#i was having a laff about this questline but i will be honest the envoy is deeply fucked up about every single thing that happened here#like a series of events designed specifically to fuck the envoy up.#<- the envoy has a name btw. but the emperor named him His Envoy and that's all anybody knows him as now#and he refuses to let anyone call him anything else because every time he hears it it reassures him the figure he's run to for protection#hasn't abandoned him like his first.#like. the emperor has sent him to fulfill his Holy Purpose because he Loves him#and the title bestowed upon him is evidence of that trust and love.#and then sargamis points out that the emperor is using him for status#which bring about such an ecstatic pain and righteous anger in him#that he convinces sargamis to kill himself for HIS god directly afterwards.#in what is blatantly a vicarious masochistic punishment designed to remind both of them of their place#as loyal and unquestioning servants of their gods.#and then sargamis's sacrifice doesn't work. because of course it wouldn't. it was meant as a representative punishment.#but it's still so distressing to him that he ends up Immediately making a Bad Choice the second one is presented to him.#because of the irrational parallel he set up between his own faith to the emperor sargamis with eothas#means that watching sargamis fail does nothing to shore up the panic of being questioned on his own faith.#i <3 characters with gaping holes in them#i <3 characters that will only ever erode the hole larger every time they attempt to stuff something new inside <3 <3 <3#avowed#avowed spoilers
