Hi, could you please tell us about your weapon preferences when it comes to battles? Ik sometimes it depends on the wanderer type or the battle type ( the scanning thing/ single target etc). Sometimes it also depends on LIs ig

ooo it sounds like you already have a good understanding the combat mode, nonnie! If I had to give you the TL;DR answer of my personal weapon preference it would be anything ranged - so guns or wands. I'm really bad with melee/close combat in any game I play... however more often than not, in order to clear high level orbit stages, you'll seeing me use the claymore since its charged attack deals heavy damage to Wanderers. If I had to use a melee weapon it would only be the Hunter Claymore.

You can use all of the Hunter weapons (Sword, Wand, Claymore, and Firearm) with all of the love interests. However, like you said it also depends on the companion you're using! So I'll break it down even further. The ones in color are their Myths stellactrum.

I'm biased towards wands/staff weapons because I mostly play mage/caster classes/jobs in other video games. For non-myth companions I prefer using the hunter wand over the hunter firearms because it does AoE damage on multiple wanderers instead of single target. It saves me some time, yanno? Also if I know it's just one final boss in a fight I would choose a claymore to deal more damage in my charged attack.

I also have that setting checked where my weapon and outfit will automatically match with whichever companion I'm using, so that varies. I usually go in with whatever there on default when challenging a new stage. Depending on how my fight is going I may or may not switch out of it to use a hunter claymore instead. There have been so many instances where the claymore has hard carried me to a clear...

I was definitely wondering how you would make Rayla's decision anything less than insane after 90% of the first chapter, and yet I was shocked to find that it still made total sense. A little more, even; you did her "coming to a conclusion" moment super well. I feel like it clicked for me the same way it did for her, despite me obviously knowing it was a bad move. Well done!

We've thought a lot about the framing of the actual sex essentially as Rayla wanting both distraction and connection after going through yet another really difficult, traumatic experience...but, of course, that distraction can't last forever, can it? Not even til morning, poor thing...and I think one part of the reason we were so compelled to write this is because how much more heartbreaking it is, her coming to a decision like that after them sharing such sweet, caring connection. Our prequel plays with this concept as well--though, it is definitely significantly less sad than POYH, haha.

😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?

A lot of my early stuff, tbh 😅 Like, don't get me wrong: I'm glad those fics exist because I can't imagine my life now if I hadn't gotten back into fandom and started writing rayllum back in 2020. Those fics are what led to me getting to know so many people I consider friends. But like...I was just making up problems in some of those stories that in hindsight are like...what?? Not to mention that I didn't know how to pick a PoV and stick with it. 😅 Sooooo....yeah.

For Rayla: that braid that holds her arc 2 hair in place? yeah, she started doing that while she was gone as a way of reassuring herself that Callum loves her (like imagining that he'd do it for her if he were there). thank u, Tales of Xadia

For Callum, not so much headcanon as much as something fanon that I really loved before arc 2: I really love the thought of him connecting to the moon arcanum, and after TTM, I really really really loved the thought of him coming to understand the moon arcanum being linked with him forgiving/understanding Rayla.

And for both of them...one of my favorite things I've written in a fic for future, engaged rayllum that I will be considering canon until proven otherwise, from my angsty little pre-s4 fic:

Your husband James decides to surprise you with a new haircut...and a new video shoot. Would you like this change on him?

"Okay, so...10 more minutes and...it will be ready...", you explained loud to yourself as checking the cooking meat in the oven. Satisfied, you nodded as closing the oven door and putting your towel aside on your shoulder. Now, time to check on the vegetables. You weren't especially a great chef for you started to learn cooking a few years ago but you always wanted to do your best to cook the best meal you could do for your husband.

A smile just appeared on your face at the thought of him when he'd discovered you prepared his favorite meal. But nervousness quickly invaded you when you realized that it could not had the taste he expected and this was stressing you as hell.

"Honey, I'm home!". With the sound of the boiling potatoes and the kitchen hood, you didn't hear James coming back home from a work day.

No rehearsing or recording today, only talks and meetings about the next song of their new album "Load" to be out and the video shoot they'd want to create with it. He had told you he'd be home for dinner and he was right on time.

He walked over you with a smirk on his face. He had noticed of course that you didn't hear him and he wanted to surprise you. James was a big goofy and he liked to play different kind of jokes on you. He watched for some seconds what you were doing, leaning against the door frame of the kitchen, arms crossed, admiring how you quickly moved from every kitchen stations to get everything ready. A delicious smell invaded his nostrils and made his stomach grumbled.

When you bend over the oven one last time to check on the meat, he realized it was his chance. Slowly, like a predator, he walked carefully, hoping his boots wouldn't make too much noises on the ground but then he remembered you didn't even hear him speaking loud a few seconds ago.

He kept walking until he arrived behind you and without a warning, he gently pinched your two hips making you scream of surprise. James laughed loud, proud of his joke, and you turned around to gently tapped him with your kitchen towel.

"James Hetfield! How dare you!".

"James! How dare you?!", he laughed, imitating your voice in a very feminine, high-pitched way as wrapping his arms around you for a cuddle.

"Silly!", you giggled as pinching gently his chest. "I could had a knife in my hand and hurt you!".

"Oh Mrs Hetfield would had killed me then?", he grinned wild with a goofy giggle. How much you loved hearing him calling you this way! You smiled, amused, until you noticed something different on him.

"James, baby?", you said soft with a frown, checking on him. Yes, something was different, you could tell but what was it ?

"What is it honey?", he kept playing as embracing you, bending to kiss your cheek then your neck. "Can I have my welcome kiss now?"

"Wait!", you exclaimed as cupping his face with your hands, stopping his movements to kiss you on the lips, and made him lean forward. "You hair!".

"What is wrong with my hair?".

"What have you done? Your hair is darker!".

"That's right!", he proudly said with a cocky smile, showing you his new hair color like if he was a model, posing for photograph.

"But...why?", you asked with a frown, not sure of your feelings about it. When he decided to cut his hair off the first time, it had already been a shock for you. But now, you already missed his blond hair.

James lost his smile. He thought you'd have liked it cause damn, he really loved it but he was really surprised of your reaction.

"Don't you like it ? It's for our next video. It was my idea...I thought it was cool and different".

"Well...It's different I agree. It's just that...it's a big change baby...and...", you mumbled, trying to find your words, placing your hands on his chest. You didn't want to disappoint him cause you knew how insecure he could felt sometimes about his look. As you knew that this album was a big change for the band and they sadly didn't receive a lot of good reviews.

"But it's me, with just a different hair color now", he added like if he needed to justify himself. You smiled lovingly at him, caressing his cheek with your palm.

"I know it's you. And you know I'll always love you no matter how you look". He smiled, comforted by your kind words, and finally bend to kiss you on the lips. It was a sweet and tender kiss.

"Now I remember why I've chosen you to be my wife". You giggled loud against his lips before biting his lower lips.

"Stop being silly!"

One month later, James surprised you - but not for a joke this time - while you were lying on a deckchair in your garden. You were comfortably settled, reading one of your favorite novel for the third time.

"Hey baby!", you said smiling to him as he came over, hiding something behind his back. He had still kept his new hair color and you slowly get used to it. If James loved it, you had to accept it? "What's up?"

"Guess what I have here...", he asked with a big grin on his face, nearly jumping on his feet. You placed your book aside and sat, wondering what it could be. You smiled, amused by his behavior.

"Hum...I don't know. Good or bad thing?"

"Good one", he replied, excited.

You searched for some seconds in your head what kind of thing James could brought home on this normal day or was it a special day and you forgot it ?

"A little clue, perhaps?", you suggested and he agreed. He started to hum a melody that you quickly recognized as "Until it Sleeps".

"The video! You got it ?!"

"Yes!", James exclaimed, happy, with a jump as showing you the video tape. You giggled as clapping in your hands.

"Show me baby!".

Comfortably sat in your couch, you waited patiently for James to play the video tape he just inserted inside the video recorder. Once done, he came back next to you, one arms resting behind your back, eyes fixed on the TV as he pushed the button "play". He was watching it for the first time as well and you could tell he was nervous.

The music started and you carefully watched their final work. James was right, the video was really original, different from what they had done before it was in a good way. The story behind it matched good with the lyrics of the song and you analyzed every detail, searching for the meanings of each scenes.

They were all amazing in their character but your eyes couldn't left James of course. He was totally playing his role and his performance really touched you, considering the meaning of the lyrics. You knew the kind of fight he was having against his addiction.

He was incredible. He was gorgeous and finally, you started to like those dark hair on him. You had to recognize that it was really suiting him very well...He was absolutely sexy.

The video ended and James looked at you, excited to now your opinion about it. "So?"

"Mmh...", you started with a grin as looking back at him. "Where to start...?". You teased him as coming closer to gently caress his cheek before your fingers rushed through his hair. "I think you should keep that color for a couple of days or months maybe...".

"Oh really?", he smiled big, leaning against your touch.

"Oh yes, I really like it". James smile grew bigger and he bend to peck you on your lips. You gently rubbed your nose against his before you whispered : "This video made me changed my mind".

"Oh that's nice!", he chuckled before his arms wrapped up around your chest. "Then why was I worried you would never like it ? I just had to wait...until you like it baby...", he murmured before he bend to make you lay down on the couch, showing you one more time how much he was loving you...

Hi so I know this is not an AU question but what are you hoping to see in Horizon 3?

Oh, hi! :D

Well... I usually try to not make expectations so the disappointment doesn't hit too hard. But I would be lying if I said that I have zero expectations haha xD

A few things I would like to see in Horizon 3 are (in no specific order):

-Aloy and Beta develop their sisterly relationship.

-Beta getting a new look (perhaps a Nora-ish one because of Aloy), plus, she learning how to defend and fight for herself so she can be a quest companion.

-Aerial and underwater fight mechanics.

-TEARS! They have some of the top, most realistic graphics of the modern games, are able to animate a hug and other physical interactions nearly perfection... BUT. WHERE. ARE. THE. TEARS (ESPECIALLY DURING THE ANGST MOMENTS)?! I love this franchise, but I seriously can't take the fact there are zero tears vfx. It really broke the immersion for me during the most impactful moments in both ZD and FW (you know which ones I'm talking about).

*sigh*

-Better hair physics for Aloy.

-New tribes (thus new weapon types).

-More machine/tech based equipment (like the Shield Weave Armor and the Specter Gauntlet, for example).

-Bigger machines (let us have battles Shadow of the Colossus style LOL)

-Puzzles where we have to use/command machines to help progress.

-The Sobeck sisters having to use the terraforming system to kick Nemesis' ass.

-Overriden machines follow Aloy (at least the small ones, please)

-Improvement on the mounted combat (mostly on the mounts' skills part).

-If there's going to be some romance mechanic, please, PLEASE! Be optional, so we can choose to keep going or not with it.

That's all that I can think of for now.

6. pastel, boho, tomboy, preppy, goth, grunge, formal or sportswear? - Not sure what the context is for this one (styles I like or styles I wear?) But I'll go with styles I wear; (minimilist) goth and grunge I would say, on rare occassions I'll wear formal such as a shirt and waistcoat :> 11. what you have for breakfast on an average day? - Toast, a cup of tea, a glass of water and a small glass of fresh orange juice (because of how my shifts are I tend to be as hydrated as I can in the morning to keep me going until I get a break or go home)

20. preferred place to write (i.e., in a note book, on your laptop, sketchpad, post-it notes, etc.) - In my Notes on my prehistoric iPad that I've had for about 10 years :I 50. what made you laugh the hardest you ever have? - The Biggus Dickus scene in Life of Brian 😅 It's even funnier now knowing that Michael would change the silly names between takes and the extras were literally trying not to laugh and break character the whole time (which they obviously failed in the end and it was kept in the final cut).

IVY by Taylor Swift / "Haunted" (later on the list) was the first Taylor Swift song I thought of because it's called "Haunted," but to me "Ivy" fits better in some ways. I think it's the imagery of "faith-forgotten land." "loml" was also a possibility because "dancing phantoms on the terrace."

DANCING WITH YOUR GHOST by Sasha Alex Sloan / I know it's another obvious one because of the use of "ghosts," but I think the sound of the song matches the lyrics and makes it feel a little spooky.

SUN-BLEACHED FLIES by Ethel Cain / Content-wise I know this has nothing to do with the prompt, but based on vibes/sound it felt like it fit.

WARM WHISPERS by Missy Higgins / This is not spooky at all, but it still came to mind for me! I remember feeling like this song surrounds you, which I think is what stuck with me about this prompt—it went spooky -> haunting.

ROCK YOUR SOUL by Elisa / The prompt keeps making me think of haunting and echoes, and the end of the song has that characteristic to me — the part that starts "together with the sun, we shine all the way." The way it builds.

HURRICANE by Fleurie / the picture I get in my mind (maybe from the music video) is a dark, sort of haunted house. I think of creaking and that ghostly element before the song builds (my favorite part is when it breaks, this song so beautifully mirrors the lyrics in how it builds)

THE HILL by Cristin Milioti / I think it's the minor key elements of this song that makes it feel sort of haunted/spooky. I love Cristin Milioti so much and I love this musical and the song and the lyrics and agh.

Hi, hello, I just remembered that you’re in the middle of your new writing month challenge! How’s it going? Is your group liking the new month?

It's going very well! We've got a couple dozen or so people actively participating, and a few more cheering us on from the sidelines. (And my cofounder and I are working out the kinks!) We're having our overnight writing event this Saturday night, and we're looking forward to a good turnout.

My writing is going well also. XD I'm using And If Thou Wilt, Forget as my project because I didn't have as much of a buffer as I'd like, but you know what, it's our challenge and we set the rules and our rules are All Words Are Good Words and All Projects Are Good Projects and You Don't Have To Start New and You Decide What Winning Looks Like.

well, i was thinking about this a few days ago so i will share my findings with the class, so to speak XD i was wondering why i haven't really seen ship weeks around in tlt (i know i've only been here for four months but i've really been looking like, very hard). and then,, once again,, i had to look at the difference in size between mdzs (80k fics on ao3), svsss (20k fics on ao3), and tlt (5.5k fics on ao3) and remember that i'm bringing my mdzs fandom behavior into a much smaller fandom overall lmao (though proportionally to fandom size, through our hard work, my rarepair in tlt is a slightly bigger ship somehow which is hilarious to me) and that was the end of that little foray into the contemplation of the difference between my backburner fandom and my present obsession fandom for now. different classes in terms of size

What colour are your eyes?

Blue! I'd say they're pretty lightish in the middle, with a dark blue border :) though I really only see myself in the bathroom mirror (with no natural lighting) so I wouldn't be able to comment on their exact colour haha. I like them a lot though!

Do you have siblings? How many?

Nope, no siblings! I'm an only child raised by a single parent, which I'm pretty sure makes me one of the worst people imaginable if you go by the stereotypes ;)

Question: what is the update schedule for PoYH?

Hey there! This series should get a new installment each weekend! We’re going to be going back and forth between this fic, its prequel, and its companion Callum POV fic…so next weekend will be the first chapter of the prequel. POYH should be updated roughly every other week, unless we have a Callum POV installment interrupting the back and forth.
