okay ik i'm really late on this but i've just finished developing my ocs so now i am Ready. i got tagged by @lyana-chan so thank you!!! i think everyone has been tagged so consider this an open tag to take part if you haven't already!! i'm doing my Canon Girlies (it's also under a read more because it's a bit of a long post lmao)
How-to: Rate your OCs based on how they handle cuddling/being cuddled.
Guinevere Cousland - 4/10
During the Blight, Gwen wasn’t very big on hugging. Ever since Howe’s betrayal, she’s kept herself to herself. Howe’s attack leaves any trust she had shattered, with her disliking hugging as it makes her vulnerable—the close proximity could allow someone to harm her. After the Blight, her walls come down slowly as she unwinds. Alistair benefits the most from her new-found trust. The King and Queen-consort are often seen walking together in the corridors of the palace, his arm around her waist.
Likewise, Gwen initially did not enjoy being cuddled. On top of the previous sense of vulnerability, being cuddled came with a loss on control that Gwen hated. Gwen needed to be in control of everything—including who touched her and when. As her trust for her companions increases, she finds she enjoys physical touch from them more. To the point that she begins to seek out hugs when she needs them, with Alistair in particular being a good source of physical contact.
Artemis Hawke - 7/10
Artemis loves giving hugs. If someone is in her arms, then they are where Artemis wants them: with her and out of harm’s way. With the loss of each family member, Artemis clings to her remaining ones tighter, as if she can stop them being ripped from her if she just holds on tight enough. She also despises seeing her loved ones upset or in pain, so hugs are her way of comforting them.
Though, she is less keen on being hugged. Like Gwen, she likes to be the one in control of herself—and being within hugging distance also puts her within range of a dagger. Being hugged requires a level of vulnerability that she just cannot allow. Though, she will accept hugs from those she truly trusts, such as Sebastian after the death of her mother.
Caelia Lavellan - 9/10
Caelia adores giving hugs. As a healer, her healing spells are most easily cast through physical contact. Therefore, to Caelia, touch means healing. Even if there is no magic behind it, she will hold her loved ones all the same. When Cullen is suffering through his lyrium withdrawls, Caelia will insist on holding him if declines a potion or a healing spell. It will make you feel better, she insists. She is right, but Cullen is loathe to admit it.
Likewise, Caelia adores being held. As a girl, her family held her whenever she needed comfort. A nightmare, a spider crawling on the aravel wall—all would send her into the arms of her parents. And though she is a girl no longer, she still seeks out touch all the same. When she can, she enjoys sitting with Cullen before a fire. It allows her to be herself, even for a moment.

@caemthe  /  unprompted.
The poisoned land was too much for humans and beings with 'weaker' bodies that couldn't stand the corruption in the air. Getting healers and saints to help with the purification of the land turned out to be nearly impossible despite the generous pay offered for the task. The High King waited for the saintess to arrive, helping her get down from the carriage sent to pick her up. "I hope the trip went without any incidents."
❝  it was comfortable  ,  many thanks  .  ❞   ———  a luxury not many could afford  ,  not in times like this  ,  where strife and famine plagued the lands . . . a murmured thank you as she takes the other's hand while stepping down from the carriage  ,  she can smell the stench of corruption in the air  ;  acrid and nauseating  ,  it lays much akin to a blanket across the land  .  caelia needn't look around to really UNDERSTAND the situation at hand . . . the king must have been desperate for assistance  ,  enough to extend a call for assistance far and wide to anyone willing to come to a place rife with death and destruction  .  ❝  i must warn . . . i may not have the ability to save everyone  ,  ❞  caelia's gaze flickers upwards to glance at ferdiad's reaction to her words  .  she may be a SAINTESS  ,  a made vessel for holy energy but even a full glass cup will empty one day  .  with the extent of the corruption spread  ,  with how deep it has rooted itself in this land . . . caelia is unsure if she could rid all areas and all people of this plague . . . not if she wanted to rid it once and for all  .             ❝  let us not beat around the bushes . . .  ❞  caelia says  ,  pulling back her shoulders to stand straighter  ,  ❝  did you find the source  ??  ❞  she queries  .

⚰️ - if your character lost a loved one, what would they do? would they grieve and move on? try to bring them back? cling to their remains?
> for that scientist character whose name I forget?
the scientist is Caelia Hawthorne! :D of the RCU's monster hunter family™.
she's like a chemist for magic and dubious surgeon lol, my immediate thought is that of course she would do some fucked up necromancy ;D
but this ask got me thinking... she wouldn't
first off - she only does unethical creepy experiments on faeries (unless it's on herself, or a human who asked). and no fae would be her loved ones*, they're evil.
second - bc they're mixed up with the fae, basically everyone in her family dies in some horrible magic-adjacent accident, or battle with a monster, or experiment gone awry - including both of her own parents by the time she's in her 20s. that house is basically seeped in death - so she's no stranger to it and wouldn't react in an extreme way like trying to resurrect anybody
caveat that if her brother (montague, the capitalist witch) died, she would descend into straight up evil for sure.
*idk where Gilly lands in all that, since she "adopted" their family and basically raised Caelia. but if Gilly died I think she would be relieved
horror themed writing ask game!

Happy Halloween!! For your seasonal treat, here’s an OC question:
What moment would Caelia Hartley describe as a defining moment in her life?
Thank you SO much @daughter-of-melpomene/@faerieroyal!!! 💕
Caelia’s defining moment was when she, guardian of a secret grove where magic thrived, discovered her untapped magical potential, realising that she is the key to unveiling her grove's secrets, unlocking an ancient power that could save Camelot in the war to come. While she is shocked and a bit scared that she has that hidden magic, even though she grew up around it, she considers it a blessing, especially when she uses her magic to fight against the enemies of Camelot.

distraction time!!! if you're up to it, i would love to see content of pavetta and celia the service lioness! :D have a great day
Hello!! Thank you for this cute ask!
Tumblr media
comissioned from @lakka-arts!
let me share some headcanons about these two with you!
caelia is the only cub rhena, calanthe's pet lioness, ever had, and she was given to pavetta when pavetta was 3 years old.
pavetta named caelia herself
pavetta loves the texture of caelia's fur. she likes to stroke it, or even just hold her hand in it. it's a sensory thing
when she was little, pavetta imitated caelia sometimes and would sometimes act like a lion cub herself.
as she was growing older, caelia learned the basic signs of pavetta's incoming meltdowns. she teacts to them by putting her paws on pavetta, to ground her, and getting right into her face to distract her.
caelia is extremely protective of pavetta and ciri, after after his meeting with vilgefortz and with his disgusting plans, she no longer allowed duny near pavetta or ciri. thatconfused pavetta, because caelia was usually very obedient and listened to her, but leaving duny alone was the only exception where she would not listen to commands

1, 2, 3 for Sparrow?
Oh thank you so much for the ask!!!!! I did just take the opportunity to lore drop about Sparrow's immediate family lol
OC Character Development Questions
1.Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?
Sparrow has one sibling, Isore--though she only remembers him by his nickname, Crow. Sparrow adored Crow, and thought he was the smartest, funniest, kindest, bravest person in the whole world. He basically raised her, and could do no wrong in her eyes. Part of this is because of childish idealization--Crow was a very intelligent engineer, always interested in creating newer, better, more useful or powerful or beautiful things. His work in Dehrukani was mainly with architecture, infrastructure, and improving on the use of incredible magic that the artists of the country used for their creations. He was a child prodigy and a literal genius, but he was also a child who is only a decade than Sparrow--he was in his early teens when he accepted an apprenticeship in Alkenstar, one that would eventually take him to Dehrukani after impressing the right people, but Sparrow had always been part of the package the entire time and needing to take care of her hindered his vision and his ambition in ways that he resented. If they'd grown up together more, that friction would have become apparent over time. Of course, that never happens. When Sparrow is eleven, Crow decides to travel back up north to Alkenstar to meet with his old mentor, and along the way they are attacked. Sparrow is kidnapped and sold into slavery, and believes that Crow dies. Crow is grievously injured and takes years to recover, and believes that Sparrow dies. They never find out otherwise before the beginning of the game, and when Crow finds out about Sparrow through her new rise to notoriety through the Crusades, he also finds out what she suffered and is so devastated by how he failed her as her older brother he does not contact her out of shame. If they were ever to meet, it would have to be through fate or some outside force.
2. What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?
Mentioned before, but nonexistent. Sparrow's mother, Caelia, was a follower of Erastil and a researcher and carer of wildlife--her focus was on birds, and both she and Sparrow's father traveled throughout Avistan and north Garund tracking and documenting migration patterns. Her life and her joy was her work and the adventures she went on as a part of it. She had no desire or skill to care for children; both Crow and Sparrow were accidents. While Crow was a very calm child whose incredible intelligence showed at an early age, making him very easy to manage, Sparrow was fussy, needy, and her appearance often drew questions or suspicion in their travels. She was, quite frankly, a burden, and while Caelia felt guilty for such thoughts, it got to the point where Sparrow's presence greatly impeded her own ability to do research to her satisfaction. When an opportunity arose for both Crow and Sparrow to gain a permanent place to live while she and her husband continued their travels, she took it. She and their father visited the two of them exactly once, then never came back. Presumably, she died on her travels.
3. What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?
Like Sparrow's mother, Sparrow's father Martus did not have much of a relationship with Sparrow. He worked with Caelia on their ongoing project of documenting and observing bird migration patterns; he was her assistant in work and her partner in love. Like Caelia, he had no skill for child-rearing, but unlike her had still wanted to try and had very much wanted children with her. It's him that convinced Caelia to keep both children when their usual protections failed and she became pregnant. Sparrow does have dim memories of her father, more because he had a far more present personality--he was very loud, dramatic, and often engaged with Sparrow and Crow in games and play. As long as his work didn't need his immediate attention and Sparrow was being good, he was very loving; he just didn't know how to handle either child if their moods went sour. He had a short temper and little patience for things outside of his passion himself, and found the full intricacies of caring for two children exhausting. Martus continued to travel with Caelia after Crow started his apprenticeship and he and Sparrow are left behind in Alkenstar; presumably he met the same fate as his wife. Crow does remember both parents and is very bitter about how they basically made him raise his little sister, both before and after they left. However, he's especially bitter toward his father, who he remembers as childish and prone to anger. He tries not to share these aspects of them to Sparrow, though, and Sparrow learns about Caelia and Martus through the stories Crow tells her of them.

FFXIVWrite2023 Entry #6
Prompt #6: Ring Last/Next Rules & Info
Tumblr media
How long had it been since she sneaked her way into Garlemald to try to bring back Terris? Honestly, Caelia had no idea. Sure, she was no longer imprisoned and the oppressive air around Decimus was dissipated some, but it still hadn't gone the way she had envisioned at all. She had the ability to move around the area, yes, though for her it was much too cold.
"You'll get used to it," she had been told, but that wasn't true at all. The cold had just seeped into her bones and hadn't left. Not even the heaters or sitting next to the fireplace brought her warmth now, especially not with the touch of the void spreading across her hands.
At least she had her belongings back now, including the weapon that had been specially made for her. There was no need to use it at the moment, but it was with her again, as was her bag of things that she kept with her. A small ruby and sapphire, to remind her of Terris when she was out on a job; the ruby for the colour of his hair, the sapphire for his eyes that she loved so much. Some foodstuffs that had gone, and a few that had not, thanks to the cold.
And a ring. Locke's ring. Looking at it always brought a mix of emotions; sadness because Locke was gone, happiness that she had the chance to be with him, a bittersweet feeling that she had been loved enough to be told he wanted to be with her even until they crossed into the halls of the Twelve. An eternal bond.
Now it was just a bitter reminder that she was a foolish, reckless woman.
"I wonder how much you'd scold me for this," Caelia muttered under her breath as she looked at the black pearl that adorned the top. "How much you'd tell me I was reckless and an idiot for coming here to freeze slowly."
After a few more moments of staring at it, it was placed back into her bag-- carefully, of course, but she was frustrated.
"Perhaps you would be right if you did call me a reckless idiot. I already know it. You would just speak it into the truth, Locke."
Touching the thin slice along her cheek that Serenity had inflicted on her in the impromptu tour around the old lab area, she stood, clutching the bag tightly before placing it elsewhere. While Decimus wouldn't pry, she hoped, the last thing she needed was him finding what looked like an eternal bond ring. He was placated with her for now, but that could also change as quickly as his mind did in deciding she could-- and would-- be a puppet 'empress' for him while he wanted to take the power left behind in the infighting that happened after Varis' death before the Final Days.
Just as long as she didn't forget it when... no, perhaps at this point it was an if? Terris finally won out against the overwhelming presence in his mind, the will of the Emperor, and they finally left this cold, godsforsaken place to go back to their home... though it felt like it wouldn't be a reality. The hope she had for it succeeding was a sliver, but at least it was still there, like the ring in her bag.
Not lost yet. That was good enough for now.

Weirdly specific questions for your oc's:
5, 10 and 17 for Raymond and Caelia
okay, sorry it took so long!! and thank you so much for asking, dearest <333
the interest u have in my messy ocs is so sweet 😭
-
Raymond ;
5. Can they cry on command? If so, what do they think about to make it happen?
raymond cannot cry on command. he's a pathetic actor, never give him a place in any theater production. he'll break down in laughter because he'll feel so ridiculous trying to fake cry
if he truly cries, though, he wants to be comforted with a warm hug or something. he doesn't want any pity or fake sympathy.
10. What fact do they excitedly tell everyone about at every opportunity?
raymond isn't really the type to excitedly boast about something, but if you wanna see him excitedly ranting, get him started on swordfighting. he'll make it so interesting, he'll tell you on and on about how the shorter blade needs to be in close, how fighting with a shield gives u more scope for positions and fighting, etc
it's just his hobby and he likes to talk about it, that's it 😃
17. What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?
raymond notices his clothes. he's incredibly neat and clean and makes sure his clothes are the same. he always has a very meticulously planned outfit on, everything from his coat to his boots pefect
other people notice his hair. it's dark and silky and constantly falling forward into his eyes, and he brushes it every day more than twice to keep it that way 🙄 the reason for raymond minding his appearance this much is because he feels more comfortable that way, simple
Caelia ;
5. Can they cry on command? If so, what do they think about to make it happen?
caelia can cry on command! if she really has to. she's horrible at it and no one believes her, but she thinks of her inability to do everything everyone else does because her health is pathetically weak 😔
when caelia is actually crying, she wants everything and everyone to get lost and leave her alone. that makeup is there to make her look beautiful, not flood down her face in streams. she doesn't want to taint this image of the untouchable, intelligent princess who keeps going despite her illness. her reputation matters the world to her.
10. What fact do they excitedly tell everyone about at every opportunity?
not excitedly, but she throws out the fact that she's the strongest user of spiritual magic to everyone. there are such few things in her life that she can actually boast about that she keeps on talking about it.
and she isn't lying. the immense power caelia holds... she could bring the world to ruin with her well chosen words and a few moments of magic.
17. What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?
caelia notices her sickly complexion. she's so pale it isn't even funny; and is incredibly thin no matter how much she eats. she turns all the mirrors around, sobbing in a fit of anger and self hatred over her bony wrists and shoulders and paper white, dry skin.
other people notice her eyes. they're so vivid and out of place on an ill frame, bright sea green and stormy grey. most grimace as though they're passing a wreck on the highway, muttering about 'unnatural people'. but some can appreciate the bright vivacious colors and how her eyes light up everytime caelia is excited or worked up.
caelia hates her eye color more than anyone ever will. was it too much to ask for to be born normal?

Undisciplined and Lonely by Overwhelmed_Laura on Ao3 - Kingsman
Merlin grabbed his green tartan coat from the hanger by the door. He turned to look at her, realizing that she already seemed ready to go out.
"Don't you have anything to wear over that dress?"
"I did, but I left all my clothes at the mansion" She admitted, a guilty look on her face. "But it's okay, I don't mind"
"I do" He handed the coat to her.
"Wait, no, you're the one who's gonna be cold now"
"At least I have long sleeves and some pants" His gaze dropped to her bare thighs. "Anyhow, I'm a gentleman, don't argue"
Caelia smiled at the way he concluded, but she still felt bad for making him discard his coat.
"Thank you Merlin" She followed him out of the room and into the elevator.
"Pleasure darling"
