#ThankfulThursday post for all DANCE has meant to me over the years. Being teased for being different, being called "not enough," having my own internal identity issues, and battling my own insecurities growing up, I spent all my elementary years admiring dancers, but only dancing by myself in the safety of my own room. Over time, my head caught up with my heart thanks to loved ones who championed & challenged me forward and inspired me to take a chance on my ideas and embrace more fully who I am. DANCE has since been a vehicle for expression, healing, personal growth, exchanging knowledge & wisdom, uplifting others and allowing others to uplift me, and CONNECTION within and to others. So amidst the busyness of life, today I stop to say THANKS to those who tried to break me down and to those who inspired and uplifted me to breakthrough - BOTH sharpened my knowing of who I am and what I can be. THANK YOU to my family, my friends who are family, @dustin.ripkens , all my dance families over the years: PDP, @KabaModern, @KMLegacy, DVS, Chill Factor, @CultureShockLA, Culture Shock International, @thefannypak , @TheBeatFreaks, @thesyrenz & @Kinjaz. What I do with DANCE and how I treat others will always be a reflection of my love & gratitude for YOU.
