of can't believe just how laidback Yoh is sometimes. It kinda irritates me a tiny bit? Back in the day, I couldn't choose between Yoh, Ren and Horohoro for the Favourite Character Spot, but I'm not firmly Team Horohoro, ehe.

Poor Team Niles. Gosh.

Episode 22

Crying and sobbing... why won't Shaman King just give me. A TIMELINE? So now I discover that it's been TWO MONTHS since they were in the Patch village (???) and it's already the last battle of the first round of the tournament (???) and that Anna already taught Team Funbari Hot Springs EVERYTHING in Hao's big bad book (???) and? We didn't get to see any of that? Like I understand this decision if that's how it went down in the manga and the double OS was a major, unprecedented reveal, but if not... I LOVE A TRAINING MONTAGE. Give me these arcs...

Also, the dub's choices for which terms to leave in Japanese are messy. They use words like Onmyoji and Ultra Senji Ryakketsu, but 'Mana' replaces 'furyoku'... like I'm pretty sure the 4Kids dub used furyoku because it was a term I was v. familiar with.

Anyway, its nice to see a battle span two eps!

Episode 23

Wowee... this episode got me teary. Ryu's upgrade is NICE and Anna talking about the flexibility of Yoh's furyoku was so sweet. I also love the Icemen and their design — and it was particularly cute to see Pino and Horohoro chatting together at the end.

And then Hao's whole convo with Ren (the 4Kids dub called him Len and Yoh nicknamed him Lenny which was the cutest; gah, things I miss!) was really interesting

BUT WHY HAS YOH SOUGHT OUT LYSERG THE TRAITOR... ooft!

Episode 24

WAAAA WHAT A COOL EPISODE?

Okay, so it turns out that I was wrong about all the matches being over because this ep was HAO VS THE X-LAWS and damn, Hao using OXYGEN as his medium? That's bloody cool!!!

The OST in this ep was top tiiieeer and freaking — the X-Laws being humanised? A bit? I am SHOCKED.

Episode 25

Revelations galore... and Yohmei Tries to Commit Infanticide: Extended Edition.

Blimey. This anime is getting me so emotional.

(I love Horohoro I love what a good friend he is he is my FAVOURITE.)

Episode 26

WOW I LOVED THIS EPISODE.

The senior Asakura and Tao folks coming together to discuss Hao's bigtime book and the gang finally finding out about Yoh's origins! I got to see TAO RAN again (I love her) and freaking heck, Mikihisa is so cool? I guess jury has to be out with him a liiiittle bit because I've seen people commenting that he sucks. But. I have a major soft-spot for shounen dads (Goku, Echizen Nanjiroh, Van Hohenheim, Kurosaki Isshin...) and I reckon Mikihisa ticks cool points.

And freaking Ren! Why is everyone so cool??

Ahhh we're entering a flashback! So this is what people were talking about when they kept bringing up "Osorezan Arc", huh?? YOH AND ANNA'S FIRST MEETING!

Once again, the timeline is WHACK because there's really no way it can be the year 2000 at the time of the Shaman Fight unless I'm missing something huuuge... Yoh and Anna really should've been 8 when they met, not 10?

And I'm finally meeting Matamune!

But he was in the last Shaman Fight dhdhd i guess Hao couldn't have participated since he was a Patch that time but what happened at the fight 1000 years ago?

Episode 31

Oh man, I can see why people were so obsessed with this arc... there is just so much emotion here from all sides: Matamune (having to defeat Hao!!), Yoh and Anna, Kino — everything.

You can see why Yoh and Anna are the dream team, wow.

Also, I looked up a timeline and I think I can make my peace with it being the year 2000 in canon... but the anime did not explain it AT ALL, which is pretty poor.

STAYING THE NIGHT PROMPTS

For the last few months, Kaiba had mentioned something about a new project he was taking on and one that required a lot more of his attention than usual. Atem had chalked it up to some new dueling device although he couldn't imagine what Kaiba had that might surpass the latest technology on the market right now. The replay of his last duel with Yugi boasted some of the most advanced technology on the planet. Not that he doubted Kaiba's prowess when it came to outdoing himself, but it seemed like this current incarnation for dueling would be on the market for years to come.

And Atem hadn't been wrong --- at least about the dueling system. While Kaiba did say he was always looking to improve the game, the big project had nothing to do with dueling but everything to do with Kaibaland. It would seem he was adding a fancy hotel complete with the very thing that could satisfy both parents and children: a fancy restaurant with a massive arcade nearby. Ambitious? Well, Atem knew of restaurants with casinos inside of them, but never had he come across one boasting a decent arcade. He rather liked the idea so it was partly how he ended up aiding Kaiba in his task.

The job was simple: comb through thousands of new and old games and help figure out which ones would be best for his new projects. They were to be ranked on difficulty, enjoyability and popularity. It had led to many late evenings back at the mansion, looking over games and even trying a few Kaiba had acquired. This particular night however, Atem got lost in one of the games. It was a fun retro game and by the time he lost, it was after midnight. Realizing this, he offered Kaiba a rather sheepish smile as he removed himself from the game room. "Guess I lost track of time. Still, if it wasn't already obvious, I think that one is a keeper. It kept me busy for an hour anyway."

He slipped past Kaiba with every intention of grabbing his things and leaving until his friend spoke up from behind the computer he was typing away on.

"It's late. You might as well just stay here."

And honestly, it wasn't as if they hadn't had a sleepover before. There was one time many months ago when Kaiba stayed with Atem at the condo he had gifted him. He was fairly certain he had fallen asleep while Kaiba was doing work. He woke in the night to find that Kaiba was still there though he couldn't be certain Kaiba actually slept. Still. there was some hesitation about intruding, but hadn't he intruded already by staying over this late? It seemed silly to make such an excuse and so he finally nodded.

"Very well." But then a small smile played at his features because if he was going to stay over, he was going to at least be annoying about it for five minutes. "Can I sleep in one of your fancy shirts then?"

Dance Music: OOOH i could see how this could maybe be a Kaiba song, but I think other Sunset Tree tracks like Lion's Teeth suit him a little better.... kind of gives me a Vector vibe honestly. Themes and shithead father and the police coming for you...BIG.

Same as Cash: god I also really love this one. This is definitely in the realm of "do not listen to me I am operating on some completely separate level here" but it's one of my various goats songs firmly in the "Thinking About My College AU" category. This is THE having a silent meltdown in your car in the parking lot song ever. Bit of a My Pizza AU Primo Song Specifically.... it's the Meltdown In the Parking Lot + Buying a Motorcycle + Chronic Pain Motifs + "Everybody needs to love and be loved/That's what all the people say anyway" for ME. DWBI.

No Children: ALSO A CLASSIC this one is a bit harder for me to correlate directly to a specific character, it's a little too Mutually Hostile to click for me with Zoneporia.... I do think it has shreds of idolshipping when theyre both at their lowest though. Peak Hell Kaiser/Nightshroud Addled Atticus. GX episode 89 kind of vibe. like,

S5 E31 Part 1: It is Actually Embarrassing How Long it Took Me To Realize This is Dark Magician

I’ve been telling my bro that I know too much about Yugioh now. I was like “am I really giving the experience of a first timer when it’s taken so long to write this that I clearly know way too much?” and then this episode happens where this guy who I thought was Marik is actually Dark Magician.

Like I watch this episode, then I do caps for this episode, and it wasn’t until I did a bunch of these caps that I realized...damn it, I’ve been calling this guy Marik for the past 3 episodes and guys.

He’s very much the dark Magician.

So it’s nice to know that I’m still just blissfully unaware of most Yugioh knowledge. Like I turned on the Master Duel game last week, opened a card, it was 5 paragraphs of information, and I was like “Yes. I still have no idea if this game is a long prank.”

And Bakura also felt like he was being pranked when he realized a Blue Eyes is not actually going to beat all 3 God Cards (which he already knew, because Bakura has already died to a God Card in S2 but wtv.)

Bakura freakin loves just peacing out this season. Keeps announcing himself, throwing down some dead bodies, and then just walking away mid-duel. Like this is the third time he’s done this during this arc? But before he drops the mic he’s gonna leave some threats which like...remember that a majority of these people have never seen this asshole before.

(OMG you can even see Mahads hair from this angle and I still thought he was a Marik for so freakin long OMG)

I love how much the Yugioh team likes to torture themselves by drawing horses, especially when they have the ability, they just do not have the budget to really get into that stuff. Like this shot here:

This shot the horse stayed mostly still and just kinda grew bigger and bigger until the bottom. It was very silly. I love horses in Yugioh.

Like it’s a shame that my recording/video situation for some reason started wigging out on me because in hindsight, I should make a supercut of every shot of a horse in Yugioh. It’s like...just a little uncanny valley, I very much enjoy the disaster horses.

So ends Pharaoh’s first evening as a Pharaoh.

Which honestly, at least he’s still freakin alive. He’s doing pretty good for his track record. Eventually, Past Seto is going to stab him in the back, but let’s be honest, that’s also how Yugi will die in the future, making bets.

Anyway, remember how last episode I posited the question, how long will it take Pharaoh to notice the giant ass pyramid in the sky?

And he IMMEDIATELY has to tell everyone about it. Shimon was kinda like “you’ve had a rough day lets um...lets move you back to your bedroom and lock you inside.”

But this is normal for all Egyptian Pharaoh’s, right? Like from what I can tell from ancient history, putting the entire nation’s weight on a single human being’s shoulders makes them lose their nut. They’re probably just happy that Pharaoh isn’t burning all their houses down...instead it’s this other guy they’ve never seen before...houses get burnt down either way, but hey at least it wasn’t the Pharaoh this time who did it.

Except for Bakura’s village, that one got super burnt down by a Pharaoh.

OK maybe everyone’s houses are crispy toast no matter who’s in charge.

Pharaoh thinks longingly “man....if only Kaiba could see us working together and getting along...hmmm” like a Parent would think about their own unruly children.

But, speaking of individual’s who fold under the pressure of carrying the entire future of mankind on their shoulders, Seto has already lost his mind. Like full melt down. Usually it takes a couple more episodes than this in an arc for Seto to go spare, but the millennium eye took his already fragile composition and turned it into a fine powder (yes it is still sitting on his desk).

So he does what normal people do and starts having a conversation with it.

Normal thing to do.

And then Seto decided to do the one thing you should never, not ever do with this horrible eyeball.

...he has learned nothing from seeing Pegasus with this thing lodged into his left eye all these years. It has never occured to Seto that the eye WANTS to sit in there.

And, if you remember, the guy standing behind past Seto was Aknadin, who is in the past wearing the eye.

Yo, how gross is it to think about how this is a used false eyeball. Seto’s hands are touching something that touched the backside of a dude 5000 years ago holy crap the cooties on that thing.

Seto was likely this close to becoming the next Pegasus.

Man that would have been a hella entertaining arc if Seto got millennium item cursed. That or we would see absolutely no difference since Seto is already such a disaster. It would put Pegasus out of a job though.

...but would it? I feel like Kaiba doesn’t have the patience to oil paint.

Bye, Seto. Off to join the plot. No idea how he’s going to find the tomb, but he’s probably got a tracker embedded into the neck of every single person that’s been in his competitions.

Back in the past, we start to see how Seto might eventually want to do a tiny bit of assassination.

Talking to himself, Aknadin lets us, the audience know, that it’s finally time to make the Death Count Higher.

How many people lived in a village in the ancient past...like 1000 people? That sound right? Everything I know about small towns I learned from my roomate’s friend in college who came from a small town in Nevada, so this is what I’m basing this off of. Until I get a number, Bakura comes from Caliente, Nevada (they pronounce it “ca-lien-ee”).

Now Aknadin said this in his bean, but even if he said it outloud, Seto’s got these metallic ear covers so he probably couldn’t hear him anyway. This information lets us know that the reason why Bakura’s got such an angy ghost is because he’s the end result of a whole lot of dead people.

And so Aknadin’s like “I think Bakura is ALREADY the worst ghost you’ll meet Seto. Don’t ask me how I know that.”

But Seto isn’t listening because he just loves stuffing people’s souls into tablets. I think one of you mentioned that the dub changes the tablet magic a little bit, and that the original version of this show made it a LOT more like murder. So youknow...changes why Seto is getting so into making tablets if it’s actually him getting bloodlust.

So basically every version of Seto is secretly fueling the war machine that he insists he’s trying to end.

Not gonna lie, I kind of love this weird pink fur rug.

Like damn. Maybe it’s because I’m a millennial and we’re waaay too much into decorating our house with puce and gold but like...look at it. The color combo in this room is a joy.

Anyway, time doesn’t work anymore, which makes Isis’ job freakin suck. Pharaoh could let her know that “yeah so I was 5000 years into the future until 10 minutes ago” but he just doesn’t want to tell anyone that because they already think he’s fruit loops and his grip on the throne is a little tenuous atm.

And again, the YugixTea ship writing tender moments so much better when the characters are separated than when they actually get to be together. These writers man, it’s their favorite way to write romance, because this is also how they write every other ship we’ve seen on the show. Except for whatever the hell is going on between Rex and Weevil, who will probably be buried in the same damn coffin.

Back in Yugi’s head, they’re just kind of lost and wandering around, which is to be expected.

Yugi has sent so many people off a ledge, that he does it subconsciously.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Final Thoughts

I used to watch Yugioh when I was much younger. Honestly, it was one of my first obsessions. I watched it religiously on the WB every chance I got. It was on directly after Pokémon, which was interesting. I always felt like I was just watching Pokémon because it was on, but I was actually there just waiting for Yugioh. Why I never caught on with Pokémon, I couldn’t tell you. But there you go. It just wasn’t for me. Once Pokémon was over, I could feel the excitement. What episode of Yugioh would it be today? Duelist Kingdom? Marik being his creepy self? The Orichalcos arch? It didn’t matter. I was ready to watch it, even if I had already seen it. And if it was a new episode I hadn’t seen, even better. No one could talk to me while I was watching it. I was zeroed in. Nothing else existed.

I had Yugioh cards, and I forced my younger brother to have some too, so we could “duel” to a degree. It was really just playing random cards until one of us played a Blue Eyes, which basically meant the duel was over. Neither of us liked math, so we didn’t keep track of life points. My dad went on a business trip to Japan during this time, and he brought back Japanese Yugioh cards for both of us. They were the coolest thing I owned for a good long while, even if I had no idea how to use them.

Then I got older, and I moved on to different obsessions. My cards got buried under the detritus of a messy life, until they fell into some kind of crack in the universe, and I lost them. I’ve moved quite a few times since then, including to a different state, so I’m guessing they got left behind somewhere, perhaps in the few boxes that always seem to go missing in a move. I hope they were found by someone who knew how to use them.

Now that I’ve reached a certain point in my life, I’ve started feeling very nostalgic. So, one night, as I was surfing through Netflix, I saw the first season of Yugioh appear in my recommendations. Instantly, I was transported back to simpler times, when weekday afternoons were filled with anticipation for a few episodes of a cartoon, and having my now lost deck of cards.

Watching this silly cartoon about the threat of ancient and dark forces being resolved by a trading card game was truly a wonderful experience. I remembered why I loved this show, why I was strangely into reading about ancient Egyptian history when other kids were more interested in gossip, why I constantly rented the Yugioh movie at Hollywood Video.

One character who surprised me this time around was Seto Kaiba. In the past, I was always obsessed with Atem, and I still very much am. But I found myself getting drawn towards this snarky billionaire, where previously I barely paid him any attention at all. This is probably because, as a young and optimistic child, I couldn’t understand him. But as an embittered and negative adult, I could finally SEE him. So I started paying attention, and I was not disappointed. He’s a character that seems to have been gift wrapped for us to come back to as adults, so we can better appreciate his sense of humor and negative worldview as we grow up and understand just how right he was about a lot of things.

Another surprise for me was… Yugi. This is going to be a hot take, so apologies in advance. I didn’t like Yugi when I was younger. I was just always hoping for the pharaoh to come out, because I thought he was badass, and Yugi was just weak. Now, this very much could be the result of my consuming this show out of order when I was younger. I can now say, proudly, that I have revised this error in judgment on a rewatch as an adult. Yugi is a treasure. He’s my precious cinnamon roll. His growth throughout this series was phenomenal, and I truly felt glad to have been able to witness it. His relationship with Atem was beautiful. A bond for the ages. A reciprocal relationship which allowed BOTH OF THEM, regardless of their level of dueling expertise, to learn from one another. It was a lot of fun to watch play out.

This brings me to Atem himself. Wow. My dude is still definitely a badass, but now I can really understand why he’s a badass. This might sound weird, but bear with me. Atem is almost like John Wick. He is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer fucking will. But, while John Wick is a badass for personal reasons, and because he was a major player in a criminal underworld, Atem is a badass for the right reasons. Imagine having a John Wick fighting to save the world, rather than just for righteous vengeance. That’s Atem. He was determined to be victorious, BECAUSE he knew the fate of the world depended on him, and also because saving the world meant protecting Yugi. To have someone like that on the good side meant I could gladly watch him be the best at defeating other people just as determined as him.

Anyways, this is a very long post, but Yugioh deserves it. It was special to me back then, and it’s still precious to me now. Sure, it’s a little weird, but that was fine with me. The story underneath all that marketing was fun to watch, so it was all more than worth it.

I feel like I talk about “Kaiba just owns Domino now in DSoD” a little too much considering it’s only established by literally one throwaway line by the villain and is almost totally irrelevant to the plot, but it’s just so ridiculous and I have so many questions. you cannot just drop that on me, Takahashi.

Like, does he own Domino in the literal sense, where it’s basically a corporate city-state, or is it a soft-power thing--Duel Monsters is such an essential part of the economy and KC having so many resources that no one can say no to him? Has Kaiba bribed or paid off the local government, or are they desperate to give him what he wants anyway since he basically controls the local entertainment sector? Surely there’s people who object to this? How does the average non-duelist in Domino feel about living under the benevolent duel-disk clad fist of a power-mad, overdramatic, emotionally stunted 12th grader? 

Why force everyone to buy a duel disk? Not for the money, it’s not Kaiba’s style to mandate everyone buy his products just for the cash. Because he thinks dueling, and duel links, is the best path towards the utopian future without war he describes, and wants to make sure everyone gets in on it? That’s...sweet, honestly, but still a little scary. We know KC can track location and activity through duel disks--is Kaiba establishing a massive surveillance network of everyone in the city? What does he want that for?

Like, this is such a wild rabbit hole, and I need to know more.

Today has been perhaps one of the slowest that Seto Kaiba has experienced in a while. In addition to his general insomnia, he’d been kept up by nagging thoughts about the preparation for tonight. What should they have for dinner? Should he set anything special up? Should he confine the cat somewhere? Actually, is Yugi allergic to cats? Or anything else? He hadn’t asked. Oh, Christ.

Unconsciousness finally granted him a small amount of mercy some time around three-thirty. After getting up for work a little later than usual - some time after seven - he managed to trudge through the day without too much incident. His meetings each felt like pulling teeth in the most drawn-out way possible, but managed to resolve multiple problems. The acquisition of resources he’d been working on for months was locked down.

After leaving uncharacteristically early (at five), he’d gone to the local grocery for a couple of last-minute things, gotten held up near the checkout when he was recognized, and proceeded to spend fifteen minutes tactically avoiding answering questions. His guard detail made escape a little easier, and he’d been able to get back to the apartment just before six.

Here, he’s spent the last hour and a half getting a shower and trying to figure out what to wear. It’s not like it matters, really, because Yugi is going to be the only one to see him. But at the same time, he wants to look nice - because Yugi is going to be the one to see him.

That he is so concerned is… irksome.

He settles on a fitted black button-up and matching black jeans - the only denim he owns, actually. He is thankfully spared from having to decide on footwear outside of his usual dress socks, since they’re not going out.

It’s as he’s entering the kitchen to start laying things out on the counter that he gets a message from a member of his security detail. Mutou has arrived. Precisely on time.

Quickly, he scoops some food into the cat’s bowl. As he straightens up and Aoyuki starts eating, the knock finally comes.

Seto pushes his trepidation down and makes his way to the front door. He exhales, and opens it.

Yugi looks… good. Great, even. He’s ditched the glasses again, instead sporting dark eyeliner in his usual style. He’s not dressed to the nines, but he’s not overly casual, either. A delicate balance that he probably spent a good amount of time thinking about, but looks relatively effortless. And of course, he hasn’t forgotten Kuriboh.

An amused smile tugs at the edges of the CEO’s lips as he steps aside to let his guest in.

“Hey.”

"Hey," Yugi replied with a swooning, nearly sheepish smile as the door was answered. Seto looked gorgeous, as always. Even in something so much more casual than the typical suits or his dueling gear, he was effortlessly stunning.

The shorter man slipped inside and removed his boots (which unfortunately took another inch off of his height, but he didn't want to track any dirt into the CEO's beautiful apartment. He undid the buckles and zipper to set them to the side before straightening up to look at the other man to say, "You look really nice."

He wasn't totally sure if Kaiba kept his apartment sweltering hot or if it was just his own nerves making him feel much too warm. But certainly one of those things was happening.

He brought his hand up to rub the back of his neck as he added, "Of course, you always look really nice. I ah— I thought about bringing some flowers or something. But I honestly don't know what kind you like. Or if you would even like flowers. Some guys don't like that kind of stuff."

With a little chuckle he reached into his pocket and withdrew a little plastic Blue Eyes keychain and offered it out as he said, "It's stupid. You can honestly just toss it in a drawer or something. But ah, I didn't want to show up entirely empty handed for our date."

I think I've mentioned before but I really don't remember how I discovered Yugioh

Only watching it Saturdays on KidsWB if I gad to guess I just happened to start watching it along with pokemon, Jackie Chan and all thd other stuff we enjoyed watching there and pretty sure we managed the majority of the series (maybe missing a few spotty episodes )

- remember the Duel disk ads and wanting one did I know how to play the game not really but they looked cool anyway.

Never once saw them for sale but maybe that was my canadian luck

Gx I kept up with till about s3 then I wanna say it might gave started shuffling time slots/ watching other stuff and eventually was just hard to find.

Like I know for a fact I watched at least the start cause before I went back and rewatched I always rembered Jim, Axel and Adrien (Jesse less so)

The trip would've been over a lot quicker for himself. After all, he knows where the waypoints are. But after a good look at the stranger, he didn't seem to carry a Vision. And Kaiba seemed to be a foreigner too. So even if he did hold one, the chances of him knowing how to use Sumeru's waypoints was slim. 

"I simply lost track of time that's all. And I'm a scholar of sorts. We're meant to be at historical places unlike a certain blue tourist." The blue tourist of course being Kaiba. "Any bluer and I'd mistake you for Mirror Maiden." He laughs but then stops immediately.

Track was was a gruling thing, but you enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment it gave you. You also weren't alont in this endeavor.

Every morning and evening you go running Tristan was right by your side. He had water bottles and words of encouragement.

When you started training for a marathon he was there to cheer you on and go as far as his legs could carry him.

Through a lot of training and Perseverance you made it first in the marathon. Tristan was soll proud of you that as soon as he saw you he picked you up and spun you around, and unlike you he was ready for the next marathon.

Duke Devlin:

Being a beautician wasnt as easy as it looked, but you trudged on. Lucky for you however Duke was there for you every step of the way.

He even allowed you to practice on him. He especially loved it when you played with his hair. It was so relaxing.

Without you knowing after every look you practiced Duke took pictures of it so when you finally became a full time beautician he could show you your progress.

He always wondered where you ran off to when he was at work, but was too busy to look in to it.

Mokuba however, wasnt and found out quickly what you were doing. He never told Seto, but he did try to coach you the best he could.

Seto never found out till your name was all over the news. An up and coming duelist quickly making their through the ranks. He never said it to you, but he was extremely proud of you.

Yami Bakura:

Sining covers was one of your favorite things, and how you met Bakura. Something about your voice had him enchanted sonhe called you his siren.

Your covers weren't really big, but that didnt bother you because you just enjoyed doing it anyway. (Though most time you would hear bakura mumble that no one has tastes)

You started off with a few loyal followers, but eventaully your channel grew bigger and bigger every month.

Until finally you were in of the top cover artists. Bakura was hella proud of you for clawing your way to the top. He would never say it, but actions speak louder then words.

Yami Marik:

Yami Marik was someone who wasnt easily impressed. It took a lot.to get him to sing your praise.

Like maybe defeating the pharaoh on your own?? Yeah that would about do it. So when he heard that you challenged the pharaoh he was intrested.

He watched the fight a grin plastered on his face the whole time. Watching the two of struggle was exciting.

When you won he couldnt help at laugh in both victory and mockingly at the pharaoh. Finally he could send him to the shadow realm and reclaim the throne for himself all because of you.

Bakura Ryou:

Pottery making was a favorite hobby of yours. Just being able to sit there and relax was amazing to you.

And bakura loved watching your process. Every piece always amazes him when he see it.

He helped you post every piece for everyone to see, and first it up to 10 views at most, but neither of you minded.

But once you started getting views in 100s both you were so happy. Bakura help you and said how proud he was of you, and how he cant wait to see you grow.

Marik Ishtar:

Archeology was gruling work, but you didnt mind it. Digging up history was always fun especially with Marik by your side.

Because your constantly had in the move it was a perfect fit for Marik's adventurous ways.

I lost count of how many parties I went to this week. There was one at Shina, another at... Sasha's. Wait, was it? Or Ymir's? Honestly, both their houses look fairly similar and we always see the same faces over and over again, regardless of where we are getting wasted. Definitely two at my house. The timeline is blurry at this point. If my liver could talk, it would spit out "Screw you, Eren." and I wouldn't be able to disagree.

Classes will start next week so everyone is acting like we're going to stop doing all this for the rest of the semester. That never happens.

I barely enter Reiner's house and the music is already piercing my head. My ears will soon tell me to go screw myself too. The bass was loud. But it was good.

— Hey, finally — Reiner says, giving a hard slap in my back. I can't even get mad at him because he probably didn't mean for it to hurt. Fucking strong bastard.

— Sorry. Lost track of time.

— You know where the things are — he leaves me behind and disappears through the noisy music.

It's hot inside. August has been particularly cruel this year. I'm using a black t-shirt, which is luckily pretty thin, and my black Adidas pants that are somewhat breathable. My hair is in a bun. I will probably be sweating soon, though. Reiner's AC won't do miracles with this amount of people since it is specially packed today. I guess I might see some new faces tonight, huh.

I walk through the room and then arrive in the kitchen. Connie and Sasha are there.

— Eren!! — I barely open my mouth to talk and Sasha is already giving me whatever weird drink they made. Their drinks sometimes are... unusual, for the lack of a better word. — It's our personal mission, so enjoy the fuel — Connie says laughing, raising his plastic cup. I love this duo – who doesn't? – and I can't help but laugh with them, even though it tastes so bad — Everyone is already here, come on — I follow them and find all the familiar faces I've seen all week: Bertholdt, Historia, Ymir, Mikasa, Annie, Armin, Jean, everyone.

The girls look hot, even though I'm used to them. Either way, I avoid hooking up with my friends since the last time didn't work so well. It's better to avoid Mikasa today.

We all sit together while drinking. I light a joint I had already prepared at home and say — Am I crazy or is Reiner's party bigger than usual? —, releasing the smoke a few seconds after. This one is the best grass we could get around our area, I've saved it primarily for today and now I see that might have been a great decision on my part. I'm glancing through the room and looking for some girls, might share this shit with one - or a few - of them later.

— Thank god, I was tired of seeing your ugly faces every fucking time — Jean says. The girls look at him and he rushes to add — I mean, the boys, of course. It's always nice looking at all of you, ladies.

It's not enough to avoid Annie's kick anyway — We can say the same of you, horse face.

Reiner arrives at the perfect time and explains — Since the new semester starts Monday, news about today traveled fast and we got a lot more company than usual.

— Do you know all of them, Reiner? — Historia asks — I've talked to a bunch of them tonight and there are people from all over the campus and from all years as well — Historia always looks pretty, her blonde hair shining even in the low light of the party. Guys make a line to talk to her at all parties so there's no surprise that she's already familiarized with the whole scenario. I wonder what Ymir thinks of it. Probably followed her during this little field trip.

— Hell, no — he grabs the joint of my hand and sucks deeply — I know some of them and some are Bertholdt's friends but there are some random people.

— I bet Reiner knows a lot of the girls — I take my joint back from his fingers — I assume they aren't Bertholdt's friends, though — and grin.

— Hey, I don't see you with any new company either, dude — Bertholdt tries to grab my weed as well, but I avoid his advances. He instead grabs my cup and drinks all of it, leaving me empty. He makes a funny face at the taste. Suit yourself, man, I think to myself, laughing on the inside.

— Yeah, but I'll work on it in a sec — I tease him knowing that he can't handle much of Sasha and Connie's fuel. He always knocks out before everyone. I hope he realizes he needs to stay awake to try anything with Annie. Someday. He simply never gets there.

Hange arrives almost falling over Ymir and spilling her drink on the floor in the process — I think we should all make a toast and make this last party a wild ride!!! — her yelling stabbing us louder than the music.

— Bitch, you are this fucking drunk already? — Ymir says to her, holding Hange's weight on her back — What the hell did the gasoline duo do to you?

— Okay okay, enough with the questions, let me fill your cups because this is the night! — Sasha says, just pouring all that mystery liquid that soon will go straight to our heads — Also, Reiner, where's the food?

We raise our plastic cups and Connie yells — To the new semester! — and we drink, feeling the immediate burn on our throats. It's hard being a scout.

— I need to get laid today — Jean says as he lays his back on the couch — Gonna arrive for the classes pretty motivated next week — he then rests his left arm at the back pillow, behind Mikasa's head.

— You should start roaming, then — her cold delivery puts Jean's subtle attempt at flirting six feet under the ground, as usual. It was pretty damn quick, but I could notice Mikasa glancing at me and then looking the other way. Yeah, I think I need to start roaming soon, too.

— That sounds great, then let's do that!!! — Hange grabs Jean by the arm and they disappear amongst the crowd.

— When all this fun ends, I'll be the one who will probably have to take him home after he gets slapped by some girls — Armin and Jean live with me so we normally go back together. Armin is the responsible one between us, which is not exactly hard considering how Jean and I are — Gonna at least drink some beer before that happens.

— I'll go with you, this drink sucks — Annie says, finishing the drink anyway and following him. We always drink the last drop of it, we never learn.

The girls went dancing, the music was exceptionally good today. A lot of bands I already liked plus some I have never heard before. I need to remember to ask Reiner for this playlist later. Connie was already surrounded by a different group, everyone likes to talk to him. He is popular. The rest dispersed as well and I could hear Hange's screams far away. This is going to be a night for her, indeed.

I start walking around, meeting a lot of people from my classes and others from the campus in general. I talk to all of them and drink a lot in the process, which feeds my need for nicotine every time. I grab my pack of cigarettes and while smoking, I see Levi.

— I must be dreaming — I say, letting the smoke leave my lips with a smile. It reaches him and looks at me with a deadly expression. He is smoking as well, but he only admits one specific brand of cigarettes and hates all the others. Levi usually doesn't show up at these "brat" parties, as he likes to say, since he's a few years older than us. I normally see him at Shina's, which is a popular club slash bar near our university. He's the owner so we all met him there, after going so many times. Shina has the best parties and the best drinks of all the clubs near us. And it couldn't be any other way, since Levi is a perfectionist. There's also a small stage there, where indie bands perform from time to time. My band does some gigs there sometimes.

— Hey — he replies, as cold as ever. He's Mikasa's cousin, so they have the same expressions and hard-to-approach vibe — Already high, I see.

— Always. In fact, today I hope to be higher than usual. What miracle brings you here?

— Some people from the staff decided to come here today so there are fewer brats to piss me off — he drinks what's probably a high priced whiskey and continues — and there's a new girl at the club so we have been showing her the area for a few weeks now.

— There's a lot of new girls here today — although I know Levi doesn't give a crap.

— So? — yeah, he doesn't.

Levi is a pretty successful business owner and even I have to admit that he's hot – is not only common knowledge but a mutual agreement between everyone –, so girls are always trying to get him, but he doesn't screw most of them. He doesn't fuck brats, period. He says he doesn't have the patience. That makes the girls even more desperate. He has the highest standards of every guy I know. When he was still in university – the same we all go –, he screwed not only the hottest girls but also the professors - which went after him and not the other way around. At least that's what I've heard. I think Levi never had to actively look for any girl, to be honest.

I can only laugh at his reply. That's just so him.

— If you want more stuff than what's already in your system, Floch is over there.

— I want, actually. I was going to look for him — I see Floch's red hair among some folks. Floch is usually as busy as Connie but with less than half of the charisma.

He finishes his cigarette, blowing its last white smoke into the air, and we both hear a loud HELL YEAH!! coming from all the other way across the room — Tsk, is that Hange?

— Pfft, it was before, I think it's Sasha now — he doesn't laugh at my reply. He never does. I think hell would freeze while heaven catches on fire.

I think about the music again. It's so good today, what the hell — Hey Levi, don't you think this playlist is too high quality for a Reiner party? I don't get it, his music taste is always pure trash.

— That's from our new girl — he drinks the last drops of his whiskey and starts to leave — You might find her around here — he then suddenly stops and looks at me — Don't get your hopes up, though.

I am not able to ask what he meant by that because he leaves too quickly. Time to look for Floch.

— Hey, Flo-

— Here.

— You didn't even let me finish.

— I know what you want. You are not in the mood for cocaine so you want MD instead, blah-blah-blah-blah. Is that kind of night — he pauses for mere seconds — Am I wrong, Eren?

— Nope, right as usual — Floch is the main person you go to when you need drugs. I mean, good drugs. He looks like your standard rich boy – which he is, by the way – that can do no wrong, but you can get the best stuff from him. I've always found this funny. The weed I have today was his work. He knows my taste well.

Reiner's frat house is huge, so there's plenty of room to walk. I'm approached by a bunch of girls on the way but for some reason, none of them piques my interest. I am pretty set on going after something new today and I have no problem getting laid. It happened every single day this week and it truly happens anytime I want. Which, okay, boosts my ego a little bit. Maybe a lot. I might even have hurt some girls in the process. I was never slapped though, unlike Jean. So that's a win in my book.

I see a few of my friends again, mainly Historia and Reiner, and they are talking to a girl I've never seen before.

She has long black hair and short messy bangs, the kind that goes a little above the eyebrows. I didn't know black hair was my thing until now. Her face has the perfect features, at least for me. She's wearing a sleeveless white top that is so tight that hugs her figure perfectly and makes her breasts look amazing. That type of top that shows the girl's side boob, and I'm a total sucker for those. It is also short so you can see a bit of her waist. And I don't even have to see her ass because I already know it is probably too damn good. Her light blue ripped jeans are cool as well and she has black sneakers. I like her style. She has a bunch of tattoos - a lot on her right arm, one on her left hand, and probably some that I couldn't see because they were behind her clothes. I intended to, though.

Fuck, she's hot.

Historia looks mesmerized talking to her, which is a very privileged view from where I stand because, as I've already said before, she is also beautiful. But she isn't exactly hot. This girl is. Way too much. Oh, and Reiner is there too. Whatever.

I can see a lot of guys want to approach her but none of them do. I went for it. Wasn't this night supposed to be wild?

— Hey, Eren! Guess what, Y/N is the new DJ at Shina! I was telling her how we go there all the time.

— Hi, Eren, nice to meet you — she says, with that kind of smile that people who know they are hot make. I do that too.

— Hey, Y/N — I say. And as I told you seconds before, I'm good with that type of smile as well so that's what she gets — Levi told me he came with the staff and a new girl, so I suppose that's you.

— Yeah, I'll start there next week.

— I talked to him about the party's playlist because I knew it couldn't be Reiner's.

— Yeah, it's Y/N's. She prepared it for the party when I invited the guys from Shina yesterday. We were in the same high school. — Reiner says that looking at me with a face that shows "See that, dickhead? I've known her for some years now".

— It's pretty good! I can't wait for the next party at Shina's to see your set! — Historia was always an angel.

REINER, WHERE'S THE REST OF THE ICE, MAN??, someone screamed far away.

— Shit. Catch up with you later, Y/N.

Too bad, huh, Reiner? He gives me a look that I can't quite figure out what it is, but I know for sure it wasn't a look of support. In the fucking slightest.

— I think Ymir is calling me as well, sorry!! — It was painfully obvious that Ymir wanted to make out with Historia for some time now. They never did. I think only Historia hasn't realized yet that Ymir is thirsty for her for god knows how long.

After Historia left, there was only me and her — So, by any chance, do you go to the same university as us? You look our age but Levi said you are new here — I tried asking this without looking at her body, but looking at her face was even worse. Her eyes were piercing me in the best way possible.

— I'm not exactly new, I'm from the same uni as you guys, but I took a gap year — she takes a sip of her drink — You probably never met me but I'm in the same year as you all are now.

Since Reiner knew her from high school, he also knew she was at the same university all along and never told any of the guys. Smart fucker.

— So that makes you a year older than me — I smirk at her.

— I guess it does — she smirks back as she lights up a cigarette and blows the smoke at me.

Ok, looking good so far.

I'm pretty high at this point, the MD and the music are making me horny, so I don't even bother to pretend that I'm not looking at her body. I'm looking at everything.

— You took something, didn't you?

— Do you want some? I can show you later where to get the best stuff. Anything you are in the mood for.

— I'm all set — she shows me her tongue and I see the acid. The view makes my own tongue feel lonely, maybe I should use it to steal that from her mouth. I hope she's horny as well.

We talk a lot about music since it's something that we both enjoy. She's passionate about it, I can tell. She asks about my band with true interest. Doesn't sound like small talk. She touches her hair and it makes me want to stuff my face in it. She has the smile that makes you want more. Her voice has the same effect.

The loud music allows us to talk near each other's ears. I hope she moans as loud as her playlist. The girls usually love my hair for some reason, either if it's in a messy bun as it is right now or if it's loose. They all love my green eyes too. She can see all that with somewhat detail since we are so close, even though it is a little dark here. If I take you to a room you can see me better, I almost blurb it out. I can see her too and that kills me.

She looks receptive to me but normally at this point I would be already hooking up with the girl. This time it isn't happening. I never have to work so much. I think I understand why the other guys didn't approach her before. She's a little intimidating to talk to, and that comes naturally to her – it doesn't seem to be on purpose. I flirt with her the way I normally do but she is hard to get, she hits every ball I throw. I remember what Levi said before. Oh, right.

But I'm vibing way too much at this point, I think if I touch any part of her I'll get hard immediately.

— This gap year you've mentioned... Did you go anywhere specific?

— I know it will sound cliché, but I went to Europe.

— Where in Europe?

— Everywhere — she says — I went down — the corner of her lips forming a smile  — And up. Everywhere. — and I can swear she sounds flirtatious as hell. I want to bite her lip.

— That sounds... Awesome. — I think she wants to bite me too, or at least I hope she does — Was there any particular reason to leave? If that's not too much to ask.

— Hm, I was kinda... — she stops to think for a few seconds as she holds her hair up and makes a ponytail, looking at the ground, the cigarette glued to her now closed lips. Her neck became exposed, it looks soft as hell and I can't wait to bruise it. She releases the smoke, that flows into the room, and looks deep into my eyes, as deep as I want to be inside her right now — ...stressed.

I reach my limit at this point.

— I can help you with the stress if you want.

— Really? — she's looking at me with the same teasing look and I'm doing the same, so we both know that's not a question I have to answer. Her tongue quickly passes through her top lip, her mouth forming a little wet smile — I don't think I need any help though.

I threw the ball and she hit a home run. My team was out.

I was not expecting that.

We hear some of the guys from Shina calling for her — Oh, they are calling me — Y/N looks at me again and says — See you around, Eren — giving me the same fucking grin I wanted to bite before.

She walks away and I see that her ass is, as I suspected from the very beginning, too damn good.

Shit. Shit, shit, shit.

After this, some time has passed. I look at the clock. Yeah, maybe a lot. I couldn't tell before because I'm drunk and drugged. I see most of my friends, all fucking wasted. Armin is holding up pretty well, Bertholdt's is knocked down for God knows how long, Mikasa probably smoked way too much weed (who am I to judge?) and looks dead on the couch. I don't see Ymir, Historia nor Reiner - there are too many people in this house to keep count. Sasha's eating something in the kitchen, I can't see what it is, but certainly, she got hungrier than normal after smoking some pot Connie gave her. Connie always holds his drinks well, he's still talking to a lot of people. I pass in front of one of the bathrooms and Hange is there, getting everything out of her system. Oh, and Ymir. There she is, holding Hange's hair, looking as pissed as ever. Levi probably went home hours ago. Jean is making out with some chick, he's going to score tonight. To be fair, he always does, but never with Mikasa.

I saw a lot of pretty girls today and I went for none of them. They tried and I shut them down, even the ones I normally fuck. There's someone I want to taste tonight and she's nowhere to be found. The guys from Shina are missing too, so I know I won't see her today anymore. Damn.

I'm not pissed at her but I'm pissed at the situation.

— Armin, I think I'm going to take off, are you coming?

— Yeah, I'm already pretty tired — he gets up — Jean's probably going to stay here.

— Yep. Probably. — Am I pissed that Jean's getting laid? Even though I could have as well? With someone else, at least? My mood feels off.

— I'm going with you too, I've lost count of how many assholes I had to shut down today. I think I even punched a few — I don't have to look to know that's Annie speaking — You were right, Eren, is it especially crowded today. In the shittiest way possible.

— Then let's go.

— Wait, I need to get my bag first, I left it in Reiner's room.

— I can get that for you, wait up.

— It's a black one. Small.

I sign a thumbs up for her and climb the stairs. I am hundred percent sure I'm going to see someone fucking there but that's the usual. I'm pretty sure I've already seen some people screwing in the corner of the living room minutes before. No one cares.

I open the door and see Y/N in her underwear, putting her white top back on. She does indeed have other tattoos.

— Hey there! — she says smiling, as she also puts her jeans back up, making little jumps so they pass through her ass. Her hair is not in a ponytail anymore.

I say hi in a confusing way.

— I came here to get my friend's bag — I look around for milliseconds like I don't know where the hell I am until I see Reiner lying - clearly naked - under his sheets. Can't be anyone else, with that bleached hair and huge biceps.

What? Ahn?

Hey... Wait a second.

Historia? Clearly naked as well? What. The. Hell. I guess she's not exactly the angel I thought she was?

They are sort of awake, sort of sleeping, kinda like on a different planet. You know, the type of thing that happens after a really strong fuck? That sort. They look exhausted. They look destroyed. And not in a bad way. AT ALL.

— Oh, I saw a bag before. Here you go — she gives me Annie's bag. She's all dressed now. She notices my confusion, I'm too high to act any other way — I've told you I don't need any help — her eyes piercing mine for the hundredth time tonight. Her smile hurts now. Ouch.

She grabs her sneakers and walks towards me and the door:

— I'm all set.

She leaves the room as I hold Annie's bag.

Yeah. I was not expecting that.
