Merry X-Mas from your favourite evil men!
And a merry late xmas to @molo-tovi!! For the stobotnik secret Santa, they said if I had an au, to draw a Christmas picture for it, so here’s my catboy jimbotnik au during the holidays!
Ivo is the same old evil genius we all know and love, but that cat like personality is actually quite literal! Being a little more… physically affectionate although stubbornly so, he can’t help himself from coming up behind his Agent and nuzzling into him. Perhaps even whisk him into a dance to one of those dreadfully sappy Christmas songs. Frankly he’d never cared much for the holidays before Stone, that he’d admit anyways, but now it holds a rather special place in his heart and you may even catch him in silly matching sweaters with his Agent. (Ivo’s says ‘Santa Claws’ with a kitty cat, by the way!)
It was a promise to himself as well, Ivo proposed to Stone on Christmas Day, and newly engaged, they’d spend the night curled up by the cozy fireplace, Stone stroking the soft ears atop his head, peaceful for once in their hectic lives.

Chapter 4 of the thing I wrote nearly killed me..
All jokes aside This chapter pushed my mental boundary to Jew heights because it just wasn’t working. I do apologize about the late night update I swear I thought I could have it uploaded at like 8 but the volume kept making ao3 glitch and I lost the right formatted work 3 times, but it up now and I hope you enjoy!
To all my lovelies who commented on previous chapters I adore you, you are everything, and frankly, every comment and word and suggestion made me smile and do a happy dance, and I cant wait to hear what you thought about this chapter, it is the longest yet.
I always adore hearing from you, let me know what you think of the pace of our story is it going well, is too slow? Also, does Musa's interest seem genuine or are we creeping along too slowly. One point of clarification the said alfea college and Im going to write them like college kids so 18/19.
The next chapter is some of my absolute favorite parts of the story and I think next chapter we will also introduce Riven's perspective a little. Was our main hero too soft, too raw did I get him right? I feel like I finally have Musa’s voice down pack but the redemption arc of a fuckboy it's a little trickier.
As always thank you for reading and don't forget to review, Cheers-GQ2000

Fate Episode Two
Last time on Fate: Silva was surprisingly interesting, Stella was surprisingly pitiable, and Terra was surprisingly badass. What surprises await in episode two?
In which we have a magic class.
Promising start, Silva and Dowling walking in beautiful Irish landscape, talkin’ worldbuilding! The “Blackwoods massacre.” Silva killed thirteen, or at least helped kill thirteen.
They’re going to check on the Burned One they have doped to the gills and locked up in a shed. Dowling is going to read its mind and hopes to find it’s the only one around. Dowling crouches down by the Burned One and her eyes glow silver. So she’s a Mind Fairy like Musa, I guess. She gets flashes of the Burned One killing the shepherd and chasing Bloom.
But WE know Beatrix came and woke this Burned One up, so we weren’t surprised when it leaps for the grownups!
Opening sequence! Still good music.
Bloom waking up. Aisha’s already been up for hours. Aisha suggests, “get up! Be excited! Today you get to learn to use your magic!”
Waking up montage! Musa and Terra being friendly. Terra asks Musa if she can detect lies or “social niceties” heh. A sensible question, Terra! But Mua’s not a lie detector, just emotions. But it seems like she can feel every single emotion Terra feels in realtime, which… how would you LIVE? How far is her range, if it’s just the closest person the school should’ve giver her her own room, if it’s all the girls how has she not gone completely barmy by now?
And of course Musa isn’t a walking lie detector, this show is going to have a “but who summoned the Burned Ones” plot and lie detection would mean no Plot!
Terra’s changind in the bathroom and Aisha comes in and sits down on the toilet just right in front of her and then strips and hits the shower also right in front of her. O_o Terra flusters and looks away, clearly full of shame about her own body compared to Aisha’s. Poor Terra. Aisha seems oblivious, she just asks if anyone’s seen Stella.
Cut to Stella walk of shame coming in.
Musa: ‘That outfit looks similar to yesterday’s. Same designer?”
Buuuurn! Ok, that’s mean but after Stella’s “they expect me to care about how I look” last episode Musa is kinda delivering karma here.
Bloom hears them talking and comes out of her room to say the Burned One took the portal ring. Stella’s upset. Musa: “Calm down, princess.”
Yep, Stella’s a princess! “My mom is the queen and the ring you lost is one of the crown jewels of Solaria. That might not mean much to a First Worlder so feel free to ask your suitemate how much of a screwup that is!”
Aisha brings the logic: “Almost as big as giving it to her in the first place.’
They say Dowling has the Burned One locked up, if it was loose in the First World even for a little while that’d be a disaster. Stella dribbles the idiot ball saying nobody should tell dowling about the ring, she’ll figure out what to do after class. “and can someone make sure Terra knows that? She can never keep her mouth shut.” and Stella opens the door and there’s happy Terra squirming into a vest that looks like it doesn’t fit but sunny as a daisy.
Cut to Beatrix with her hair down walking up some stairs. She’s going to Dowling’s office again, to “see if she needs an escort” down to the stone circle where the first-year class is being held. But obviously she really came hoping nobody would be there so she could snoop. Also, beatrix has an interesting pendant that might be magic or not. I don’t think they had a big prop budget in this show; the portal ring wasn’t much.
Outside Iiiiiireland! Green! Waterfall! And here’s the stone circle! it’s not very big, the stones are low and the dolmens are actally seats. The first year class is less than twenty people, though we do see a few of fate’s minor fairies in the shot. Dowling has “the vessel’ a big silver dish, maybe two foot wide. Beatrix could’ve been trying to get her hands on that too.
Dowling teaches: “Magic lives in the very fabric of nature. And here in our circle of stone it’s magnified. The vessel tests your ability to channel that magic. Further down the line you may learn to connect with other elements but your first year is all about the element you were born with...”
And here the girls show off their powers as in the trailer.
“Earth. Soil, sand, rock, and all manner of plant life.” terra looks so happy as she coaxes ivy vines up.
“Water. The lakes and oceans of the world, or the molecules that exist in all organisms around us.’ So could Aisha do bloodbending? Or pull water out of a person ‘til they drop from dehydration? How dark is this show gonna go?
“The mind. Thoughts, memories, dreams.” Poor Musa just holds a bubble of ripply air and her eyes glow purple. They could at least have given her some glowy lines around her eyes like Psyloche or Jean Grey in her pre-fiery incarnations. And yeah, “mind” instead of ‘spirit’ for the sixth element it does WORK it just...
“I know! Let’s base magic on the traditional magical elements! That’ll be a fresh new take!” Said every fantasy showrunner ever. Smh. One of the cool things in Winx was that it opened way more possibilities. Telekinetic-flute Musa would’ve been more fun than this Musa whose power so far just makes her and Terra’s roommate life difficult. I hope there’s good plot reason for it all later.
“Air. Speed, temperature, sound, its power. And electrical properties.” Beatrix stretches lightning between her hands and smirks and sideeyes like the villainess she thinks she is. So is Beatrix The Flash? Can she create phantom sounds, maybe mimic voices? Freeze people? Be nice if she could freeze people, give her one of Icy’s tricks. And if she can throw lightning… uh, that’s a lot of powers for one person. Who is a baddie.
“Whatever your element, the emotions underlying it are the same for all fairies.”
Bloom gets up to take her turn. Her eyes flame up but she’s not getting much more than sparks. The other students look at each other and snicker. Dowling says, ‘focus on clear, positive feelings.” and Aisha like a bonehead says, ‘What about your parents? Focus on how much you love them?” Aisha, not ten minutes ago in this episode Bloom told you she was trying not to have feelings about this changeling thing. You’re an idiot.
Bloom says it’s not working. Dowling says feel don’t think, and Musa singsongs something to Aisha that I couldn’t catch after rewinding 3 times. Finally Bloom just says, ‘It’s not happening, can we please move on?” and we cut to class being over and they’re all leaving.
Bloom says to Dowling, ‘I’m either on the verge of killing everyone or I can barely light a match.” Dowling says she just needs a clear mind, “Distraction can cause magic to be erratic.”
And then Dowling says, “So we have exercise classes, meditation classes, and I’ve signed you up to talk with a specialist fairy councilor to help you figure out your relationship with your parents...” oh wait, no she doesn’t. She turns away.
Bloom bursts out, ‘Am I a changeling?” and says how Aisha told her. Dowling’s face confirms it. ‘i didn’t want to burden you with too much too quickly.
Bloom: “So instead you let me learn from teenagers, the most gentle and reliable sources of information.’ Ahahahaha! Love it! So self aware.
Dowling admits that was not ideal, then snaps at Bloom when she says, ‘Ya think?” Bloom deflates. She asks who her real parents are but Dowling doesn’t know. Just, ‘Come to class every day, you focus, you learn, you grow. Eventually the answers will come.” She turns away.
Bloom: “Cryptic and vague just like everything else in this place.” Iknowright? I’m starting to feel less like Dowling is sus and more like Dowling is just a bad teacher. Why was there no, “And I will help you find out.’ Dowling suspects Bloom is a very important changeling and knows her magic can be very destructive, why isn’t she working harder to get Bloom what she needs to become an emotionally put-together nondangerous fairy?
We go from here to the Specialists doing martial arts! Sky and Riven are watching Dane and a girl face off. Apparently last year Riven was kind of a hopeless case until sky befriended him.
Sky goes off to see Stella, who’s coming over, and Riven gets up to creepy-flirt with Dane. Apparently Dane accidentally putting a like on one of Riven’s sexy pics is something that could ruin him before the whole school? I guess it could out him. There is something sexual in Riven’s menacing, he’s sitting right next to Dane with their faces close together.
And then Riven un-creeps completely and starts giving Dane advice about “chose your friends wisely, focus. Being a good specialist is about strategy not how big and strong you are.” then he calls a big specialist named Mikey over for a bout and takes him down handily. He turns to Dane with a big wholesome grin, “You see?”
Uh. I guess Riven is your standard perv; when he’s not being creepy he’s very likeable. Makes you want him to not be the kind of guy he so clearly is.
Over with Sky, Stella’s asking him where they might keep the Burned One. Sky says he’ll break out the maps, and suggests they tell Dowling. But Dowling took an oath to the queen, and if the queen found out Stella lost the ring… Stella looks teary-scared. What of, exactly? She hugs Sky and maybe it’s just my pity for this poor washed-out Stella but I do get the vibe that she’s not being a queen bee, she’s scared and Sky is helping her and it’s not about romance. Then silva comes over and she covers it up with, “so just let me know about the Celtic runes quiz when you find out. Thanks Sky.”
Huh. Using earth runes for Otherworld magic. I feel an extra post about this comin’ on.
Stella leaves. Silva doesn’t even have to give Sky a look, Sky says, ‘you don’t have to lecture me, I’m lecturing myself for it in my head.’ Heh. And Silva says, ‘My guess is you would ignore your own lectures as well.’ Hah! And they have a great little teacher-student chat. Silva promised Sky’s dad to look after him, and the famous Andreas of Eraklyon would’ve said the same thing but with more profanity. Heh.
Is Sky’s dad dead? I got the vibe he died in the last magic battle with the Burned Ones but I don’t think they’ve actually said it. Anyway, good lil scene there, show!
We go now to Bloom’s room where she has, ooh! A spell book! Of Celtic runes! It’s a fat book, and ok I only know the Norse runes but there’s only 24 of ‘em and you could maybe squeeze out a few pages of meanings and uses for each one plus readings and ok if you added lots and LOTS of spells... And the Celts didn’t use runes, strictly speaking, they used the Ogham alphabet which is basically runes being an alphabet of straight lines but it does have its own name.
Her other book is called Magical Flora and Fauna.
While she unpacks these books from her bag Bloom is on the phone with her mom. Bloom describes her roommate as, ‘Perfect. Overachiever, athlete, morning person...’ and mom says, ‘and you get to spend so much time with her...” just savoring it, but in a joking way. This conversation was very sweet. And Bloom’s mom has a watch set to Switzerland time so she knows it’s time for Bloom to go to bed. that’s really sweet. It’s clear Bloom’s parents do love her, but how regular were meltdowns like the one that set the house on fire? Like Riven, people can be both great people and horrible people.
And they are so unlike Mike and Vanessa that I’m not calling them Mike and Vanessa. Fate clearly didn’t mean for them to be the same characters.
Late afternoon outside. Beatrix approaches Riven and enlists him to break into Dowling’s office because he seems like a “proper delinquent.” and also “because you’re a guy and I’m hot.” Pfft! Uh. Go, Beatrix? Own your power? “Or did I underestimate the depth of your character?” Heh. Beatrix heads off without waiting for Riven’s answer.
In the cafeteria Aisha and Musa get dinner. Aisha is wearing a bright yellow ankle-length skirt what is with the costumes in this show! At least Musa’s got her appropriately colored red jacket. She talks about her power being always on and how that makes crowded places a nightmare, and reads some people’s minds. Then she reads one guy’s mind and meaningful music plays. What is this?
They go sit with Terra and Bloom and Aisha is again on the ball trying to help Bloom figure out her emotions so she can control her magic because she’s worried bloom’s too distracted by the changeling thing. And yeah everybody knows about that now.
Terra: “Oh is that why you were freaking out about the vessel that makes so much sense because that’s about the easiest assignment we’ll have aaaaand I’m making it worse.” Musa had to signal Terra to shut up, but good save. The girls are being nice to each other, I like that. Aisha is epically bad at the skill of helping, but she is trying to help. Gee, if only there were school councilors who had studied the skill of helping!
Stella and Sky come over with a map of Alfea and Terra starts pointing out all the locations and starts a story from her childhood and even Stella’s glare won’t shut her up.
Sky sits down by Bloom and asks if she’s ok after last night. “I think you’re freaking out and pretending you’re not.”
Poor Stella can’t decide who she hates more, chattering Terra or talkin’-to-my-guy Bloom! Hope Stella gets her head on straight about Sky soon. After Musa and Riven in season 8 my eyes have run out of roll. 9_9
They figure out the likliest place for the Burned One to be chained up and Stella says, “We just have to go there and get my ring.” But Musa and Aisha say this isn’t a “we” problem, more of a “you” problem. Stella pulls out her worst side and says to Bloom, “But ‘I’ didn’t lose it.” and Bloom’s down to go. Even knowing she has no control over her magic. But the Burned One is chained up and drugged with some oil that Terra’s father makes. Called Zambak or something. They can maybe get some more. that’s sensible. Nasty Stella says, ‘thank you Terra, thank you Bloom for taking responsibility, and everyone else thanks for… nothing.’ and smirks and gathers up her map.
Yeesh, Stella’s catty!
Also, how do they know Dowling and Sliva haven’t already searched the Burned One? Do Burned Ones have pockets? And Burned Ones carry a disease that kills you if you get scratched by one, so is it even safe to touch them at all? Does Stella have a plan for a magical hazmat suit or something? Have y’all really thought this through?
I think Bloom stealth rolls her eyes at the cattyness, and then she goes outside. To what looks like a hedge maze with a pond where IS this place? Sky follows and says, ‘You don’t have to go along with what Stella says just because she’s got a strong personality.” But Bloom’s mind is made up which makes her also a strong personality.
Sky awkwardly explains he dated Stella last year and they had a rough breakup, trying to set out his situation for Bloom so she won’t think he’s ‘that guy’ but Bloom sensibly points out they only met yesterday and she already has enough complication in her life.
Meanwhile our conspirators are working out Dowling’s schedule in a library somewhere. Riven knows already! Dowling’s secretary is named Callan.
And Riven is trying soooo hard to prove he’s a bad boy. Hood up, pouring booze from a decanter, saying he smokes weed with his vape. If you gotta try that hard, you have already failed.
Beatrix meanwhile is petting the books. She’s not after test answers, she’s beyond the stuff they teach. She wants secrets. “the history of this place is a lot darker than Dowling an the rest of the faculty want us to know.’
Riven: “So wait you’re like some hot fucked-up history nerd.’ Heh.
And Beatrix comes over and sits on Riven and the camera thankfully doesn’t make us watch them making out!
Musa’s in the cafeteria, she detects that guy again. She follows him-- to a closed door.
Bloom’s gone back to the stone circle! The vessel is still there, which seems stealable, and we see it’s full of crystals. Bloom opens her red notebook and we see her notes “clear mind = emotional control + stronger magic” and “positive magic > lasts longer.” But just as she starts trying to summon fire…
“I hear you’re broken. In more ways than one.” Stella, that was mean and that costume does nothing for you. Are long skirts in style in Italy? Heck, they could be in style in America for all I know, I haven’t seen other people in ten months.
Stella briefly acts nice, telling Bloom her notes are the problem magic has to come by feel. Then she turns and starts a mocking list of things she thinks Bloom might have listed as sources of positive emotion. Then Stella goes for the changeling thing, and pushes Bloom to use her rage to call fire. Bloom summons fire and jumps back. Stella says, ‘What? You think you’re done?” So Stella is going to just abuse Bloom to get her magic working? Great, just great. Ugh. I suppose later on she’ll say, “It had to be done, we didn’t have time for you to figure it out the normal way.’ and that’ll be fine and nobody will punish Stella for creating a danger to herself and the whole school.
Also, Stella goes for “worthless changeling” which ok anything will be nasty in that voice but what’s wrong with being a changeling? not like Bloom had any say in what her parents did when she was just born. And Aisha called it barbaric… was changeling-swapping used for some awful purpose back in ancient times that created a stigma? What? I sense worldbuilding, and Fate you’d better deliver!
Or there is no stigma to being a changeling and Stella’s just poking Bloom where it hurts. Or if Stella knows about the mysterious Rosalinda she may have put the dates together and realized Bloom could be the daughter of the great heroine and destined for main-characterhood. And Stella may be getting jealous.
Also 2, Stella’s basically using Sith philosophy. Didn’t you ever see Star Wars, Stella? Heck, maybe she has and she’s doing it on purpose.
Also 3, I may need to do a separate post about magic and emotion. It’s easier to get to angry from happy than to happy from… anywhere. it’s just how brains work. So everybody ever would discover rage works better and… I don’t even know where the worldbuilding would have to go from there.
Ok. That was a lot of thoughts and my mid-episode break on a Friday night. (dinner, watched some Classic Doctor Who, wrote some fanfic, went to bed, got up, wrote more fanfic, walked my pokemons, and here we are again.) We rejoin the episode at definitely-night at Alfea. Dowling has no lighting in her office. Silva comes in saying the other realms have had zero Burned Ones sightings. Silva wants to move the Burned One to the queen’s prison before the students start trying to find it. Silva is a sensible guy. (also his first name is Saul, which I learned already on Tumblr. I’m not the only one who thinks he’s a good character it seems.)
And I guess Dowling goes along with it because here come 3 black SUVs from the queen’s army, lookin’ very Jurassic Park as they roll across the fields. No roads around Alfea I guess. Doomful music plays. I think something very Jurassic Park is about to happen to these poor guys…
Also, it’s day when before it was night. Is it the next day? A few days on? Time & lighting in this show!
The soldiers stop when they see a dark figure, but it’s just someone in a cloak. There’s a growl…
The girls waking up! I guess it’s the morning of day 3 now. Aisha makes her bed as Bloom snoozes away. Aisha sees Bloom’s notebook, conveniently left open to Bloom’s notes about “Is Stella right that I should use hatred and fear?” Aisha is concerned that her roommate is considering the ways of the Sith.
She talks to Musa about it on the way to (I presume) breakfast. Bloom and Stella were ouit late last night. But Musa thinks Aisha is just jealous that Bloom and Stella may be becoming friends. And Musa’s eyes glowed so I guess that’s what Aisha was thinking? Aisha changes the subject to the boy Musa’s chasing. Musa says she senses him behind her but there’s nobody there… then he Kitty Prydes it in through the wall. ‘Mystery solved. Earth fairy.” and Aisha just calls him over and introduces the two of them and says Musa’s been stalking him. As Musa quietly swears hatred to Aisha’s children unto generations, but is kind of laughing too. Musa turns and Sam says, ‘Lucky me.” and Aisha leaves them to get acquainted.
We go to Terra in the greenhouse where she’s doing planty things and teaching Dane chemistry. They have pipettes in the Otherworld, and they’re called pipettes. Dane has a glass chemistry apparatus. Is he doing chemistry or potions? ‘Cause they are two different disciplines!
Terra coaxes a flower from a bud with her magic, and Dane says it’s cool. Cute scene.
Interrupted by Riven texting to ask if Dane is training or busy picking flowers.
More cuteness, Dane teases Terra asking if she’s making drugs, apparently meth exists in the Otherworld too, and Terra tells him about the anti-Burned One oil she’s making. Dane is helping with preparation while Terra does the magic bits.
Riven sends a picture of someone picking petals off a flower and Dane says he has to go. Poor Terra is abandoned.
Riven is in a dark room smoking. He shows Beatrix his phone and she says, ‘Homophobic gay-bashing via gif. Truly you’ve reached your peak clever.” Riven explains he doesn’t care if Dane is gay, he wants to make him less lame. Well-intentioned bullying. That is weirdly thought-out, Riven.
Sky comes in so I guess we’re in Sky and Riven’s dorm. Beatrix offers him her vape pen and he declines. Riven isn’t worried about having a girl in the boys’ dorm because Silva went off to meet the soldiers coming for the Burned One. Beatrix knows Sky is dating Stella and asks if it’s weird having sex with someone who looks just like him and I snicker. Sky is unmoved.
Beatrix heads off to the library and Sky says, “I don’t have time to tell you all the reasons that is a bad idea.” Riven just waves it off.
Over with Bloom and Aisha, Bloom’s trying to write a paper when Aisha interrupts to spill the beans about seeing the notebook and says Stella’s “methods are unreliable” and she’s maybe not the best magic teacher. Bloom just focuses on “you read my notebook?” and asks Aisha to stop trying to help.
Stella arrives in that big olive coat to say the Burned One is about to be moves, their mission needs to happen now. The coat is something the real Stella would never wear in a million years, but I find myself approving of a practical choice in adventure wear.
Sam and Musa are chatting happily. Sam is trying to guess what he sounds like in Musa’s head. Guess she heard emotion as music. Musa says he sounds like “an absence of chaos.” And sam describes his power which he calls “boring through anything natural.” I’ll just call it phasing because obviously.
Terra texts Musa for help in the greenhouse. I do believe we’re leaping into action.
Stela, Bloom and Aisha stride across the grounds. Aisha calls Stella “Army Barbie” so wait they have Barbie dolls in the Otherworld? How does that work, pallets of dolls get spirited away from the Mattel factory? Stella spends a long time saying Aisha was not invited. But Aisha is coming along, they need her.
Stella: “I fixed her.”
Aisha: “Negative emotions are unreliable. They have limits. Your method won’t help her in the long run.”
Bloom points out neither of them are helping at the moment. Stella and Musa arrive and the five of them cross the barrier to go find the Burned One.
They find the barn quick, but the Burned One is already gone. Stella again sounds teary and holds the chains saying “No, my mum’s going to kill me...”
Musa gets a bad vibe and she and Terra follow it. Suddenly Musa is struck down by a blast of empathic pain. Ah crap, here are the soldiers, very dead! Oh good, Silva is just grievously wounded.
But Bloom lagged behind at the barn. Aisha and Stella go look for her while Terra and Musa hopefully save one of the three adults in the cast.
Bloom is wandering through the forest, summoned by magic one assumes because this is a bad time to wander off.
Yikes, poor Silva is infected with Burned One venom and not in his right mind! Luckily Terra takes charge, vines the guy up before he can stab them, and tells Musa, ‘He’s scared, I’m not. Focus on me.” the anti-Burned One oil will help with the infection.
Aisha and Stella follow Bloom through the dark forest. Stella tries to summon light but can’t make it work and Aisha says, ‘I don’t have time for this, go back to school.” and walks off. So the three of them are now separated.
And there’s the Burned One! It runs at Bloom, who sends fire at it. Even being on fire doesn’t slow it down but Aisha sends a wave that tosses it into a tree, impaling it through the chest on a branch! The girls creep in for a closer look and they see Stella’s ring, that the Burned One has buried in its flesh! We don’t see that. The girls waffle about who should pull it out-- did none of you bring a pocket knife? A stick? Don’t touch the highly infectious monster! But Bloom reaches in with her actual hands and grabs the ring and they flee.
Stella did go back to school. She finds Sky and tells him what happened, that the Burned One got loose. Sky immediately goes from, “How?” to “How are you?” making him a class A good dude. Stella begins to cry and says her magic wouldn’t work. Sky says, “Tell me everything.” when below in the cafateria Musa and Terra enter with the injured Silva. Terra takes charge, ordering medical help and for Dane to come help them get Silva to the greenhouse. I guess there’s no infirmary here? Maybe all the medicines are potions. Beatrix runs to get Dowling and Sky and Stella rush down to help.
And we learn Sam is Terra’s brother.
Beatrix rushes into Dowling’s office, tells the news, and Dowling and Callan rush out. Leaving Beatrix right where she wants to be. She lightnings up her hands and Dowling’s secret passage slides right open for her.
Down in the greenhouse Terra’s dad Harvey says, ‘You saved his life, I’m so proud of you.” and Terra glows. Silva is battered but himself again and tells Sky he’ll be fine and sends the students out before telling the adults the real news. The Burned One was freed and waiting for them.
Beatrix can’t get through the secret door. There’s a barrier on it. Dowling’s assistant Callan comes in and catches her, but he’s a baddie too! He says turning loose the Burned One was a good distraction but he can’t get through the trap on the secret door because he’s not a fairy and that’s why “he” sent Beatrix.
The plot thickens! A mysterious boss-villain has emerged! And Beatrix, that is a lot of lipstick.
Evening of day 3, getting ready for bed in the dorm. Terra texted, Silva will be ok but they should prepare for a lecture. But bloom’s more interested in teasing Aisha about her toothbrush.
Stella turns up and says while the others were in the woods she was covering for them at school and Bloom should be grateful. Which is a total lie. Bloom returns the ring, joking about what she had to do to get it and Stella says right over her, ‘let;s never talk about this day again.” and leaves.
Sky arrives. And looks at Bloom, then goes into Stella’s room. The door shuts behind them with great finality.
So… does “being turned on” count as an emotion for the purposes of magic? That would make the worldbuilding very odd indeed. We’d have the Sith and the… hmm… Bacchanates? Supposedly followers of Bacchus who ran around drinking, having orgies, and tearing apart small animals with their bare hands in the lust of the hunt. They probably didn’t exist in our world, but in the Fate world they’d make sense.
Also would people with mental illnesses have stronger magic? Bipolar mania is a heckofathing from what my psych textbooks say.
Anyway Bloom and Aisha talk before going to bed, Aisha apologizes for helping too much, says it’s all new to her too. Bloom says she wandered off from the barn because she felt something. “a connection to that thing.” She talks about how she’s kind of given up on understanding but, “opening up emotionally the magic’s all around me. And that’s new and kinda scary.”
A meaningful silence falls, and when Aisha looks over Bloom’s eyes have gone blank white!
Boring ending music this time. i guess the themes from this episode are 1) lots of characters do really awful things and also likeable things. either this show has nuanced characters or it doesn’t know what the heck it’s doing with its characters. I’m not sure. and 2) Has this magic=emotion thing really been thought through?

WINX REDUX AU SUMMARIZED: SEASON 2 (The Shadow Phoenix)
Or, in which I give the basics of what I’ve changed about the story for the AU. It was originally way more descriptive but if I kept it in that style I would have finished in 2039 and I ain’t got time for that. Let’s cover Season 2!
WINX REDUX AU SUMMARIZED: SEASON 2
The ceremony for the new school year is about to begin, but the Winx are worried sick. Aisha hasn’t appeared yet and they haven’t heard of her in a month.
They decide to keep up some good spirits and believe she’ll appear for the start of classes proper, and whatever’s holding her back in Andros will not take long.
Down in the depths of Shadowhaunt, Aisha has finally managed to escape her prison and is making a run for it, looking for the Pixies and trying to keep a low profile.
She finally finds them and manages to freeze them, and with some help and miniaturization spells, she managed to get them all and run like hell, as their wings were coated in something and had a hard time flying.
Darkar appears in full finally, and starts chasing after the fairy, attacking her with dark flames and providing extra ways for her to advance.
She’s cornered in a balcony and loses the Pixies due to tripping, Darkar catching them again except for Piff, which is still with Aisha hidden.
Aisha takes a leap of faith and jumps from the balcony, transforming mid-air into Glamourix much to her surprise, not expecting to have earnt it that way.
The surprise is short-lived, however, once she hits the water, knocking herself out for a bit. It’s a good thing she can breathe underwater and that pixies technically don’t breathe when asleep.
Back on Alfea, the ceremony is about to begin yet Bloom finds herself lost in the school, arriving into a weird doorless hallway.
She snoops around a bit and finds the Magic Archive, meeting Concorda in the process.
She’s the Pixie of Alfea and is in charge of protecting the Archive, and tells Bloom she needs to leave as only 3rd year students and up can access it.
A few hours pass and the ceremony has concluded (Bloom notes how weird it is that Avalon wasn’t present), the Specialists go pay the Winx a visit and they hang around for an hour, though the girls are still worried about Aisha.
Right at that moment, she appears from the woods, her Glamourix form damaged and her looking incredibly hurt, before finally fainting on the spot, detransforming.
After a week of rest, Aisha finally tells them what she went through, and Faragonda gets incredibly panicky and scared when she mentions Darkar. She bans the girls from the subject and tells them she’ll organize a way to rescue the rest of the Pixies soon.
Aisha, Bloom and Stella decide to skip school and go save the Pixies themselves, as the authorities were taking too long to do something about it after 3 days without any news, with the other three remaining at Alfea with alibis.
They drag Sky, Riven and Brandon into the mess as well for backup, and after identifying the cave Aisha came out of they start their journey to Shadowhaunt.
On Roccaluce Rehabilitation Center, the Trix find themselves bored and tired of the place, and the ways they try to make them better people, finding it inhumane.
Right around the same time, Darkar breaks in, having sensed them as the witches who weakened his seal with their stunt, and practically kidnaps them so they could help him with his plans.
The Trix follow him mostly out of fear, since the dude’s incredibly powerful and they’d rather not die by cursed fire thank you very much. He grants them part of his power to make them more capable in battle, as well as weapons for Icy and Stormy (Darcy already has a crescent-shaped blade, though Darkar does upgrade it). Icy gets a sword hilt, being able to make the blade with her ice, and Stormy gets a spear.
The Princesses and the three Specialists get lost, and after a battle with Darkar’s monsters they get separated, Stella and Brandon falling into an abyss and Stella unable to transform out of sheer shock and fear.
They wake up in a strange village and are greeted by a Drakian man in blue, called Sponsus. He tells them they’re in Surar, a town that was forced to live underground after a natural disaster destroyed their original settlement. Stella is hella weak due to the fall, the shock and not being able to transform due to all this, so she’s super scared and clinging to Brandon the entire time for safety and comfort, refusing to leave him alone.
They get Stella some medicine and treatment and Sponsus convinces them to meet Amentia, the current leader of the place, for help and instructions to Shadowhaunt since she knows the area pretty well.
They meet her, she seems interested in Brandon which only makes Stella get in an even worse mood, and tells them about what’s been happening lately on this place:
People of the town, as well as Gnomes from the nearby Ephemeria settlement, keep disappearing anytime they get close to the ways to Shadowhaunt, and monsters have started appearing. She’s interested in their plans to save the Pixies and offers her assistance on the way, to see what’s going on.
They get attacked on the way there however, Brandon getting severely injured. Amentia offers to take him back to Surar to properly treat him and Stella to keep going to meet her friend, but she’s hesitant, not wanting to be left alone right now.
Brandon finally convinces her and she rushes off, seeing if she can finally meet with the rest, trusting Brandon and Amentia that all will be fine.
She finally transforms again, earning her Glamourix, and manages to meet with the rest at last.
They decide to simply go to Shadowhaunt as they are and that they’ll meet Brandon later, so he can rest properly.
They finally reach the place and find the Pixies, freeing them. They’re attacked by the Trix at the same time, however, and a battle ensues.
It’s short-lived, however, as Avalon suddenly appears, defeating the Trix and saving the rest. He explains he had actually been contacted by the Paladins to go investigate Shadowhaunt, as they had detected sudden magic readings recently. His cover was blown, however, so he sticks with the group and scolds the girls for doing this recklessly.
They make their way back to Surar for Brandon, and after explaining what they now know to Amentia, she thanks them for the information and tells them that she’ll keep an eye on Shadowhaunt, and inform the Order of Mana if anything else happens.
They finally go back to Alfea and are scolded even further by a very worried Faragonda, who punishes them with two weeks of limited magic access outside of classrooms, as well as extra homework to catch up on what they missed. The guys are also punished by Saladin via holocall, and are forced to help with some of the harder preparations for Red Fountain’s start, as they’re still fixing the place.
Bloom and the rest does ask Faragonda what she knows about Darkar and why did he kidnap the Pixies in the first place, but she tells them she’ll share that information in due time, once she tries to process everything.
Avalon puts Bloom aside for a bit, complimenting her bravery and resolve in saving the pixies even if it was a dumb thing to do, and offers to teach her about Domino and it’s royal customs alongside Daphne, now that she’s a princess.
The girls properly meet all the Pixies, and start to get along. Bloom gets along with Lockette, Stella with Amore, Musa with Tune and Cherie, Tecna with Digit and Cara, Flora with Chatta, and Aisha with Piff. Lockette and Kiko have an Anime Rivalry going on.
A month or so passes, and Red Fountain is finally fixed, a big event occurs for it with all three schools attending, as well as Diaspro finally arriving at Alfea after having some issues transferring on Eraklyon Institute’s part.
The building now flies. Flora recognizes Helia on the crowd and decides to spend the rest of the day with him, catching up after so long. We learn he’s currently living in Magica City and trying to make it as an artist, working as a barista on the side to keep like, living.
The Trix attack during the show battle between Sky and Riven, and the Winx plus Diaspro, the Specialists and also Helia (revealing he’s now a Glamourix witch) decide to help with the issue. Once the monster is defeated the Trix are nowhere to be seen, leaving everyone confused.
Tecna is noticing a weird shift on Avalon, believing him to be really friendly lately. Too friendly.
She decided to ask him what has gone on in his life to make him be in that good mood, and when he gives a cryptic answer she becomes more convinced something’s wrong.
Despite Bloom and Musa’s protests she’s just being paranoid, she starts making a special device to decipher if Avalon is under some sort of spell, or if it’s even the real Avalon at all. The Winx believe it’s not gonna work due to some of Tecna’s past projects, so they don’t worry too much.
To literally everyone’s surprise, the device does work. Except it’s acting as a missile centered on Avalon. Shenanigans ensue.
The device starts targeting other people, meaning the Winx have to transform now. They manage to destroy the object, and Tecna apologizes for what she did.
A few weeks pass, and the girls start taking magic battle classes with Griselda.
Tecna, still slightly stressed with what happened recently (not used to apologizing for being in the wrong), has a nasty fight with Timmy, and after a few days, the Winx convince her to go talk to him properly at Red Fountain, with Bloom and Flora going along.
It just so happens that the Trix attack shortly after they arrive, seemingly looking for something. The girls and the Specialists fight them for a bit before they seemingly retreat, and give chase for them, not knowing what they or Darkar wants from the school.
The Trix arrive at the center of the academy and solve a puzzle, gaining access to the secret armory and stealing a red gem, filled with power. They call it a Keystone and promptly leave, but they’re attacked by Athena, the pixie of Red Fountain.
They’re soon cornered by half the Winx and the specialists, but during battle Icy manages to stab Timmy, and Tecna lets them go, prioritizing his safety despite wanting to simply defeat them now and end it.
Flora rushes as fast as she can and starts using her healing powers to lessen the harm, stopping the blood loss so RF’s nursery can take him.
A few hours pass and Timmy wakes up again, recovering still. He and Tecna finally talk about what had happened a few days ago and make up, Tecna’s admitting of being wrong and showing her emotions fully earning her Glamourix.
After Timmy’s near-death experience, the Winx finally confront Faragonda, and she tells them of Darkar, the Keystones, and Relix. (more info about them here and here)
Some weeks pass, and the Pixies are getting more and more homesick. Someone’s been poisoning them lately with a longing potion, and when fully inebriated they decide to flee Alfea and go back to Pixie Village, but are stopped by the Winx.
The girls are assigned a group test and need 7 people total, so they decide to invite Diaspro along so they can get to know each other better. After a few mishaps, they have a sleepover, and the group gets closer to her in different ways, bonding strongly with Bloom and Tecna (Bloom over a passion for art, Tecna over a deep, deep love-hate relationship with soap operas).
The day of the test arrives, but Darkar himself hijacks the simulation chamber, forcing the girls to do a different convergence spell than planned, defeating the monsters he placed. They pass without issue after that, and the girls feel more together than ever.
Bloom needs to go to Earth for a few days to help her mom with the case against the dudes that tried to destroy her shop, and with permission from Faragonda she brings Stella, Musa and Aisha along, since they wanted a breath of fresh air.
Stella leaves to go sightsee and Bloom meets with her mom, so left alone, Musa and Aisha decide to hit up a club and see how it goes.
Back on Magix, Flora manages to snag a coffee with Helia, and continue to catch up on their lives. She’s been trying to meet with him again for a while, but he tends to get so immersed in his work he accidentally keeps ghosting her. After an actual outing at last, Helia realizes he’s lowkey crushing on her, but decides to drop that though for a bit and continue with his art, unaware that Flora’s also starting to fall for him.
They have a good time despite an incident with some punks outside the place, and after a sudden slow dance, Musa realizes her crush on Aisha is far more than that. She internally panics the rest of the trip, Aisha somewhat oblivious but also starting to see Musa in a different light.
A few weeks pass, and Stella, Sky, Bloom and Diaspro are summoned by King Erendor, wanting to get some things clear that were left untouched after the Incident last year.
He and Samara talk about the engagement, and that if Bloom and Diaspro are willing, they can rearrange everything in a way they can both still be with Sky.
They all refuse the offer, having already resolved that themselves on their own, and that nothing he says will change their minds. Samara tries to subtly manipulate Diaspro with how her mother is taking all of this, but Bloom defends her, surprising the blonde and the regents.
Defeated, Erendor cedes word to his wife, who reveals the other reason they called them: A town bordering Quarzis and Eraklyon has been taken by the rogue noble Yoshinoya, who wants to meet with both heirs to get to an agreement. Fearing a repeat of “The Onyrix Fairy incident” (which piques Bloom’s curiosity), they order them all to go see what’s up.
On Magica City, Musa meets with her brother - Jian, a senior Specialist. They’re catching up on what has been happening lately, and after a bit, Jian informs her that Red Fountain’s Academic Showcase is happening soon, and that they’re looking for a musician to perform at the end. Musa jumps at the idea and takes that spot, happy but nervous that she’ll finally get to play for more than just the Winx sometimes.
After they part ways, Jian calls his father, and invites him to come to the Showcase since he missed it last year, and that he has a surprise for him.
Back on Eraklyon, the group talks on the way, and Bloom asks about what Erendor and Samara were talking about. Sky admittedly doesn’t know much about it since it was before he was born, but Brandon fills in and tells her Daphne will know more since she was also involved.
They finally arrive at the town, and are immediately ambushed by a group of weirdos in superhero costumes calling themselves the Patchamen, a group of justice-obsessed mercenaries that believe in Yoshinoya’s cause, being completely misguided. They’re quickly defeated, however, and thanks to them defecting, they manage to capture Yoshinoya and send them to the authorities.
Diaspro and Bloom talk a bit more on the way back, and after everything that happened that day, she realizes she might be crushing on Bloom, especially after the redhead falls asleep on her shoulder.
A week has passed, and the Showcase is finally starting. Musa’s nervous about her solo act (since she’s also helping a band with her guitar earlier on), but Aisha manages to encourage her and everyone else is supportive as well. Riven offers some advice on handling any nervousness in his own way, but Musa’s thankful about the support.
Her happiness is short-lived, however, when she recognizes her father, Huan, on the distance, and while he’s happy to see her, his eyes have a stern look.
The Winx and the Specialists introduce themselves, and Huang pulls Musa aside from a bit after this.
Once they’re in a private place, he asks her to drop the music act, that she shouldn’t do any of that. Musa asks him how he knows about this - Jian told him. She immediately refuses, she has been practicing like hell this past week and she’s not about to drop it just because her dad is still afraid of performing.
They’re on the verge of a screaming match but Aisha interrupts, worried about her friend. Musa takes the chance and leaves his father there, and goes to confront her brother on this with Aisha.
Jian told their father about the show in the hopes he had finally gotten over the issue, but he was clearly wrong, and Musa, while appreciating the thought, he should have known their dad wasn’t over it. “We’re a family of thick-headed people, did ya forget that?” Aisha has like zero context about this, so she asks them to elaborate.
Their mother, Marina, died of a magic-resistant illness, and near the end of her life she had started to get slightly better. She wanted to give one last concert, in case she did not make it, and she did. But she passed out shortly after the final song of the concert, and died on the way to the hospital.
They went through some bad patches after this, and while Huan still likes music, he’s afraid of his kids also following that path in case they end like Marina did.
Both Jian and Musa know this is idiotic, but they understand why he would be afraid of this. Marina’s passing hit them all too hard. But Musa is determined to go through the concert with his approval or not, and she’s not gonna back down.
The Showcase finally starts, and while Huan is still grumpy the girls and Riven manage to soften him a bit with how much Musa loves music and how nervous she was about all this.
Musa’s number is close to happening, and after a bit, Huan shows up backstage. He apologizes for what he did that day, and that yeah, he shouldn’t have to force her to not perform just because of his fears.
Musa also apologizes for how she reacted, but also finally calls him out on how his fears have affected her and Jian, how she has felt pressured to keep a big part of her hidden from him all this time, and how much pain this has caused her. Huan apologizes once more, and as they hug, Musa earns her Glamourix, finally being honest with her dad.
She finally gets to perform her solo act, and the Showcase finishes without any major incident.
Bloom gets invited by Mitzi for a Halloween party, and she decides to bring the Winx + Dia along as well, since the rest didn’t get to see Earth last time.
The party goes without any major incidents, but Mitzi does tell her that she hasn’t seen Selina in a bit, seemingly spending a lot of time with her grandma. Mitz’s description of her matches what her parents have told her about the mysterious old lady that showed up each time she went back home, and while she’s worried, if she’s Selina’s grandmother she will probably be fine.
A few more weeks go by and the Winx wake up to the revelation Flora signed them all up for some extra courses at Cloud Tower, and she takes the chance to also meet up with Mirta and Lucy again.
Helia also goes to get some practice on his magic done.
As this happens, Sky and Riven get trapped on their side of the dorm due to some issues, and are forced to spend the entire day together. They get closer, and Riven starts to suspect he might have something for the blonde prince.
During their stay the Trix hijack the school and after some battles, they manage to steal its Keystone after defeating Discorda, its pixie.
Helia and Flora also start lowkey flirting but they’re both bad at it and Flora’s infinite patience is starting to cut short once Helia starts trying to change subjects.
Three days later, the Winx are still bummed about their defeat at the hand of the Trix, and Bloom starts taking some private magic lessons with Avalon to unwind a bit.
They talk a bit and asks Avalon if he knows where Alfea’s keystone is. Avalon says he honestly doesn’t know, but even if he knew he wouldn’t be able to tell her. Bloom makes an offhand comment about the Keystone being in the Archive, and Avalon loses composure for a second.
Avalon offers her some of his homemade tea to relax, and she eagerly drinks it, exhausted after the training.
Bloom gets progressively more and more flighty and happy as the day progresses, and during a small joke moment in the Winx’s dorm, she starts laughing too hard. Everyone gets concerned as Bloom also suddenly transformed, and started flying away.
She’s getting more and more deranged and her eyes are starting to change color, and she arrives at the Archive, starting to burn everything with a childlike glee on her eyes. Her Glamourix also turns from orange to gold.
The Winx follow and attempt to stop her, but they’re overpowered by Bloom’s Dragon Aura and she breaks the roof, flying out with the Keystone and giving it to a shadowy person for Darkar.
She comes back down and starts trying to play (read: attack) the Winx, but Avalon arrives and takes her out of whatever she was on, detransforming.
She spends the next week shut inside her room, afraid of what she had done, not knowing how it happened, and how she almost severely hurt her friends with her magic.
Since the last break before finals is rapidly approaching, Faragonda suggest for the girls to take a trip to the Fatue Wildland Resort, a place low on ambient magic with a lot of stuff for them to take their mind off recent events, and even suggest the girls could invite the Specialists.
The Winx take the offer and bring the Specialists alongside Diaspro and Helia, and they have a nice two days on the Snow Mountains before deciding to camp on the River side of the resort, just 4 days of enjoying nature.
At the same time, Palladium and Avalon go on a small hike in search of a flower, but Avalon gets some flower acid in his eyes, prompting Livy, the messenger pixie of Alfea, to go back and get some medicine while Palladium helps him. Avalon mentions something about Pixie Village’s unique cure seemingly as a random fact, and Livy decides to then go to Pixie Village since it would have been a shorter trip.
She gets attacked by Icy on the way, and she manages to find Pixie Village. She makes short work of the place and takes the last remaining Keystone, and almosts kills Ninfea before being stopped by Livy.
She decides to fold in, and Livy rushes again to help Avalon.
With all the Keystones, Darkar realizes he needs someone else to act as a catalyst to open the gate for Relix, and informs the Trix this person is Bloom, so they need to kidnap her.
The Trix attack the group on the Wildlands, but ultimately fail to get Bloom, the team getting the fuck out of there once the Trix disappear.
At some point between the attacks, Aisha gets separated from the rest, and in a moment of panic, she can only think of Musa and how she could make everything better. She realizes she might be falling in love with her.
The Winx then go to Pixie Village by Livy and Faragonda’s request, as the Tree of Life took a beating and they think Flora might be able to save it.
She does, and thanks to a confidence boost she stops beating around the bush, finally asking Helia out on a date after their ineffective flirting on the Wildlands. Chatta cheers on the background.
Once back on Alfea Bloom decides to go check up something with Avalon, and loses track of the rest.
The Winx then meet with Faragonda and talk about what happened, when Avalon, looking way worse than just a few moments ago, bursts into the hallway.
He explains he was a prisoner of Darkar almost all year, and has only now just managed to escape. Everyone else is doubtful until Faragonda decides to call the Order, and is indeed surprised that Avalon was reported missing for almost a year now.
The Winx, realizing Bloom was gonna meet up with the fake Avalon, rush like hell to his office, but are too late - Bloom is back to that crazed state (Shadow Bloom is what the fake calls it), and formally introduces himself as Bertrand, before disappearing to Shadowhaunt.
Everyone starts panicking like hell until Daphne, filled with rage, finally decides to go to Shadowhaunt and end all this right now. The Winx agree wholeheartedly, and with some preparations from all schools our protagonists venture into the depths of Magix.
They manage to meet with Amentia on the way, who realizes there’s been more monsters lately and that Darkar might be preparing for something big. She agrees to keep those monsters at bay alongside some senior Specialists chosen to help.
The main team manage to go inside at last after a last battle with the Trix, and start looking for Bloom.
On the main chamber, and with Bloom’s magic, Darkar finally manages to open the gate to Relix, and leaves the Trix alone to defend the castle while he executes his master plan (which no one truly knows what is yet).
The Trix are pissed at this, after all they did for him for him to betray them like that, so they defect and decide to go help the heroes as a last “fuck you” to Darkar.
The heroes, meanwhile, are held back by Bertrand, who has been kicking their ass for a few minutes before Faragonda, Griffin, Saladin and Codatorta’s entrance, who agree to entertain the monster while everyone else rushes to Relix with Daphne’s help.
The Ring/Sceptre of Solaria is broken during the battle, causing Stella a lot of distress.
With combined effort, the former members of the Company of Light manage to kill Bertrand.
The Winx, Specialists, Diaspro, Helia and the Trix manage to enter Relix at last, and finally witness Darkar’s plan:
To make Bloom absorb as much power from the planetoid as possible, so she can earn Relix and then transfer his consciousness to her, finally becoming corporeal again and… and…
He stops for a bit. He has completely forgotten what he wanted to do once he reached Relix, centuries old memories mixing inside of him.
The Specialists take this chance and attack Darkar, destroying his armor and suddenly freeing the spirit inside, forming into a giant bird-like form.
Bloom is still absorbing magic, and attempts from the Winx seem futile, a shield protecting her. A convergence spell manages to weaken it enough that Diaspro goes through it, and attempts to snap Bloom out of Darkar’s control as much as she can.
Darkar realizes what Diaspro is doing and attacks both her and Bloom not realizing that he will also hurt his future host, and Diaspro takes the full brunt of the attack to defend Bloom.
She ends up severely burned by Darkar, and faints on the spot, seemingly not breathing.
Bloom looks down to Diaspro, the manic glee in her face disappearing completely, her transformation undone and the curse drug placed on her by Bertrand burnt away by her sorrow.
Diaspro starts to shine, however, and manages to get herself partly up surprised that she’s not hurting anymore, and realizes she earnt Enchantix by saving Bloom via giving up her safety for her. Bloom hugs her immediately, but soon realizes Darkar’s still there and he’s attacking everyone.
However, the headmasters plus Daphne arrive to Relix as well, and with everyone’s power, they manage to destroy Darkar, separating the two souls that formed him and burning them, letting them pass on at last.
Completely exhausted, everyone leaves Shadowhaunt slightly traumatized by everything that happened, and the Trix, while proved helpful against Darkar in the end, are going to have to go to jail for a bit and will have a proper trial to determine their fate.
Everyone finally manages to go back to the schools and rest for a bit before finals start, and for now, peace has been achieved...

Climbing Mount Sinai Peak – Everything You Need To Know Before
Climbing Mount Sinai Peak (2285-metre / 7,497 ft.) is one of those experiences that are on many people's bucket list - for a reason! The biblical Mount Sinai is one of the most important sacred places in the Jewish, Christian and Islamic religions because it is the place where a covenant between God and His people was established.
All these religions have in common that they believe the biblical Mount Sinai was the place where Moses received the Ten Commandments, which is why Mount Sinai is also referred to as Mount Moses. The locals call it Jebel Musa in Arabic. I'm using these words interchangeably throughout this article, they all describe the same mountain.
Besides the Old Testament, it is also mentioned in the Quran, where “God prefaces a statement on the creation of Mankind by swearing to four sacred symbols: "by the Fig and the Olive, and the Mount of Sinai (at-Tur), and this City of security (Mecca)"(Sura 95:1-3)
Don't confuse Mount Sinai with Mount Catherine though, which is the highest mountain in Egypt. On the peak of Mount Sinai, there is a Greek Orthodox Chapel (closed) and an open mosque, so if you're a practicing Muslim, this will be one of your most memorable prayer locations for sure.

Even when you're not religious, it's an incredible experience and you will feel the special energy in this place. It's definitely worth it doing this challenging hike.
I will not go into detail about the history and meaning of Mount Moses, as you can read that anywhere online, but will give you some practical advice instead.
For more information about Saint Catherine, read my Ultimate Guide to St. Catherine!
I posted Instagram stories live on my account the whole time I was in St. Catherine and climbing Mount Sinai. If you want to have a look, you can find it under my highlights “Sinai Desert”.

1. Best Season For Climbing Mount Sinai
Sinai is a hot desert climate zone, with very little rain and warm to hot temperatures throughout the year. Higher regions like St. Catherine (1600 meters) receive 4-10x more precipitation than the rest of Sinai.
So what's the best time to do the Mount Sinai hike?
For me personally, spring is the best times to go to St. Catherine and hike Mount Moses. It's not too hot and not too cold. Spring is a fascinating time in the desert, as all the trees, plants and flowers in the desert start to blossom and turn it into a green scenery you would never expect to see in a desert. Summer and winter have their charm as well, though.
Mount Sinai in Winter
Winter can be really cold in St. Catherine, often below 0 ºC. How crazy is that, going to a desert and seeing snow? Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience and an incredible photo opportunity! On Mount Sinai, you will face extreme cold and snow is the norm, so come prepared and bring lots of warm clothes! During the day though, the sun usually keeps you warm, even in winter.
Mount Sinai in Summer
Thanks to the high altitude, it doesn't get much warmer than 30°C in summer, which makes Saint Catherine a perfect escape from the hot beach towns such as Dahab and Sharm El-Sheikh, or even Cairo. Trees and fruits had time to grow and you get to taste some fresh delicacies. It's also hot enough to dip your toes or even swim in water springs.
You will need a jacket or warm sweater at night when you hike up Mount Moses though as it's so high, it's simply not possible to bet hot up there. cIt an also get pretty windy.
2. Book a tour or go by yourself? Sunrise or Sunset?
Organized tours (mostly from Dahab and Sharm El-Sheik) climb Mount Sinai in the pre-dawn hours to view the sunrise from the summit. It gets really crowded up there!
Climbing late in the afternoon to see the sunset is a much quieter, more tranquil experience, but it has two downsides. In summer, it can be pretty hot for such an intense hike in the sun, and you'll be descending in the dark, which can be a bit tricky because it's rocky terrain.
If you have enough time in Sinai, I would always recommend going without an organized tour from Sharm or Dahab. Going by yourself/with just your friends or family means you have all the time you need. You can start your hike at any time, you can take as many breaks as you like, and you can leave the peak whenever you like.
If you're not coming as part of a group, you can simply go to the monastery and hire a guide from the entrance. Especially for photographers, slow hikers or anyone with "special needs", this is the best option.
It's also a much more tranquil experience on the summit because you'll get the chance to have the place all by yourself. The huge crowds on the top make it a bit busy and touristy, to be honest. They all leave at the same time to visit the monastery when it opens at 9am, so if you stay a bit longer, it will be quiet. You can also go up earlier to reach the peak first and watch the stars.
If you want to see the sunrise, you should start sometime between midnight and 3 am, depending on your level of fitness. Those of average fitness should be able to get to the summit in no more than three hours. Alternatively, the sunset is also an impressive sight; for this you should start your climb in the early afternoon.
My ultimate tip is to hike up in the afternoon and see the sunset. Then you can make yourself comfortable for the night to sleep under millions of stars. In the last camp before the summit, you can rent mattresses and blankets so you won't be freezing. It gets really cold so you will definitely need them.
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="2400"] The last camp before the peak of Mount Sinai, this is where you can rent mattresses and blankets. We slept at the very left in this picture.[/caption]
If you don't mind carrying a sleeping bag up, that would certainly be more hygienic. But when you're traveling in Egypt you shouldn't be too concerned with everything being super clean anyway, or else you'll have a hard time here. Relax, you won't die.
I would say your chances of being the only people on the peak of Mount Sinai the whole night are like 95%. A bit before the sun rises, you will see massive amounts of people arriving, it's almost surreal. Don't sleep too long, set an alarm so that you get a good spot to see the sunrise.
3. Avoiding The Crowds At Mount Sinai Peak
As you already know, most tourists climb the mountain during the night, see the sunrise at the summit and visit the monastery during the day. Therefore, if you want to avoid crowds, climb the mountain for sunset or, even better, in the night before a Sunday when the monastery is closed to visitors. There will be much fewer groups because they wouldn't be able to visit the monastery in the morning.
4. How Hard Is The Mount Sinai Hike?
There are two principal routes to the summit. The longer and shallower route is called Siket El Bashait and takes about 2.5 hours by foot. It's also called the camel route, since, obviously, you can use a camel to get up. If you're physically not able to do the entire Mount Sinai hike yourself, you can choose this option.
It's not an easy hike for sure, and you probably won't feel the need to do it again anytime soon, but it's doable. There are a lot of "cafés" on the way up so you have plenty of chances to take a break and have water, tea, coffee or some snacks.
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="1800"] Steep stairs - this is not part of the camel route, it's the harder one. The steps look small on this photo but they're quite high, at least for someone as short as me ;)[/caption]
I have seen many old people with walking disabilities though who have done the hike themselves - very impressive! They show it's possible, and the feeling of climbing a mountain by yourself is just different than being taken up there by a camel, the sunrise or sunset is your reward and you really earned it.
So, if you're physically able to hike, I highly recommend to do it. Go without a big group and just go slow, take as much time as you need. The Bedouin guides are super patient and will help you with whatever you carry.
The steeper, more direct route (Siket Sayidna Musa) leads up the 3750 "steps of penitence" in the ravine behind the monastery. Both routes meet for the last part to the summit.
We took the camel route up and the harder route down because we wanted to see another wadi (valley). We really felt close to dying, it was a 12-hour tour in total. My legs were wobbly and shaking and I never wanted to find a bed as badly as that day.
Weirdly though, my muscles weren't sore the next day. That really surprised me, because I'm not exercising a lot. I was extremely tired though for a few days, skipping a whole night of sleep is easier when you're 20 ;)
I'd recommend you to plan in a few days of easy-going activities and do all the other hikes you might want to do around St. Catherine before you're climbing Mount Sinai.
5. Tipping your Bedouin Guide
One thing I really want to ask everyone doing this adventure, from the bottom of my heart: Tip your Bedouin guide very generously!!! They only get a fixed price of 250 LE (May 2019: about 12€) for a whole night of extreme physical work and responsibility for you. The government sets the price, and since most people book a full tour from Dahab or Sharm, they don’t even know how much the guides earn.
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="2400"] Our Bedouin guide leading the way[/caption]
It’s an absolutely ridiculous amount of money for this type of work and for the cost of living in Egypt, which is rising and rising after the devaluation of the currency. So, please, support the local community and tip them as much as you can.
They're also incredibly kind people and as soon as they see you struggling just a tiny bit, they offer to carry your backpack or give you their jacket if you're cold. They'll do whatever they can to make the hike as easy as possible for you.
6. Safety at Mount Sinai
Is climbing Mount Sinai safe? Aren't there terrorists?
YES, it's safe! NO, there are no terrorists!
Most people think that St. Catherine, Mount Sinai, and Sinai in general, are dangerous places. That's because the mainstream media doesn’t distinguish between North and South Sinai. All tourist destinations, including Mount Sinai, are located in the south of Sinai and are not more dangerous than most other parts of the world. In the very northern part of Sinai, there are unrests from time to time, but you wouldn’t even be allowed to enter that area.
Good to know: Don’t be scared or put off by the many checkpoints all over Sinai. The government is trying to make Sinai as safe as can be, and while military and guns seem intimidating at first, you have nothing to worry about. Just keep your passport handy at all times.
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="2400"] It's friendly everywhere in Sinai - SMILE :)[/caption]
Also, the Bedouins in Saint Catherine are securing the area by themselves, so don’t be surprised if locals stop you to ask a few questions about where you’re staying and so on. They’re adding an extra layer of security and vetting people themselves to make sure they don’t miss any suspicious activity. It's their land, after all, and they are the last people who would want trouble here.
As soon as you arrive, you will feel the special energy in St. Catherine and the Sinai desert in general. It is absolutely magical. You immediately start to feel a sense of calmness and peace.
The media portrays Sinai as a dangerous place, but I can assure you that there are few places in the world where you feel as peaceful as here, certainly no other region in the Middle East can compare. All the different religions actually live together in peace here, even though Egypt is predominantly a Muslim country.
I’m pretty sure you will feel right at home and perfectly safe and sound, at least the big majority of people do. I came as a tourist and am still here 3 years later, just like many other expats, and I feel safer here than in any city in Germany or Europe, where I come from. Please, don’t let the media scare you from coming to and climbing Mount Sinai.
7. What To Pack For Climbing Mount Sinai
As little as possible!
Cash for tea, coffee, snacks and mattresses + blankets
Second set of clothes
Thermo clothes
Light scarf/hat for hike down
8. Trekking Rules In The Sinai Desert
1. Look after water
Do not pollute water sources with soap, food scraps or anything else. Do not camp within a 100 m of water sources. Wildlife needs to drink too and will be disturbed by your presence. Do not go to the toilet within 100 m of water sources.
2. Manage your waste
Crush tin cans and plastic bottles and any other waste. You brought it in so carry it out with you. If there is no toilet, BURN YOUR USED TOILET PAPER and then bury your bodily waste. You may burn paper items and you may feed vegetable waste to the camels with the owners’ permission.
3. Respect Bedouin culture and traditions
Ask permission before using wells, as these are usually private property. Only enter private gardens if invited to do so by the owner. Ask permission before taking photographs of local people. Do not burn local firewood, use only gas stoves or firewood bought in town for cooking.
4. Respect Flora and Fauna
It is prohibited to remove any object from the Protected Area including rocks, plants, and animals. It is prohibited to disturb or harm animal or birds. It is prohibited to paint or carve graffiti, cut trees or uproot plants.
St. Katherine Protectorate was declared by the Prime Ministerial Decree under Law 102 of 1983; illegal activities can result in prosecution.
Basically: Leave no traces behind, and take nothing with you.
If you have some more time in Sinai, make sure you read my guide to St. Catherine as there are plenty more amazing things to do other than climbing Mt. Sinai and visiting St. Catherine's monastery. Did you know that you can even sleep in the monastery? Find more insider tips in this Ultimate Guide to St. Catherine!

Hello! You just mentioned that you studied martyrdom in the Islamic context for a long time. Would you be so kind as to recommend any books on this topic? Martyrdom, suicide, violence to self (esp. pertaining to, but not limited to religious contexts)... any book that pops into your mind on these topics I'd so appreciate it. Thank you so much!
Hi! Sorry it took me so long to answer this. It has been quite the couple of months.
These are organized alphabetically by author, rather than by subject (sects, specific organizations, countries, time periods, languages, etc.), because otherwise frankly I would not have gotten this done. I know without categorization it looks overwhelming. Just take a deep breath, look at the titles, and check them out one by one to see what seems useful or relevant to you. This post is not an order to read everything listed in it–though I have bolded a few things I think are particularly useful.
The list below is weighted toward Hamas and Hizballah (and therefore, Palestine and Lebanon) solely because I’ve studied them more than other groups that engage in political martyrdom/martyrdom as warfare, but consider that a comprehensive list would deal with the Tamil Tigers, ISIS and other contemporary jihadi groups, the US Armed Forces, Kurdish pêshmerga, all hunger strikers everywhere (including Ireland, Turkey, the US, and I’m sure many more places I’m not even up on at all), murdered dissidents around the world (including many names championed by movements like Black Lives Matter such as Sandra Bland, Trayvon Martin, and too many more to list), and pretty much any military force that has valorized a member or figurehead after death (so, all of them). Expand your notion of martyrdom past Muslim suicide bombers to encompass the general idea of heaping praise on someone for dying for a cause and you’ll quickly see that it’s a pretty universal human value, by no means limited to one religion, one part of the world, or even one kind of political circumstance. (See also: Catholicism.) I studied Hizballah’s museums extensively and I can tell you that their “martyrdom displays” look pretty much exactly the same as some of the rooms in the 9/11 Museum in NYC. It’s all the same, when you get right down to it–but also (perhaps more strangely) in the aesthetics, iconography, and strategies of representation and commemoration.
(Please note that “Hizballah” is spelled in multiple ways, because transliteration is a nightmare mess and I’m just staying true to the titles of everything as published. Some URLs may be out of date, and citation formats may be inconsistent–I’m mining multiple bibliographies, some of which are close to a decade old. Since I’ve given you all the publication information one way or another, googling up texts should be relatively easy. Finally, I haven’t gone through to look for pdfs/open access links to all of these, because frankly there are too many and I am a tired, busy person. But I bet if you look for them you’ll find more than a few!)
Also note that not everything here will be closely/specifically on martyrdom itself, nor specifically on Islamic contexts. You’ll also see just from the titles that there’s a lot of emphasis on memory and commemoration, which reflects my own work but also the general fact that martyrdom only has any occurrence, any meaning or existence, as a form of public remembering, and so one has to look at how others commemorate martyrdom just as much as how martyrs make their decisions to die, if they do so at all (not all of them do). That’s because I believe it’s very important to think about martyrdom in a wider social, political, and cultural context, and focusing narrowly on what are widely understood as martyrdom acts/behaviors, or on Muslims, will lead to a distorted perception. Feel free to sort as you prefer, though I hope you’ll keep that notion in mind.

And something easier to digest, though no less serious: read up on Omar Mukhtar. Try to really get it through your head how and why people would come to treat someone who died for a fruitless cause as a hero for a full century after his death. While you’re at it, think about the way many Americans talk about their compatriots who died in military service (here’s an example). Read up on the history of Masada and India’s Martyrs’ Day; contemplate the fact that the very word “martyr” comes from Greek. Think about people who famously died for your country/ethnic group/rights of some identity group you belong to (I don’t presume to know who you are or where you’re from) and why you learned about them in school or online, and how those lessons predisposed you to think. (Hell, think about Joan of Arc.) Treat martyrdom as something that every society and social group engages in (yes, with all the attendant implications that martyrdom is a process, something continually reproduced across time and generations). And then try to think about why martyrdom has become an important value in many Muslim countries.

BIAFRA @50 : REFLECTIONS AND HOPES
Below is the speech of the President of Ohanaze Ndigbo Chief Nnia Nwodo Jnr at the Yar Adua center on 50 years of Biafra.
The conference was held yesterday, Thursday, 25th May, 2017, Acting President Prof Yemi Osinbajo and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo were guests.
PROTOCOLS:
1. I am grateful to Shehu Musa Yar Adua Foundation, Ford Foundation and OSIWA - the co-sponsors of this event for your kind invitation. I commend your foresight in convening this conference, the first major conference discussing Biafra outside of Igboland. Nigeria. In hosting this conference the Yar’Adua Centre, which is best known for promoting national cohesion, honours the legacy of a great patriot: Shehu Musa Yar Adua. He died building bridges of understanding across our nation. I salute his family and associates for sustaining the legacy of Shehu through the works of this Foundation.
2. It is significant that you have chosen to harvest sober memories of Biafra. By so doing, you help us to wisely situate today’s talks of Biafra in the proper context: namely, as an opportunity for nation building; and not - as an invitation for invectives or recrimination.
3. 50 years ago, Nigeria faced disintegration by the declaration of the Republic of Biafra. Biafra was born out of the political crisis which engulfed Nigeria at that time. The crisis began with the struggle for leadership in the Western Region of Nigeria, the declaration of state of emergency in the West, the coup of January 1966, the counter coup of July 1966, the pogroms, the declaration of Biafra and the commencement of a police action that turned into a three years civil war.

4. I hope that our gathering today may contribute to the body of knowledge or body of lessons from the war. Lest we forget, there is wisdom in the words of George Santayana that: those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat it. That is why I thank you for the chance for us to collectively remember, reflect, hope and seek ways to build anew.
5. My most heartfelt reflection is that in the Nigeria-Biafra conflict, we can and should acknowledge the sacrifice - in blood, suffering and toil - by millions of citizens on both sides of that divide. They shared a common hope for their sacrifice: namely, that out of that war, we shall build a nation where no man is oppressed. The only difference was that for one side, Nigeria was that nation. For the other it was Biafra.
6. Let us spare a thought for every victim of that conflict and the crises before that: the leaders and the soldiers, ordinary men, women and children. Each one loved life; had hopes and dreamt dreams. They died prematurely and often, painfully.
7. For those of us that survived the war and others who came afterwards, we are both heirs to the sacrifices of fallen brethren. Let us commit ourselves today and always to their hopes for peace and justice. Anytime that we are violent, anytime that we are unjust in the exercise of our public trust, anytime we lower the ideals of this nation, we betray them; and we act as if they died in vain. As we honour their memory, today my worry is not only about the rising feeling of marginalization of Igbos or any other group but that our nation may emerge from this conflict a more united and prosperous country.
8. At the end of the war, in spite of a policy of no victor no vanquished by the Government of General Yakubu Gowon, an unconscionable policy of impoverishment of Biafrans was unleashed by the federal government. Every bank deposit of Biafrans that had encountered a transaction whether by deposit or withdrawal was reduced to £20. Massive savings were completely wiped out. Capacity for investment and recovery from the war was shattered. Whilst this poverty pervaded, the Indigenisation Decree was promulgated enabling other Nigerians, except Biafrans to acquire commanding heights in the indigenised companies which held at that time the critical and commanding heights of Nigeria’s private economy.
9. Nevertheless, on the issue of reconciliation, we must give due credit to the resilience of the people from the war affected areas and the generosity of millions of other Nigerians that opened their hearts and homes to their friends and neighbours that were victims of war. In many ways, it was by these incredible citizen to citizen relationships that Nigeria achieved one of the most remarkable post-conflict people to people reconciliation and reintegration in modern times.
10. Before the war national unity was the norm. A Biafran was a member of Northern Nigeria House of Chiefs. Biafrans lived freely and invested in all parts of Nigeria. In Lagos Dr Azikiwe was elected leader of Government Business. Mbonu Ojike was elected Deputy Speaker. In Enugu Alhaji Umoru Altine, a Fulani man was elected Mayor of Enugu. Mr Willougby a Yoruba man, was Accountant General.
11. On the economic front, the economy was buoyant. Import substitution industries grew rapidly and were more profitable. In the North, groundnut production and export fuelled economic growth. Textile industries flourished, agriculture boomed. Ahmadu Bello University thrived with outstanding international reputation.
12. In Lagos and the entire Western Region growth was phenomenal. Cocoa was a dependable foreign exchange earner. Cement, soft drinks, rubber, beer, soap and other import substitution industries grew phenomenally. Lagos, Ibadan and Ife housed universities of world standards. The first television station in black Africa was built. The first stadium in Nigeria was also built in the West.

13. In the Eastern Region palm produce grew the Eastern economy. Coal was mined and exported. Beer, cement, cashew nuts, tyres, aluminium, steel and soft drink factories grew rapidly. University of Nigeria was built and run by Americans.
14. Reflecting on 50 years after the Nigeria-Biafra conflict, it would seem to me that we have made very elaborate efforts: constitutional, political and administrative to ensure a united Nigeria. We must not shy away from giving our nation its due credit, after all, some other societies with challenges like ours did not fare as well as we did.
15. However, we should not rest on our oars. Unity is not an end in itself; and ultimately, the best way to sustain our unity is to apply it to achieve a higher objective; namely, nation building.

16. Our political system is jaundiced, unfair, exploitative and unsustainable. Since attainment of independence the civilians have not been able to agree on a political structure. Our present constitution and the previous 1979 constitution were impositions of the military – an unrepresentative and dictatorial corps whose decrees were seriously influenced by the lop-sidedness of their composition.
17. The economic and development data from Nigeria is unencouraging in many sectors. Our law and order system including the police, the court system and the penal system has been characterised by impunity, incompetence and indiscipline.
18. On the global Terrorism Index Nigeria ranks 3rd after Iraq and Afghanistan and ahead of Pakistan and Syria. The World Economic Forum ranks Nigeria 127 out of 138 on the Global Competitiveness Index. The UNESCO ranks Nigeria with Chad, Pakistan and Ethiopia as the worst educational system in the world. Nigeria, according to the report, has the highest number of children out of school and one of the world's worst education systems due to a combination of corruption, conflict and lack of investment. In the Human Development Index of the United Nations Development Program, Nigeria ranks 152 out of 188 countries and is the lowest among OPEC countries. The data points to a bleak future as we march to post-oil world without a coherent plan to reduce conflict and build a new national consensus.
19. On the positive side, there is a global consensus that Nigeria is highly potentiated. With a population of about 182 million people, by current estimates; and with our vast mineral and material resources; a well-organized Nigeria should be a land of plenty that supports its people and a leader in the comity of nations. Sadly, this is not the case.
20. Almost every Nigerian is agreed that Nigeria is not working but there is no clear consensus on why; or on what to do about it. Some say that it is merely a problem of leadership and once that is fixed all other things will fall in place. Others say that it is a problem of corruption. Once you tackle that, everything will be fine. Others have said that our problem is one of law and order; some say it is more fundamental and has to do with control of resources, structure of the Federation and thus requires more equitable sharing of revenue and the devolution of powers. Others say it can be fixed with power rotation and a more level playing field. It has been said that it could be a bit of all of the above; and that Nigeria cannot be fixed without a fundamental change of values and attitudes. Whatever the case, it will not profit us to pretend that we do not face existential challenges
21. These challenges are worrisome; especially to our younger ones who must face the fact that the next 50 years could be even more challenging and there is a good chance that we could be left behind if we fail to take action today. For instance, it is estimated in some quarters, that by 2050 – that is in 33 years’ time – Nigeria could be the 4th most populous country in the world. That means that Nigeria, which is just twice the size of Texas; would be more populous than all the United States of America. Meanwhile, as of today, we have a GDP that is barely 2% of that of the United States.
22. At the same time, in the years ahead, we could face very severe ecological challenges that will impact negatively on our economy. The desert is encroaching southwards at a speed of up to 6 km per annum. Thus within 33 years we could lose about 200 km of land to the desert - across the north. This can only exacerbate competition for arable land in the north and elsewhere – with dire political consequences.
23. In the South East, we could expect more ecologically-induced dislocation. For instance, the government of Anambra State estimates that about 40% of the State is threatened by erosion. In the South-South, by 2050 we could be dealing with the reality of a post-oil economy and yet have massive environmental degradation that is yet unattended to. There is also the possibility that much of the mangrove ecosystem could be lost to deforestation. Lagos could have a population of up to 50 million people and face unbearable challenges of massive urbanization.
24. We must become more responsive to the world around us, or we and our children will be left behind. These are some of the fears and anxieties of our youths. We have for too long allowed the bitterness of the war and its lingering feelings to dictate our political relationships. The coalition that fought the war is still in control of Nigeria engaging in rhetoric that fuelled the war in managing renascent Nigeria. The young men and women who were not part of the war are frustrated by this impasse.
25. Those who are in the East fuel strong agitations for separation in the face of clear treatment as second class citizens. War is the primary instrument of military dictatorship while negotiation and agreement are the essential ingredients of civilian democracy and political diplomacy. Nations are not created and sustained by street warfare. The federal government of Nigeria must instruct its police and army to promulgate a ceasefire and disengage from further unproductive street warfare with IPOB and MASSOB. There are no problems which cannot be resolved by negotiation.
26. We do not want any more wars. We have shed enough blood without producing corresponding political results. 50 years after Biafra the time is now overripe for a fresh approach. We must immediately commence discussions and fruitful negotiations about our political future. In the era of assymetrical warfare, war is no more an easy option for states, therefore we must negotiate our way out of a sense of national despair to a new national consensus that unlocks our national possibilities.
27. Nigeria, blessed as the richest and the most popular nation in Africa has enormous potentials. Every part of Nigeria can survive as an independent country. The North with its mineral and agricultural potentials can build a strong nation. The West with its cocoa, oil, indomitable intellectual know how and commerce can build another Britain. The South South with its oil, notwithstanding its declining economic potency can transform its area before oil ceases to be a major foreign exchange earner. The East with industry, outstanding innovation and little oil may still emerge as the African wonder. But none of these little enclaves will rival the capacity of a united and reconciled Nigeria. We must all rise up and save this nation from a trajectory that will make a break up a more viable option.
28. The challenges ahead are beyond Biafra. Just like the challenge in North East Nigeria exploded in our face and has engaged our nation for almost 9 years; we could face challenges anywhere and anytime. In my view, if we fail to build a nation that caters fairly for all its citizens; and prepares us for the world of tomorrow – there will be new challenges in the future.
29. We must find creative ways to manage a complex multi-ethnic and multi-religious state. History teaches us that no society is static; the status quo cannot endure forever. We must find creative ways to promote political, economic and social justice within a nation and between the people that comprise it. If not, then we are invariably opening the doors to future threats of chaos, disorder and societal dislocation.
30. The final challenge of our generation is to show that we learnt the right lesson from that sad conflict of 50 years ago. We must bequeath our children with a nation that works for all and one that looks ahead. We want a Federal Republic of Nigeria which is collectively owned by all Nigerians as opposed to a Federal Republic that will be perceived as a the private property of one group or groups of ethnic groups depending on who is in office. The categorical destination is a Nigerian Nigeria under the collective hegemony of the people of Nigeria. In order to achieve this we must have a flexible federation; strong enough to guarantee our collective defence and protect individual rights, agile enough to react to emerging tensions and threats, yet expansive enough to allow each state room to develop at its own pace. We must create a national order whereby each state bears the primary responsibility for its development.
31. Today majority of Nigerians are yearning for a restructuring of the federation. The beneficiaries of our current system are resisting it. A famous British Prime Minister in the wake of nationalist struggles in colonial Africa said to the British ‘there is a wind of change blowing throughout Africa. Those who resist it do so at their own peril’.
32. Nigeria cannot prosper, as it should, unless we redress some aspects of our current condition. I believe we have enough men and women of vision and experience, in every part of the country, to help us plot a bright future. I commit Ohaneze Ndigbo to this path. It may be difficult but it is doable.
33. True leadership evolves in historical circumstances like this. Our country is at cross roads. You can feel the tension every day. It is palpable, it is potent, it is real. Let us wake up to the change imperative at this moment and claim a glorious judgment by History.
34. Thank You for your kind attention

WINX REDUX AU SUMMARIZED: SEASON 3 (The Fugitive from Omega)
Or, in which I give the basics of what I’ve changed about the story for the AU. It was originally way more descriptive but if I kept it in that style I would have finished in 2039 and I ain’t got time for that. Let’s cover Season 3 at last!
WINX REDUX AU SUMMARIZED: SEASON 3
After a month or so of summer break, Stella calls everyone up for a meeting in Magix to start getting the stuff for her birthday party/princess ball going.
Aisha is a bit down, however - while she did inform her parents that she’s dating Musa now, they’re still going on about her arranged marriage and she wishes they would stop.
The girls then go to a few stores in Magix to buy a few things Stella didn’t get in Solaria - she’s making her ballgown for the event and she wants some extra decorations, as it’s the last time she’ll appear as the Heir of the Sun and the Moon and wants to honor both celestial objects.
After a bit of shopping they take a lunch break, and meet Chimera there. They fight over a pizza but neither gets it, falling into the floor after a tug-o-war.
The girls meet her again when getting a dress for Bloom, and the interaction is equally unpleasant.
They finally get everything and then Stella brings Bloom and Daphne to Solaria, so they can spend a week there before the main event, so they can sightsee a bit.
During this stay, Bloom confides to Stella and Daphne that she might be developing something for Diaspro, but she’s not sure if it’s a genuine emotion or just her being happy she saved her. The other two simply tell her to think about it more clearly, and that she’ll realize what the feeling is when it happens.
At around the same time, the capsule Stormy had been in during her stay at Omega suddenly malfunctions after some ice hits it hard, allowing her to free herself. She manages to free the other 2 and immediately makes Icy cast a spell so they don’t die from the cold.
They wander for a bit before getting chased by some ice wyrms, and find Valtor’s capsule.
They free him and immediately throw him to the wyrm so they can escape again, but to their surprise Valtor manages to kill it with ease. He formally introduces himself.
They find the portal to Antocea and manage to open it, taking a break on the settlement around it (mostly abandoned warehouses full with stuff they can survive on for a few weeks), and with Valtor’s Mark, they manage to control the mermaids around the place.
Valtor is still pretty weak from the trip however, and decides to take a trip to Solaria to drain a bit of power from the Lantern of the Sun, to revitalize himself a bit.
Stella and Riven show Daphne and Bloom around, and they also finally meet Radius.
He introduces Count Alessandro of Alba, and reveals to Stella that he will be marrying him in a few months. Everyone is surprised, most of all Stella since she didn’t even notice they were dating.
Alessandro also introduces his daughter Carmilla, who turns out to be Chimera’s real name. The two girls try to remain civil but it's proving harder and harder. Stella just doesn’t like Chimera that much, and Chimera’s paranoid this will just end like how her parent’s separation ended and does not want that happening again, ever.
Valtor arrives at Solaria Castle and sees Chimera, sees how easily manipulable she is at the moment and promises her that if she helps him get to the Lantern, he will give her some extra power to ensure she wins in the end.
Chimera agrees and lends him the Lantern for a few seconds, Valtor absorbs part of its power and then marks Chimera, giving her instructions on what to do.
Aisha finds out about the current mess on Andros due to the portal of Omega being open, causing havoc near their sister nations and decides to stay home to help, informing the girls in the meantime.
The day of the Ball has arrived, and everyone is happy for Stella and how the day is gonna go, even if they’re missing Aisha. Radius introduces her as the Heir of the Sun and the Moon and then announces his engagement to Alessandro.
They dance for a bit and Stella is about to announce whether she will turn into the Heir of the Sun or the Heir of the Moon, but she’s attacked out of nowhere, falling to the ground and finding herself unable to transform. An illusion spell is cast over the entire room by Chimera, who marks her dad and future step-dad as well in the confusion. It makes everyone believe Stella has turned into a monster and order her arrest, everyone forced to flee.
After an escape through the old aqueducts, they decide to leave for Alfea for answers, and Wizgiz informs her that her magic was sealed by a very powerful spell, and that it would take him months for him to break it even with the entire staff’s help. He instead points them to the Mirror of Purification, a magical spring deep in the mountains of Soraia that can remove any curse or spell placed on a person, no matter how strong.
They manage to get there after many mishaps, but the spring is hidden in caves and Stella’s just sick of everything at that point, her ball was ruined, she was more or less exiled from her own planet, and she feels useless without her magic especially now since the ring is still broken, tying it to her worth for a bit. She manages to find the spring and takes a dive in it, but she still can’t cast magic, and everyone arrives.
They manage to cheer her up and tell her how much she means to them even if she can’t believe it at the moment, and that does manage to lift her mood. She can finally cast magic again after this - the spring removed the curse the second she stepped on it, but her fairy magic wasn’t gonna come out until she could think positively again.
Stella spends the last week of break before classes with Bloom and Daphne in Daphne’s newly acquired apartment.
Classes finally start and the girls can meet with Aisha again, who catches them up on what’s going on at Andros. Daphne’s reaction to the name Valtor scares Bloom.
Stella reunites with her friend Nova, who had moved away a few years ago to another coastal city in Solaria and catches her up on what’s going on at her country.
Musa also meets the princess of Melodeus Galatea, and the princess gains an interest on Musa due to her style of music. They strike a quick friendship after that.
a few days pass and when news break that Valtor has captured Queen Ligea of Mareia, she can’t stand it anymore WE’RE GOING TO ANDROS TO SAVE MY AUNT RIGHT NOW.
So Stella teleports them to Andros to get a way to get there that doesn’t involve flying cuz they would die trying that are you insane. She stays behind to cover for them with the Pixies, Diaspro and Nova.
She gets busted almost immediately by Daphne though, who is in the middle of a panic attack.
On Andros, after a quick check-in with Aisha’s parents, the girls get one of the private smaller ships the royal house has to get to Mareia and rescue Ligea. They meet Roy then, captain of the ship and Aisha’s friend.
As they sail onwards they’re attacked by the Trix, and after a fight, Bloom’s knocked out into the seas, a small platform rising below her.
Valtor shows up and tries to talk to Bloom, finding her familiar somehow, but he’s attacked by the Winx and as a warning, makes Aisha blind.
While everyone’s trying to deal with this, Aisha’s cousin Tressa appears, telling them that there’s a chance right now of rescuing the queen since Valtor’s occupied elsewhere, back in the Omega portal.
Everyone agrees and after Aisha swaps to her mermaid form and casts a breathing spell to the rest, they delve into the sea.
After a few missteps they arrive at the underwater palace and rescue Ligea, and try to make a run for it when Valtor attacks them in person, alongside a kraken he marked.
The kraken quickly goes haywire and attacks everyone equally however, and manages to knock both Ligea and Valtor out.
Aisha wants to take this chance and defeat Valtor right then and there (she can sense everything and “see” underwater thanks to her source), but realizes getting Ligea to safety is more important and bails, leaving Valtor to escape.
As they’re nearing the surface however, the kraken strikes again trying to drag Ligea back down, but Aisha intercepts it getting almost killed in the process to save her aunt. Everyone else reaches the surface and are really worried for Aisha, until she rises from the seas in Enchantix, having earnt the form. Her eyesight is also restored now, earning the form removing any curse or spell placed on her. She uses her Essence Dust as well to heal Ligea.
They get back to Alfea and immediately get punished to organizing the recently restored archive after Bloom kinda destroyed it last year for their stunt in Andros, thought they congratulate the girl’s bravery in helping those in aid and does acknowledge that Aisha has a duty to her people.
Faragonda and Daphne then elaborate on who Valtor is (which you can read here), and why he’s so dangerous - he also has a Dragon Aura, and unlike Bloom, has mastered control over it.
A few weeks pass and the girls are done with that assignment, and Sky invites everyone to Eraklyon for the Days of Arturia festival.
Riven confides to Stella that he might be falling in love with Sky and she suggests just saying it outright after the party in private, taking advantage of the happy mood and that even if Sky says no at least he’s getting closer to overcoming what happened a few years ago.
Sky confides in Brandon and Nex that he’s starting to think he might be crushing on Riven and doesn’t know how to deal with it, and that it’s adding to the stress of planning the event.
Brandon simply suggests to ask him out after the party so he doesn’t focus on it much, and Nex does the same, also adding that the party is the most pressing matter at the moment and that he can work out his feelings later.
Everyone finally gets to the party and start interacting, with Sky soon to be holding a speech.
Diaspro leaves for a bit to get herself something to drink and is captured by Valtor, who had shown up to the party and wanted to absorb the magic of the Sword of Storms, a magic relic of Eraklyon. She’s forced to help him and ends up then thrown into a dungeon, Valtor then taking her form and going back to dance.
Valtor still needs someone under his control on Eraklyon, since thanks to Chimera he’s running Solaria from the shadows ensuring he doesn’t get caught if a King doesn’t consider him a threat. Disguised as Diaspro, he marks Sky, who then announces he’s gonna get married to Diaspro soon, apparently having been reunited.
He knows this is what most of the noble population was expecting of those two, and this will make them more compliant to obey Sky’s orders.
The Winx and the Specialists immediately see through the bullshit and go approach Sky and Diaspro what’s going on, Riven and Bloom sounding really hurt at this.
Sky orders for them to be arrested and everyone bails, Sky calling in the dragons to attack them. Erendor and Samara are also questioning what’s going on, but Valtor returns to his original form and also sends them to the dungeon so they don’t interfere amidst the chaos.
The dragons quickly go loose and start attacking everyone, and manages to knock Radius and Alessandro, who had been invited as well.
Chimera’s frozen in fear, being just a Charmix fairy who hadn’t seriously fought before, and Stella rushes in to save all of them.
She forces her sceptre to its limit to defend her family even if she’s unsure of what Chimera’s plans are, the staff breaking and her getting hit with the full force of the attack.
Stella earns her Enchantix thanks to this, her sceptre also reforming into a new form - the Staff of the Stars. She leaves immediately after this to escape the dragons, but is happy her dad still seems to be fine, and she caught the slightest glint of remorse in Chimera’s eyes.
Everyone rests in the ship for a bit before immediately turning back, wanting to know exactly what has happened. They saw the mark of Valtor on the neck of the dragons, so they know he has a part in this, and with Brandon’s help, they sneak into the castle the next day.
Valtor on his part goes back to check on Diaspro’s cell once everything started to settle down but realizes she’s escaped, and realizing that without the princess to mark, he’s trapped in the castle in order to keep with the plan.
As everyone else bursts into the castle unnoticed, Bloom starts to realize she might have genuine feelings for Diaspro after how hurt she felt at the announcement, even when she knew it was a farce.
They find Diaspro on the way to Sky’s chambers and while initially cautious, they realize she’s not marked and Bloom immediately hugs her, happy she’s safe.
Now all together, they barge into Sky’s chamber and see him with Valtor-as-Diaspro, who immediately decides to just cut his losses and leaves Eraklyon, Sky still under his control and ordered to attack him.
After a brief fight, Diaspro and Stella use their Essence Dust to remove the mark, and Sky falls seriously ill after this, having to remain in Eraklyon.
Brandon, Riven and Diaspro remain in Eraklyon to look after Sky, as well as help clear everything that’s happened.
A few more weeks past and Valtor has settled in his next targets - Alfea and Cloud Tower. He decides to go to Cloud Tower first, and with the help of the Trix and a clever ruse, manages to enter the building and trap Griffin in the same place she was trapped by the Trix years ago, Valtor taking power from the Eye of the Eagle in Griffin’s office. He then attacks Alfea with the entire marked school as an army.
They all get thrown into a fight and the Trix infiltrate the school as a shadow, trapping a random fairy (Galatea) and forcing them to help them reach the Archive, since according to Valtor that’s where Alfea’s treasure (The Wings of Alfea, a special shield that also helps form the barrier protecting the school) resides.
Musa, Flora and Bloom manage to track them down and defeat them, but the Trix still get the Wings and bail, Darcy casting a cursed fire over the room to delay them further.
Everything starts to be destroyed again and the Winx quickly evacuate Concorda and the other school Pixies as well as Galatea, but she trips with a piece of fallen wood from the bookcases.
She’s about to be crushed by the rest of the bookcases, but Musa rushes in and pushes her out of the way, getting her wings torn off and her leg hurt in the process.
She earns Enchantix thanks to this regardless, which reforms her wings immediately, but she still can’t fly properly due to the pain still being there.
Now with Essence Dust, she can undo the fire in the room, also restoring most of the books in the process.
Valtor and Faragonda had a hard fight during all of this, but Valtor manages to win and traps Faragonda in a tree.
The Winx then go look for Faragonda unaware of her fate, since most of the teachers need to help with the few possessed students they got to trap before Valtor called them back to CT, using their own powers to remove the marks and it’s gonna take a while.
After a brief but very rough adventure in Cloud Tower, the girls finally find Faragonda trapped in a tree, and after informing the staff about this they decide to send the girls to Lynphea, as the tears of the Black Willow can help them and Flora lives near that place.
Flora explains what the Black Willow is on the way there and when they arrive, they meet her sister Miele, a young Witch studying in Lynphea.
The Trix also go to Lynphea around the same time, trying to get the tears themselves as well since it would be useful for Valtor’s plans.
Flora and Miele then elaborate on what the tears are - it’s a special sap produced by the willow with incredible magical healing properties, and using it alongside some Essence Dust would manage to restore Faragonda completely, as Essence Dust alone runs the risk of Faragonda becoming part-tree forever, it’s not as strong with nature. It has mixed overtime with a natural spring around the tree, which has made it stronger but also more unstable.
They finally arrive to the place where the Willow is (a small lake and waterfall called the Water Stairway), and when getting to collect the water Miele warns everyone that the water’s so magically charged there’s no telling what it could do to them, so they have to be careful.
At around the same time the Trix arrive at the Willow, and a fight ensues, Miele showing off her Charmix form.
During the fight Miele is hit hard by Icy’s attack, knocking her out of the air, out of her transformation, and loses conscience, falling into the waters.
Flora immediately and viciously attacks and ensnares the Trix in some thorny vines before diving into the water to save her sister, and she does, managing to send her back to the surface but ends up too weak, her attack on the Trix having drained her, starting to drown.
Miele comes to on the surface and immediately screams for her sister, and Aisha is trying to control the water to bring her back. Flora then rises up on her own, having achieved Enchantix, and then uses her vines to drag the Trix into the waters herself, still pretty angry at them.
The Trix then come out of the water looking the same age as Miele and bail, taking some of the water in the hopes it’ll fix their issue as well. The Winx finally get the water as well and return to Alfea, at last freeing Faragonda.
A month or so passes with relative peace before news break out that the portal to Omega in Antocea has gone haywire, expelling insane amounts of magic due to Valtor and the Trix breaking it to pass through. Aisha once again leaves for Andros with the Winx, hoping she can meet with the still-living Sorcerer that helped make the portal all those years ago, Taboc.
After some battles with criminals that had escaped Omega, they reach the portal with Taboc (having picked him up along the way), but they find themselves unable to do anything, the Portal ejecting too much electrical magic and energy, and Taboc can’t control it, the spell to close it seemingly not working.
As Taboc, Bloom and Aisha consider other options, they realize Tecna’s not saying anything, and when they check, she’s already halfway into the portal.
Everyone else arrives and panics, asking her what does she think she’s doing. Tecna elaborates that since her Source is Electricity, she can maybe manage to disrupt and absorb the magic of the portal and close it once and for all, and asks them to say goodbye to Timmy for her, not believing she’s gonna come out of it alive.
This act earns Tecna her Enchantix, and with her new power and aided by her Dust, she starts casting the closing spell from the inside. A pillar of lightning rises from the center of the portal, and as fast as it came, it disappears, the portal fully closed, Tecna nowhere in sight.
Everyone thinks she might be dead, and in their sorrow and rage, everyone starts crying. Bloom and Musa then stand up, rage the only thing inside them, and decide to go back to Cloud Tower and face Valtor head on, blaming him for Tecna’s apparent death.
The others try to stop them but can’t, and defeated, Stella sends them to Cloud Tower while everyone else goes to Alfea in the hopes the other two will come to their senses.
Once in Cloud Tower, Bloom and Musa fight through the possessed students and fight Valtor head on, but are quickly defeated. He’s about to mark them both when Faragonda, Griffin, Saladin, Daphne and the Winx burst in, attacking Valtor head on and taking the defeated fairies out. Valtor recognizes Daphne and realizes that Bloom is the baby princess of Domino, his anger starting to rise as everyone leaves.
Bloom feels useless after the battle with Valtor, wanting to know how to get a better hold of her Dragon Aura. Daphne offers to help her, and Faragonda decides to send them both to Pyros to train under the Sorceress Maia, an old acquaintance of hers that also has a Dragon Aura.
The two princesses arrive and, after a few mishaps, meet Maia at last, and start training under her. With both Daphne and Maia’s guidance, she starts to get a better hold of her powers.
At the same time, Timmy manages to make contact with Tecna on Omega for a brief moment, and with the Winx’s help, they all go to Omega to fetch her. They end up being attacked by some of the criminals that escaped their capsules and are separated.
The Paladin Order raids Cloud Tower and finds it empty, Valtor having left the place and leaving all the marked Witches there as well. Life slowly returns to normal in the building.
Still on Pyros, Bloom and Daphne are near the end of their stay when they’re attacked by the Trix, sent by Valtor to steal a magic item, but decide to take a detour and try to take down Bloom once and for all.
A fight starts, and while they start winning, Icy starts to focus on Daphne to try and take her down as well, since she might be more dangerous than Bloom. She’s about to stab her but stabs Bloom instead, having jumped between them to protect her sister. This earns her Enchantix, and now with this power, and aided by a VERY angry Daphne, they manage to utterly defeat the Trix, sending them running.
After this event and with a new form, the two princess go back to Alfea, and learn of the fate of Tecna and the rest. At the same time, Sky and the others come back from Eraklyon, having finally recovered from Valtor’s spell. They all leave for Omega.
Once there they end up separated by the same criminals, with the guys on one side and the girls on the other. Bloom and Diaspro keep looking for Tecna until they get ambushed. Both transform and manage to make quick work of the attackers, but the struggle let a stalactite loose, coming for them.
Scared, Diaspro ends up confessing on the spot, and right before the ice hit them it got pulverized by another attack - it’s Tecna, who heard the commotion and wanted to check in.
They all hug, excited to see each other again, but then soon go back to business, trying to find the rest. They all end up falling through a crevice and find the other Winx, and after another happy hug, they all rise up again to the surface after fighting an ice wyrm.
They also finally manage to find the boys (who had all been captured), and after freeing them, they immediately book it out to the ship and back to Magix.
Back on Magix at last, Diaspro finally asks for Bloom’s answer on their feelings, and while Bloom is still not sure if she’s truly attracted to her, they do agree to try a date.
A few weeks have passed, the girls decide to go on a group outing again, as a late celebration for everyone being back together.
They stop to have lunch, and while everyone else orders food, Aisha meets a guy named Ophir, who was asking directions at the start but ended up talking for a few minutes. He excuses himself once everyone else gets back with food, and says that he and Aisha might meet again.
Right as the girls finish eating, Valtor appears in the clouds as a projection, announcing his plans to steal the Eye of Myrari from the nearby museum.
The girls can tell something’s weird about this and go to the museum as well, and after some shenanigans and Ophir showing up in the nick of time (revealing he’s a Fairy in the process), Valtor manages to steal the real treasure he was after - Agador’s Box.
After this event, a few days go by, and Radius and Alessandro’s wedding day is approaching. Stella’s determined to free her dad from Valtor’s mark but has not been invited to the wedding (thanks to Chimera). She decides she’s done waiting around and starts to find a way to get to Solaria and fix this once and for all, and after some brainstorming and help from Nova, they decide on performing as bike stunt performers.
With tutoring from the Specialists, the girls manage to get a good handle on them enough to go to the event, and with Luna’s help from Solaria (who’s informed of all the happenings) they manage to sneak in.
At the same time, Chimera’s panicking - she knows most of the staff has picked up that both Radius and her dad are not acting right and her feelings are in overdrive, becoming more and more unhinged about the whole situation and cursing Stella. She carries out with the wedding regardless.
During the vows, with both Radius and Alessandro looking empty, Stella strikes and disrupts the wedding, calling out Chimera as an ally of Valtor and showing the mark on both of the affected. Chimera simply loses it and transforms on the spot, starting to attack the Winx.
The Winx do the same and Stella and Chimera go one on one, Stella swiftly defeating the manic noble. She simply shuts down completely and remains on the floor, broken.
Stella uses her Essence Dust alongside the others and finally breaks her father and Alessandro free of the curse, she and Radius hugging in joy.
Chimera comes back to her senses and simply says nothing, head hung. Alessandro simply sends her to the Roccaluce Rehabilitation Center, in hopes she can get better, elaborating on her actions - Chimera believes anything new coming into her life will be trouble, and after meeting Stella she convinced herself she would throw her out the second she got the chance to, entering a circle of paranoia and anxiety that overtook her.
Radius and Alessandro cancel the wedding and decide to have at another date, in hopes Chimera’s recovery is steady so they can all celebrate it fully. Stella also finally announces her new title - she’s the Heir of the Stars, and Fairy of the Cosmic Light, refusing both sun and moon and choosing her own path. She gets her Solarian mark as well.
Once back on Alfea, a few more days pass until Daphne comes to their dorm in the dead of night for a hidden mission, something she cannot share with Faragonda.
She has found out about the Liquid Aura Stars, ancient and terrible objects that could drain a magi’s Aura to almost extinguish it, and feels this might be the only thing they can use against Valtor. (Learn more about them here!)
After some calls and some clever excuses, Stella teleports them outside of Alfea and into a Red Fountain ship with the guys, who are helping them get in the area the Stars are supposedly hidden.
After another run-in with gryphons, they get there with more or less no issues, aside from Ophir also being there for some reason, claiming that he wanted to help.
They’re faced by a lot of beings on the way to the place, and Ophir shows off his powers, as well as befriending everyone on the way.
They arrive at a weird formation of gems and trees called the Crystal Labyrinth, where the Stars supposedly reside at the center of the maze. Everyone tries to enter together, but crystals suddenly cover the entrance, trapping Daphne, Aisha and Tecna on the other side and dividing them further, a voice echoing in the distance talking about some sort of trial.
The three girls advance regardless, and seemingly manage to reach the center, but there are two doors, the voice speaking again that to get to the Stars, they must pass this test.
Aisha is shown her parents finally breaking off the engagement, letting her be free at last, and on the other door, the Liquid Aura Stars reside. While she would love for her parents to finally accept her wishes, she knows she can get through them in her own, and goes for the Stars.
Tecna is shown all the knowledge in the world, all at her disposal, and on the other door, the Liquid Aura Stars reside. While part of her wants to just delve in into all that information, she knows her friends and the Stars are more important, and she can acquire all that information on her own, after all.
Daphne is shown Domino fully restored, her parents and her people okay and alive and happy, and on the other door, the Liquid Aura Stars reside. While Daphne would love nothing more than to restore her home immediately, she’s certain she will find the way on her own, and Domino, as much as it hurts her, can wait. She goes for the Stars.
They all arrive at the center and retrieve the stars in their casket, the maze disappearing around them and reuniting with the rest, going back to Alfea.
They somehow manage to get by without Faragonda or the rest of the staff knowing about what they just did (since taking the Stars is HIGHLY ILLEGAL), and decide to celebrate this as well as Stella freeing her kingdom by going out at night all together, with special permission from Faragonda.
During this trip, Sky and Riven decide to talk at last about what happened in Eraklyon, and how Riven helped Sky to get better. They both end up confessing to one another and start dating.
At the same time, Ophir shows up and reveals his true identity to Aisha - he’s Nabu, the man she’s supposed to marry. He wanted to meet her before the deal was done since he heard Aisha was already dating someone, and since he doesn’t want the marriage either they decide to arrange a meeting with their parents once and for all to annul the arrangement.
As they leave, Valtor appears in the sky as a projection again, challenging the headmasters of the schools to a match out of nowhere.
Everyone thinks this is suspicious but the headmasters take the challenge regardless, leaving their colleagues to protect the schools if something bad happens.
The battle starts but at no point Valtor fights in it, instead casting a powerful illusion spell to make it look like everyone is fighting Valtor despite actually fighting themselves.
He teleports to Alfea to look for whatever the Winx took recently - he knows they have something but doesn’t know what is.
The Winx intercept him, however, and a battle breaks. Valtor manages to defeat Aisha and Stella and almost marks them until Bloom barges in with the Stars, and starts draining Valtor of his magic.
She stops right before it would have gone to lethal levels, and almost detains him if it wasn’t for the Trix’s interference, who manage to drag him back to their hiding spot.
While Faragonda congratulates the girls on their plan, she also tells them they’re gonna have to go to court once Valtor is dealt with since they did violate some heavy laws getting the Stars.
Valtor, still weak, pulls one last power hidden in the Box (which he has been using to hold all the stolen powers so far), one he stole a long, long time ago and has been saving as a last ditch resort - the Spell of the Elements, one of the strongest powers ever created.
He casts different natural disasters to all the schools plus Magica City (an inferno to Alfea, tornadoes to Red Fountain, a flood using Lake Roccaluce’s water to Cloud Tower, and an earthquake to Magica), and demanding Bloom to face him once and for all, wanting revenge and nothing else.
Faced with the disaster, Bloom agrees, and the rest of the Winx plus Diaspro and Daphne go with her, Daphne wanting him to pay for what he did to the Lake, still holding a lot of memories for her.
Once they arrive they’re immediately dragged down to a makeshift cave made on the lakebed, the Trix arriving to fight the Winx plus Diaspro while Bloom and Daphne face Valtor head on.
As they fight, Valtor reveals what his plan was - to undo the curse on Domino, and free the country from the eternal winter. This leaves everyone confused, until he elaborates further that he himself cast the spell of eternal winter, but it has been tampered with and modified over the years, which made it impossible for him to undo.
He’s been stealing powers and getting people under his control from different realms so that once he frees Domino, he can finally take over it as its new king, aided by the people he has under his control to support him.
However, explaining his plan has made him careless, and after a good hit on him by Daphne, Bloom rushes to Agador’s Box. Valtor tries his hardest to stop her, but he’s in turn stopped by the rest of the Winx that have already defeated the Trix, and Bloom destroys the lock on the box, freeing all the magic Valtor has stolen from all the realms, leaving him powerless.
He decides to call back the elements with the last spell in his possession, and the waters of the lake start rushing back at a fast pace. Everyone starts to make a run for it but Valtor remains down there, still transformed somehow, frantically searching in case a spell still remains there. The waters come crashing down and the cave collapses with Valtor still there, and everyone else made it to the surface more or less safe. Valtor is never seen again, and is presumed dead.
The Paladin Order arrives as soon as all the other disasters stopped, and arrests both the Trix and the Winx on the spot for their crimes. A month of court meetings and cases ensue, held in trial for different things for both teams, with the Specialists, Helia and Nabu also held accountable.
After a month, a verdict is finally reached - while the heroes did break a very important law, it was done to protect the realms for an even bigger threat, and as such are charged with 2 months of community service, fixing all the damage Valtor’s spells have caused as well as just general helping around, and in the case of the magis, they’re cursed with a magic-restraining spell that will fade in a month, heavily limiting their magic usage.
As for the Trix, they cannot be sent to Omega as the prison is still a mess after the portal shenanigans, so they will be held in the Order of Mana’s dungeons until a more fitting place is found.
There are still 3 months of school left, and with the magic limiter it’s gonna be a pain, but the teachers are understanding at least so they’ll just have to work extra hard on finals. The worst has passed.
Daphne is called to Faragonda’s office and is given a book full of notes - it’s the one thing Valtor left behind untouched, found in a cave nearby. It details all the research he was doing on Domino’s curse, and she felt Daphne could use it.
Teredor and Niobe, alongside Nabu’s parents, show up to Alfea called by Aisha, and both she and Nabu finally face them and call them out, denying the arranged marriage. Teredor and Niobe finally agree to cancel the wedding as it’s clear neither of them wish to marry, and to strain their relationship with their daughter even further is unwise. Nabu’s parents also agree, but they seem more hesitant about it. The two young adults celebrate, and Nabu earns his Glamourix thanks to finally expressing his true feelings.
Sky and Riven also officially announce their relationship, as do Bloom and Diaspro. Everything seems to be going fine, and aside from having to pay for their technical crimes, everyone is happy the rest of the school year is going to be more calm...
