CREATOR TAG: BEFORE AND AFTER COLORING tagged by @hyungheons ⭐︎ thank you, n!
i’m going to tag some of mx creators i love seeing on my dash @floweredmp3, @slowrabbitpd, and @theleeminhyuk if they want to give this tag a go!
i’ve been giffing for almost nine years now, and my style’s definitely changed a lot since then. i used to gif a lot of sitcoms and animes, but i always come back to mx bc i love how varied the kpop gif style is!
these days, i really like playing around with colors. i’m still fond of more “natural” sets that just add some brightness and depth, but i’ve learned to love and appreciate the complexity that more colors and vibrancy brings to the table. the mxcolors birthday series i did in 2021 remains one of my favorites just because it was so challenging and fun to see what combinations of adjustment layers i could use to match each color theme.
i usually use around 10-15 layers, with a major emphasis on selective color and gradient maps. channel mixer is a relatively new layer i learned how to use last year, which is where so many of the teals and pinks you see in my gifs come from!
i have a severe love–hate relationship with performance gifs bc i love working with ts files since you can get such clear, crisp gifs, but also you have to worry about flashing, bad camera work, and choreography that doesn’t translate very well. i used to struggle a lot with perf sets, but giffing so many fantasia stages taught me a TON.
compared to how i colored my gifs last time i did this tag, i definitely think my sets have become much more interesting! giffing is one of my most favorite things to do, and i love seeing what our little community of creators creates <3
