Hi! So I am very curious on how your argument with your sister goes, please keep us updated. P.S: Apologies for the swearing, I don't mean anything by it, it's just how I talk. <3 hope you're having a good day.
Nah don't worry about it! (And uh, I actually went to bed straighten after I posted the first argument. I woke up like half an hour ago)
Actually, it's been a bit of an ongoing thing. She has more knowledge on Yu-Gi-Oh but that's because I haven't seen 5ds or Zexal (she has). I think she thinks that allows her to tweak some of the facts since I won't be able to tell the difference.
She is also very stubborn, whatever's she says "is the truth" and "you're wrong". Her favourite yu-boy is Yuto, she actually hates Yugo because she says he's annoying and dumb- and can't duel properly.
I hate that she says that, no one insults Yugo.
I actually kinda started the argument by telling her that I think Yuya has the worst deck out of the Yu-boys (but I also mentioned that I think he and Yugo are close/even). Well, she replied with saying that Yugo is he worst, he's too stupid, if he were smarter and had Yuya's brain then yeah maybe.
Bitch.
Anyway, I couldn't believe it. She thinks that speedroids are weak and suck, that other cards can EASILY stop them. I argued back that speedroids are good for Yugo because he synchro summons, so it allows him to bring out Clear Wing nice and easy.
She then said, well cards can easily get rid of it.
Jay, please, Yugo's back cards try and keep Clear Wing on the field. Stop saying that there are cards that can stop it, yes obviously there will always be cards that can stop other cards it's how the game goes. But that CAN'T be your only argument against Yugo.
Sometimes I think Yugo reminds me of Jaden Yuki- one of her favourite characters. Boy did that piss her off. She acted as though she was insulted. (Look I get people might agree with her or me- I don't mind)
I think they're both adorable and goofy and must be protected. They kinda give off the same energy (for me, other people may have different thoughts).
Anyway, I knew there was no going back because she was mad know. She really hated Yugo, finds him annoying.
(Jay no gotta protect him)
She believes no one could beat Yuri's predaplants because he can adapt to any deck easily. That was in Season three, also I'm like 99% sure Yuri had said something like; why would I use a deck I haven't used before, because of course he would've learned to use the Ancient Gear deck- it's apart of Academia!
Because Yuto is her favourite in Arc-V (and Kaito) Yuri is second, she thinks that if they were to duel then Yuri would have trouble beating Yuto (but be victorious in the end), I told her that I looked at Yuto's deck, I've been up against those godforsaken phantom knights in Legacy of the Duelist, trust me, he's strong (he never brought out Dark Rebellion in LFTD, those other knight things and it took me forever to beat them cuz they kept negating effects- they were traps so Clear Wing's effect didn't really work).
But no, she says, if Yuri were using his predaplants then Yuto would lose- if Yuri were using another deck- then he'd lose against Yuto.
Now I don't completely disagree with how Yuto and Yuri's duel would go, you mentioned that predaplants tokens can change levels (which Yuto would need to XYZ summon) but Yuto is skilled, he'd be able to do something- and those stupid traps of his can negate crap.
If it were a duel between the two dragons then I believe Starving Venom would walk all over Dark Rebellion. (She just kinda nodded, she loves both characters).
Soon I realised that with her, she could never see her favorites be bad at something- she always emphasized that Yuto only lost to Yugo because Yuya snapped him out of beserk, yes even I agree with that but she doesn't always need to point it out- I agree with you!
But get this, I casually mentioned that with Yuri and Yuto's deck- there are cards out there that can stop their graveyard stuff. (Sound familiar?)
Does she this shut her up? Nope
She argues that they have cards that can stop cards from ruining their effects. Holy shit Jay no. You can't just say that after you've said that to me, that's not how it works.
I said nearly those exact words and she's using them so defend her favs.
She just can't admit that there may be people out there that can beat them.
Cripes this is long... And we're only part way through.
(I can't wait to continue our argument now that I have more professional opinions- thanks guys).
But because we've gotten this far why stop?
Now for the summoning methods. (This was also my fault)
To stop this from getting worse I told her I don't know how Link summoning works, and that I think Synchro and Fusion are the strongest. (The look on her face was good)
She says no XYZ summoning is the strongest, then Fusion.
I asked why? What's so good about being able to use an effect twice (and sometimes the effect isn't even good).
She says that (get this) there are cards that can let them use their effect more than twice (some overlay thing).
I said no Jay, look at it logically, it's easy to Fusion and Synchro summon- much easier than bringing out two level sevens for one monster. And there is no limit with using a fusion monster or synchro monster's effect.
She disagrees and I couldn't change her mind. She still believes that XYZ summoning is the best and STRONGEST.
NO IT'S NOT
A big difference between us is that even I can admit the truth with a favourite character of mine. You all know I love Yugo, but that doesn't mean I think he's the strongest duelist. In Arc-V I think it's either Reiji, Zarc (should I count him?) Or Jack Atlas, (he should never have lost to Yuya).
They all have strong ass decks.
The D/D/D archetype is strong, very strong, uses all summoning methods and has the effects and back cards to pull off many combos.
Now I know people have different opinions on this but this was between me and my sister.
Now that I know the truth, I now know she lied to me about number cards and Kaito's deck in particular can beat Reiji.
I honest to god believe that the duel would last a while but in the end Reiji would win- he's smart and calculating, I reckon he'd be able to pull off something that Kaito can't beat.
Imagine her reaction when I told her that one of my favs could beat hers.
Yeah not pretty.
She says Kaito has a number card, and only number cards can defeat another number card. Now I didn't know anything about numbers so I should've known she'd tweak the truth. I had actually told her that what if someone uses a back card to get rid of it?
She said, weren't you listening? Number cards can only be destroyed by number cards!
And because I lacked knowledge in Zexal I couldn't defend myself.
(get this, in duel links she has a cyberse deck and she says she's beaten so many people and that the effects are great. I asked if she wanted to go up against my D/D/Ds. The answer was no, in fact, she has never dueled me, even with the structure decks we bought- I have recently bean collecting cards, remember the Yuma one?)
She likes to think she's a great duelist, and that her fav characters in Yu-Gi-Oh could never be beaten. Well news flash!
They can.
I think this is enough. I hope this kept you entertained (and others), I'll keep you peeps updated in our argument!

Day 8 / Sensation
Fandom: YuGiOh  5D’s
Ship: Angela/Carly
Word Count: 1,080
Rating: T
Tags:   Pre-Canon, Unrequited Crushes, Cussing, Arc V References
Life was unfair. That’s all Carly could think right now. That and: breathe. She really needed to breathe as she bent over herself, hands clamped on her knees, panting horridly to the side of the road because even though she had sprinted, she had arrived too late.
About twenty minutes ago, Carly had been vegetating her car, like usual; feet up on the dashboard, one hand in a bag of chips, and the other on her phone. She had been scrolling Duelstagram, not even with the comfort of air conditioning, just a window down a few cracks and it wasn’t even breezy, cramped and bored and the next, a flash of inspiration! The next big scoop!
She hadn’t gotten a tip or anything. She had just had a brilliant moment of visual recollection. She had pressed play on some video that someone had put on her feed. In the corner of it, the views were rocketing up by thousands by even shorter than the second. It was getting all the likes and all the heart-eyed emojis.
It was a video of some girl with a guitar, cute and country with bouncy gingery coloured hair. She was humming and a strumming with a brilliant voice ringing through the tinny video. Gosh, why did Duelstagram have to ruin video quality like that?
But even so, Carly was certain that this girl, about seventeen at the youngest, was on the brink of being discovered. She was going to be the next country pop sensation to take New Domino.
And Carly wanted to be the reporter to get this street act’s name to the big screen first.
It felt as though everything should be right. She had fate in her corner. Her cards, this morning, had predicted that something sudden would break the drudgery of the day today and this was it!
  This should have been it...
Instead, it wasn’t. It was just the same old same old but Carly. She was the second, or maybe third or fourth or more realistically twenty seventh, person on the field and all she could do was watch, wistful with a breaking heart, as fucking Angela Raines is the one to take the story first and to the top.
Angela thinks she’s all that and a bag of chips. It got on Carly’s nerves, but she drew in closer anyway. The interview seemed to be just about wrapping up.
“Once again, this is Angela Raines,” she said and she dramatically flipped her hand over, towards the girl, “with up and coming singer-songwriter Melissa Claire. Give us an outro, MC.”
“With pleasure, darlin’.” she brightly replied, and she took the request.
She was really good, Carly thought to herself and the acoustic guitar absolved her, at least briefly, of a lot of the pent-up jealousy that she had unto Angela. It was a nice sound, kind of hollow and slow but Carly could drift along to it, unthinking as she watched the cameraman pack up and Angela set aside her newsworthy persona.
Angela’s eyes lit up deviously when she saw Carly spacing out. She walked up to her and pouted.
“Aw, poor thing, shame you weren’t here quick enough.” she teased.
“Oh, break a leg, Angela.” Carly spat.
Angela laughed. “That means good luck, not bad luck, Carly.”
“Whatever.” Carly huffed, crossing her arms against her chest. “One day, you’ll be eating my dust, Angie.”
Angela’s brow twitched and Carly grinned. She knew that hit a nerve. She revelled in how annoyed Angela was, even if she did mask it masterfully.
“I will be seeing you, Carlotta.” Angela said.
She flicked her long, gold hair over her shoulder, irritable, and it was like slow motion. Carly caught a whiff of the shampoo that she used it. It smelt terribly expensive, and heavenly too. Like vanilla and honey and coconut and Carly was in awe of it. In awe of Angela, really. For all their cat fights and petty exchanges, deep down, Carly found it incredibly difficult to be truly mad or hateful towards her.
Angela stormed off so gracefully that Carly couldn’t help but watch. All whilst that acoustic guitar remained somewhere in the background. She sighed and blushed. Even when their exchanges went usually as sour as that one, Carly was powerless to heart’s flights of fancy all the same. She didn’t even have the willpower to yell out to Angela that her name really was just Carly; it wasn’t Carlotta or Carla or even Caroline.
Behind her, the guitar strumming stopped. Not melodramatically or anything but tastefully. Applause followed and caught Carly’s attention once more where she had zoned out thinking about what if... just what if, one day, when everything was going her way, maybe she and Angela could be friends and maybe even more, over champagne and fine clothes but until then, Carly would be dressed like a dag and toting a reusable water bottle full of public hydration station water around.
  It was almost miserable.
Carly sighed again and idly watched as the crowd around her, she wasn’t sure when so many people had drawn in but maybe they had always been here. Merely perturbed by the presence of Angela and her cameraman, not allowed to come in closer until now. These people clapped and Carly felt blessed. This was an important moment for Melissa, over there, and it was a shame that Angela hadn’t stuck around for it.
Melissa Claire took her bows and the crowd began to dissipate. Her stomach rumbled and Carly wondered if she wanted to have beef or chicken instant ramen later for dinner. She turned to leave but Melissa yelled out to her:
  “Oi, Carlotta!” she yelled.
Carly pathetically sighed and shuffled back closer again. “Yes?” she murmured. “Also, my name isn’t actually Carlotta, it’s just-”
“I don’t care. This isn’t a free concert, payin’ customers only, thank you very much, so give me something or else.” Melissa barked at her ruthlessly.
  “Okay...” Carly mumbled.
She reached into her back pocket and gave Melissa what was left of her loose change. It looked like she would have to have unflavoured instant ramen tonight because she was too broke now to afford flavouring.
At least she wasn’t so broke that she couldn’t afford wondering what life will be like when it’s finally fair. When she can sip champagne in a private room and have Angela be nice to her in the process. Until then, Carly could only sigh.

Arc V Anniversary Day 30
Day 30. Post-Canon headcanons/thoughts:
I have a few headcanons for the characters after the events of the series. I already mentioned a few of them in a previous prompt, but Yuya and Yuzu start dating not too long after the finale. The other counterparts soon follow suit, although it takes awhile for Yuri and Serena to develop feelings for each other. Much like Yuya, Yuzu regains more of her memories as Ray. It's only a few pieces and feelings at first, but she is soon able to remember much of her previous life. It does take her awhile to process everything, especially when she was in kind of a limbo spirit state with the other girls after Zarc was defeated, but with the love and support of Yuya, Gongenzaka, Sora and Shuzo, she is able to accept that she is both Yuzu and Ray at the same time. She also takes the time to rework her deck from the ground up to represent all of the Bracelet Girls. It is challenging since their archetypes aren't designed to play together like the Dimensional Dragons are, but she is able to pull it off and eventually becomes a pro duelist as well.
Dennis sets up his own You Show Duel School in Heartland and he effectively becomes the head teacher. Kaito sometimes joins in to help him with lessons, but he's also busy helping to take care of his younger brother Haruto. He doesn't like being too far away from his family after the dimensional war. Ed also joins the school to learn more about Entertainment Dueling, but his main priority is to help rebuild Heartland. It does take a long time for Heartland to be restored and even afterwards, no one in the Xyz dimension feels comfortable seeing Fusion monsters or Polymerization. The scars of the dimensional war run deep, but they are able to enjoy dueling thanks to Yuya and Dennis. Dennis does enjoy meeting up with Yuya, but he is nervous to be around Yuzu at first. He still feels guilty over what he did, especially with Ruri. Both Yuzu and Ruri try to reassure him. Even though they are fused together, the counterparts feel at ease about it. They were originally the same person, so staying fused together with Yuya and Yuzu feels natural for them. It still takes awhile for Dennis to not feel a flood of guilt whenever he sees Yuzu. I don't think that Shun completely forgives Dennis for kidnapping his sister and starting the Heartland invasion, but knowing that both Yuto and Ruri are still alive still helps him to feel more at ease. They can't live together in one dimension like they used to, but they aren't gone forever either. Seeing Dennis' determination to help make the kids in Heartland smile and teach them the values of Entertainment Dueling does help Shun to be more comfortable around him and he agrees to some demonstration duels for Dennis' students from time to time.
It still takes awhile for the City to be completely rid of the Commons and Tops structure of their society, but it is a much better place now that Roger and the Council are long gone. Chojiro goes back to helping kids enjoy dueling and his presence really helps both sides as they struggle to rebuild their society. Crow of course also helps with entertaining the kids, but he always takes extra care of Frank, Amanda and Tanner. They want to become strong Entertainment Duelists as well. Jack also helps with rebuilding their society. He is the former King, but he is still admired and respected throughout the City. Chojiro eventually decides to make his own You Show Duel School with both Jack and Crow as teachers. They eventually become friends, but their relationship is different from how it was in 5D's. Yuya also comes by to duel both Jack and Crow and just hang out together. Jack does eventually meet with the Arc V version of Carly and they become a couple as well.
Leo effectively abolishes Academia. There are still students left there during the finale, but the school is still in ruins after the battle against Zarc and Leo is no longer focused on reviving Ray, so Academia no longer exists. He also decides to remain in Fusion instead of living with his family in Pendulum. After everything Leo did, he didn't think he deserved to be with them and he obviously didn't want to be in charge of another school again. He wanted to spend his time being a scientist again and learning more about the four dimensions. Reiji is perfectly okay with this. Even though Reiji is no longer carrying all of his anger and hatred towards his father, he also doesn't feel comfortable living together with Leo again. Reiji devotes himself almost entirely to raising Reira. He still runs LDS, but he also doesn't want Himika to raise Reira. Even though she felt guilty for how she treated Reira before, Reiji didn't want to risk Himika having a negative impact on her again, so his time is divided between raising Reira and his duties as the CEO of LDS. Yuya does help out as an honorary big brother to Reira and Reiji gives her a new teddy bear to comfort her as well. Asuka, along with all of the other Fusion You Show Duel School students, decided to take over Academia and rebuild it from the ground up. It takes quite some time for the Academia mindset to be completely erased from Fusion, but Asuka is able to show these former child soldiers that dueling can make people happy instead of causing destruction. Sora is happy to see Academia change from a prison to a fun school, but he prefers to live in Pendulum and go to the original You Show Duel School. That is where his first real friends live after all, so he decides to move there permanently and lives right with Yuya and his family.
Shuzo insists that Yusho becomes the head teacher at You Show again, but Yusho doesn't want to take over the position after his friend had done such a great job in his absence. They decide to run the school together, although sometimes Yusho goes to Fusion to check on Asuka. He doesn't leave for too long. Being apart from Yuya and Yoko for all those years was quite hard on him as well, but he also doesn't want to abandon all of his students in the Fusion dimension either. Gongenzaka is still focused on improving his Steadfast dueling, but he'll still frequently come over to You Show to help out. They have a lot more people interested in their school after Yuya defeated Reiji, so the school is often quite busy. Yuya enjoys traveling to different dimensions and meeting up with all of his friends, but nothing makes him happier than being right alongside Yuzu. They can be dueling, talking or walking quietly, but Yuya will still have such a bright smile whenever they're together. That is a big reason why it doesn't take long for them to officially become a couple. Yuya is busy with being a pro duelist, having matches against both Yusho and Jack from time to time and Yuzu has to work on her own efforts to become a pro duelist, but they always make time for each other. They never like being away from each other for too long though. They give each other hugs after they've been away for more than a day. Gongenzaka often joins in because he loves seeing his two best friends be so happy together. After they're older, Yuya and Yuzu eventually get married and become an Entertainment Dueling couple. Yuzu has to take time off when she becomes pregnant, but with so many loving friends and new grandparents to help them out, it isn't too long before she duels right alongside Yuya again. Their children grow up admiring both their mother and father, hoping to make people smile with their own dueling styles in the future.
I also want to thank @arcvanniversary for setting up this month's event. It's been so great to see so many people wanting to celebrate Arc V, especially with this being the fifth anniversary of the series as well. Seeing the different answers for the creative and discussion prompts have been so great. I love having the chance to talk about Arc V and even with all of these responses in mind, I'm not sure if I have been able to capture just how much I love Arc V or what it means to me. I do love seeing more positivity and celebration for the series and I hope that we'll be able to have another event next year.

5, 9, 10.
5. Has a fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
A LOT YEA. But the most notable would Na///lu from fairy tail. Like that was my SHIT back in 2011 but now it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. For three years I couldn’t look up fairy tail spoilers and find the plot BUT Na//lu was all over the place, and my sister got harassed for liking NaLi. tbh I kinda hope Mashima leaves fairy tail opened ended with no pairings ‘confirmed’ so can see the fandom implode lol
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
Hin///ata from Naruto mainly because of her fanbase.
I don’t even remember her fucking name but the love interest from Elfen-Lied who wasn’t Lucy like GOD I never hated a female character more in my life. She added nothing for the plot, LITERALLY WAS JUST THE LOVE INTEREST, got jealous when the main character moved his attention to an 11 year old girl cause she was wounded. So yea, fuck her. Also she and main protag were cousins.
Surprising none from yugioh, like at the end of the day I can’t even say I truly hate any characters even from a certain series (I mean except the ones that were suppose to hate)
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
Fuck ah, the like seven year war arc from Naruto? lol
Like if I managed to finish a series then I didn’t dislike any arc or else I would have dropped (ie I dropped fairy tail and apparently this current has been v shitty)
Seriously, I don’t dislike the XYZ arc from Arc-V, maybe the tournament arc in the second half of 5ds? But my memory is blurry about that. The mess known as season 2 of GX I somehow love a lot.
I mean I didn’t like the filler in the WDC in Zexal if that counts?
Thanks for the ask!!

5, 12, 14 for the ask meme if you're still doing it :)
Sure thing.
5: Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
I don’t believe so. In terms of Yu-Gi-Oh! pairings, I either tend to like some of the more popular pairings and just talk about them with a few people or it’s a rare pairing that maybe five other people like. Either way, the chances of fandom drama ruining is pretty minimal. I still even like puzzleshipping in a platonic sense and that seems to be a common pairing that the fandom has ruined for people. I think it helps in that that I didn’t deal with some of the more problematic aspects of shipping when it comes to DM characters in general. I didn’t become more involved with the online community until either late in GX’s run or right around the time 5D’s started.
I’m pretty sure that I can count the number of Pokemon pairings that I like on one hand, so the fanbase hasn’t affected that for me either.
12: Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
I think that everything past season one of Arc V would apply for this answer. Even though I called the Xyz arc my least favorite arc in another post, I liked it a lot more than I think most fans did. At this point, I’m not sure if really have a least favorite arc in Arc V either given how much I love the whole series and how I genuinely think that there are a lot of good qualities in every arc.
To narrow it down to one arc for this question, I’ll go with Synchro arc. Granted, I don’t know if it’s completely unpopular. The reception was more mixed than anything else during its run, but I genuinely love it and I’d still say it’s my favorite arc in the series. There were so many great duels, the world building was fantastic, I love how they handled Jack and Crow in terms of both characterizations and their role in the story, the pacing never felt slow to me, there were still plenty of episodes important from a story and/or character perspective and there was a lot of good character development. Yuya, Reira and Sora stood out in particular with their development. It isn’t perfect, but I think that the arc gets way more static from fans than it deserves.
I can’t really think of an unpopular arc or series for Pokemon that I like more than the fanbase does.
14: Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
I think that people shouldn’t treat popular/common opinions about the series as facts. This may not be something exclusive to just the Yu-Gi-Oh! fanbase, but I see this happen pretty often. I think it kind of ties into the whole desire to prove which series is objectively the best, which is also something that I dislike. That topic can only lead to more problems. A popular or common opinion about a show isn’t the same thing as a fact. That just ignores how other people can feel differently about them, especially when shows are subjective. Not everyone is going to feel the same way about a particular character or series, regardless of how common the opinions are. Just let people have fun with their favorite series without trying to belittle or insult them about it by saying that they’re wrong for going against the popular opinions.
Thank you for asking. ^_^

3 14 and 15
3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
Yes, but not for yugioh (I follow Good Nuggets).
I unfollowed two pokemon blogs (well one multi and one pokemon) cause they kept complaining about no sinnoh remakes and how nintendo was stupid and BLAH BLAH. So I was like “Peace out, home scouts”
Then I unfollowed practically every Supergirl blog I followed because when season 2 aired they kept saying shit about Superman and how he’d ruin the show and Kara doesn’t need him and how Alex is wayyyy better than him. Like, don’t hate on my dude Clark and yall ate those words and begged from him to come back when Mon-El arrived lol (but no seriously fuck that fandom the amount of White Feminists and Misandry in that fandom was disgusting)
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
ahhhhhh, I think that the Shun x Reiji/Serena/Yuzu discourse is stupid? Post canon Shun x Serena/Yuzu I understand not liking but before that I’m fine with it. And I don’t even get where the hatred / disgusted of Hostageshipping came from lol
 15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?
The Arc-V ending didn’t suck, “Zexal I is shit, the Zexal II is amazing tho,” Judai was only a good character in season 4. Oh yea, I was fine not knowing what happen to Yusei in epilogue in 5ds lol
For manga, that manga!Yuya is better than anime!Yuya, same with the other counterparts except maybe Yuri.
Thanks for the ask!!
