Thank you @fruit-preserves-pal for indulging me. Her name is Ariya and she's an altmer who pretty much comes from nothing. She grew up in the slums of an overcrowded imperial city. Her mum was a runaway from the mage college who ran an underground illegal magics business.

Ariya is a bitter and apathetic woman. She struggles heavily with addiction problems and has a taste for the dark arts (her mum had a necromancy grimoire she found as a little girl and obsessed over). She gets good at stealing to survive.

Eventually she finds herself in a dangerous situation with some imperial guards, end ends up killing a few in self defense. She gets the hell outta there and starts hightailing it to make it to skyrim, where she gets picked up and the events of the game begin.

She essentially avoids the main quest at any cost. She wants to start over and make a real life for herself. She starts an alchemy business out of her home in winterhold, and hunts game/explores in her free time.

However she has self destructive tendencies, and ends up joining up with the thieves guild.

My plans for her is that she is going to become a master thief and big ol crime boss before she actually goes through the main storyline. :0 give her a bit of a heroes redemption, yknow?

Its not so much she secretly has a heart of gold underneath? Its more like if she had been allowed to flourish under different circumstances she would have been a very different, and good person. She wants to be good but doesn't believe she's worthy of it, doesn't believe she deserves all the chances she's been given (which is why she keeps making bad decisions left and right, until the end)
