Saw your TMA post in the aro tag and it's genuinely so real. I'm a loveless aro and I hate how love is constantky equated with humanity and morality - idk how people get through a series like TMA where it's shown that fear is unrelenting regardless of if you've loved and lost or not [and, in my own opinion/take, where the most important thing is NOT "the power of love", it's the power of perserverance and "doing it scared" for a lack of a better term] and come away with "actually love was the MVP". It's about self determination. It's about reclaiming agency in the face of something infinitely more powerful. It's about choice and lack thereof. Reducing it to a love story is one of the most teeth-grindingly frustrating fanon takes because it doean't even have the benefit of being interesting - it flattens the story.

Long story short, I'm considering a loveless aroace Jon headcanon to reclaim him from fandom treatment for the loveless at this point. Apologies for the rant in your inbox, you just sparked a fire I forgot burned in me [in a positive way, I think it's important to discuss].

oh no don’t worry about it! I’m also a loveless aro (🤝) and Man does it get frustrating here lmao. I think a big part of the reason why I personally disliked seasons 4 and 5 was that the show itself started veering towards a more love-story-y plot when I honestly did not care about it in the slightest. Plus since I’ve joined the fanbase like 90% of all content I see is just sappy romantic shit (ie why are there so many like. safehouse fics for example) and you constantly see statements like “oh tma is a story about love 🥰” “tma is an office romance” and it’s just like. did we listen to the same podcast jfc
