Before he can complain, Chuuya lifts them back up with gravity, putting them back exactly where it was. "I'll buy you more if your pens spoil," he assures, kissing Kunikida again. Kunikida's protests fizzle away as Chuuya kisses him languidly like they have all the time in the world, but when Kunikida places a hand on his chest, pushing him away to catch his breath, and he can feel his heart thundering rapidly. "It's like getting caught excites you," he says with an eyeroll. "Ranpo-san definitely knows you're here, by the way." "Don't care. Tell them I said fuck you, actually." "Yes, baby, I will." Chuuya gives him a scandalised look. "Don't say that, ew!" Kunikida dissolves into giggles, burying his face in Chuuya's shoulder, his chest feeling warm.

24. a sleepy kiss

Chuuya comes home at about six in the morning, dragging his sluggish feet to the bathroom. He makes quick work of washing up, barely getting through a shower and putting on pyjamas before he is shuffling into the bedroom, in search of his comfort place. As the door creaks open, Kunikida stirs from his sleep. Chuuya feels a bit bad, but it’s about five minutes before his alarm anyway. Chuuya leaves the door ajar and crawls into bed, sighing when his weary bones hit the mattress. He’s exhausted. Working overnight is never fun. Kunikida mumbles something unintelligible under his breath, lifting the blanket and draping it over their bodies. He pulls Chuuya in, holding him in his arms, and Chuuya sinks into the warm embrace with a pleased sigh. “Welcoms home,” Kunikida whispers, voice still thick with sleep. His eyes are still closed when he lifts Chuuya’s chin, giving him a gentle kiss. Chuuya reciprocates with barely contained desperation, fists balling into Kunikida’s shirt. He doesn’t know how much this means to him. Chuuya would kiss him more, but he’s interrupted with his own yawn. Kunikida chuckles, running a hand through his hair and kissing his forehead. “Sleep, love. I’ll see you later.” “Don’t go yet,” Chuuya grumbles. Kunikida’s alarm is going to ring any moment now. “Just a little longer.” And Kunikida gives in, because he’s always been weak to his requests when he’s sleepy. He sighs, tightening his hold. “Alright.”

Chuuya carries the last supply box up to the Agency, kicking the storage room door open with their leg. Kunikida is inside doing a stock count, eyes trained on the clipboard in his hands. He doesn't look up at all when Chuuya sets the box down. Just as Chuuya is about to leave, Kunikida leans over. They assume he has something to say and waits, but their world comes to a stop when Kunikida kisses the top of their head softly, patting their back after. "Thank you, Atsushi," Kunikida says while ticking another box on his checklist. "Is that the last one?" Chuuya's voice is missing. They can't seem to find it. The silence makes Kunikida frown. When he looks up, Chuuya sees the exact moment the realisation reaches his eyes. Kunikida steps back in... horror, maybe, bringing the clipboard up to his face. "I—" he begins, and Chuuya does not want to have this conversation right now, nope, they are going to die if they stay in this tiny room with Kunikida any longer. "It's fine," they blurt, taking their own step back. "I, um, didn't mind. Yes, it's the last box. I'll go now. Bye." They dash out the door, ignoring Kunikida calling their name. Their cheeks are flaming as they try to assure themself that that meant absolutely nothing.

Literally nothing, it either hits or it doesn't. I think if I have been thinking about a scene and have a clear picture of the events that I want to accomplish in said scene, and if I can get started, and if there's nothing that I don't understand about the scene, that's the best recipe for writing something. But if there's anything about the scene I am unclear on, or like the scene requires research because I just don't know something, or I haven't thought through the elements of what I want to write, it is just miserable over here.

Sometimes if I light a candle or it's rainy I might be more prone to writing but I really just need to have a good visual on what needs to happen before I can even think about writing it.

🍥 What's your favorite fic you've written?

I love all of them... I want to say right now that overall, Belleview is my favorite story and has some of my strongest writing, but I think this changes with the season and if you ask the same question when I'm in a fighter-heavy period, I'd easily pivot to that. My favorite Fighter pieces include the whipping one and the 28 hours one, my favorite Belleview pieces include the prologue/intro and many of the River ficlets, I love chapter 1 of Derek's back, I have favorite pieces in many of my old fanfics. I don't think I have a top spot overall, but I think I consider my strongest writing (although not necessarily my overall favorite pieces) to be the intros to Derek's Back, Belleview, and the AFTG fic that is simmering. I like an intro it turns out :)

Well right now I want to write a novel but it's really more in the 'this is a thing I want to do' phase and less in the 'this is a milestone I'm working toward' phase.

❤️ Karlach- family headcanon

So, I was originally going to write something here about how we don't know when Karlach's parents died but it must have been before she fell in with Gortash and in fact probably her parents' death is why Gortash was able to get one over on her because she no longer had a support system. But it turns out that's not headcanon! It's expressly articulated in one of the paths in her graveyard conversation!

I'm so smart. ^_^ Also please watch that scene because as usual Samantha Beart's voice acting is heartwrenching. (Also sheesh, Karlach was younger than I thought when she lost her mom. She says her mom died, her dad died several years later, and then gortash got his claws into her. Assuming she worked at least a year or two for Gortash before getting yeeted to the Hells, she must have only been like 14-15 when her mom passed. :( )

Anyway, an actual headcanon, then: Karlach developed her love for the city through her dad. He was a courier, which meant traveling all over the place to talk to different people and seeing all different corners of the city and all walks of life in it. On safe/uncomplicated runs he would take his young daughter with him, and she loved to take in everything, asking about a billion questions and talking to everyone.

♦️ Jaheira - quirks/hobbies headcanon

Jaheira has a banter with Karlach where she mentions playing the tin whistle very badly on occasion. I like to think that she spends more time with this during the rebuilding of the city - not in a very serious way but just as an occasional distraction. Maybe Alfira gives some free music lessons to everyone involved with saving them from destruction. ;)

♒️ Wyll - cooking/food headcanon

Wyll is a former noble, but I think he does know how to cook passably. Ulder was the son of a blacksmith, so they're not blue-blooded, and I doubt Ulder's commitment to his son being properly skilled would have skimped on being able to feed himself. It's very practical knowledge though, not high cuisine, which makes him a bit sad sometimes because his upbringing did also give him an appreciation for good food if not the means to produce it himself.
