2-22-22 - #justiceforahmaud Noone wins but the truth... 😪 Rest in Perfect Peace brother! #soloperspective @attorneycrump is a living legend of the #civilrightsmovement in 2022. Lets not wait until he is dead and gone to give him his flowers 💐 We must improve our recognition and appreciation for black history that walks amongst us... we have so many firsts like female African American supreme court Justice only 56 years after black women were allowed to vote. ONLY 56 YEARS... let that sink in... not bad ladies that was quick #blackgirlmagic #scotus So many of our #blacklegends that have arisen over the past 53 years from the end of legal segregation are still here and need their flowers too 💐 . I know yall felt it during the #nba75 #allstarweekend , all those guys are the first of so many categories... #respectyourelders Today we mark a bittersweet day in Black history... we should all remember where we were when this justice and statement was rendered. Many African Americans have suffered from the same fate as Ahmaud did 2 years tomorrow with no justice til this date. So as I said bittersweet 🎶 😪 💔 We want to call for more love upon the family of #ahmaudarbery🙏🏿. His mom is the #realmvp. Calling for healing for her heart ❤. But stay tuned more history because this #ahmaudarberrycase isnt over . The district attorney who delayed the arrest and persecution of these now guilty racists is next on the list of holding all accountable. It shows that the inhuman text messages we heard in court are a way of life for the people in this part of the 🇺🇸. #confederateculture #blackhistory365 #blacklivesmatter #blackhistorymatters #LIVESINMECHALLENGE #thankyougeorgefloyd #22222 #blackhistorymonth (at Boston, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CaSuWpavxEe/?utm_medium=tumblr

This past Friday, Todd, a Marine with two decorated purple hearts stood at the Utah’s State Capitol with black tape over his mouth reading “I Can’t Breathe” and holding a sign that said “justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, and countless others…” For 3 hours he stood and kneeled in 100° weather in silence to the point where his shoe soles started to melt from the heat. Your silence speaks volumes. The Military are a brotherhood... #blacklivesmatter #blm #lordmesaart #military #marines #icantbreathe #equalityisntequity #justiceforjacobblake #jacobblake #JacobBlakeshooting #ripgeorgefloyd #thankyougeorgefloyd Our people's military history is often downplayed or covered up all together. The vision of a black soldier has historically been taking orders, serving the worst assignments and given NO credit for their sacrifice. It should have been a vision of valour, courage and strength. Recently, learned about my family's military history. My Maternal Grandfather fought Marine, fought in WW2. My paternal grandfather was the 1st Commandant General of the Nigerian Civil Defense Force. If systemic racism was a human body... #redlining is its bowels. I just downloaded this book 'The Color of Law: the forgotten history of how our government segregated America' by Richard Rothstein. 'Redlining' was a Federal Government housing program designed specifically to keep African Americans from owning a home. This program was borne out of the great depression as a way to develop the middle class. Color coded maps were drawn for every major city in America where red areas were not given loans (African american population located). Yellow areas was one step up from red and was populated by others like Jews , Irish , Italians. It designated areas in Blue and Green for the white areas , banks gave loans to these areas. These home had in the lease or mortgage conditions that barred not only the sale of homes in these blue and green areas but also resale & rental to African American. What's more systemic that land ownership and the lasting legacy are evident by the poverty ridden neighborhoods these REDLINED communities are still in today. #redline #racism #blacklivesmatter #icantbreathe #ripgeorgefloyd #thankyougeorgefloyd #allyboston #education #technology #travel #dna #africanamerican #afrimerican #vibes #africanculture #culture #african #fashion #africanimmigrant #afrolatin #afrocaribbean #friendsofafrica #afrobeats #africanyouth #africandance #family #business #art #community (at Boston, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCi3BhgH9Mg/?igshid=7xwwxm28aaop

Happy 4th of July, 2020. Not because of what America has been since before its birth in 1776 but for what America can still become. Much respect always to an African American Hero Prophet Muhammad Ali. #happy4thofjuly #muhammadali #blacklivesmatter #icantbreathe #thegreatest #thankyougeorgefloyd #islam Reposted from @artbywak ✊🏿🇺🇲 🖤 I am America. A key part to our African diaspora cultural education curriculum teaches that descendants of the confederacy must face the burden placed on them by their ancestors. And its gonna hurt... ALOT! Sorry but the legacy of slavery is such an ugly institution that everyone is scarred by. However, paying for your father's sins and reaping what you sow and treating others like you want to be treated and ying & yang and even carma are all part of being human and expressing humanity. If your ancestors denied humanity to others and denied you the humanity and dignity of truth of who you really are. Then the confederate descendants who were taught these lies by their own parents, nonetheless, will have no choice but to be at the mercy of those denied. It's just your turn now! Time to heel! Luckily, we have always been a people of peace, dignity and tradition for centuries. And just like water we have a cycle that goes from vapors to storm to ice and back to liquid again... we will always return to our natural state of neutrality, wisdom and peace. This post is honor of the day the last State flag in the United States of America with the Confederate flag in it being voted down... the FORMER Mississippi state flag came down on June 28th, 2020 (kindly note that the vote down was NOT a unanimous one so still have work to do). My brothers and sisters... please help me think about this...Its 2020 and the story is STILL being told... dont shy away from history people. Do your part! The time is NOW! #thankyougeorgefloyd #allyboston #blacklivesmatter #icantbreathe #ripgeorgefloyd #education #technology #travel #dna #africanamerican #afrimerican #vibes #africanculture #culture #african #fashion #africanimmigrant #afrolatin #afrocaribbean #friendsofafrica #afrobeats #africanyouth #africandance #family #business #art #community (at Boston, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCEN0_bHzoL/?igshid=1px2w8y6rgxdu

This morning enjoyed a classic performance by a young lady #gladysknight ... she was on one of my fav shows the #muppetshow ... I was steady trying to remember the words as i humm though the classic hit 'heard it through the grapevine 🍇 ' When you admire the beauty, talent and great music of this pioneering female black artist... I see the smiles and hear the joyous voice. I cant help but wonder how strong we are to be happy amidst the oppression we face as people of color... This show aired from 1976-1981 just a mere decade after legal segregation was outlawed and the assassination of #MLK. When going through the #Disneyplus list of episodes, I really was excited to watch legends like Dom Deluise and Roger Moore in their primes squaring off with the cast of Muppets. Its also so sad to see so few people of color as guest stars...we had 8 out of 118 episodes. Other black stars were #LouRawls, #BenVreen, #DianaRoss, #DizzyGillespie, #LolaFalana, #PearlBailey & #HarryBelafonte , not in that order. Ben Vreen was the first & to be honest his opening act for a black person on the Muppets where he was dancing up a jig and smiling that ridiculous over dramatic happy negro smile was sad. Please don't get me wrong. This man is legendary. I completely understand for him to be allowed on the show he must have an act that the #racist audience would accept. Some would point out 2021 and scream...look at the progress we have made...apart from the fact that the show was taped a little over a hundred years after the abolishment of slavery, 50 yrs from #JimCrow & just after the first rebellion (#civilrightsmovement). I say they should send us the schedule showing when the southern white Christian tribe aka the #Confederates ✝️ will be able to make enough progress to express simply humanity and empathy to other human beings... #January6th #insurrection shows that I guess we have to wait much much longer... Have a blessed day! #gladysknight #muppetshow #blackhistory #africandiaspora #africaunite #blacklivesmatter #thankyougeorgefloyd #redlining #criticalracetheory #truthshallsetyoufree #truthhurts #blackhistory365 #africanamerican #civilrights #jan6 (at The Muppet Show) https://www.instagram.com/p/CV7-EgbLCpf/?utm_medium=tumblr
