I haven't played overwatch in like, 2 weeks--which I know doesn't sound like a lot, and to be honest I have been dropping off more and more, but I was still getting the battlepass out of dumb habit and then hammering my way through it at the last minute because hey, I spent ten bucks on it, might as well get those cosmetics. But I haven't gotten the battlepass this time and last night as I slumped into my beat-up 15+ year old faux-leather office chair and booted up my PS5, pleasantly high, I had this beat of "I actually don't want to get pissed off at a bunch of online randos" and I started a new game in Final Fantasy X instead. Like yeah, I'm still playing my video games, but there is something incredibly freeing about realizing you were playing a game more out of habit than actual enjoyment and then switching gears to something pleasant and familiar that really reminds you of why you fell in love with video games to begin with.
