I'm kind of reaching a point where I'm too burnt out to engage with even overall well thought-out, good faith critiques of Veilguard. And that's honestly pretty impressive, because with Inquisition, reaching this same level of fandom exhaustion took me over two years, rather than just under two months.
#squirrel plays datv#i don't TRUST anyone anymore; which is a damn issue because it takes away the best parts of the fandom experience#but i just don't have it in me to read anyone's toxic spew OR tepid-ass navelgazing anymore#i don't have it in me to read past the first few sentences because i don't TRUST frankly anyone not to just...#say something STAGGERINGLY idiotic halfway through and sour their whole post for me immediately.#most of all i keep catching myself rolling my eyes at the “it has its flaws; but” type of meaningless filler#and i've always disliked that approach; but now... it seems to be hitting an especially sensitive nerve#and as soon as i see someone say something to that effect i just sigh and scroll past#do we NEED to preemptively defend ourselves from any possible assumption that we might just LIKE something flawed?#why are we so eager to preface any expression of enjoyment with a clear and unambiguous acknowledgement of flaw?#are we THIS scared to be perceived as someone feeling joy?#i don't fucking NEED to tell you that nothing is flawless. you either know already; or won't figure it out through me telling you either.#that preface is nothing more than preemptive self-defense. it's the “thoughts and prayers” of media critique.#fucking.... written equivalent of lukewarm unsweetened oatmeal.#ugh i might just#delete later#ignore me; i'm exhausted; bitter; and wishing this week was well over already
