Every end of the year there’s a Top 2000 arranged by listener’s votes in these parts of the world. It starts right after Christmas and lasts until New Year’s. It’s one of my favourite traditions.
You get to pick 35 songs. Which sounds like a lot, but every year everyone I know comes up short. This year, I wanted to share my 35 picks. After Pearl Jam’s Black, which I do think is the best song ever, it’s all in random order; and also with the rule ‘no same artist twice’; and a couple of tactical votes... So it’s far from my Top 35, but you’ll get my vibe:
Pearl Jam - Black Elton John - Circle Of Life Queen - I Want To Break Free Al Stewart - Year Of The Cat Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus Air - Sexy Boy Neil Young - Harvest Bob Dylan - I Want You Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit Radiohead - Paranoid Android Metallica - One Tubeway Army - Are Friends Electric? R.E.M. - What's The Frequency, Kenneth? Daft Punk - One More Time Eurythmics - Love Is A Stranger De Dijk - Niemand In De Stad War On Drugs - Red Eyes Elvis Presley - In The Ghetto Julian Lennon - Too Late For Goodbyes Johnny Cash - I Walk The Line Kenny Rogers & First Edition - Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime Herman van Veen - Hilversum 3 Spinvis - Kom Terug Doobie Brothers - What A Fool Believes Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Enola Gay Fatboy Slim - Praise You Michael Jackson - Heal The World George Harrison - My Sweet Lord Ennio Morricone - Once Upon A Time In The West Boudewijn de Groot - Verdronken Vlinder Diana Ross - Theme From 'Mahogany' Falco - Jeanny Andrea Bocelli - Con Te Partiro Little Steven - Forever
