I'm actually fucking dying, my best friend just finished a research report on  Diane Arbus and her photography. And she actually ended it with “She made history.” Because my BFF is even more of a YOI nerd than I am.

Self-Promo Sunday
Tumblr media
Last Sunday, I posted an old fic of mine called This Thing We Started which you can read here. People asked for a sequel to it, and I wrote this. I’m not sure it’s what people were wanting, but let’s just say I have tons of experience being *ahem* interrupted by my kids, if you know what I mean. Of course it had to end up in a fic eventually. So here’s 1800 words of hilarious coitus interruptus with a dose of family fluff.
Ao3 says this fic and its prequel were published in 2014. How is that possible? Have I really been writing for this fandom THAT long? Crazy!
Summary: One year after their thwarted one-night stand, Emma and Killian (now married) are ready to celebrate Emma's birthday with "more enjoyable activities." If their children will let them, that is.
Rating: M (originally it was rated T, but on second reading, I think it warrants an M)

A giggle bubbled up out of Emma’s throat as she and Killian stumbled into their bedroom, and she couldn’t help thinking back to her birthday last year. They had stumbled into her hotel room in New York City much the same way. But this year, in their home in Storybrooke, there would be sex. And lots of it, if Emma got her birthday wish.
Killian giggled too as he reached awkwardly behind him to turn the lock. Emma dug her fingers into his hair as he nibbled on her ear.
“Wait,” she panted.
“For what?” Killian chuckled as he worked the buttons on her blouse. “This year I’m your husband. No reason to turn me down.”
Emma’s smile was so big as she took in his tender smile and heated gaze that it literally hurt her cheeks. “I know, I’m not, you idiot. I just . . . I had an outfit.”
“An outfit?” Killian asked, wiggling his eyebrows, and Emma laughed. But then he surprised her by reaching around, grabbing her by the backside, and hoisting her up in his arms. Emma wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck. “You can use the outfit for the second go-around.”
“Second?” Emma’s voice was muffled as his lips closed over hers. “Someone’s optimistic.”
“Just trying to give you a happy birthday, Swan.” He still called her Swan even though they had been married for four months now. He said it suited her, and she loved the pet name.
Killian pinned her between his body and the wall. “Killian,” she started to pant, and then –
Small knocks sounded on the other side of the door. “Daddy! Henry’s bothering me!”
They both groaned as Killian set Emma’s feet back on the ground.
“Go to bed!” They both shouted at the closed door.
“I tried, but Henry’s playing with his Star Wars gun. It’s too loud!”
Killian grasped fistfuls of his hair in frustration, and Emma laughed. “Just go take care of them. I’ll go change.” She arched an eyebrow at him as she turned to the bathroom with a swing to her hips. Before she closed the door she was treated to the look in his lust-filled eyes.
Emma was already dressed in a red negligée and attempting to drape herself seductively across the bed when Killian returned. But before he could even get the door closed, six year old Haley’s voice came floating down the hall.
“Dad-dy, I’m thirsty!”
Killian raised both eyebrows at Emma, who laughed softly behind her hand. “Go get your cup from dinner,” he yelled back.
“It’s empty and I can’t reach the sink.”
Killian let out a dramatic sigh. “Hold that thought!” he told Emma before shutting the bedroom door behind him. Emma could hear him rushing Haley back to bed, including the fastest version of “Bye Bye Blackbird” ever sung. When he returned, he practically raced across the room.
Though Killian had literally jumped on top of her at first, he took his time with foreplay. He had just removed the negligee and tossed it to the floor when another knock sounded at the door.
“Mummy!”
Emma cleared her throat, hoping she didn’t sound too breathless, “Yes, sweetie?”
“I didn’t make it to the bathroom. I peed a little bit in my panties.”
“Just get another pair out of your drawer.”
“There aren’t any.”
Emma groaned. “They’re in the laundry room,” she whispered to Killian. “Can you take her? I’m in nothing but a thong!”
“Um, I don’t think that’s gonna work.”
“Why the hell not?”
“I’m kind of, um . . . excited, if you know what I mean.”
Emma huffed in frustration as she rose from the bed and grabbed her bathrobe. Killian’s ears were pink, which would have been funny, if she wasn’t so sexually frustrated right now. Emma opened the door to where Haley stood, holding a pair of Disney princess panties out in front of her with her fingertips.
“Come on, sweetie,” Emma said with forced patience. Before shutting the door, she turned to Killian and winked, “Hold that thought.”
Fortunately, Haley was cooperative, and Emma was back in just a few brief moments. It wasn’t long until they’d worked themselves back up, and Emma’s thong joined her negligée on the bedroom floor. Things were really heating up when –
“Mommy?”
Emma yelped, shoving Killian off her as she simultaneously grabbed the covers and pulled them up to her chin. “Y-yes, Henry?” Emma inwardly cursed herself; she had forgotten to lock the door after helping Haley.
Henry looked curiously at Killian, “Whatcha doin’ Daddy?”
Emma’s eyes met Killian’s frantically. He had popped back up from the floor but was kneeling by the side of the bed to cover the fact that he was naked. “I’m . . . um. . . I’m,” Killian faltered. Then he folded his hands on the top of the covers and lowered his head to meet them. “I’m praying. Daddy’s praying.”
Emma had to bite her lip to keep herself from laughing out loud. She turned back to the four year old standing in the doorway. “What do you need, sweetie?”
His little lip trembled. “I heard a scary noise. Daddy forgot to check the closet for monsters.”
Killian’s eyes had a look of panic until Emma edged his boxers out from under the covers with her toe. He grabbed them and slipped them on surreptitiously. “Coming, little lad.”
Once Killian had taken Henry’s hand and led him down the hall, Emma covered her face with the blankets and laughed until tears pooled in her eyes. Daddy is praying. She would never forget that one for as long as she lived.
When Killian returned, he made a big show of locking the door. When he got to the bed, he dove under the covers with a smirk on his face. Emma giggled and squirmed as his hands found her beneath the covers. They never had sex under the covers, but Emma was currently thinking that it might be a nice change because the things Killian was doing under the covers at this moment were bringing moans and panted exclamations from her lips.
“Shh,” Killian admonished as he surfaced from the covers at Emma’s chest. His tousled hair and flushed face made him look all the more appealing, “you’re being a little loud.”
Emma bit her lip, “Sorry.”
“Oh, don’t apologize,” Killian said with a grin, sliding forward until his lips hovered over hers, “it’s incredibly sexy. I just don’t want the kids to –“
“Daddy?”
Emma gasped as she looked over Killian’s shoulder and saw Haley standing in the open doorway. Thank God they were under the covers!
“Bloody hell, Haley!” Killian yelped, “How’d you get in here? The door was locked!”
“I used my keys,” Haley explained, waving her pink plastic Barbie keys in her right hand.
“Seriously?” Emma groaned as she buried her flaming face in Killian’s shoulder.
“I just wanted to be sure you were okay. Mummy was making funny noises.” Haley narrowed her eyes at her father, “What are you doing to her, Daddy?”
“I’m . . . hugging her,” Killian bit out, barely restraining himself from snapping at his daughter, “Go. To. Bed. NOW!”
“Okay, okay,” Haley rolled her eyes as she pulled the door shut, “You guys are so weird.”
As soon as the door clicked shut, Emma couldn’t hold it in any longer; she burst out laughing. Killian groaned as he rolled off Emma. He exhaled a frustrated breath as he flung his arm across his forehead, “Mood officially killed.”
Killian’s pouty face only made Emma laugh harder, but luckily it was infectious and he started laughing too. Soon, they were laughing so hard they were gasping for breath. Just when they thought their laughter was spent, they would glance at one another and lose it again. When their laughter finally petered out, they were lying on their sides facing each other.
“You know what makes this even funnier?” Killian asked as he reached out to push a strand of hair off Emma’s forehead, “Exactly one year ago, we were in this exact same position. Not having sex. Because of our kids.”
That set them off again, laughing hysterically as they snuggled into each other’s arms. Emma pushed Killian onto his back and straddled him, holding his arms down over his head. He looked incredibly attractive at this angle.
“After the night we’ve had, I’m second guessing giving you your gift.”
Killian arched an eyebrow, “My gift? It’s your birthday, Swan.”
“I know,” Emma replied, running her fingers through his chest hair, “and the necklace you got me is gorgeous. And the spa day from the kids was an awesome idea. The girls will be so psyched.”
“Well, I do owe your friends a huge thank you. If not for them, I wouldn’t have all of this.”
“Technically, you should thank Ruby, then. Although if I had taken her advice, we wouldn’t have this thing we’ve got. Just a meaningless one night stand.”
“And you like this thing we’ve got?” Killian’s voice rose a pitch at the end, as if he really wasn’t sure. How could he not know?
Emma smiled tenderly at him, “It’s pretty good.” She leaned over and pulled open the top drawer of the nightstand, withdrawing a sparkling silver box. It was long and thin, similar to the box that had held her necklace earlier. She handed it to Killian, “And hopefully getting better.”
Killian shifted so he was sitting up fully against the headboard and lifted the lid. When he saw the contents, he tilted his head back until it tapped the headboard. He let out a sound that was half chuckle-half groan. “Are you kidding me?”
Emma bit her lip, suddenly nervous. Maybe she should have waited for a more relaxing night to spring the news on him. But then Killian looked at her, his face crinkled with a huge smile and his eyes sparkling with joy. Emma smiled back tentatively and ran her fingers down his biceps.
“So, are you ready for 2 am feedings in addition to the antics of the other two?” she asked, gesturing towards the door when she mentioned Haley and Henry.
Killian leaned closer to her, setting aside the box that held the little white stick with the word "pregnant" across its tiny screen. He took Emma’s face in both hands, rubbing his thumbs gently across her cheeks, “Emma, love, I couldn’t be happier.”
Then he kissed her, holding back none of the passion he felt. Emma kissed him back with equal fervor, running her hands down his back. She tilted her head back as he kissed a path along her jaw and down her neck.
“Do you know what’s different from last year?” he mumbled against her skin as his tongue swiped across the pulse point behind her ear.
“Mmmm . . .” Emma muttered in response, the heat he was igniting inside her making all coherent thought flee.
“Last year,” Killian said as his hand slid down to cup her breast, “last year, I didn’t know what I was missing.”
Emma couldn’t agree more.

Little hairs were sticking out of her hair, indicating the hard work that she had just gone through. As she released an exhausted breath of air, she noticed her older brother, Jason, struggle with the enormous, hefty box as he came tottering through the door. Avery blew a strand of her blonde hair out of her eyes and sprinted up to Jason.
‘’No..Sis…I got this…’’ jason breathed shakily. Avery scoffed in disbelief as her ocean blue eyes observed the unsteadiness her brother was currently going through. Avery walked over to the open door and closed it shut. She turned to see how Jason was doing. Jason was still striving to get the gigantic box to the living room. ‘’I just need…to get this ov…’’
Jason couldn’t finish his sentence and he had given up. He released all of his stress and plopped the box straight onto the ground. Avery winced in result of the sound of glass shattering inside of the box. It was the box of glass bowls and plates.
‘’Shoot.’’ jason huffed, placing his hands on his hips. “I guess that means we’re going to need to use our paper plates instead.’’
‘’Yay...’’ avery cheered non-enthusiastically. ‘’I’m dying of hunger, where’s the box with the candy.’’
Jason pointed in response while walking over to the couch where he was planning to catch a few Z’s. The elevator had broken which meant that the two siblings had to carry all of their stuff upstairs, using the actual…stairs. It wasn’t pleasant, nor was it easy, but now that they were finally in their apartment room, all they could think of was sleep.
Avery shoved her hand into the box of candy and grabbed whatever she could get her hands on. She gripped onto the random bag of candy and pulled it out. It was M&M’s. A grin appeared on her lips, M&M’s was her favorite candy. She closed the box back up and walked into the kitchen. She lifted herself on top of the counter.
She carefully opened the bag, trying not to make the bag explode open. She poured a handful of M&M’s into the palm of her hand and tossed them into her mouth. She moaned in satisfaction when the sweet taste of the chocolate melted inside of her mouth. A loud knock soon came to their apartment door, alerting both of them.
Jason was laid on the couch, his head buried in a pillow on the couch. Jason let out a loud groan, expressing the fact that he was too lazy to answer it. Avery didn’t want to answer it because she wasn’t the kind to making new friends and meeting new people. She thought that if she just ignored it, they would go away.
She was proven wrong when the same exact knock banged against the door. In annoyance, she bounded off of the top of the counter. On the way to the door, she threw another handful of M&M’s into her mouth. As she chewed on the delicious candy, she opened up the door, revealing an middle aged woman with a teenage boy beside her.
The first thing she noticed about the boy was his attire. It was completely nerdy. Avery didn’t get along with nerds. She despised them. They were too weird for her liking. The longer she stared at the unfashionable weirdo, the look he was giving her didn’t look too pleasant either. Her eyes swung over to the mother-looking figure beside him. She was giving Avery a wide smile.
The only thing that looked semi-interesting about the two strangers standing in front of her, was that the older lady was holding a plate of brownies. And brownies was something that Avery and Jason loved to eat. Avery leaned against the doorway and folded her arms, inhaling a big breath of air. When she exhaled, the older lady began to speak.
‘’Hello neighbor!’’ she greeted loudly. Avery’s ears had begun to ring from the volume of her voice. “We just wanted to welcome you into this building. My name is May and this is my nephew Peter,’’ Avery’s eyes shifted over back to the boy. He gave her a small smile. ‘’anyways, we’re just right across the hallway if you ever need us. We’re always here if you–’’
‘’Yeah yeah, we’ll call you whenever,’’ avery recalled. She’s heard it all before. Avery snapped her eyes at the brownies. She didn’t wait for May to give them to her and she swiped them right out of her hands. Peter exclaimed an unhappy ‘’Hey!’’ as Avery stepped back and put her hand on the door. ‘’Bye.’’
Avery had caught a glimpse of a pissed off teenage boy before the door had slammed all the way shut. Avery snorted to herself in amusement. He looked funny. And the fact that his name was Peter had made it even funnier. Avery found that name as nerdy as his outfit. Avery could overhear his voice as he vented out to aunt outside her door.
‘’She just stole your brownies Aunt May!’’ peter squeaked angrily. ‘’And worst of all she didn’t even say thank you!’’
‘’It’s okay Peter, the brownies were meant for her in the first place. And I’m sure she’s very thankful for them.’’ his aunt responded in a completely calm matter. Avery wanted to laugh out loud. She just wanted the brownies because it was free food! ‘’And if she’s not going to eat them, I’m sure her parents or siblings will.’’
Avery grimaced as the “P” word went through her ears. Avery didn’t have parents. Both of them died in a car accident. The entire family was in the car, Avery, Jason her parents. When the car wreck happened, the only two who made it out alive was Avery and Jason. Jason being eighteen years old was able to live with Avery alone, but where they lived before wouldn’t allow an eighteen year old to live alone with a fifteen year old, family or not.
That was the reason Avery and Jason had to move. The thing is, she has to pretend her parents are still alive if she wants to stay in the apartment. The day of her parents death was coming up soon, it was a few days away. The other reason for the move was because Avery works for Tony Stark. Jason is unaware of the fact that she fights crime.
Avery calls it the ‘’Stark Internship’’ to Jason whenever she talks about her job. Although it sounds sort of boring, she loves kicking the ass of bad guys. She has never had a partner though, which was the main reason of her independent fighting. She’s amazing fighting alone.
‘’Who was it Avery?’’ jason wailed from the couch. ‘’Did we get food?’’
‘’Yeah, just a visit from an aunt and her nephew,’’ avery responded, walking to the living room. ‘’she made us brownies, let’s dig it, shall we?’’
Jason sat up from the cough and nodded replying with a plain ‘’Yes we shall.’’ The two dug into the brownies and enjoyed every bite. Avery had to admit, the Aunt didn’t have too bad of cooking skills.
“Have fun on your first day, alright?” jason said, giving his little sister a tight side hug. ‘’Don’t get in too much trouble without me.’’
Avery nodded. Jason gave her a small kiss on the top of her head and than sent her out of the door. Avery adjusted the hat on top of her head and also her brand new back pack. Avery felt pretty confident on her look today. She had a plaid shirt tied around her waist with a Def Leppard concert crop top and ripped black jeans.
The elevator had gotten fixed last night so that was how she was going to get to school. There was a train that she was supposed to take to get to Midtown High School. She hated trains because they were cramped and filled with sweaty people. It was the only way she could get to school though, so she was sort of stuck with the train.
The elevator opened and she stepped inside. As the elevator was beginning to shut, she caught the nerdy boy frantically running up towards the elevator, calling out for her to keep it open. Avery rolled her eyes and lowered her head, making sure that the hat covered up her appearance. Right when Avery thought that Peter wasn’t going to make it, his hand stopped the door before shutting all the way.
Avery breathed a tiny ‘’Dang it!’’ to herself as Peter stepped inside with her. He saw that she was going to the same floor and left it. The elevator door shut and the awkwardness began. Avery stayed silent. She was surprised that he hadn’t recognized that it was the girl who ‘’stole’’ his Aunt’s brownies.
Peter’s breathing was the only thing audible, along with the soothing elevator music. Peter glanced over at Avery and his eyes went wide when he saw her Dep Leppard shirt.
‘’Ulch, that’s a terrible band,’’ peter commented out loud. Avery shot her eyes up. “they suck at singing. They wouldn’t know talent if it hit them in the face.’’
‘’Did I ask for your opinion?’’ avery asked, snapped her eyes at Peter. ‘’Because last time I checked, I didn’t.’’
Peter’s dirt brown eyes enlarged. ‘’I-It’s you!’’ he squeaked, pointing at her. ‘’You’re the rude girl who moved across from me and my Aunt! The one who stole my Aunt’s brownies!’’
‘’Oh get over it moron,’’ avery scoffed in exasperation. ‘’the brownies were meant for me in the first place anyways!’’
‘’You didn’t even bother to say thank you!’’
‘’You say that like it’s a sin.’’
‘’It is!’’ peter declared angrily. ‘’My Aunt May stayed up for two hours last night making those brownies!’’
‘’Oh boo freaking hoo.’’ she retorted in fake sadness. ‘’The brownies tasted like dirt anyways.’’
That was a lie, but Avery loved that her snotty responses pissed Peter off even more. Peter stomped up to the pad with all the floors and slammed his hand on the emergency stop. Avery clenched onto the bars of the elevator as it came to a complete stop. She held her breath as she realized what he had just done.
‘’Are you out of your damn mind dude!!’’ avery spat in anger. ‘’Why the in the hell did you just do that?!’’
“Because I’ve got some words for you!’’ peter shouted, pointing his finger at her in accusation. ‘’And I want you to hear every single one.’’
Peter walked closer to Avery. His face was inches away, his nose practically touching hers. Avery snorted, which confused Peter and drew him away. Avery had a smug smile spread across her lips. Peter lifted his eyebrows in confusion and anger.
‘’W-What are you snickering about?’’
‘’You’re adorable,’’ avery laughed, causing more rage for Peter. ‘’I know you like me. You think I’m cute, don’t you?’’
‘’What?!’’ peter exclaimed, his voice cracking in the process. ‘’I-I don’t think that!’’
‘’You’re tomato red face says otherwise, buddy.’’
‘’I-I-You’re..I–’’
‘’Can’t find the words? Here, let me help you,’’ avery straightened her posture. ‘’it’s never going to happen, nerd.’’
Peter had completely lost it. He couldn’t believe how much of a jerk she was being. Peter didn’t want to continue the argument and just pressed the button which made the elevator start up again. Avery mentally patted herself on the back in pride. As the elevator continued, Peter stayed silent. Her watch suddenly began to beep rapidly.
Her eyes snapped at her watch. It was Tony.

Doggone It - a Chris Evans oneshot author: jrubalcaba featuring: (f) reader x Chris Evans word count: 1241 words rating: G warnings: none set up: You’re house sitting when you find Chris’ lost dog Dodger. Fluff ensues A special thanks to @avenger-nerd-mom for being my beta for this!
“I can’t believe I have to spend my vacation house sitting,” I groaned, flopping down on the couch. I flew out to Santa Monica to visit my cousin, but as I pulled my car up to her house, she was getting into her car. She said there was an emergency and she needed to leave town for a few days, so if I could watch the house, she would make it up to me when she got back. It’s not a bad deal. She has an awesome backyard filled with a gorgeous in-ground pool, a hot tub, a grotto, and I now have it all to myself for the foreseeable future.
I grabbed my phone and pulled up Twitter, scrolling through my feed when I came across a few tweets from Chris Evans and his brother Scott, about his missing dog, Dodger.
“Oh no. Gone for a couple days? Poor thing. I hope they find him,” I said to myself, not really thinking much about it.. I played on Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr awhile before I tossed my phone down and grabbed my keys. My cousin had given me her key before she left so I could come and go as I pleased.
I got in my car and pulled up the GPS on my phone and decided to go exploring. I had traveled a few streets away when I drove past a dog that looked familiar. There’s NO WAY…
I turned around and went back to check on him. I got out of my car and held my hand out for him to sniff. “Hey baby. It’s ok, I’m not gonna hurt you,” I called out softly, crouching down to his level. He eyed me warily at first, seeing as I was a stranger, he wasn’t sure he could trust me.
I waited patiently until the dog came to me, sniffing then licking my hand. “Good boy. Yes, you’re a good boy aren’t you?” I crooned in a baby voice while I stroked his fur. “Let’s check your tag and see who your mommy or daddy is.” I grabbed the collar and after dodging his tongue, I was able to make out his name. “OMG! You ARE Dodger! You’re ok!” I couldn’t believe my luck.
I called him to my car and said the magic words any fur baby understands. “Go bye-bye?”
The tan and white mutt jumped in the passenger seat and sat down, waiting for me to take off, his muzzle practically turned up in a smile.
I drove very carefully back to my cousin’s house, talking to my new companion along the way. He would whine or bark in answer to my questions and statements. When we got inside the house, he jumped on the couch and started to waller around like a goofball. “Yeah, you’re definitely Chris’ dog.”
He had rolled onto his back, so the look he gave me was even funnier due to his tongue flopping around and his teeth showing. “Dork,” I muttered while I looked for something he could eat. I found some hamburger meat that had been thawed out, so I cooked and drained it, putting it on a plate on the floor. He vaulted over the back of the couch and began to devour the meat.
I slipped his collar off so I could look at it better and see if there was a number I could call. I found what looked to be a California number on the back, so I called it.
Hey it’s Chris. Can’t get to the phone right now, so leave ya name and numbah and I’ll call ya back.
Damn, his Boston accent is strong in his voice mail. Well, I’ll leave him a message. “Hi. Chris? I found Dodger. Call me back when you get this.” I ended the call then turned on my camera, taking a picture of Dodger and sending it to the number. Suddenly, an incoming call was coming through. I hit accept and answered “Hello?”
“Hi. Oh my God, did you really find him?
“Yea. Is this Chris?”
“Yeah. You found Dodger? Is he ok?”
“Yes I did. He’s fine. I cooked him some hamburger to eat. I don’t have any dog food.”
“That’s ok. Can I meet you somewhere to pick him up? I’m in Hollywood meeting with my agent.
“I’m in Santa Monica. We could meet at the Pier?”
“Perfect. I’ll call you when I get there.”
“Sounds great. I’ll see you soon and-
“Wait! How will I know it’s you?”
“Uh, Chris,” I bite back my laughter at the stressed ‘daddy.’ “I’ll be the one with Dodger by my side?”
He chuckles. I can picture him throwing his head back in a laugh. “Right.. Yea. Ok, then. Bye.”
“It’s okay, you were worried. We’ll see you in about twenty minutes.”
Holy shit. I was gonna meet Chris Evans! Dodger flopped over on his side, apparently in a food coma. I squatted down next to him and rubbed his belly. “Are you full boy? Did you eat enough?” I asked, seeing that the plate was empty. “Do you want to see daddy?”
I’ve never seen a dog get up so quick, but this dog did. He went berserk looking for Chris. “Dodger let’s go outside and potty and then we’ll go see daddy.” He ran to the door and turned in circles. I opened the door and he ran out, running to the corner of the house and doing his business before sprinting to the car. I guess he missed Chris too.
I arrived at Santa Monica Pier and parked, letting Dodger out before realizing that I didn’t have a leash for him. Hopefully Chris brings one. Just then I felt my phone vibrating, signaling that I had another call coming through. “Hello?”
“Hey it’s me. I’m pulling into the parking lot now.”
“Ok. We’re here. I’m parked at the edge of the beach. I’m wearing a white top and tie dye shorts. If I see you, I’ll come to you.”
Ok. I’m in brown shorts and a navy blue shirt with a grey sweater.”
“Ok.”
Yea, sure. ‘Cause I have no idea what he looks like, I giggle to myself.
I hung up and started pacing next to the car, Dodger keeping right next to me. God I hope my makeup isn’t smudged or nothing is stuck in my teeth. Suddenly, Dodger started barking and took off. I turned and watched as he launched himself at Chris, who fell to his knees and began hugging his best friend. I walked up and I could see tears on Chris’ face. “Now that’s a Kodak moment,” I gushed after watching them play. Chris looked up at me, a smile on his face.
“Hi. I’m Chris,” he said, holding his hand out to me as he stood. “Thanks for bringing him. I hope he wasn’t much trouble.” Offering my name, I shook his hand and smiled back.
“It was no problem. He was an absolute angel,” I crooned, reaching down to scratch behind Dodger’s ears.
“Do you have any plans? Maybe I could take you out for dinner as a thank you for finding him,” Chris offered hopefully. Man, Chris was obviously taking tips from Dodger on giving puppy-dog eyes. Well, I didn’t have anything better to do.
“Sure. Why not?” I shrugged, grinning as he offered his arm to me. Looks like this vacation just got way better.
