I headcanon that Lilia has scars. I mean how can he not? He fought in war. He was shocked by thunder. There is no way he doesn’t have scars. Inflicted on him or through training, he has them.

Look at his outfit? Love the outfit. Chef kiss. Sexy sexy fae. But you can’t tell me that armor will protect him from everything (unless it’s magicked?? Or something?? 🤔)

His general outfit is more speed and brunt force attack than defense (from what I can tell) so he has to have had some injuries.

I can see Lilia hide his scars with magic. He didn’t want his boys to worry. Even now, centuries later, he can feel them.

The pain has dulled but it’s still there, some days it hurts more than others. But he sees the smiles in front of him and he’s know each one was worth it. For this moment right in front of him.

When he attends NRC, the diasomnia uniform covers them without issue, and the moments they aren’t? A little magic will do the trick. Beside, he looks cuter this way, wouldn’t you say?

Can you imagine then? The vulnerability of him revealing these scars to you? You running your hands over them? Feeling the uneven skin.

Some scarred red as if new; some darkened with time. All of different sizes. Some too close to places that, for anyone else, would have been fatal.

Can you imagine then? Taking those hands and kissing them? Each and every scar? Can you imagine kissing the scars on his back. Those over his heart? The one by his neck, any deeper it would have spelled his end.

Imagine running ointments over his scars. Him blissfully sleeping. Lilia waking up refreshed for once in many years.

Aches nearly gone. All these years he had kept them hidden, managed the pain on his own, but with you; he has finally been able to rest and recover in a way he hasn’t in a long time.

He finally allowed himself to be vulnerable.

I can see Lilia, after book 7, not hide it anymore. There’s no point. The truth is known and he would rather reserve his magic than waste it.

He might not show it out in the open but in the dorm? In his room? When he’s with family and you? He doesn’t hide it anymore.

His scars are a part of him. They spoke of his past. It spoke of his sacrifices. A constant reminder of what led to his present.

It’s something he doesn’t need to hide anymore.

Not now and not ever again.

He is Lilia Vanrouge, the one who loves his family.

anyways with the modern au vision, as much as it pains me to hear about the devastation they go through, and their 2 year breakup followed by a period of uncertainty and being afraid of hurting or being hurt... as painful as all that is, in the end, i'm still just glad that they are both alive and well and able to go through this with each other 😭

eee youre so sweet, thank you so much for enjoying my modern au vision!!!! and i wholeheartedly agree... i think in every universe, they're bound to end up with conflict, separation, lots of anger and grief within their own personal lives that'd inevitably entangle into how they'd perceive one another and themselves and what they both think they deserve. even in a modern au, they cannot escape their self doubts... that's just the kind of people they are </3 but the time they didn't have in canon, they will have it in a modern au, allowing time to recover, allowing another chance. at the end of it, i like to imagine them happy and married and with a small family of their own, living long and peacefully.

its just there. there's something offbeat about the greek big three kids. written in the dna that they don't have. Like its not just that big three kids are scarily powerful (well it is and it isn't) there are these thoughts, these instincts, that they all seem to be actively fighting off through out the series, both consciously and subconsciously... and yet a part of them is also hungry for it. starving for it. Power or Darkness or Cruelty or Control or some Other Thing in some form or way. I just. love it.

I’m curious if you’ve come across this pic of chihiro and lin before!! A couple months ago I found it on Pinterest and was so confused and excited cus i had never seen it before. Came to find out it was part of a ghibli merch calendar someone was selling. But it looks straight out of the movie! I wonder if it was from a deleted scene. (The movie was supposed to be around like three hours I think)

I saw that image on Pinterest too! I was so excited because I thought it was a deleted scene or extra official art.

So it's from a merch calendar! That's really cool, actually. I know the Ghibli team had to cut out a lot of extra scenes just to keep the movie short enough (and even then it's really quite long), which always made me really curious about the scenes we never got to see. This would fit perfectly as one of them! It's honestly so warm and endearing.... Maybe we could've seen more interaction between Lin and the other worker girls, or even some development between them and Chihiro. Especially since the girls in this image look suprisingly young! Anyway, it's nice to see Lin and Chihiro making up for the food that was spoiled by the river spirit.

Would anyone happen to know about the origin of these two images?

I've heard they're from the Japanese Studio Ghibli Twitter, but whenever I follow the source links, nothing comes up. Did they delete the posts or the whole account? It's honestly a bummer because these are such sweet and adorable images and I was really excited to read through all the reactions to it. If anyone knows what happened to these posts or the original source of the images, I'd be really grateful to hear about it!

My least favorite character should be someone that bores me (like any of the one-off characters in the fender bender episode). HOWEVER. Alice, driver of the When Hairy Met Smoothies (disgusting) truck, activates my bloodlust with her road raging horn. Oh boo-fucking-hoo “change is scawy,” she almost ran over a kid because she didn’t want to make a left turn. Her apology is shit. Her ideas are shit. Her attitude is shit.

In short, I’m keying her stupid truck.

So I have a question for you, just ignore when you don't feel like answering.

I came to Mattdrai via the enemies/rivals to lovers tag and then got sucked into hockey. I really like the fanon take on Leon, fav character, fanon Matthew was fine but way too woobified and infantilized in so many fics. So my surprise when I started to watch games, interviews etc. Public Matthew is so confident, so loving, awesome family to back him up, especially Brady, hot as hell, sexy way of playing hockey, amazing public persona. Loved and respected by his team, beyond hockey.

Then Leon. His only trait seems to be that he's pissy which I can appreciate but it seems that he's just a downright mean, arrogant guy with a superiority complex (see that interview when he puts Silovs down.) I don't find him stoic at all but he's just seems boring and bland and yeah, pissy. It doesn't seem like he has fun or likes his team a lot or is liked by them (Connor aside and his skills aside.) His friendship with Connor seems the only endearing or likeable thing. He even looks good in a bland way and his hockey is while it's so skillful it's not hot and also I wonder why his dirty plays aren't called out more often.

So what do I miss? Where does great fanon Leon come from? Why is he written mostly so superior to Matthew and where comes the "his team likes Leon so much but Matthew is an outcast in his own team come from?) It's so far from what I gather from old and new interviews or games and I have watched a lot, also German interviews. I really would like to like Leon, shipping them had been more fun when I didn't find his public self so jarring. What do I not see what everyone else seems to get?

first off thank you for such a thought out ask! i don't get to dive into things like this a lot outside of writing fic and it got my brain gears going.

to get right into the bulk of this ask: i get what you are saying about leon. that can be the way he comes off for sure, and look everything i'm gonna say? i'm talking out of my ass here. i don't claim to know anything about him as a person besides what's publicly presented, and i don't have much right to theorize about why he is the way that he is, but i'd be lying if i said i didn't think about it. how would i write rpf otherwise, right 💀

i think he cares a lot. and i think sometimes he gets so wrapped up in things, how things should be, how he should be performing, etc, and when it doesn't go a certain way he gets frustrated and snarky (eg, pissy comments and such). but i don't see that being bad necessarily, especially when it's seems to come from such a team oriented state of mind. which, i dont think he dislikes his team at all? i think if anything, he has a sort of blind faith in his team, and that's the only context i could see a 'superiority complex' making sense in. and yah maybe a little misplaced at times, but ultimately i think it comes from believing so fully in his team and not seeing that come to fruition. he really does not seem to care about his individual performance much at all, so how self obsessed can he be? when i think about leon i just see someone that is ultimately very passionate and committed to the game he plays. i'm also curious to know where you get the vibe that his team doesn't like him? simply because i never got that impression from any of the other oilers, they all seem like they're obsessed with him.

beyond hockey, i see a caring, sweet, kindhearted individual. anytime i see a picture or vid of him interacting with bowie, or even the things his girlfriend posts about him, the comments he leaves for people on ig, and yah of course in the way he talks/acts around connor, i see fragments of someone soooo different than the little two minute post game interviews (which, can we judge any hockey player on those? i think they all hate them dfkjgsd). it's not always something i actively go digging for or have examples of the top of my head, but i do see it, and it definitely goes into creating the version of leon that i have in my mind.

hey, and, he's a silly guy!!! please, i know the reputation is pissy and humourless, ESPECIALLY in fic, but that man is so funny. so many random offhanded comments that make me pause and then laugh. a different sense of humour but it's so there. i love the sandcastle vid from the asg last year and feel like it's a good example of that, all sunburnt and happy. also hey, big man in tune with his fear of the ocean? love that. that little vid of him dancing on the ice earlier this season, those halloween photos where he's dressed as a monkey, every time he talks to a kid. hell, seeing him in warmups and watching the way he takes time to interact fans?? loveee watching warmups but i'd never had a player actually acknowledge my existence before leon!

also i really enjoy his personality on the ice, i like the rat behaviour and the sassy comments that he makes to other players/refs, i like the bitch moves, and i like his hockey too. i think his game is dependable and like you said skillful, and while maybe not the most creative, the sureness and the technical aspect it is hot to me. so my thoughts on everything are probably skewed in that regard.

anyways this was just a whole lot of rambling about why i find him interesting, endearing even, but i understand the perception you have. i don't like some players that other people love, just cause i cant see what they see. and honestly that's sometimes just the way it is! if you don't like leon, maybe u just don't like him and thats fine.

disclaimer that i have only been on hockeyblr for a couple years, and really didn't spare many thoughts for leon til the beginning of the 22/23 season. truthfully i'm hardly the person to ask about leon imo, but of course i have thoughts anyways! if someone else with more knowledge reads my bit of rambling here, please feel free to chime in and add your voice to this!

and side note, ofc, i have to touch on this bc who would i be if i'm not one to talk about matthew; in the way of m.tkachuk, i think that in the early days of mattdrai it was maybe a fair take away during his time with the flames (minus the woobifying). even though he was loved so much here and had some fucking times, and i think the team was mostly good to him (player wise if not regarding management, that is), i see such a stark difference now that he's on the panthers. he seems much happier and more confident, and obviously he's clicking with the cats on another level, and i do see a shift in how he's been portrayed in fics since tbh.

Lord Shen x Reader Headcannons

- This stuck up, mithery, hairpin tempered ball of anxiety and condescension is officially your problem now. I mean. You chose this, so I’ll leave it to you as to what end of the bad choices scale you’re landing on, but man. You sure picked.

- I also can’t get over the fact that – in China and most of the East: white is associated with death and sadness, and mourning. You not only picked the unhinged genocide gun bird, you picked the only person in all of China to be literally born emo via albinism.

- I will get back to the above, but I’m mcfucking losing it over the image of Shen being. The smaller of the two of you.

- Like if you were a smaller creature he could properly get his elegant noble stride on, nose in the air and tail gently swishing behind him as he circles you, admiring every angle and relishing the nervous, excited little glances you give him. He might not be a strictly predatory species but he sure loves that thrilling edge of not-quite-stalking. He’s too high class for the genuine article, that’s what he has the wolves for.

- But if you had the audacity to be larger than him?!

- He’d grind his teeth if he had any. He wants so badly to intimidate you – making sure to step with an extra click of metal coated talons, words honey-barbed and sticky as he looks for chinks in your armour, having to crane his head back and up to look you in the eye and- look- could, could you just- just lean down? - Of course he does, underneath all the royal snobbery and sass, really, genuinely like you. More than he ever thought he could ever like another person. Go you.

- ...He can’t contain the terror that you might not like him back. Not because of all the murder, no, that’s clearly not the issue. But because he isn’t perfect enough for you. Because he’s not enough.

- Shen popped out of his egg all but rocking the 2007 bangs and MCR soundtrack of his time: born the colours of death in a house and species traditionally all the colours of the rainbow will have been like a self fulfilling prophesy – unspoken but not forgotten as he grew up and internalised his inadequacy by striving for excellence in literally everything else in life.

- Excellence in the form of weaponry, security, excessive control and genocidal ruthlessness. Combined with ingenuity, high intelligence and paranoia: all wrapped in a package of straining courtly manners and a need to constantly have the upper hand.

- You keep taking the fucking rug out from under him by reversing the script and being nice. Even his nanny (soothsayer, who has having a great time munching popcorn and giving incidental commentary) gives him shit and drives him up the wall – yet you’re out here, smiling (how dare you-) and- and saying he looks good (he knows, knows he looks sickly and out of place, a reaper amongst royalty-) and – of course you want to hand his hand really, who wouldn’t (who would?) - he’s fine, he’s fine-

- If he dared to let you go, he’d shatter like a discarded doll.
