Speak Now
This.... was supposed to be short. But then it spiralled. I hope you guys like it! Characters and their world by @lumosinlove
Julian
“Re?”
Julian’s voice was quiet, but his brother heard him anyway. Remus always heard him. Sitting out on the porch under the starlight, just like they used to do when Julian was very small and Remus would let him sneak out of his room after their parents put him to bed. They would sit on the porch swing under a pile of blankets, usually with a mug of hot chocolate and just hang out. Sometimes they were quiet. Sometimes they laughed at jokes, but no matter what they were doing, Jules treasured every memory.
It was fitting this was how he was spending the night before his wedding.
“Yeah?” Remus half hummed, tilting his head, tearing his eyes away from the stars to his brother.
“Were you scared? The night before your wedding?”
Remus smiled softly, cupping his mug. “I was a hell of a lot of things before my wedding. Nervous? Sure. But not scared.”
Julian nodded, the heavy knot in his chest twisting. Maybe he really was making a mistake.
Then
“Hi, I’m Katie.”
Julian grinned and shook her hand. “I’m Julian, but you can call me Jules if you want.”
Katie nodded, a funny little business -like movement as she stood in her fairy costume, wings poking over her shoulders. “We’re all playing downstairs, wanna come?”
Julian nodded eagerly, pulling away from Remus and his parents and rushing down to the basement. His feet halted when he reached the bottom, his eyes wider than dinner plates.
“Woah,” He breathed. “You have a rink in your house!”
Katie nodded, giggling. “Oui. Jouez-vous au hockey?”
Jules blinked, looking at her in confusion. “Oh, I uh, I don’t speak French, sorry.” He said as his face flushed a little but Katie just grabbed his hand and pulled him over to a wall of skates.
“That’s okay. Do you play hockey?”
Now this, Jules understood.
“Yes!” He said, bouncing on his toes in anticipation, noticing all the other kids playing on the ice and realising that he might get to as well.
Katie looked pleased as she pulled a small pair of white skates and took off her shoes. “My brothers have lots of skates, you should look and see if there’s some in your size.”
Julian went to them immediately, looking at them in awe, all of them far more elegant and expensive than any he had ever owned. He found a pair in his size and pulled them out gingerly, even though they looked well worn.
“Are you sure it’s okay for me to borrow them?” He confirmed with Katie, even as he pulled off his shoes. Katie just nodded impatiently, having already laced up.
“Oui, it’s okay I promise. Now come on! I wanna go skate!”
“You can go,” Jules said, rushing to tie them up, “I’ll catch up.”
Katie looked at him like he was crazy. “Don’t be silly.” She said, reaching a hand out to take his. “We can go together. Come on.”
Julian finished tying his skates, stood up and took Katie’s hand. Together, they stepped onto the ice.
Now
“Are you scared?” Remus asked, his concerned voice cutting through Julian’s thoughts. “Because it’s not too late you know.”
“No, no it’s fine.” Julian said, hoping it sounded reassuring to Remus. It didn’t to his own ears. “Just nervous I suppose, but you said that’s normal.”
Remus tilted his head the way he did when Julian would pretend he hadn’t eaten the last chocolate bar, even with the evidence all over his face.
“You know you can tell me anything, right?”
Julian sighed, resting his head on his brother's shoulder, hearing the heartbeat that used to rock him to sleep.
“Yeah, yeah I know.”
Then
“Hey Katie.” Jules said, still a little shy but glad to see a friendly face in the locker room.
“Jules!” She beamed, bouncing over in her ‘Dumais’ jersey. “Whose number did you wear today?”
Jules flushed as he lifted up his number six shirt to reveal the number twelve underneath. “Both.”
Katie nodded, impressed. “Cool. Hey wanna go get some snacks?”
Jules didn’t even respond, just told his mom where he was going and raced her down the corridor to the kitchen, running past the rows and rows of framed photographs and dodging photographers and reporters.
“Ha! I win!” He yelled as they burst through the door to the kitchen, racing through the doorway at the same time. If they had been a little bigger, they might have gotten stuck in the frame.
“Nah ah!” Katie protested, “It was a tie.”
“My foot went in first”
“You don’t know that for sure.”
“Yes I do.”
“No you don’t.”
“Wanna bet?”
“Whoever wins the race back to the locker room is the actual winner.” Katie proposed and Jules nodded, satisfied.
He climbed onto the counter to reach the high cupboards, only to discover the cabinet stocked with mugs and glasses.
“Over here,” Katie said, giggling as she opened the fridge, scanning for something good. “Ooh, chocolate!”
Jules jumped down and went to her side. “Can we just take it?”
Katie nodded. “Oui. Plus, they’re not supposed to eat chocolate, so we’re doing them a favour by taking it away.”
Julian donned a matching smirk. “Katie, I like the way you think.”
Now
“Oh here you are!” Sirius half-whispered as he poked his head out the front door. “I’ve been looking for you two everywhere.”
Remus pulled back a corner of the blanket and patted the bench beside him. “Wanna join us?”
Sirius looked to check with Jules first, before nodding and sliding in next to Remus. Julian had long since overcome his starry-eyed obsession with Sirius-the-hockey-god but he’d never be over the love for Sirius-his-brother-in-law. Sirius who had come to all of Julian’s big games. Sirius who tended to be awake whenever Julian couldn’t sleep, so he would wordlessly take him out for midnight drives. Sirius who had later taught Julian to drive in that same car Julian accidentally crashed one icy morning. His brother in law hadn’t even gotten mad, not for a second. Julian had personally seen one of his friend’s parents red with anger after spotting a scratch in the paint, but Sirius hadn’t even blinked at the massive pole shaped dent in the hood of his car, just run to make sure Julian was alright.
“Sirius?” Jules asked into the soft silence. Sirius just hummed in response.
“Were you scared? When you were getting married.”
Sirius seemed to still for a moment, a gentle breeze rustling his curls as he thought. “Non.”
Remus’ chin ducked towards his chest, his eyes flitting to Sirius. “Really?”
Sirius scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. “Well, I was scared for sure, but I was scared of messing it up, or that my family would make a surprise appearance at the reception or that we’d lose the rings. But I was never scared of a life with Re.”
Remus laughed softly. “We did lose the rings.”
“Oui. But it didn’t even matter, it all worked out, ouais? So really I had nothing to worry about.”
Julian and Sirius chuckled too, all three of them remembering back. Julian had nearly forgotten about that - surprising since it had been partially his fault. His and Katie’s. They had become inseparable by then and the two of them together had gained the name ‘JK Chaos’.
Then
“Come on, let’s see what’s in here!” A nine year old Katie whispered to an eleven year old Jules as they crept through the country house that was being used as the staging house for Remus and Sirius' outdoor wedding.
Katie rattled the brass door handle, but it was locked. “Do you have a key?”
Julian gave her an incredulous look. “I don’t have a key to my own room, why would I have a key for here?”
Katie shrugged, her dress swishing gently, the bluebell shade bright against her skin. “I dunno - groomsman duties?”
Julian laughed but shook his head. They walked down the corridor a few paces, stopping at the window that overlooked where the ceremony would take place. Chairs bedecked the grass, all turned to face the focal point - the beautiful ivy arch, bedecked in flowers. Everything was immaculate, untouched. Any guests staying in the country house were still getting ready and the rest had yet to arrive. Jules lifted on his toes to see a little further out the window, but a tall sturdy tree to the right blacked his view.
He turned so quickly he nearly got whiplash, grabbing Katie’s wrist unconsciously.
“Look! A tree!”
Katie raised her eyebrows at him. “Jules, I’m pretty sure they have trees in Wisconsin too.”
Julian shook his head, too excited to even roll his eyes. “No, look where that tree is! If the window to the locked room is open…”
Katie’s eyes lit up, her mischievous grin returning.  “We might be able to get in.” She breathed. “Jules, you genius.” She grabbed his hand and began rushing down the corridor. “Let’s go!”
“Is it open?” Julian called, a couple of branches below Katie.
“Un moment.” She muttered and he smiled, knowing she was concentrating too much to even have listened to him, never mind switch to a language he actually understood. She paused and grabbed the silky top layer of her dress, gathering and tying it in a knot around her waist, leaving the white underskirt hanging. “Allors,” She said, sounding much more satisfied. She climbed onto the branch that extended towards the window and shuffled along it, craning her neck.
“It’s open!”
Jules let out a whoop of victory and climbed the rest of the way, careful not to stain his suit as she slid her fingers into the small gap, prying the window open so they could both clamber in. The room was unimpressively empty. Lovey, like all the other rooms, perhaps a living room if the several couches were to be trusted. A wall of shelves boasted an impressive amount of books and everything seemed to be edged with gold. Other than that though - Julian couldn’t see any reason why the room should be barred.
“A mystery.” Katie said as she trailed her hand along a bookshelf. Julian agreed with her as he sat down on one of the luxurious chairs, a little side table with a lamp on his left.
“What’s this?” He voiced as he picked up the little black box that had been resting in the light streaming in from the window. Katie wandered over to peer at it as he opened it carefully to find two gold rings resting inside.
“Oh.” Jules whispered, finally understanding. “That’s why it’s locked.”
They both picked up a ring, looking at them curiously. The metal glinted in the light and Jules angled the one in his hands to read the inscription.
“Mon voeu.” He muttered. “What’s mon voeu?”
“How would I know what you wish for?” Katie retorted, before she read the engraving on her own. “Oh right I see. ‘My wish’.”
“Oh.” Jules repeated. “That’s really nice.”
Footsteps and voices came from down the corridor and Julian and Katie froze.
“Did you see the cake?”
“It’s literally all I’ve been thinking about since the tasting.”
Julian met Katie’s eyes, both of them hardly breathing as they listened carefully. Lily and James.
“The tasting was months ago!”
“So you can guess I’m pretty excited about it.” Lily chuckled. “Do you have the key?”
Julian rushed to put the box back on the table and he and Katie half flew in their rush to get back out the window. Katie went first, Julian close on her heels as they scrambled down the tree.
“Where did they say they left it?”
“On the side table with the lamp.”
“Oh I’ve got it, come on, let’s get back.”
Julian let out a sigh of relief while Katie looked at him in horror.
“Jules…” She whispered as she pulled a gold ring out her pocket. “We have a problem.”
Julian felt his heart speed up as he pulled out the matching ring. They had been in too much of a rush to put them back.
“We are gonna get in so much trouble.”
Now
“You were so scared.” Remus laughed, tears forming in his eyes, matching ones already wetting Julian’s cheeks as he lost himself in the memory. It was true - to this day, Julian remembered the way their hands trembled and they stuttered through the explanations, but in the end, no one had cared. It became a funny story to tell at the reception.
“You laugh, but we dropped them in the grass on the way to bring them back and it took us so long to find them again, we were seriously trying to come up with something to replace them with.”
They burst into a new round of laughter, Hope coming outside at the racket.
“Boys!” She scolded as if they were all little kids. “You should be in bed - it’s a big day tomorrow.” Despite her commanding tone, her eyes were soft. Time was a fickle friend to all but Hope Lupin, who looked just as lovely today as she did twenty years ago. And perhaps even twenty years before that.
“We’ll be in soon.” Sirius promised and she nodded satisfied, vanishing indoors again.
“Suck-up.” Julian teased, elbowing Sirius. “Always wants to be the favourite.”
“I think he is the favourite.” Remus grumbled. “You’re the youngest Jules, so you’ve got that going for you. I, however, have been replaced.”
Sirius chuckled, a low sound from his chest and curled an arm around Remus. “You can be my favourite.”
“You can’t cook like she does.” Remus lamented dramatically, but grinned to show he wasn’t serious before kissing Sirius’ cheek.
“We probably should get to bed though. Especially you Jules, you need all that beauty sleep you can get.”
“Hey!”
Then
Hey Jules!
You got a phone!
Yup! JK Chaos can finally go viral!
Thirteen year old Julian chuckled as he sat in the passenger seat of the car on the way to practice.
Sirius says hi. Katie texted and Julian sent a picture of him waving in response before tucking his phone into his bag and climbing out of the car.
“Thanks mom!” He half yelled as he closed the door and ran inside to the rink, waving at his friends.
“Hi Julian.”
Julian turned to see one of the members of the girls team - Anna. They were the same age group and the two teams often had to share the ice if the rink was busy.
“Oh hey Anna, how’re you?”
She grinned, her light hair tumbling around her face until she scraped it back into a ponytail as she chatted to him. Julian was never sure how girls managed to tie their hair back so quickly with so little effort but it was pretty cool. He wondered if maybe he should learn so he could do Katie’s sometime.
“I’m good! I’d better run though, I’m late for practice.”
Jules nodded and with that, Anna was gone. He blinked and continued his way to his own locker where many of his own team were already gathered.
“Hey guys!” He grinned, and just like that, his head was back in the game.
Now
Julian stared up at the ceiling of his childhood bedroom. The glow in the dark stars were still there, although their glow was very faint now. Not that Julian needed their light to guide him, he had looked at those stars all his life, he could map them out better than a sailor.
He was getting married tomorrow.
And so, he did as he so very often did. He texted Katie.
Then
The Christmas party was loud and busy, people seemingly in every nook and cranny in the house. Julian looked around for Katie, he had been here for at least an hour but he had only seen glimpses of the other girl and she had always been busy, whether it was helping Celeste put out food or chatting to others and once even putting out a minor fire she had certainly not caused by tipping over a candle  but so far, she hadn’t been able to talk to Julian.
Julian finally caught her eye and they managed to slip away going out to the garden, past the pool and down to the swing hidden by a great big tree where they had always plotted and planned.
“We need a code word.” Katie said by way of greeting. “So we can say it and the other knows we need to talk, just us.”
Julian agreed. He couldn’t believe it had taken this long to think of something like that. At fifteen, he and Katie had been best friends for at least six years now.
“What should our code word be?”
Katie shrugged, sitting on the swing and rocking back and forth gently. “Pancakes?”
Julian laughed, but he nodded. “Yeah that works.”
Katie grinned, but her face quickly became more serious.
“Hey Jules?” She asked, her voice softer than he had heard it in a long time.
“Yeah?” His tone matched hers, but he didn’t know why. He hadn’t planned it.
“Have you ever kissed anyone?”
Julian froze, his heart stuttering. In the moonlight, Katie’s hair glowed, silver catching on the dark strands braided back, her jeans and jumper not suitable for the weather, nor were Julian’s own but they hadn't planned on coming out here for long. “No.” He whispered.
Katie nodded. “Yeah, me neither.”
She stood up, shivering a little. “Come on, we should get back inside.”
Julian could only blink, but made to follow her. “Yeah okay.” He followed, taking a few quick steps to catch up with her when Katie turned quickly and they collided.
Katie reached out and steadied herself with Julian’s shoulder before surging forward and pressing their lips together. Julian stayed frozen where he was, her lips warm against the cold night.
Katie pulled away and stepped back, nodding to herself. “I just wanted to know what it’d be like.” She explained and then launched into a description of what new drills her hockey team were learning. It was funny, everything was different, but nothing had changed.
Julian thought about the things they were learning in science, all the calculations. How there always needed to be a constant.
He thought maybe Katie was his constant.
Now
You up?
Is this a booty call? Cause I gotta say, it seems like inappropriate timing.
Julian laughed, then covered his mouth, hoping he hadn’t woken anyone. Katie’s quick wit had never once failed to amaze him.
Darn, there goes my plans
Why are you still up?
I just can’t sleep
So you’re texting me?
Who else?
Then
Julian got his first girlfriend at seventeen.
Anna was lovely and bright and sweet. They had been dating for around six months already when she finally met Katie, the Dumais girl arriving in Wisconsin for a weekend visit.
Julian didn’t know why he had been nervous - they both got on really well. He had had no indicators to suggest otherwise and yet the entire week leading to their meeting, his head had been full of anxious ‘what ifs’. Not to mention the knot in his chest.
But there was no reason to be nervous… right? He just felt like this because Katie was his very best friend. He wanted them to get along. Yeah, that was it.
“I like her.” Katie commented as Anna left the Lupin house.
“Yeah, me too.” Julian said automatically, laughing when Katie elbowed his side.
“Well duh. That’s why you asked her out.”
Julian shrugged as they walked back inside waving to his dad who was on the phone in the kitchen. “Actually it was the other way around.”
Katie barked a laugh as she threw herself on Julian’s bed, tucking her arms behind her head, lounging as if she owned the place. “Why am I not surprised?”
“I’m not sure if I should be insulted or not.” Julian said as he lay down next to her, staring up at his stars.
Katie was the one to shrug this time, shifting with the movement. “Neither. It’s just an observation I suppose.”
“And what would that observation be exactly?”
Katie tilted her head to look at him. “You’re careful. Not with other stuff, mon dieu, we all know you’re a reckless idiot on the ice but with this kind of stuff. You’re gentle I guess.”
Julian smiled, that warm rush of feeling known to your core washing over him. “And you’re the exact opposite.”
Katie grinned, some of her dark curls coming loose. “But of course! JK Chaos wouldn’t be balanced if I wasn’t.”
Julian smiled, holding out his hand and they performed their super secret, super complicated, super cool handshake. Katie had named it when she was ten and it had stuck.
“Well we need balance.” Julian agreed and Katie nodded, blue eyes meeting his for a moment before she turned away, biting her lip.
“Ouais.”
Now
Julian looked at the words on the screen, his heart clenching.
So you’re texting me?
Who else?
Your soon to be wife for one
Julian didn’t know what to do. He felt like Katie was the only one who could help him figure this out, but Katie was the last person he should ask.
Ha ha. He said, because even that was better than the turmoil inside him. Guess I’m just nervous.
Why?
Why am I nervous? Cause I’m getting married. I know I call you Katie Kat but I sure hope that brain isn’t made of chocolate.
We should get you up on a stage. Katie responded and Julian snorted,  practically hearing her sarcasm even as he lay alone.
But what do you have to be worried about?
Um.., How about the terrifying concept of making the wrong decision?
Katie was quiet for a long time. Julian thought maybe she had fallen asleep when a reply finally came through.
Do you think you’re making the wrong choice?
Julian paused. Was he?
I don’t think so?
Do you love her?
Yes. Julian wrote back, even as something thundered in his chest.
Well then, you have your answer I guess. Katie responded.  I’d better get to sleep.
Jules held his phone close to his chest.
Yeah, me too. Night Katie Kat
Then
“Do you love her?” Katie asked out of nowhere as they passed the puck back and forth in her basement.
“We’ve been dating for two years.” Julian replied, sending the puck back to her harder than he meant. From her raised eyebrows he knew she had noticed, but she didn’t comment.
“That’s not what I asked.”
Julian shrugged, taking the puck and dragging it around the goal.
“I guess? How do you ever really know you’re in love.”
Katie raised her chin, blue meeting brown as their eyes focused on each other. Julian could have sworn she was staring at his soul.
“I suppose it’s something you just know.” Katie said. “My maman and papa are in love. And Re and Sirius. Leo, Logan and Finn. Your parents. They all seem to know pretty well.”
“Yeah.” Julian whispered, his mind reeling. Remus and Sirius were his role models for just about everything, including the love he wanted to have. Was that what he shared with Anna? How had they known? How would Julian know?
Now
Then Jules crept into Remus’ room once more.
“Re?” He whispered into the dark. The light from the hall dimly lit the room and Remus stirred, Sirius sleeping soundly next to him.
“Jules?” Remus whispered, even as he threw back the covers to climb out of bed, tiptoeing so he wouldn’t wake Sirius and following Julian back to his room. “Hey Jules, what’s up?”
Remus climbed onto the bed with him, just like he used to do when Julian was small and had a nightmare.
“How do I know for sure?”
Remus didn’t have to ask what he meant. “I guess you never do. You just have to trust that you love someone and they return that same love back to you.”
But what wasn’t quite what Julian meant. He didn’t doubt that Anna loved him. He was just never sure if he loved her the same.
He thought he must. Julian was twenty six years old, they’d been dating for nearly ten years. Although sometimes… just sometimes Julian thought that was maybe why he had proposed. Because that’s what everyone expected from them, particularly as they had been together for so long. It was the logical next step.
“Right, yeah.” Julian muttered. “That makes sense I guess.”
Remus held out his arm and Julian hugged him tight.
“I can hear you mind whirring.” Remus murmured, but Julian just tucked his face into his brother's chest. “It’s not too late Jules.”
Tears burned Julian’s eyes but he refused to let them fall. It was too late, it was all too late. He was on the ice and he could see the collision coming but there was nothing he could do to stop it.
A song he had heard a long time ago rang through Julian’s head, one line playing over and over again on loop.
And I asked my friend, what’s a fella to do? Cause her hair was black and her eyes were blue.
So Julian held his big brother close, and fell asleep.
Katie
Now
“I still can’t believe it.” Marc laughed as they ate breakfast at the hotel, his plate piled with food from the buffet. “Little Julian getting married.”
“Yeah.” Katie agreed, taking a big drink from her coffee. “Neither can I.”
Marc continued eating, oblivious to the storm raging inside Katie’s heart. “Why aren’t you best man?”
Katie raised an eyebrow. “Well for one, I’m not a man.”
Marc rolled his eyes, pausing to take a sip of orange juice before shovelling another forkful into his mouth. “Y’know wha- I mean.”
Katie covered her face with her hands. “Okay ew, first of all don’t talk with your mouth full. You’re not five. And second of all, Remus is his best man.”
Marc tilted his head, accepting the answer and Katie could have sighed in relief. She was already tense enough, two people had already come up to her for a picture and at least three had ‘discreetly’ photographed her as she just tried to have her breakfast. She hadn’t even showered yet so she was not looking forward to what the media would come up with later.
Then
“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” Katie grumbled to Adele as her sister finished pinning her hair. “Why am I doing this again?”
Adele didn’t miss a beat. “Because prom is fun, and even if it’s not, hanging out with your best friend in fancy clothes is always funny.”
Katie couldn’t argue with that. Sighing, she stood up and turned to Adele, her floor length gown comically out of place in her room cluttered with hockey sticks and signed pucks, helmets and polaroid's of her with her team.
“How do I look?”
Adele beamed and kissed her cheek, being careful not to smudge Katie’s makeup. “Comme un ange.”
Katie rolled her eyes but smiled and began to leave her bedroom, hearing the doorbell ring.
“Wait, shit I can’t go down now!” She said in a mild panic. “Jules is here, if I go now it’ll be like some dumb movie when the girl comes down the stairs as the guy just stares at her. It’s weird and awkward.”
Adele bit her lip as if she was trying to suppress a smile. “Okay, I’ll go and distract them and you can sneak down, ouais?”
Katie nodded gratefully. “Ouais. Merci.”
Katie waited in the upstairs corridor, hearing Adele lead her family into the kitchen. When the voices had dimmed a little, she gathered her skirts, her sneakers peeking out at her as she crept down the stairs.
“Oh, wow.”
Katie whipped around to see Julian walking out from the bathroom, eyes wider than Katie had ever seen them.
“I thought you were in the kitchen.” Katie groaned as she let her dress drop inelegantly around her legs once more. She looked him over, eyeing his blue suit with a careful eye. “You don’t look half bad.”
Julian laughed and took a step closer, holding his hand over his heart dramatically. “Wow Katie Kat, you sure know how to flatter a man.”
Katie raised a single eyebrow, a power play of there ever was one. “I mean, you’ve said nothing about how I look so really I think I have the upper hand here.”
Julian quirked his signature goofy smile before finally pulling Katie in for a hug. “You look incredible.”
Now
“Katie, ma cheri, es-tu prêt?”
Katie looked up from where she was rooting through her suitcase to see her mom, stunningly beautiful as always in a deep red dress.
“I’m ready.” She cleared her throat, standing up straight. “You look amazing.”
Celeste waved her off with a flick of her wrist. “Oh non, look at you.”
Katie blushed, her forest green dress fluttering around her. “Merci.”
Celeste took a step forward, cupping Katie’s face in her hands. “You love him.”
Katie didn’t even have it in her to be surprised. Of course her mom knew. She felt tears well up in her eyes but tried her best not to let them fall - it had taken her long enough to do her makeup, she really didn’t want to have to do it again.
“Oui.”
“Does he know?”
Katie shook her head sadly. “Of course not, he loves someone else.”
Celeste carefully wiped away the stray tear that had danced down Katie’s cheek. “Are you sure?”
Then
“I think I have literally never seen it rain so hard.” Julian commented as the two of them stared out the car windshield as the rain poured around them. They faced the hotel where the dance was being held, but even stepping out of the car would have them soaked instantly.
“See, this was a sign that I wasn’t supposed to come.” Katie commented, her tone dry. Julian side eyed her, not saying anything for a minute before he turned up the car radio.
“I have an idea.” He said, opening the door and stepping out into the car park in the lashing rain. He ran to Katie’s side and opened the door, holding out his hand.
“Come on! Come dance in the rain.”
If she had been Adele, she might have refused or protested. She might have even taken off her dress to protect it.
But she was not Adele.
So Katie took Julian’s hand, laughing at his curls, already flattened against his forehead and shut the door behind her, watching splotches of water darken her dress until she was fully saturated, tilting her head back into the sky.
She opened her mouth, sticking out her tongue to catch the raindrops, Jules giggling as he followed suit, the two of them looking absolutely ridiculous and getting very strange looks from passer byers who had made use of the wonderful invention that was the umbrella, but they didn’t care.
Katie connected her phone to the car speakers and pressed play to a song, grabbing both of Julian’s hands and spinning them in a fast circle, round and round until they fell together, laughing as hands slid over slippery skin and hair stuck to them better than any tattoo.
And I don't know how it gets better than this
You take my hand and drag me head first
Fearless
And I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress
Fearless
Now
Katie couldn’t help but think about that day lying on Julian’s bed. She had said he was careful and she was not. She was supposed to be his counterbalance.
Katie had been too careful, she hadn’t been doing her job.
“It’s not too late.” Her mom had whispered.
Speak now or forever hold your peace.
Heart thundering, Katie picked up her phone. Six hours until Julian’s wedding she pressed his contact and texted him one word.
Pancakes.
Then
Was it just Katie or did Julian seem nervous? Julian was never nervous with her. Maybe it was just the connection of the phone call, she should move to a place where her signal was stronger-
“Katie, I um.. I’m gonna ask Anna to marry me.”
Katie’s eyes snapped to his face. “Quoi?”
Julian swallowed, and Katie watched from miles away as he pulled out a ring.
“Yeah, I figured it was time.”
“Romantic.” Katie teased as she tried to quell the feeling that she was going to throw up. This was not how it was supposed to go. It had taken her a long time to figure out her feelings for Julian, but at twenty four she had finally worked it out. And he was going to marry someone else.
Now
“Hey Katie Kat.”
Katie smiled weakly, shoving her hands in her coat pocket to hide the trembling. She felt overdressed in her outfit for the wedding when Julian was still in jeans but that couldn’t be helped. Katie sat next to Jules on the Lupins’ porch swing, glad she was wearing makeup because maybe it would help hide her blush.
“The weather’s really nice today, huh?” Jules prompted, but Katie just smiled, steeling herself. She couldn’t idly talk about the weather, she would lose her nerve. So she threw back her shoulders, raised her chin and-
“Julian, I love you.”
Julian frowned, taking her hand. “I know, I love you too Katie, what-”
Katie shook her head. “No, Jules, listen. I’m in love with you.”
Julian froze and Katie’s heart beat over a hundred times a minute. Or maybe it had stopped completely. Either way it certainly wasn’t doing what it should be and Katie’s hands shook and she bit her tongue to stop herself from blurting out more when Julian obviously needed to process things.
Julian stood up abrupt, taking his keys out of his pocket. “I have to go.” He said and took off, getting into his car and driving away. Katie sat frozen where she was, alone once more, lost in the place where she had always felt found. Julian drove away, the world spun around and Katie stayed right where she was.
Then
Katie opened the door to Sirius and Remus’ house with her key - she had been given one for when Julian had come to stay, so she could come and go as she pleased.
“Salut, it’s me!” She called into the empty hallway as she dropped her bag and ventured in a little further. Sirius was in the kitchen pouring a cup of coffee and he just smiled at her as he pulled out another mug.
“Hey Katie, you here to get into some more JK Chaos?”
Katie chuckled and accepted the coffee with thanks, cupping it with both hands and holding it close to her face. “What else would I do?”
Sirius just smiled as Julian came into the room, wordlessly greeting Katie with their super secret, super complicated, super cool handshake.
“See you later!” Julian said to Sirius and Katie waved goodbye before they went out the door, getting into the car and driving away.
“What’re we doing today?” Katie asked as she drove. Julian shrugged in the passenger seat.
“I don’t care, as long as I’m with you.”
Now
Someone was knocking on her hotel room.
Katie had made her way back, she hadn’t even said goodbye to the Lupins - she didn’t think she could without crying. Instead she went home alone and straight to her room, knowing she couldn’t miss the wedding no matter how much she may want to. If she didn’t she knew that one day, she’d look back and wish she were in the pictures. Wish she was there for her best friend. So she was going to go and smile and be happy because she loved Jules and she could do this for him.
There was another knock on the door and Katie rolled her eyes. “I’m coming, jeez calm down.” She muttered, the door handle cold on her skin as she opened the door.
Julian was waiting on the other side.
“I called off the wedding.”
If Katie had been holding anything, she would have dropped it. As it was, she took a step backwards, blinking. “What?”
“I called off the wedding.” Julian repeated, running his fingers through already very mussed hair. “I love you. I’ve always loved you. I’m a blind idiot, but I love you.”
Katie was beginning to wonder if any of this was real when Marc came up behind Jules, completely oblivious.
“Hey Katie, did you get that text saying the wedding’s off? Weird, what’s that abou- Oh hey Jules.”
Katie turned to her brother.
“Marc, I love you, but if you don’t leave right now I might have to kill you in your sleep tonight.”
“So that’s why the wedding’s off.” Marc commented before backing away, no doubt rushing off to tell everyone what he had seen.
“Come in before anyone else sees.” Katie said as she took Julian’s hand, pulling him in and shutting the door.
Julian’s hands were shaking. “Am I too late?” He whispered. “Please tell me I’m not too late.”
Katie smiled as she brushed a stray curl out of his eyes. “You’re right on time.”
And then she kissed him.
Once upon a time, there had been a girl who kissed a boy in her back garden at midnight. She had been young and inexperienced but even then, she knew the kiss had been magical.
Today, there was a girl who kissed a boy in a hotel room on what should have been his wedding day. She was still young, but much more experienced so she could now say with much more confidence that if their first kiss had been magical, this one was earth shattering.
“I love you.” Julian whispered again and again between deep kisses that made Katie feel like her soul was bared.
“Took you long enough.” Katie grumbled, but kissed him again, twining her fingers through his hair like she always dreamed she would. “I love you too.”
Soon
Katie blushed as she sat in a room, surrounded by both their families. Her dad kissed her on the cheek before handing her a drink and proposing a toast.
“To JK Chaos,” Dumo said, his knowing smile nearly splitting his face. “For finally getting their shit together.”
Everyone cheered while Katie just laughed, lifting her hand to show off the engagement ring and tilting her head a little to give Julian a chaste kiss. He grinned down at her, hand resting delicately on her waist.
He surveyed the crowded room for a moment, before ducking down a little to whisper in her ear; “Pancakes?”
Katie was pretty sure her eyes sparkled as she winked at him. “I’ll meet you outside in ten.”
The End.

in every kind of way
life had taught remus a lot about love. from a young age, he understood that love wasn’t the all-encompassing, galactic force of happiness and joy that movies made it seem like. he understood that love was work, sacrifice and, despite whatever idealistic nonsense the poets had come up with, love was conditional.
love wasn’t the happy conclusion to your life, the ending that made every suffering worthwhile. love was just an emotion that bound you to people until eventually, inevitably, it ran out.
so here he was, dressed to the nines and waiting for his love for sirius to simply fade away.
remus had loved sirius for more than a decade and he had loved sirius in different capacities - as a classmate, as a brother, as a friend, a fellow troublemaker and as a soulmate. with each year that passed by, remus waited for the roaring romantic songs playing in his ears to quieten down, and instead found himself falling deeper and deeper for every new side to sirius that he discovered.
the boy was a phenomenon, a force of nature with so many layers to understand, to care for, to love. and remus, an absolute buffoon, was helpless to his magnetic pull.
“remus, my boy,” sirius said with a clap of his hand on remus’ shoulder. “why the long face? you look like you’re preparing to meet the reaper.”
silver eyes and black hair. it shouldn’t be attractive. not after so many goddamn years.
“well, I’m dressed to go for a blind date that you have set up for me and you threatened to disembowel prongs and wormtail if they told me who it was with,” remus stated with a wry smile. “excuse me for preparing for the worst.”
“moony, are you kidding me?” sirius said, taking another step into remus’ space and inserting all ten of his fingers into remus’ carefully coiffed hair. “if i knew how to summon the grim reaper, i would be the one getting ready to go on a hot date and getting my booty eaten.”
remus laughed, his heart calming down just a tad. it was ironic how sirius was the cause of his trampled over heart and the only person who could soothe him.
sirius grinned softly, running his fingers gently through remus’ hair until they fell apart into his natural curls. “mm, much better,” he said, fixing his favourite curl to fall perfectly in its place on remus’ forehead. he cupped remus’ cheeks and ran his thumbs across his brows and then his cheekbones. “my beautiful boy.”
remus knew that he should be working on letting his feelings for sirius fade, he knew how dangerous his unrequited love was, but just for a second - just a moment - he allowed himself to be sirius’ beautiful boy. he let himself belong.
“moony,” sirius said softly, “you know you don’t have to hide things from me, right? you can tell me why you looked so glum before.”
all sense of warmth quickly left remus, leaving just a sense of dread simmering at the bottom of his stomach. “of course,” he said quickly, trying not to show how terrified he felt at where this conversation could be going.
“then why won’t you admit it?” sirius asked, tilting his head just so. “just admit that you were monologuing in your head, like the dramatic little gay boy that you are.”
remus laughed boisterously and suddenly, a combination of relief that his secret was safe and the knowledge that sirius would always know everything about him, apart from the one think remus needed him to know the most.
remus grinned, turning to the mirror again to make sure it looked real and not practiced. “of course i was. can’t go to dates without monologuing. has glee taught you nothing?”
you can do this, remus, he thought to himself, hands clenched into fists on top of his thighs. just have to get through this one date and prove to yourself that you don’t need sirius. you can date and love others.
remus had arrived right at the designated time for his date with the mystery boy at the fancy restaurant sirius had sent him the address for. their little booth was in the very back corner of the restaurant, cozy and away from prying eyes. however, it was fifteen minutes past the Date Time and there was no mystery boy to be seen.
just as remus was making up his mind to leave, a body slipped into the seat opposite him. a body he was, unfortunately, very familiar with, both clothed and naked, thanks to james and sirius’ “nature wanted us naked” phase in grade 7.
sirius looked flushed, face red like he was nervous and also like he had had at least five shots of tequila before his appearance.
remus groaned, hiding his face in his hands. “oh my god, did he bail on me?”
sirius’ grin remained frozen on his lips but he made a questioning sound. “who?”
“the guy you set me up with!” remus said, flinging his arms around and sitting back dejectedly. “god, this is another level of pathetic. dude doesn’t even know me and already wants nothing to do with me.”
“um, there seems to have been some confusion,” sirius said.
remus grunted. “what.”
“um. you remember how i set you up with the perfect man for you? someone that i guaranteed would love and cherish you forever?” sirius said. his grin was still unmoving, nervous and a little psychotic.
remus nodded.
sirius breathed deeply through his nose and tossed remus a peace sign. “well. surprise! its me. i’m the date.”
there was a lag then, inside remus’ brain. it probably lasted only a few seconds, but it felt like it took him years and years to take in sirius’ words and his twitching facial muscles and make a connection between them all. it took him a few seconds, but once he finally processed what was happening, remus quickly picked up his glass of water and emptied it on top of sirius’ head.
“remus! what the fuck!” sirius shrieked, cubes of ice slipping down his shirt.
“fuck!” remus said, instantly picking up one corner of the table cloth to dry his best friend/soulmate/partner in crime off. “i’m sorry. i’m so sorry! my brain stopped working for a minute there.”
“uhhhh,” said another voice and remus looked up from drying up sirius’ pecs to see a confused waiter standing next to them. “is now a bad time?” he asked, a giant dish of something already in his hands.
“no, sorry, there was just some...spillage,” sirius reassured and remus walked back to his side of the booth, shamefaced. “we’ll clean it up.”
the waiter raised a cynical eyebrow and placed the dish between them. a giant plate of spaghetti and meatballs. “can i get you both anything to drink? or perhaps, you have had enough?”
remus burrowed himself deeper into his seat and said, “i’m so sorry.”
“no,” sirius said firmly, the amused glint back in his eyes. “nothing to drink.”
the waiter nodded graciously and walked away, leaving behind an awkward remus and a grinning, wet sirius.
“so. would you care to explain that reaction?” sirius asked with a giggle.
remus groaned, digging his face into his hands and deciding that he could live his entire life like that. “only if you explain why you’re my date first.”
“well, that part is simple,” sirius said and his eyes quickly turned serious, but still fond. “i love you.”
slack jawed, remus’ hands dropped back into his lap. he felt lifeless, out of his body, out of the universe. no way was this happening to him. nothing good ever happened to him.
“i’ve loved you since we were, let’s see...hmm, eleven?” sirius said and remus hiccuped. sirius laughed, light and breezy, like he wasn’t changing remus’ entire world. “i’ve loved you for so long and i finally decided that i can be brave enough to say it to you. finally grew confident enough in our friendship to know that even if you rejected me right now, i know i wouldn’t lose you as my...my person.”
“your person?” remus questioned blankly.
“my person,” sirius agreed solemnly. “my everything.”
remus hiccuped again and grabbed for sirius’ glass of water. he gulped it down greedily, feeling a little crazed. he pointed at the spaghetti. “what’s with this?”
sirius blushed harder, nervously scratching at his neck and averting his gaze. “well, if you don’t reject me today, i thought i..um, might as well fulfil my biggest dream in life, huh?”
remus looked at him in confusion until it clicked. he giggled, suddenly feeling floaty and giddy. “you wanted us to lady and tramp it if i agreed to date you?” he asked, grinning.
sirius cheesed just as wide and shrugged, shameless. “nothing wrong with trying.”
remus stared at sirius for a second and committed the sight to his memory - the wet strands of hair sticking to his face and his neck, the blush on his cheeks and the nervous grin on his lips. he decided that maybe love was work, sacrifices and compromises, but seeing a giddy, flushed sirius was worth every second of suffering and sacrifices.
“moony,” sirius said queitly. “stop monologuing and give me an answer before i piss my pants.”
remus giggled again, helpless and a fool. he leaned forward in his seat and picked up a single noodle with his fingers, putting one end in his mouth.
“let’s see if you can find the other end,” he said around the noodle and sirius’ eyes widened comically.
“fuck that, you know i have no patience,” he said as he leant across the table, grabbing remus’ face in both his hands and kissing him full on the mouth.
remus giggled into the kiss, the single, saucy noodle still stuck between their mouths, and sirius licked the extra sauce from his lips in a decidedly unsexy manner.
remus pulled back to commit this sirius to memory as well, the one with meatball sauce on the corner of his lips and water dripping down his nose.
“hey,” he said fondly. “i love you too.”

Morgan didn’t believe her mother for one moment and decided she’d have to do the hard work to find out the truth. However, with all the snooping and research Morgan had been doing, Christmas Eve seemed to jump up from behind her. If Ron, Harry and Hermione hadn’t talked about it, she wouldn’t have even realised that Christmas was only hours away. But never the less, she went to bed with a tinge of excitement jumping around in her stomach.
She woke up early the next day to find a pile of presents at the bottom of her bed. She went over to them, quickly gathering them in her arms and taking them to the common room where she could share the experience with all her friends. It didn’t take long for everyone to gather, including Hermione, Harry, Ron, Fred and George. Once everyone was down there, they all collectively tore into their presents. From Harry she’d gotten a ‘Hogwarts: A History’ (she wanted to keep up with Hermione), Ron a large collection of her favourite sweet (chocolate frogs), Hermione a new luxury quill (max accidentally snapped her old one), Mrs. Weasley a yellow jumper with a blue ‘M’ (she pulled it on right away) and Christmas cake, and from Hagrid a black jumper (it was her favourite colour).
She was meeting with her mother that night to exchange gifts, so she smiled as she looked among her presents- thanking everyone in the room who had gifted something. She then got up, about to head into her bedroom to write a thank you note to Ron’s mum, when she ran into someone. She was halfway up the stairs and fell back slightly, but the person reached forward and pulled her back.
“Oh- sorry.“ Her eyes caught the blue jumped with a yellow ‘F’ on it, her smile growing as she looked up at the ginger boy. “Hello Fred, merry Christmas.”
“Merry Christmas, Morgan.” He grinned as he took his hands away and reached into his pocket. He then handed her a box wrapped in black. Her eyes widen for a moment as they studied the box, hesitantly taking it from him. “I wanted to give it to you in person.”
She continued to study the box, both hands now firmly clasped around it. Her stomach turned as she glanced back up to Fred, only one thing on her mind. “I-I didn’t get you a gift.” Guilt flooded her, how could she have not gotten him something? She wanted to, but last year they didn’t exchange gifts. “I’m sorry.”
He took one long glance at her, his hand coming out to meet hers. Her stomach lurched now, he was going to take the gift back. How had she been so stupid? She must’ve really hurt him.
“It’s okay.” Instead of taking the box like she assumed, he just took her hand and intertwined their fingers. “I didn’t want a gift.” There was a weird tone of sincerity in his voice, making it smooth like honey and warm like a summers day.
“A-Are you sure?” She looked into his eyes now, searching for any sign he was lying. But there were none.
“Positive.”
Her eyes went back to the box, “I’m still getting you a present. It might just take a while.”
“You don’t have too,” he watched as she fiddled with the box.
“I honestly don’t mind.”
“I know you don’t.” She started to tear at the paper. “But I want too.”She then skillfully unwrapped it, meeting a plain white box. She took a silent breath, before flicking the lid up. Her heart instantly melted as she saw it, a gentle blush rising to her cheeks. “Wow,” she breathed out. Inside was a gold necklace, a charm shaped like the golden snitch hanging off it. She’d loved quidditch ever since her mother introduced it, but unlike Harry, she didn’t have the natural skills to be a chaser. “Thank you, Fred.”
Their hands were still somehow intertwined, so she used it as a tool to pull him into her. She then wrapped her arms around his waist, stuffing her face into his chest. “I love it.” She’d said, her voice muffled by the fabric of his bright jumper. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her as close as possible. “It’s alright, love.”
Her heart jumped at the pet name, snuggling further into him. They stayed like that for a while, before someone shouted from downstairs.
“Fred, where are you?” They instantly jumped apart, giving each other sheepish smiles, before heading in opposite directions.
Morgan finally went to her room, a feeling of complete and utter bliss filling her. She placed the white box on the end of her bed, reaching around her neck to unclasp the necklace she was currently wearing. She then put the one Fred gifted her on, hand embracing the snitch, as she closed her eyes and let out a deep exhale. When she opened them again, she saw another box on the end of her bed. It wasn’t wrapped but Morgan was sure she hadn’t seen it before.
Her curiosity getting the better of her, she let go of the necklace and approached the mystery item. Her hand instantly went to her wand, using it as a tool to see if the box would strike back. When it didn’t she reached forward and flicked the lid open. A note slipped out and onto her bed, but her attention was on the contents of the box.Inside sat a silver bracelet, a charm of silver dog and another of a paw hanged from it. She then reached for the letter, flipping it open and re-reading it a few times.
Merry Christmas
Thank you for always taking care of me,
Max.
Could it be possible? How could Max, a large black dog, get into her bedroom without being seen? How did he write the note? When did it even get in here? How had he gotten his hands on a bracelet? Never mind an expensive looking one like this?
Her mind ran a million mile a minute, however, she still reached over and put the bracelet on. He would certainly be getting a visit tonight. After she wrote a letter to Mrs. Weasley and sent it off with Hedwig (with Harrys permission, of course), she made her way back down to the common room. Everyone was still in there, Fred and George in the corner talking while Harry and Ron played exploding snap and Hermione watched. She went and joined the threesome, taking a seat beside Harry.
“Nice necklace, Morgan, who gave it to you?” Harry asked after he stated ‘checkmate.’
Fred and Morgan’s eyes met across the room and some-how she knew not to blurt it out. “That’s for me to know and you to not.”
Ron rolled his eyes, before he caught a glimpse at her wrist. “What about that?”
Another gentle blush rose to Morgan’s cheeks, but she looked down to try and cover it up. “Oh, it’s from my friend Max.
”Morgan felt Fred’s glance snap to her and could just tell his eyebrows were furrowed. In fact, she’s pretty sure everyone looked at her.
“Who?”
“My friend…” She finally looked up, seeing as everyone stared at her. “Max,” it came out more like a question.
“Max?” Ron tilted his head, “we don’t know anyone named Max.”
“Yeah, that’s why he’s my-“ She pointed at herself, “friend.”
She spared a peek at Fred and George. One had wide eyes and a slightly tilted head while the other had red brushing up his neck, strained smile and angry, squinted eyes. Guilt flooded her again, Fred was probably thinking that she was seeing someone else. But how would she explain to him that Max was a dog that could read and write?
“I-Uh, I’m going to go down to the hall quickly.” She kept flicking her glaze at Fred, trying to tell him to come with her. But when she stood up, he merely crossed his arms and pouted, his eyes avoiding her. Just as she walked past them and towards the door, she saw George shove his brother and them whisper something inn his ear. Fred looked at him with furrowed eyebrows, but George simply got up and went over to the other three. “Fancy a game of exploding snap, Hermione?”
Morgan was just about to close the Fat Ladies door behind her when she saw Fred stand up from his seat, they made brief eye contact and then he walked in the opposite direction. She expelled a big breath and then closed the door. The Fat Lady saw her face and frowned. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” she lied. “Thank you.”
She then went down the hallway and towards the great hall, she’d always found it calming in there. Her hand went to reach for the door handle to push the doors open, when someone else’s hand landed on her shoulder. She jumped a bit, before turning around to face the stranger and was pleasantly surprised to see ginger hair. However, it wasn’t the ginger she wanted to see.“Hello, George.” She greeted him, shining a smile.
He let out a breathy laugh. “Wow, you really can tell us apart.”
“Of course, I can.”
George shook his head and laughed a little, before going a bit more serious. “Look, Fred really likes you and finding out about this Max guy has really shook him up. I know it’s a bit off character for me, but if you could just explain who Max is to me, I might be able to sort something out.”
“Thank you,” she brought her arms to the sides of her arms, rubbing them through her jumper. “Honestly, I don’t know who Max is. I only knew him as a dog that I give food to and sit with.” She shrugged, “but I’m starting to think he may be an Animagus. I found this,” she pointed at her bracelet, “in my room with a note. He said, ‘thanks for always taking care of me.’ But I’ve never actually seen him in human form before.”
George nodded, “so, he must be a part of Gryffindor.”
“I should think so, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to drop it off in my room.”
Morgan then cleared a few more things up for George. Finally, when they were in a mutual understanding George said goodbye. “I’ll go talk to Fred.” And then he left her in the hallway, heading back to the common room.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8
xx
Sirius looked up to Peter. “What do you mean you knew?” he asked, standing up from his bed.
“I knew where she was all the time. I found Jacks letter in the owlery and read it. “ said Peter calmly, walking over to his desk, opening the drawer and pulling out a bag of chips.
“What!?” raged Sirius, staring at Peter and watching him eat his chips.
“What did it say?” asked James curiously, standing up and walking next to Sirius. He felt him tense up, so he rather stepped in front of him just in case if he decides to do someting stupid.
“Something about how he misses her already in school and how she should should come back with Zoey. Something about she can come stay with him and that his dad is okay with it. You know...the usual.” answered Peter, sitting on his chair with his feet on the desk.
“The usual? THE USUAL! YOU FOUND A LETTER AND YOU DIDN’T SHOW IT TO ME!! UNBELIAVABLE!!” fumed Sirius and started pacing around the room. He bent down on his bed and clenched the sheets in his fists.
His best friend was watching him suffer all this time, knowing where she was, knowing everything.. He tried to calm down, he really did. Peter was different from James and Remus. He was more affected by words and he tried not to say something he’ll regret and drive Peter away just like he did with (y/n).
But why couldn’t he calm down? He tried to take deep breaths in, which usually helped him. But there was a storm growing stronger inside of him and he just couldn’t calm down. He grabbed the the pillow and threw it to his night stand, breaking all the framed photos.
“Sirius calm down.” said Remus, walking over to  him and wrapping his arms  around Sirius’ shoulders.
“Calm down? CALM DOWN! WHAT DO YOU MEAN CALM DOWN. THIS RAT KNEW WHERE SHE WAS THIS WHOLE TIME AND HE DIDN’T CARE TO MENTION IT!” he continued to yell, trying to break from his grip. “ You don’t get it! You don’t understand. That stupid piece of shit knew! HE KNEW!!”
“ Sirius, calm the fuck down!” barked James, snapping Sirius from his rage and calming him down. “ I know you’re furious at Peter right now, but yelling at him won’t get you nowhere. I’m angry at him too, okay. Her leaving was just as much as my fault as it was yours, so can you just calm the fuck down.”
Sirius calmed down and nodded at his brother. Remus carefully unwrapped his arms from Sirius and slowly backed away.
Lifting his hand to keep safe distance between Sirius and Peter, James turned to Peter and looked at his frightned eyes. “Peter do you have the letter at least?”
“I wish. His owl attacked me and torn the letter apart.” he replied.
Everybody looked at Sirius, seeing his face getting angrier. He walked over to his nightstand, picked up his pillow and threw himself face-down on the bed. “UGGH!!” he groaned into the pillow.
---
Walking in the Potions class you had with the Slytherins, with Jack right beside you, you  suddenly stopped. Jack furrowed his eyebrows and looked at you worriedly. “What’s wrong?”
You took a deep breath in, smelling the sweat and the mixed potion ingridients in the class. “Merlin have I missed this school and the smell of depression.” you smiled at him and walked  to your desk.
“You are unbelievable you know that.” smiled Jack, shaking his head and sitting next to you. “Seriously. You would think you would get used to the smell of sweat and pearl dust in here but it’s like fresh air doesn’t exist in here. Why don’t they just invent a spell for it.”
The both of you were laughing before Slytherins entered the room. One after another  walked in and finally your favorite Slytherin entered the room. He changed. His pace was quick, his posture upright and his black eyes set especially on the big bronze couldron, that sat on his desk. A sly smirk apperead on the corner of his  lips as he continued to stare at the ingridients, set in front of him.
You chuckled at the notice of his obssession and love for Potions. He always had a gift for this class. He always knew how to cut something appropriately, how much of the ingridients needed to be thrown into the potion or how much time it needs the potion to cool down. His eyes would get a tiny sparkle whenever he finished it, and you were the only one who noticed this so far.
You slowly sneaked around the table and walked behind him. “ I see you are already planning the wedding.” you whispered in his ear, making him jump from his seat and turn around.
Shockingly, his eyes scanned you from head to toe. “(y/n)!?!”
“Are you going to stare at me or are you going to give me a hug?” you chuckled.
He looked  at his calssmates, who were staring at him and waiting for his reaction.“ It’s good to see you.” he said coldly, fixing his posture and turning his back at you.
“Wow.” you scoffed and crossed your arms. “Aren’t you just a friend and a half.” you said glowering at him.
Here you were, hoping to get a happy reaction from him. Standing like a complete idiot, hoping he will turn around and give you a hug and tell you how much he has missed you. How much he has waited for you and tell you what has happened during this time you were gone. But he didn’t. He was just sitting right in front of you, showing you his back.
“Fine. I guess we are strangers then.” you added before walking away.
What you didn’t know was, that behind all that poker face Severus was showing you, he was happy. Of course he was happy to see you well and alive. But during the time, where you werent’t around, a lot of things happened. Things changed. He didn’t have anyone to talk to anymore. He had noone. He wanted to give you the biggest hug. He wanted to let you know how much he has missed you and your angry outbursts. Your smile, your laugh, your funny dance moves, all of it. But he was part of something completly different now, something darker. He was a part of a group, which he was not proud of and he didn’t want to drag you along into the darkness with him.
---
After the class was over, the 6th years had Potions. You walked out of class with Jack, laughing to his blue painted face. “I told you two pinches of pearl dust not six.” you laughed.
“You said six and you know it. You just wanted to see what would happen if I put too much of it.” he laughed along.
It was true, you did tell him six, only to see what would happen.
And there he was. Black hair, grey-green eyes and a big smile on his face. Seeing you standing there, laughing and making fun of Jack he noticed how much he has missed you. “If it isn’t (y/n) (y/l/n). Our famous Firebreather.” he chuckled.
You looked over to the source of his voice and a big smile appeared on your lips. “ If it isn’t the one and only, Regulus Black.” you chortled and walked over.
“Indeed it is.” he beamed and opened his arms.
You walked over and gave him a big hug. It wasn’t as big as Jack’s but it was definetly one of those hugs, where you just know he has missed you. His grip was tight, his head in your neck, breathing in your parfume and hands intertwined with your hair. After the two of you broke apart, Jack came over and smiled at Regulus.
“Nice to see you Young Black.” Jack simpered and took Regulus’ hand.
“You two are friends?” you asked shockingly.
“Oh yeah. Best friends for life. Even have matching bracelets.” joked Regulus in a sarcastic tone.
“You can just say, an enemy of my enemy is my friend.” smiled Jack and mysteriously left the scene.
What was that smile? you wondered. It felt like you saw it somewhere but couldn’t put it excatly where.
---
Weeks have passed since you came back and the bruises were almost completly gone. The scar on your left eyebrow was still there though and will probably stay there. Honestly you didn’t want for it to disappear. It was some sort of reminder, not of the horrible things that have happened in your life, but it was a reminder of how strong you really are. You are not a weak person, you are far from that.
As you were sitting with Jack you got the feeling like someone was watching you. Knowing who this someone is you looked over to him and saw him looking at you.
What Jack told you about what happened to him after you left. How he couldn’t come to classes for 2 weeks or how everybody was always talking about him. Ugly stuff, that were cirling around the school and his reputation falling to the rock bottom. You felt terrible after hearing that, but most importatntly you felt guilty you made him go through all of that. Of course what Jack didn’t know was how Sirius felt through that time. Nobody ever knew, but you had a feeling you did.
It was like all the staring at eachother, you felt like he was trying to speak to you without opening his mouth. You sent Sirius a light smile and waved with your hand. His eyes went wide and were completly shocked from your action. It was like he was staring at you, but didn’t know you were staring back. And now that you noticed him, he felt a bit embarassed.
Jack, who was still babbling about something, noticed that you weren’t listening. He nudged you in the ribbs making your gaze break from Sirius. You looked over to Jack, who furrowed his eyebrows, expecting you to answer him. “I need to go. But I swear we’ll talk later.” you reasured him and left the table.
At the Gryffindor table, the three Marauders were making fun of their fourth one. “Seriously Pads, the staring is way to obvious. It’s like you want to eye fuck her.” teased James.
“You really suck at making me feel better, you know that, right?.” retorded Sirius and glanced over to your seat again. But you weren’t there. He grabbed Remus by the arm and started panicking. “Wait where is she?! She was right there! See what you did!”
“You should be thanking us. The staring was way too creepy. You couldn’t tell if you wanted to kill her or shag her.” said Remus and tried to free his arm out of Sirius’ grip.
“Or both.” added Peter, making everybody laugh.
“Good one Wormy.” laughed James, without knowing you were standing right behind him. Everybody stopped laughing as soon as they saw you coming towards them, especially Sirius who had his eyes set on you this whole time. Every single one of them were sending James warning looks but James was just laughing. “I mean, you are Sirius Black, I think you can charm your way in and she’ll probably forgive you soon after the two of you had-”
“James!” hissed Remus, shutting him up and glancing up to you.
His smile immediatly dropped. “She’s right behind me, isn’t she?” he gulped, afraid to turn around.
“I’d rather shut up if I were you, Potter. You never know when my fist will find its way back to your face.” you grinned making the hair on the back of his neck stand up.
“Shutting up now.” said James and putting a spoonful of carrot soup in his mouth.
You looked up to Sirius, hoping th two of you could talk in private. “Sirius...” you started glumly, struggling with the words.
What were you about to say? You hate him? How horrible he is? How he should appologise for the way he treated you. How he should go on his knees and beg for your forgivnes the minute you stepped into the Great Hall two weeks ago. These kind of thoughts were running around his head. “No.” he muttered to himself. “I can’t do this.” he said, gettting up and storming out of the Great Hall.
---
“Lumos.” you whispered as you walked into the dark library. “I love this spell.” you smiled and continued to search the sections. You walked past the last section, missing the curled up body in the dark corner. You stopped and walked backwards, this time noticing him, sitting on the ground with his head on his knees.
“How did you find me?” he said quetly, not moving his head from his knees.
“It’s where you go when you’re sad. “ you said quietly, approaching him slowly.  “You want to talk about it.” you continued and knelt down to him.
He lifted his head and let out a chuckle. He looked at you with tears in his eyes and a smile you couldn’t figure out yet. “ After everything I’ve done to you...here you are..”
You sat on your knees and lifted his head gently. He looked away, not wanting to look you directly in your eyes. “Sirius. I know you are blaming yourself for what I did. It’s not your fault Sirius.” you said with a soft and quiet voice.
There was this sentence again. It’s not your fault. He keeps hearing it and he always has to say the same thing back. “It is my fault. It’s my fault you left. I told you to ... I told you to leave- I -I told you to go back there and- and you did. And you came back all bruised and hurt and I did that. Me!”
You brushed the falling tears from his cheeks and forced him to look at you. “Sirius.” you smiled and cupped his cheeks. “It’s not your fault because it was my choice to leave. I’m just the biggest drama queen there is and I guess I over-reacted a bit. You didn’t force me to leave. It was my choice. A stupid one I know, but it was mine. I don’t want you to feel guilty for what I did.”
A light smile appeared on his lips and a big rock rolled off his chest.. “You over-reacted a bit?” he chuckled.
“Oh shut up. You are even a bigger drama queen than me.” you smiled and let go of him.
He put his hand on your cheek and brushed his thumb against your scar. His eyes glanced at yours and his smile disappeared again. “But I’m the reason you have this.”
“I swear to God if you say another word that this is your fault I’m going to drop you off the Ravenclaw tower.” you scolded and rolled your eyes. But as much as he tried to smile, you noticed the seriousness in his eyes. “If it makes you feel any better I got this bruise when I walked in a tree.” you said and showed him a tiny bruise on your right arm. “It really sucked.” you continued looking at it and making him laugh again.
How on earth could only YOU make him feel better? he thought to himself as he obsereved your every feature. That smile of yours that seemed to make him feel lighter and those eyes that made him calm down. You were the only person he would want to talk to right now, hell you were the only person he ever talked his biggest problems to. And you listened, making him feel better every single time. You were funny and smart. Your laugh was something special, he loved to hear that funny laugh of yours. Or your hair... your gorgeous (y/h/c) hair, which reflected the light coming from your wand. Merlin you were stunning.
“Hey.” your voice spoke mischiviously, breaking him from his thoughts. “How about we go to the kitchen. I think it’s time for that 2nd round. “ you smiled and took his hand.
You pulled him up and started dragging him behind you. “Oh you think you’ll win again huh?” he smiled, walking behind you. “Well I’ve been training andprepare to lose.”
“Oh I might be a little bit rusty but that won’t stop me from beating your sorry arse.” you smiled and pulled him out of the library.
----
“I’m out!” yelled Jack, throwing the letter at his face.
“Boy. You’re out when I tell you you’re out.” said Collin, crumbling the letter and throwing it in the fire. He stepped closer to Jack.
“I can’t keep lying to her Collin. She’s my best friend.” cried Jack.
‘Gray, my dear brother. We’re family and family sticks together. “ said Collin, putting his hand on the back of his neck and pulling him closer. “You, me and little Zoey. Don’t let her break us appart... not now.” he finished and gave his brother a hug. “Brothers.”
“Brothers.”
If you want to make the ending more dramatic listen to this . Just a thought...because I’m a drama queen.

GenderSwap: Chapter Nine
Word count: 1526
The two marauders on their way to go get Carter come into a little trouble, but before that Sirius drags Peter through the dark corridors. Not wanting to get caught they both very steadily sneak their way around the corridors doing this too many times before. The two boys stop when they hear the shuffling of Argus Filch. Sirius turns to Peter who then holds his finger to his pink lips silencing him. Peter nods walking backwards a bit, the poor small boy didn't that there was a column in the way, so he lets out a small yelp and almost instantaneously covers his mouth with his hands. Sirius throws his friend a glare.
"Who's there?" Mr. Filch calls. Peter looks panicked while Sirius remains calm; he signals his friends to very slowly walk backwards. Doing what he's told Peter walks backwards. Knowing where to go, he runs quietly to the corner where it always seems to always be dark, day or night. The curly haired boy follows, his heart beating out of his chest while doing so. They both move their bodies as far as they can against the cold stone wall. "Students out of bed," Mr. Filch mumbles walking right past the corner not noticing the two boys who were holding their breaths. Simultaneously they let out a heavy breath once Mr.Filch can't be heard.
"Next time, watch where you're going." Sirius whisper yells. "I don't feel like spending my time in detention this year."
"So-Sorry" Peter stutters. Ignoring the blonde boy Sirius continues his way to the Ravenclaw common room, only knowing where it is because Carter told him. They reach the bottom of the spiral staircase on the west side of Hogwarts. "We have to walk up all of those stairs?" Peter whispers.
"Unfortunately." They both set their journey to the fifth floor to find their two favorite twins and Carter of course. Once on the fifth floor at the wooden door, a eagle knocker speaks once they are a couple of feet in front of it.
"You will always find me in the past. I can be created in the present, but the future will never taint me. What am I?" the knocker speaks in a low mysterious voice.
"WE HAVE TO SOLVE A RIDDLE," Peter exclaims. Nodding Sirius thinks, saying the riddle over and over in his head until Peter speaks again, "I've got it! History." Giving Peter a surprised look Sirius was going to say something thinking it was wrong until the door swings open revealing a beautiful common room with the colors blue and bronze scattered so carefully in the right places. Although it was late on a Sunday night the common room still seemed more full than it should be. No one in the room questioned them as they were caught up into their own business to notice the two girls standing there.
In their luck they see two Ravenclaw twins that they recognized; they're sitting on the couch. Finn was reading a book, while Jack sat there mindlessly throwing things in the fire that made it change a different color every time. Peter walks up to them excited because he hasn't seen them in while, actually since they got turned into girls which was a month and a half ago, still Peter seemed to forget that he had long flowing blonde hair now. So when he walked up to them to greet them he has never felt so hurt when they looked confused. "I'm sorry, but who are you?" Finn questions suspiciously as he stares at Peter. Realizing what he has just done Peter turns to Sirius who was just as surprised as he is, not realizing either that twins didn't know what happened to them.
"Penelope, Siryna?" a voice calls. The two 'girls' turn to the voice revealing that it was it was Carter. "What are you doing here, did something happen?" the golden eyed boy walks toward them surprised yet happy that they were there.
Quickly thinking of something Sirius speaks up, "To look for you of course."
 "Yeah," Peter laughs nervously.
"Oh, what did you need?" Carter smiles.
"We were wondering if you wanted to come back to the common room with us, Rezza is a bit sad," Sirius explains, they were always planning to come get Carter as well, but they saw the twins and got excited so they technically they weren't lying.
"Oh no, what happened?" Carter shows genuine concern for the 'girls' after the incident with the three boys, he feels protective over them for some reason, not really knowing why.
In his time of knowing them he's found out that they're actually pretty rambunctious. Carter was at first surprised at this, they seemed so calm at first, he was wrong. He sat with them at dinner sometimes when they first met. Now he sits with them every night with his brother and Lucas, but at first it was very quiet only having small conversations, then 'Jaime' ate 'Reza's chocolate frog, let's just summarize that it was the opposite of quiet at their table. 'Rezza' sat there arguing with 'Jamie' for what seemed like hours. If he was being completely honest he was shocked at the reaction that 'she' had. Ever since then he didn't see them as the sweet quiet 'girls' anymore, they were quite loud in his opinion, nonetheless he would never change who they are.
"She just doesn't feel that great, if you can't that's okay, but she would love it if you came," Peter says.
"Oh yeah of course I would, also how rude of me, this is Jackson and Finnegan," Carter says pointing to the Harries twins individually.
"Call me Jack."
"Just Finn please, Finnegan makes me sound like a old man."
"Nice to meet you," Peter says awkwardly because he already knows the twins, "Names Penelope."
"Siyrna."
"Nice to meet you!" the twins say in unison standing up to greet them properly shaking both of the girls hands. There was something familiar about them, but they couldn't quite put their fingers on it.
"You guys can come, if you'd like," Peter says wanting them to come because they're one of the reason that they came to the common room in the first place and they knew Remus would love it.
The twins look at each other taken a little by surprise because they really didn't know them, yet something felt so familiar, so a little hesitantly Finn spoke up, "Sure."
"Awesome, are you coming Carter?" Sirius asks.
"Of course," Carter grins, "Let me just say bye to my friends." Sirius is really ecstatic that his plan is working because he wants Remus to be surrounded by his good friends, to see him happy because for his Moon he'd do anything. Of course he would also bend over backwards for his other best friends, but with Remus its different, although he quite can't put it into words why.
Ignoring his thoughts he speaks up, "What was it you were reading Finn?"
"It's called Quidditch Through the Ages, quite interesting if you ask me, except Jack doesn't think so."
"I just couldn't find any interest in it, IS THAT SUCH A BAD THING."
"In my opinion it is very well written and interesting."
"Does it look like I care about your opinion Finnegan?" Jack sasses his brother.
Peter giggles, while Finn starts fake crying, "Fine since you don't care about MY OPINION, I guess you wouldn't care about the OPINION I had on the potions homework." Finn stands up going to the doorway.
"OH BROTHER WAIT I DIDN'T MEAN IT!" Jack stands up and chases his brother. Peter and Sirius are left there laughing no one else around them knowing what was going on they shake their head at the two cackling girls.
Carter walks back to the girls, "What just happened?"
"Jack... offended... Finn... Now Finn won't give Jack his homework," Sirius says in between laughs.
Carter chuckles, "That sounds about accurate, let's go." The two 'girls' nod clutching their stomachs. Peter keeps on laughing not really knowing why it was so funny, maybe it's because he hasn't seen them in a while, or it was that it was just plain funny. Either way he kept laughing until he reached the twins. He tried really hard to hold his laugh, but it didn't work and he let out a really loud squeal. All of the people in the Ravenclaw common room turn their heads towards the noise. When Peter notices he turns the bright red.
"Can we leave?" he says wanting to go because he hates being the center of attention. The five boys make their way out of the common room, feeling bad for Peter. If there was one thing that the poor boy hated most was everyone looking at him, it felt as if their stares were burning holes into his skin.
A little distraught, Peter asks Carter a question "Where is Lucas and Connor?"
"Probably in the Hufflepuff common per usual."
"Oh, okay."
"Yep, shall we go." The boys/girls nod their heads then make their way to the Gryffindor common room.

A Friend Ch. 3
Remus Lupin was sitting at his House table eating has Steak and Potatoes, while reading Ivanhoe. He was on chapter three when he saw his Brothers-in-arms walk in a little bit miffed. Remus got up after saving his place in the novel and walked over to them.
"Where is Merlin's Beard have you guys been?" Remus asked his friends, "You three missed the Care of Magical Creatures O.W.L! Professor Kettleburn will probably fail you three if you don't plead for a new test date!"
"Yeah, don't remind us Moony," James told his friend.
"What happened to you guys anyway?"
Sirius stepped forward, "We got jinxed and hexed by some Hufflepuff. Who, get this actually HELPED Snivellus!"
Remus sighed. "Well I've been telling you guys for years now. That one day either Severus or someone else would stand up and teach you a lesson. "
"Well we never thought it would happen!" Sirius snapped at Remus.
"Hey don't get snippy with me!" Remus barked back at Sirius, "I'm not the one who picked a fight and probably failed their Care of Magical Creatures O.W.L!"
Sirius raised his hands, "Alright Moony, Peace!"
Peter intervened trying to keep the peace. "Listen, Moony we need your help. We need you to identify the guy, we know what he looks like but we don't know who he is. So, will you help us?"
Remus looked at his friends. "You point him out and I'll identify him. I'm not getting involves with your petty vendetta."
Remus walked back to his spot with James, Sirius, and Peter following him.
"Oh Moony!" James laughed, "You're no fun anymore!"
"Is that him?" Remus asked as another Hufflepuff walked in.
Peter looked up from his Beef Stroganoff. "No, he had brown hair that went to his neck."
Remus kept looking at the door, he had finished his steak and was probably not going to get back to reading Ivanhoe anytime soon.
"Is that him?"
James looked up. "I can't tell, Padfoot?"
Sirius stood up, "NO, he wasn't that fat! That's that one reject...Clearwater."
"Okay, listen guys I don't think he's gonna show."
"Oh, no...He'll show." Sirius growled.
"How, do you know?"
Sirius was quiet. "Just keep your eyes open!"
Peter had an idea, "Hey, that Hufflepuff went away with Snape and Evans. Maybe he'll walk in with them."
"Great thinking, Wormtail! You're Two for Two!"
Peter smiled, it was nice to be getting recognition for once.
So, Remus kept an eye out for Severus, and Lily seeing if the mysterious Hufflepuff would show up with them.
Then, they appeared. Severus, and Lily walked in with a Hufflepuff. Brown hair down to his neck, regular build, and he was with Severus and Lily. The Hufflepuff turned around to go sit at his House Table. Remus blanched, he prayed that he was wrong and his friends didn't pick a fight with this Hufflepuff.
"Okay, I hope i'm wrong, but is that him?" Remus asked his friends.
Peter, James and Sirius looked to see the culprit walk casually down to his seat.
"Yes that's him!" Peter exclaimed.
"There's the bastard!" Sirius growled.
"Awesome. So, who is he Moony?" James asked his friend.
Remus looked up at his friends.
"Please, for love of Merlin. Don't tell me you got into a fight with Samual Yalarad."
"THAT"S SAM YALARAD?" Peter screamed in terror.
Sirius and James clamped his mouth and sat as low as they could in their seats so that Sam wouldn't see who called out his name.
James and Sirius let go of Peter's mouth.
"Jeezus, Wormtail! You almost gave us away!" James scolded his friend.
"Yeah, Wormy what's the matter with you?" Sirius added.
'Well it was fun while it lasted.' Thought Peter.
Sirius started the conversation back up.
"So, who is that Yala-whatever his name is?" Sirius asked his Marauder compatriots.
"Padfoot," Remus started. "Sam Yalarad is the son of Silas Yalarad!"
Sirius had a blank stare on his face. "Moony I get you are trying to ease me into an epiphany, but can you just tell me?" Sirius bluntly asked.
"Samual is the son of "Seven Wand" Silas!" James interjected.
Sirius' eyes widened. "What? Sam-Mule is related to one of the greatest Aurors to ever live!"
"Yeah, that's what I'm saying!"
The group got quiet. Then James broke the silence.
"Alright, now that we know our culprit. Let's plan a swift and embarrassing payback!"
Remus blanched. "Well keep me informed on your vendetta."
His friends were dumbstruck.
"Moony," Sirius started. "Aren't you going to join us?"
"No thanks, this is your problem. You deal with it!" Remus retorted as he went back to Ivanhoe.
"Prongs is right, you're no fun anymore Moony!"
Sam Yalaread walked out of his Herbology O.W.L with the upmost confidence that he got an 'O' on it.
The studying he did with Severus and Lily really paid off. He was on his way to the Library to meet up with Severus and Lily to see how they did on their O.W.L's. As he was walking from the classroom he noticed out of the corner of his eye that he was being followed.
And as he turned the corner, he saw that Sirius Black was following him, and he didn't seem too happy.
Sam quickly made his way to the Library. If he made it the Library he'd be under the safe, but fierce gaze of Madam Pince.
As he ascended the staircase, he saw Pettigrew outside the entrance of the sixth floor.
And so he ascended up to the Seventh floor. Gryffindor Country. No Man's Land. Sam was on his own.
Pettigrew joined Sirius and started slowly chasing after Sam, as not to attract attention to their misdeeds.
Sam was in the heart of the Seventh floor, and when he turned a corner... There was James Potter with his wand out. Ready to hex Sam into Oblivion.
Luckily, there was an empty classroom to the left and Sam dove in, narrowly missing a flurry of stinging hexes.
Sam then instinctively locked the door, and used his magic to stack desks in order to keep the Marauders out.
"Okay, Sam-Mule." Shouted James Potter, "Come out and we promise to make this quick!"
"Really you think that's going to get me to open this door? And I'll have you know that my name is pronounced, Sam-ual!"
"Whatever you git!" Yelled Sirius. "You've thrown in your hat with Snivellus, and now you're going to pay for it!"
Sam really didn't want to fight those idiots, but he knew it was coming. He just didn't know it was going to be this soon.
Sam looked out the window, sure enough, it was a long drop to the bottom.
Sam had little time to weigh his options as the Marauders forced their way inside.
James, Peter and one P.O'd Sirius were mad for vengeance. Sam stood his ground, with his wand at the ready.
"Ready for your punishment, Sam-Mule?"
"It's Sam-ual, Potter." Sam scoffed, "Seriously. I mean did your father drop you on your head when you little or something?"
If James wasn't angry before, he was now. All three Marauders had their wands out by now.
"Hex him boys!"
Sam readied himself and retaliated.
Severus and Lily were in the Library, waiting for their new acquaintance, Sam Yalarad.
Severus was sitting at a table reading a Potions Theory book, while Lily was pacing back and forth.
"Lily, with your pacing, you'd probably make a permanent impression on the floor, and Madam Pince wouldn't take that too kindly, now wouldn't she?" Severus without looking up from his book.
Lily looked over at Severus.
"I mean Lily, we just met him yesterday, and besides if he doesn't come it's not the end of the world. He probably is spending time with his other friends, y'know."
"Well," Lily started. "I'm just wondering if he hadn't incurred the wrath of the local nuisances."
Severus sighed, "I'm sure he can take care of himself."
"I'm not so sure."
Just then the man of the hour came in.
"Speak of the devil." Severus put down his book. "Where have you been?"
"How did you do on your Herbology Exam?"
"Oh uh, first I was busy," Sam explained. "Secondly, I think I passed my O.W.L with ease!"
"Well that's great!"
"Busy with what?"
Sam smiled. "Well that's the second thing I wanted to talk to you about, in fact I think I should show you."
So, Sam had Severus and Lily follow him to the deserted classroom on the seventh floor.
What was inside shocked Severus and Lily.
James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew were caught in the Sisto Motus Charm.
"...I don't know what to say." Severus choked out, he was too stunned to say anything.
"Well don't. I mean these guys came at me trying to hex me, so I was just trying to defend myself."
"Well let's leave them be, c'mon Severus." Lily said.
Sam turned around to see Severus and Lily leaving.
"HEY!"
Severus and Lily turned back around.
"Yes?" Severus asked.
Sam walked in front of them, blocking their way from the door.
"Haven't you guys been saying how, these three have made the past five years of your life here at Hogwarts miserable?"
"Yeah." Severus replied, realizing the fact.
"Well, now they are here! Right in front of you! Ready to be messed with and you are going to walk away?"
"Well, what would you have us do?" Lily asked Sam.
Sam gave a great, big, smile.
"Lily," directed Sam. "Go up to your room and get some make-up and some dresses that might fit these three!"
"What I don't understand, why do I need..." Lily understood what Sam was going with, and grinned. "Oh, Sam you are Bad! I'll be right back!"
Lily ran out to get the supplies.
Sam looked at Severus.
"What are we going to do?"
"Well Severus. We have the hard job. We need to get these three down to their skivvies."
Severus blanched. Undressing the Marauders wasn't on his list of things to do.
"Do we have to?"
"Well we could let Lily do it."
Severus looked at Sam in silence.
"I'll start with Black, you get Potter and we'll both do Pettigrew, is that Ok Samual?"
Sam smiled. "Perfect."
Severus slowly undid Sirius' pants as he looked away.
"Y'know."
Severus looked over to Sam.
"Friends call me Sam."
Severus looked over at Sam and smiled.
"Friends call me Sev."
Now it was Sam's turn to smile.
The two friends went back to their Dirty Job.
Lily had shrunk the Make-up and the dresses down and shoved them into her pocket.
She hurried up to the classroom. When she opened the door she saw Severus and Sam strip Pettigrew to his skivvies.
Severus blanched, and Sam was frozen.
"Lily this isn't what it looks like." Severus started to explain.
"What are you talking about Sev? This is exactly what it looks like." Sam replied.
Severus gave Sam the Stink Eye.
The three started their little makeover party for their Marauder 'friends'.
Lily looked at her dresses. "What do you think, Sev?"
Severus looked at her options.
"Green. Lily. Dress them all in green." Severus smiled.
"Perfect!" Lily transfigured all the dresses to be green. "Let the 'Golden' Gryffindor boys be Slytherins for today!"
Samual then turned toward Severus. "Be a pal and please pass me the lipstick."
"Red or Blue?" Severus asked.
Sam looked at Sirius caught in Sisto Motus.
"Definitely Red."
"Okay guys. Ready? One, two THREE!"
Sam, Severus and Lily groaned as they struggled to put a dress on Peter.
"Oughgh. What do they feed this guy?" Sam yelled.
"Everything and anything!" Severus replied.
Lily was taking the final incriminating picture with her camera.
"Okay, now let's see these buffoons try and mess with us." Lily exclaimed.
"I don't think this will stop them." Severus begrudgingly said.
"Maybe, but I have an idea, that will have them thinking twice before they mess with us." Sam said. "How long until Lunch?"
Lily looked at the clock. "About thirty minutes.'
"Okay we need to act fast."
James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew awoke all at once to see a group of their classmates laughing. At them.
"What, what? What happened?" Peter stuttered out.
"Sonovabitch! We were hexed by Sam-Mule!" James swore.
"I'm gonna wring his neck! I swear it!" Sirius proclaimed
James then noticed his classmates laughing.
"What's so funny?"
Frank Longbottom stopped laughing long enough to answer.
"Well Potter. We're laughing at you and your friend's choice in clothing! BWAHAHAH!"
"What are you..." James looked down at his attire. "DEAR MERLIN!" James then tried to cover himself.
Sirius and Peter then noticed their womanly attire and tried to cover themselves to no avail.
"Hey Potter!"
James looked up to see Samual, Severus, and Lily walk up.
"YOU!"
"Me. You'd better get changed Potter. Wouldn't want McGonagall to turn red with Fury to see you three dressed like that!"
James, Peter, and Sirius bolted to their dormitory.
"YOU'RE GOING TO YOURS YALARAD!" Sirius yelled as he was going towards the staircase.
"I'm shaking in my boots, Black!"
Sam turned to Lily and Severus. They were laughing. Everyone was laughing.
Payback was grand.
