i used to think of “being sensitive” as a moral metric (in part because i am not what we typically label as sensitive #autismrocks) and it almost seems like a good one to use but like in order to perceive someone as sensitive we are actually just relying on their social performance. not to say it’s all calculated because it isn’t but like…the social performance has nothing to do with the performer’s morality or their actions. like you can cry about a conflict with a friend but that doesn’t mean you will take the most morally good actions/steps to repair the conflict….however i do think it’s good to be aware of because “sensitivity” is still a metric everyone else is judging by however unconsciously.
