out of curiosity
are there any specific moments/situations/scenes you look for in post-Seine Valjean/Javert fics? (excluding anything related to the Seine and the recovery. After that and before Marius/Cosette wedding.) Stuff you rarely see, or stuff you feel like it has to be there, or just small character(s)/relationship(s) moments?
Not just for Valjean and Javert, but also Cosette, and maybe Marius.
I've just thrown out like 50% of my planned outline because of one line, so I'm just looking for some sparks that could potentially inspire a new direction

6, 12, 20, 23, 35, 42, 45, 48. Your choice who gets which questions :)
6. If they were badly injured, and for whatever reason couldn't go to a hospital, who would they go to for help?
Silver doesn't have a designated ripperdoc in Night City. Their netrunning and quick reflexes protect them from most dangers. Even if they did end up hurt, they're the type to run home and patch themself up on their own.
If their wounds were deeper, and they needed medical help, they'd probably run to the Voodoo Boys. Well, they'd run to Placide, who'd drag them to the nearest ripperdoc.
12. Do they have any sense of style? Regardless of the answer do they believe they have a sense of style?
Linda's style is pretty much anything colorful that catches her eye. She mixes and matches without ever caring about the latest fashions, or even color theory, yet she's sure she's got a strong sense of style! She's proud of the pieces she found in thrift stores (or at her one-night stands' 🤫).
20. Do they have a strong connection to their culture?
Amy's Thai-American. Her parents have always been nomads, so they've been disconnected from their culture for a while. After settling in Night City, Amy reconnected with her culture, as well as Buddhism. The connection still isn't that strong, but it's growing 😌
23. How would they want to die?
Gabby is technically immortal. They cannot be killed but for one way (it's a secret 🤭). Still, Gabby likes to dwell on philosophy and has thought about their death before. They want to die before being too old, before losing their natural beauty. They want to go out with a bang. They hope their death with be recorded and kept in many people's memories. They want their death to be a tragedy, a legend talked about for generations!
35. Do they believe in fate or do they believe they are in charge of their own destiny?
Vaea prefers to believe everything happened to him for a reason, cause he doesn't want to believe that the world just sucks sometimes. Every good or bad thing that happened to him had to come his way. He especially believes that he was meant to meet Johnny, fall for him and Kerry. He feels better when he's not in charge on a daily basis, and letting his own life in the hands of a higher power is an idea that soothes him.
42. Can they speak multiple languages? If yes which all do they speak and why?
Gabby was born in the NUSA from an Italian father and a Kuwaiti mother. They grew up learning all three languages (English, Italian, Arabic). They've also learned some German, Mandarin, French and Spanish at school. They weren't really taught, more like infused with the knowledge thanks to chips.
Later in life, they went through advanced Japanese training in order to infiltrate Arasaka better.
Now though, they only like speaking English and Arabic.
45. Do they plan in advance or just wing it?
Linda is a pretty good liar. She's the kind of girl who'll pretend that everything went like she had planned to, and adds details to prove it, but she cannot plan in advance and only wings it. She tries to stay aware of what other people might or might not know, so she can create the perfect story anyone can believe!
48. How likely are they to go on a quest for revenge?
Flavio won't get even if it's only about himself. If someone wrongs him, he'll just forgive and forget. If someone wants to hurt him, he'll stop them but won't go further in retaliation. But if that someone hurts his family and friends, he becomes relentless. He's overly protective of Linda, hence why she doesn't tell him anything anymore cause she feels infantilized by his behavior. If he's on an eye-for-an-eye principle with anyone trying to harm her, it's even worse if anyone would try to hurt Silver. He knows his hands have been dirtied enough from the War, ending one more life wouldn't weigh much on his soul…

give oc lore? 🤲
(only if you want to ofc!! :D)
this has been sitting in my ask box for a while and i've been meaning to answer it so i finally am!!! this is gonna get long and also confusing so i'll put it under the cut
i'm still working out some details of their lore but right now it's all meant to connect in one self-sustained story!!
basically, there's four main characters— Judah (16), Joseph (16), Roman (15) and Daemon (unknown age). Judah and Joseph are childhood best friends and a musical duo with Judah on vocals + rhythm guitar and Joseph on lead guitar. they live in this small town with like nothing much to do, and also like. they're young and they want Out they want adventures and what-not. they see their music as a way of getting out of there, kind of. because they have a bit of a misconception there about what getting popular would do for them. but anyway, Judah is an insanely ambitious dude who'll stop at nothing to get what he wants (which is. popularity in this case) and he also happens to be a huge fan of this occult comic. so one night while he's reading that comic, he's also thinking about his frustration with the fact that he and Joseph are struggling to get their music thing going. this somehow manages to summon a Demon, later to be known as Daemon because they needed a name to call it, who proposes a deal with him. the deal is that Daemon will help Judah and Joseph get popular, but Judah's soul now belongs to him.
Judah agrees and the band DOES gain popularity, mostly because they're able to find Roman, who agrees to be their bassist. Daemon takes place as their drummer. shenanigans mostly ensue throughout their story while they all find comfort in each other since they're all "outcasts" in a way (yes they're all queer yes this is an important part of their story and how they find kinship with each other).
now ok i know it's like "how can the demon be an outcast too?" but i already planned that out a little. basically the demon belongs to this Horde (proper name still pending) and it counts as a lower-class demon. like lower than everyone else. so it's still trying to gain approval and power. the way for the demons to gain power (in this universe, mostly coincidentally with the occult comic that Judah reads!) is to get as many souls and feed off of them as possible. Daemon is kind of a klutz so has no souls, which is why its so eager to help Judah! usually demons in the universe don't respond to calls from anyone younger than 18. mostly because they think most of their demands are dumb. so Daemon thinks it's advanced somewhat through the ranks but it hasn't because it picked up the call of a teen.
there's more to it but it's not concrete so this is all i have rn!! they are my silly little dysfunctional group of friends and i love them. i do have a few songs that are supposed to be written like from their perspective but i'm still working those out too.
thank you for asking about em!!! i've been meaning to talk about them LMAOO

Imagine Light in the end defeats both Near and Mello. He becomes the absolute god of earth until his death. In his last days of life: who would he give the death note?, would he look for someone like Mikami? or he would just die without giving the death note to anyone?, I ask because what if he chooses someone not worthy the power?, or if he chooses someone who'll eventually choose someone unworthy to continue with Light's legacy?. Thanks in advance for answering, I hope you have a nice day.
God, the answer that I consider the most logical to this is a deeply uncomfortable one, but I think Light would raise an own child to become his successor /o\ This sounds so fanon, but I think fanon has a point there...
Light’s goal is a long-term change in the world so I can’t see him leaving his legacy behind without anyone to care for it after his death. But he wouldn’t just give the notebook to anybody - people like Mikami are fine as long as he can directly supervise them, but I don’t think he has enough faith in anyone like that to keep his plan going. End-canon Light is already a very jaded man.
So in the interest of having a heir who fully agrees with his ideals, I actually do think he would have found a wife he gets along with and raised a child. Whether or not the wife knows Light is Kira is another question, but I’d assume he’d pick a Kira worshiper he finds nice enough and do tell her, so they can indoctrinate the kid with his ideology from childhood on.
To be perfectly clear, I doubt Light had this in his plans at the point canon ends when he is only 23, but I think that as time goes by in a Kira Wins scenario, he’d eventually think of it when in his 30s or so.
I’m not sure what to say about the what if of someone ‘unworthy’ entering the position... it’s horrifying totalitarian rule over the world one way or another anyway, but if the child turns out less uuuuh “””comparatively laid back””” than Light is, I suppose the world has a lot more fear to deal with. In turn, that might lead to protest and reopened investigations however, so who knows, if the heir was crueler, maybe they’d get taken down after all.
