Backstory under the cut :)

Laurel Swiftfall didn't remember much about her life before Wizard City. After stumbling out of the Spiral Door in the center of the World Tree with no memory of anything except her name, dressed in a simple green robe and carrying nothing but an empty box and a tall, leafy staff, she found the nearest person, politely asked for a place to stay, and promptly collapsed in the Ravenwood dorms.

After several days of nothing but sleeping and ravenously eating whatever food she could get her hands on, she finally regained enough strength to go outside. She was very fatigued still and couldn't travel very far, but using her staff as a cane, she was able to occasionally walk around the loop of Ravenwood. Though it may have simply been the proximity to her dorm room, she felt particularly drawn to one building in particular - the Life school. Whenever she would go there, she would feel stronger, calmer, and grounded, like something was partly filling a hole inside her soul that she couldn't quite name. She would often sit by the tree outside and read or talk to it, and when she had some energy she would go inside and speak with the professor, Moolinda Wu.

It took several months for her to recover enough to explore outside of Ravenwood and the Commons, but Professor Wu did her best to strengthen Laurel, and taught her some small, basic healing spells, which she picked up quickly. The other professors were quite kind as well, including the strange boy standing near the cracked back half of Ravenwood, but Laurel couldn't quite manage anything beyond the basics. She did start to take longer and longer walks out into the Commons, around the Shopping District, and even into Unicorn Way, bolstered by the occasional minor blessing spell. As she encountered new people and new areas, she started to try out different hobbies that she was able to bring back to her dorm room, like gardening and crafting.

Nothing could really fill the hole inside her, though, that feeling that something was missing - that she had forgotten something big, and important, and meaningful to her. Nor could she dismiss the lurking sense of strangeness and dread in the pit of her stomach.

After she was strong and confident enough to make her way around Wizard City - nearly a full year after her arrival - Headmaster Ambrose sent for her, and asked her to accompany a new student in her travels along Unicorn Way. Laurel had been down the street several times, and had made friends with Ceren Nightchant, a fellow Life student who liked to study at the unicorn statue near the entrance.

When she entered Unicorn Way, she sensed something... off about the area. It seemed almost to be shrouded in a kind of darkness she had never seen before. Even Ceren seemed different... wrong. He didn't greet her in his usual way, and was acting rather strangely when she talked to him. It was almost like he was a whole different person - not the Ceren she remembered, or the one she had befriended.

The only unaffected aura in the whole place was attached to the young wizard Merle had sent her to meet, who was grumpily tapping her foot in the center of the courtyard. She introduced herself as Eurydice Stormveil, a new Diviner at Ravenwood. Brash, bold, and rather cocky, Eurydice was perfectly convinced she didn't need any help from a Theurgist - or anyone, for that matter. Laurel thought she might have been right, as she was able to easily dispatch several of the strange creatures inhabiting the streets of Unicorn Way. As they traversed the overrun paths, Eurydice boasted to Laurel that she had singlehandedly driven off the dark wizard Malistaire, who had shown up during her orientation at Ravenwood. It felt strange to Laurel - she had never met Malistaire, and had only heard of him in passing, but she had an odd sensation that she had encountered him before.

As they quested together - first through Unicorn Way and then through the side streets off of Olde Town - Laurel found it increasingly difficult to focus on the tasks that everyone was asking of her and Eurydice. Whenever they would talk to someone new, she kept getting hit with headaches and increasing waves of feeling that something was *wrong*, like what had happened in Unicorn Way. The streets were overrun by evil creatures, of course, but it was more than that. Laurel could have sworn that it was Suzie Gryphonbane looking for her brother Artur, not the other way around, that the Fire Elves were supposed to be close friends of Private Quinn, and that the missing students were supposed to be held captive by General Akilles. Everything seemed odd, out of place... Laurel was finally remembering things, but she seemed to be remembering them almost... wrong.

As the battles became more difficult, Laurel and Eurydice started to rely on each other a bit more, with Laurel healing Eurydice while she took care of the bulk of the enemies. They started warming up to each other, very slowly, as they helped each other get through tougher battles. After they solved the problems around Wizard City, Laurel was able to show her around and share what she had learned about gardening and crafting. The two of them bonded over fishing, which quickly became Eurydice's favorite past time.

Despite the calm in Wizard City for the moment, Laurel can't shake the increasing desire to figure out what happened to her memories - and she has a nagging feeling that soon, she and Eurydice might need to leave Wizard City behind...

Laurel is a neat case, because she has a lot of scattered memories that don't match up with what's actually happening in Wizard City. (This is almost completely because I played a lot as a kid before they updated the canon and redid some of the character models and voice actors lol). My boyfriend (who is playing along with me, as Eurydice) has never played it before, so my experiences are vastly different from his. I keep randomly blurting out information about the changes that they made to the lore mid-RP, but doing it in Laurel's voice, so I decided that it's canon now lol!

I'm unsure how old she and Eurydice both are, but I'm gonna guess she's probably high school or college age (at least appearance-wise), as is Eurydice.

She doesn't remember it, but she comes from Avalon, and I'm entertaining the idea that she became a fairly powerful wizard there, before getting cast out. (She may have dabbled in a bit of necromancy...)

She also has issues with fatigue and chronic pain from something she doesn't remember, and so she often casts Minor Blessing on herself to ease her symptoms whenever she has to be out and about for long periods of time.

do u have any wiz101 beginner tips!! i just started recently cause it's a very charming mmorpg but after the unicorn way quest it threw so much tutorial and gameplay mechanic at me and my little pea brain cannot keep up, any advice?

AS FOR BEGINNER TIPS... i played the very first arc YEARS ago like a year or two after wiz's first release. i played back in 2011 so everything is like a blur to me- and i do have like. TWO wizards that i made to start fresh with just to see like. how things changed and. YEAH. i see what u mean with how they just kind of throw u at the wolves once ur done with that section

unfortunately i dont have many tips in that regard just because the starting point of the game has changed SO much fundamentally from the time that i played, to now. but i could give u some small things that might make ur life a little easier???

edit: PLEASE ALSO CHECK ALL THE REBLOGS AND THE REPLIES FROM ALL THE LOVELY PEOPLE!!! THEY HAVE ADDED MORE THAN I COULD EVEN THINK TO REMEMBER THEY R THE REAL MVPS!!!!

find a friend who can trade u monstrous TC (treasure cards)!! they're additional spell cards you can add onto your deck that upon use get used up, but monstrous comes super in handy because they boost your damaging spells DMG by a big amount. it'll make the slough of early game much quicker.

WHILE UR DOING UR main scenario quests, look around at the side quest in the area!! i never did this growing up but it dawned on my now how crazy smart this is LOL a lot of side quests will be like "hey wizard go beat up these things for me pleaseeeee" and you can sync up ur quests along with ur sidequest and they'll both count. literally a win-win

the further u go on in the game, u should keep ur deck smaller- less spells means more likely to pull what u need in that moment means less prolonged battles that go on for longer than they need to. ALSO LEARN RESHUFFLE its a balance spell and you learn it in krokotopia. CORRECTION YOU LEARN IT IN COLOSSUS BLVD FROM MILDRED FARSEER (THANK YOU @/divine-deer!!!!) literally worlds most op spell in the game love it

there's some side content that the game throws at u randomly. iirc, theres grizzleheim starts at level 20 and then you keep getting called back there until u reach 45 (that's for wintertusk, highly recommend for that level!!) wysteria, lvl 25 i believe there's the underwater section in wizcity sewers in olde town aquilla (HIGHLY rec doing this for the sky iron hasta, that bad boy will carry you to lvl 100 LOL) and much much more. i know there's more but I'm literally forgetting because there's so many side worlds

when in doubt. just look up whatever you're dealing with and add reddit on the end. i don't like reddit but damnit those mfs have ALL the answers for literally anything

Jasmine has had the weight of the Spiral on her shoulders since before she was a teenager. Plucked out of her average, Earthly school existence and dropped into the world of the Spiral, she eagerly tackled her new duties from Headmaster Ambrose with tidy efficiency. Through her first several years in Wizard City, she made it a point to spend time helping out each and every person she could, on every street she was able. She particularly enjoyed spending time with Lady Oriel and Ceren Nightchant in Unicorn Way, as well as hearing stories from Baldur Goldpaws in Olde Town, and one of her fondest memories was of breaking the curse on Feebo the Fire Elf. (She went to every performance of his at the Fireglobe Theatre after that day.)

By the time she was fifteen, she was finally allowed to travel from the safety and familiarity of Wizard City to the sandy world of Krokotopia. She had dutifully helped every member of Wizard City that she was able, and by Bartleby she would do it again in Krokotopia! As a parting gift (who knows from whom), she was gifted a pair of red dragon wings. They sort of just showed up in her dorm room one day, happily flapping about, and settled in on her shoulders whenever she decided to go outside, seemingly delighted to zoom her around to different places.

She left Krokotopia nearly two years later, more than happy to shake the sand out of her boots and eat something that wasn't tinged with a faint crunch of desert seasoning. Marleybone was a delightful change of pace, and she rather enjoyed meeting Sherlock Bones and visiting the Royal Museum. With all the money she'd gotten from questing, she even was able to save up enough money for her own little place - a nice little cottage with a quiet clearing for her to sit, and plenty of room for her wings to flap around and play.

Partway through solving the mystery of Meowiarty and saving Marleybone - nearly four years after she left Wizard City - she realized that Malistaire hadn't really made any significant progress on his diabolical evil plan. What was up with that, anyway? (Seems like everyone else she talked to had the diabolical-plan-stopping pretty well in hand, she presumed).

So, she resolved to travel the Spiral instead, visiting with her old friend Baldur Goldpaws and hitching a ride to Grizzleheim, as well as entering in a neat little inter-school dueling contest in Wysteria. After a while of Spiral-hopping, she decided she should probably stop procrastinating her proper World-Saving Non-Class-Work. With the help of some fellow wizards here and there, she beat Meowiarty at his own game, quested through Mooshu, and challenged her own professor for entrance to Dragonspyre. (A battle which she *definitely* won first try.)

Now a disgruntled college-age student and proud homeowner of a little slice of Hrundle Fjord (gifted to her by one Mr. Goldpaws), Jasmine runs on primarily coffee and the random, never-emptying plates of food that show up in her house on occasion. It's a peaceful life, at least (when she's not getting her butt kicked by [insert enemy here]). She got her dragon wings a friend (a pair of constellation-raven wings), and they're often seen chasing each other around the yard of her house.

After a long, hard-fought venture through the world of Dragonspyre, culminating in an epic and long-awaited thrashing of Malistaire Drake, she was able to finally finally kick back and relax, knowing that the day had been saved, and that there were definitely no more evil bad guys lurking in some far off corner of the Spiral.

...or so she hoped.

When Halston Balestrom tapped her to go explore the long lost city of Celestia a few months after her defeat of Malistaire, she had some albeit brief concerns about how involved she might become in some strange, conspiratorial plot. This expedition kind of thing was how it always started - someone poking their nose into something they shouldn't. But Jasmine had to admit, rumors of lost astral magic had piqued her interest, so she went regardless. As she had hoped, she began to learn a great deal about ways to empower her spells and strengthen her abilities. The Astral Archive quickly became a favorite, quiet place of respite in the chaos of the expedition, and she found herself lingering there in spite of herself. Perhaps she had missed doing her studies after all - it was a comfortable place to be, even with all the patrolling Pisceans about.

While she was studying one afternoon, an urgent message from Baldur Goldpaws arrived, telling her of dire news from Grizzleheim, about a coven of ravens attempting to bring about the Everwinter. Concerned for both her home and her friends, she left Celestia at once to see how she could help...

how are charles's chances at the wdc this year, in your honest opinion

hm. i'm not sure, especially since we don't know what improvements the upgrades in imola will bring. he's p3 in the championship rn and i definitely think that ferrari and mclaren will be red bull's biggest challengers throughout the year, but i don't think he will win the wdc, as much as i would love that. i hope we at least get to see a charles win this year as well as some good fights. i can totally see a max, charles and lando top 3 at the end of the year?? i think, i'm very unsure about all of this as it's my first full season watching the sport lol.
