🚢 for Audrey maybe
do i ship our characters together?: yes | no | not yet but maybe soon
would i like to ship with you?: yes | maybe, i'm willing to try | no
type of relationship i could see: childhood or high school sweethearts | exes | engaged | married | long-term relationship | crushes | unrequited love | fling | long distance | online relationship | just dating | new relationship | toxic lovers | friends with benefits
tropes i'd enjoy writing for them: friends to lovers | enemies to lovers | exes to lovers | fake relationship / dating | forbidden love | grumpy and sunshine | star-crossed lovers | surprise pregnancy | second chance | soulmates | amnesia / mistaken identity | forced proximity | secret relationship | slow burn relationship
would i rather plot first or jump right in and see where it goes?: develop their relationship first | jump right in | something in between - i love chatting about ships! but we can also wing it and just have fun jumping around in the timeline, even. i'm really flexible about this sort of thing!
what now?: let's plot something | send me shippy memes | i'll send you shippy memes | write me a random starter | i'll write you a random starter
anything else i want you to know about me / my character / my shipping habits: i get obsessed so easily fr i just love relationships and exploring them and where they can go >:))))

A Date for the Holidays (and everyday too would be nice)
Tumblr media
Summary: Tired of the constant backlash from her family about being single, Emma finds herself striking an arrangement with a roguishly handsome stranger at the mall the day after Christmas. Now she won’t have to be alone for the holidays. Emma and Killian agree to be each others dates, no strings attached, no commitment, no pressure. Just two friends getting together to appease her annoying family and get his brother off his back. It’s the perfect setup really...until sticking to the holidays isn’t enough. What happens when they both want more? Holidate AU A/N: So I watched the Holidate the other night and couldn't stop thinking about how much fun it would be to turn this into a CS fic. So here we are. This probably won't be too long, I'll be getting back to my wips soon, just needed a break, but probably 4 or 5 chapters or so. Hope you enjoy! Thank you to the ladies on Discord for your encouragement and enabling ;-) Thank you to the lovely @veryverynotgood for beta reading!
Wow, I really got behind on posting here, I actually have 7 chapters posted and 9 written
Catch up: Ch 1 // Ch 2 // Ch 3 // Ch 4 // Ch 5 // Ch 6 // Ch 7 // Ch 8 // Ch 9 // Ch 10 // Ch 11
Chapter 5
Easter
“So, did you figure out if you two actually slept together?”
Emma’s eyes widen as she looks over at Elsa. “I told you, we didn’t,” she whisper-shouts to her cousin.
After Killian left that morning, Emma was freaking out, thinking maybe, possibly, she did sleep with him, so she called her cousins to vent. She may have insisted nothing happened that night, even though she wasn’t sure. Especially since she found pictures she’d snapped of them the night before—pictures of them kissing at a table at Wild Bull, and an actual kiss on the lips, not cheek-kissing—which must’ve taken place after they both rode the bull. She may have taken a few pregnancy tests just to be sure (which all turned out to be negative) but she refuses to believe anything happened between them. They were both pretty smashed that night, so she thinks they probably kissed, went back to her place planning to have sex and even went as far as to undress, but they were both too tired and ended up passing out on the couch together.
Or at least, that’s what she likes to believe.
“He’s really handsome, by the way,” Anna beams as the three of them watch Killian chase the kids around the backyard, pretending to be a dinosaur. “And he seems to be really good with the children.”
Elsa nods in agreement. “Daisy sure seems to like him, too,” she comments about her ten-year-old daughter.
Emma nurses her coffee so she doesn’t have to respond. Of course she agrees; Killian is gorgeous and he’s amazing with kids and he’s fun to be around, plus he’s not a complete douchebag like Neal, and he most likely wouldn’t break her heart into a million pieces. He’s perfect, actually, but she knows from experience no one is truly perfect.
Everyone has their flaws and their own set of personal baggage, and she knows nothing, and she means nothing, is ever as good as it seems. She’d learned that the hard way more than once. But she’s content with just being friends with him. She’s happy to spend more time with him, regardless of any romantic feelings she may be developing. Every holiday they’ve spent together so far has been significantly more fun than if she’d spent them alone. And for once in her life, her family isn’t trying to set her up with anyone or feeling sorry for her.
If her brother wasn’t at his soon-to-be in-laws' since he and Audrey spent Christmas with his family, he wouldn’t even get to mock Emma for being alone on yet another holiday. Pretending to date Killian has kept even her mother at bay for the moment. She didn’t seem happy when Emma mentioned she was bringing Killian to Easter brunch, but only because she invited her neighbor, Graham, over to the house after the children’s Easter egg hunt.
“Happy Easter, my little bunnies!” Aunt Ruby greets as she enters the backyard, making her appearance in a black playboy bunny costume and long fuzzy ears. “This is Jesús,” she introduces her holidate, who has long, wavy brown hair, a beard and is dressed in all white.
Mary Margaret gasps as she approaches her best friend, gaping at her in horror. “What in God’s name are you wearing?!”
Ruby furrows her brows, not knowing what Mary Margaret’s problem is. “Bunny ears.”
Elsa and Anna are both amused and snorting into their palms, but not really surprised. They leave the picnic table and head toward their children, urging them toward the play castle Kristoff, David and Leo had built for them. Emma’s father is burying his face in his hands at the head of the table as Killian comes over and sits next to Emma, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. She leans into him and buries her face in his chest, trying to fight back a laugh at her aunt.
“This is an Easter brunch and there are children here. This is not the time for an inappropriate costume,” Emma’s mother chides Ruby just before someone in a full bunny suit comes hopping toward them.
“Looks like someone else didn’t get the memo,” Emma remarks, taking a sip of her coffee.
The person removes the head to reveal Graham.
Just great.
Emma groans to herself. She can’t believe her mother invited him. Well, actually, she can.
“Graham!” Mary Margaret rushes over to hug him. “I’m so glad you could make it!”
“Sorry I’m late. I was doing rounds for the kids in the cancer ward.”
“Aww, so sweet.” Emma’s mother nearly swoons.
Ruby, who seems to be taken by him too, walks up to Graham and stops him in his tracks, placing her hand on his chest. “I like a man in fur.”
Emma’s mother pulls him away from her best friend, knowing exactly how she is and how she chews men up and spits them out. “You remember my daughter, Emma,” she says, directing him toward her.
“Hi, of course.” Graham extends his hand, and Emma flashes a polite smile, shaking it. “You’re even prettier in person.”
“Oh...thank you.”
Killian thrusts his hand out to introduce himself to the other man. “I’m Killian. Nice to meet you. Dig the bunny suit.”
“Thank you,” Graham says, shaking his hand.
“I’m sorry, Graham.” Emma’s mother says, apology on her face. “We weren’t expecting Emma to bring a guest.”
Emma plasters on a fake smile. “Oh really? Because I remember explicitly saying I was bringing Killian.”
Sensing the tension in the air, Graham quickly excuses himself from the table. “I’ll just go say hi to the kids.”
Once he’s gone, Emma glares at her mother. “I can’t believe you forgot I was bringing Killian and tried to set me up on Easter…” she gestures toward Graham, whispering, “with a bunny.”
“I wasn’t trying to set you up. He’s our neighbor and didn’t have any plans. I couldn’t not invite him,” her mother explains. She glances between Emma and Killian. “So does this mean you and Killian are a couple now?”
Emma looks at Killian, who gives her a reassuring nod, silently telling her it’s okay to tell Mary Margaret they’re together. Even though they’re not. She turns back to her mother and nods. “Yes, we are. Now can you stop setting me up with Graham...or anyone else for that matter?”
Her mother sighs as if Emma’s asking her to gouge her eyeballs out. “Fine….” She points to Killian. “But I’m expecting grandbabies soon, got it?”
Killian smiles bashfully, his cheeks flushed as he wraps his arm around Emma’s shoulders again. “Of course.”
“Sweetheart, don’t pressure them. They’ll have babies when they’re ready,” David says, getting up and walking over to his wife.
Thankfully, Mary Margaret drops the subject and heads inside the house to bring out the carrot cake she’d baked, her husband following close behind to help.
As soon as she’s out of sight, Emma buries her face in her hands and groans. “I’m so sorry about her. She’s so embarrassing.”
Killian places a reassuring hand on her back and makes soothing circles over her white and red floral dress. “No judgments, remember?”
Emma lifts her head, flashing him a smile, thankful for the first rule of their holiday arrangement. “Thank you.” She rests her head on his shoulder and he plants a kiss on her hair.
“Of course, love.”
~🐇~
When her parents return with the cake and dessert plates, Emma and Killian each take a slice to the castle where Daisy fills three teacups from the teapot, pretending the fruit punch is tea.
“How are things with Levi, the juice box king?” Emma asks with a smile as she drinks her “tea” and recalls sitting next to Daisy at the kids’ table on Christmas, listening as her niece confessed she had a boyfriend who shared his juice box with her everyday during recess.
“We broke up.”
Emma’s smile falls as she sets down her cup. “Aww, I’m sorry to hear that.”
“It’s okay. He wasn’t ready for a real relationship. I need someone who’s going to put me first.” She shrugs. “Gotta go.” She sets down her teacup and leaves the castle while Emma stares at her admirably.
“Wow, she’s so smart.”
Killian nods in agreement as he looks out the castle doorway and sees Graham passing his bunny head to one of Emma’s nephews and letting him try it on. He’s Anna’s and Kristoff’s kid and is a spitting image of his father, with his shaggy blonde hair and goofy smile.
“The bunny doctor seems nice,” Killian comments, pointing toward him. “Maybe you should go for it.”
Emma gapes at him, raising her brows in surprise as she takes a bite of her cake.
Please tell me he’s not trying to set me up with him too, Emma grumbles inwardly.
“Really?”
Killian shrugs and takes a bite of his own slice. “Why not? Full head of hair…doctor…obviously great with kids…every woman’s dream, right?”
She snorts, shaking her head slightly. “I don’t know…maybe?” She sighs and hangs her head, frowning. “Even if he is, I’m not ready.”
“It’s been what...almost a year now?”
Emma snaps her head up, throwing him a glare. “So? Women process heartbreak differently. We need time. You just dump us and move on.” Emma rolls her eyes, taking another sip of her drink.
“Oi, women can be just as brutal, trust me.”
Emma tilts her head doubtfully.
“I know plenty of blokes who had their hearts crushed by some lass who pretended to care about them…who pretended to like his friends…and was interested in his hobbies like fishing...and cricket...” Emma raises her brows, quickly realizing he’s not talking about his friends or guys in general, but rather his own personal experience with a woman who broke his heart. “And she even went as far as to fill his bathroom with all her girly crap and hide bobby pins in the strangest of places.” His voice grows louder as the topic riles him up a bit. “And then one day…without warning…the bathroom’s cleared out, Milah changed her phone number and snuck out of my flat with a panini maker.”
Emma would have laughed at Killian’s slip-up if she didn’t feel bad for him. She knows exactly how it feels to think you’re in a relationship for the long haul and then suddenly find out how wrong you were. It definitely hardens you.
“A fucking panini maker,” he repeats in a whisper.
“Well…” Emma tries to think of something comforting to say. “Panini makers are expensive.” As if that’s supposed to make him feel better.
He nods and offers a sarcastic smile as he jabs a finger at his chest. “Oh, I know. I paid for it.”
Silence fills the castle as they return to their cake. Emma’s heart sinks as she thinks about what Killian just told her. She’d suspected some woman broke his heart, but he’d never mentioned it before now. And she can’t understand why someone would do that to Killian. He may not be a doctor like Graham, but he’s still perfect, from what she knows about him.
She wants so badly to let her walls down—to let him in. If only it were as easy for her as it is for the rest of her family.
Her dad and brother love him, probably more than they love Emma, her mother is happy thinking he will knock Emma up in the future and her cousins think he’s a great guy. Which he is. And having her family accept him doesn’t exactly help Emma reign in her feelings for him.
Not at all.
Which means she’s completely screwed.
And not the good kind of screwed she thought she might have been on St. Patty’s Day. No, the kind of screwed that might lead to her heart getting shattered into a million pieces again.

After a Million Miles or So, We Might Find Out We're Home (SFWeek Day 7)
Tumblr media
Regency Era AU or Free Day
AO3 || FFN
@mysteryandnonstopfun
“You’re going to combine all the realms?” Emma asked, staring at Regina with wide eyes.
Regina nodded, her hands already crackling with the restrained magic of the scroll clutched in her fingers. “I am. I think it’s for the best. No more curses, no more being caught off-guard by people that exist…”
Emma wrinkled her nose at that. No amount of acceptance would take away the shock of discovering Les Miserables or The Avengers were real people.
But she knew Regina was right. For too long the realms had been separated, and too many people had gotten hurt in the process. Curse after curse, villain after villain…
And, Emma realized, it would actually allow the Storybrooke residents the ability to travel. No, they wouldn’t be able to go to Disneyworld, or New York City, or Tallahassee, but they’d be able to get out of the tiny little town they’d called home for decades, without being ripped away from her again.
A happy beginning.
So it was cast, a piece of everyone’s heart sacrificed in the process, from hero and reformed villain alike, and Storybrooke? Well, it got much, much more crowded.
Which meant that, for a few weeks, Emma and the other sheriffs were incredibly busy, registering the inhabitants of the respective realms, welcoming them, and making sure everyone was able to settle in. A transportation system had been drafted by several builders, and had been completed in a few days thanks to the various magic-users in the lands.
It was a little unnerving how quick everything seemed to fall into place, and before long, things had settled down into a routine.
A few months after the dust settled, Neal slapped a map down on the table after their daughter Audrey had left for school.
“What’s this?” she questioned, sipping at her coffee.
“It’s a map of the Realms,” he said with that same love-sick puppy dog look on his face. “I thought you and I could go on vacation, just the two of us.”
Huh. Now that was an idea. She couldn’t remember the last time they’d had any sort of vacation alone. If it wasn’t something at the school they needed to support Audrey with, it was some sort of villainous disaster waiting in Storybrooke, or they were cursed in Hyperion Heights, as a bitter, angry, divorced couple with a daughter caught between them.
They hadn’t had time to just… be free.
“I suppose it would only be fair if Audrey got to choose who she stayed with, if we’re bailing on her for a week or two,” Emma said.
“Well, she is seventeen. It wouldn’t be fair if she got stuck and grandma and grandpa’s. A farm and a pawn shop don’t seem to be all that hip with the teens,” Neal replied with a grin.
“God, we’re not that old, Neal,” she replied, rolling her eyes.
“Emma, we’re grandparents. I think it’s time to pack it up on the young game.”
“Oh? Then maybe we should spend our vacation looking at retirement homes, then,” she said. “Since you’re so convinced we no longer have our youth.”
Neal’s face went red. “Well, maybe we don’t go that far, but - ”
Emma laughed. “It’s fine, Neal. I’ll tell Philip I’m taking a couple weeks off. I’m sure he’ll understand.” It was rare for Emma to take a day off, so it might provide some relief in the office anyway.
Audrey had been understandably ecstatic about being away from her parents. Emma didn’t understand the feeling, but as long as her daughter was happy, that was all she cared about.
What hadn’t made her all that happy was when Audrey decided to stay with her boyfriend, rather than with a friend, Henry, or even one set of grandparents. But Emma and Neal had promised it would be anyone, so, with Audrey taken care of, the two of them were off on their great adventure.
“You said Arendelle first, right?” Neal asked.
"Yeah, I thought it'd be nice to see Elsa and Anna again."
"It has been quite a while since they crashed into Storybrooke. I wonder if Anna still sword fights. Might be fun to set up a match between her and your dad."
"I think dad would love that."
The snowy landscape of Arendelle gave way to the sparkling desert sands of Agrabah, where they caught up with Aladdin and Jasmine. From there, they traveled south to Camelot, where they were greeted with… a mixed welcome.
Lancelot, at least, welcomed them with open arms, and since he was the newly-crowned king, it seemed any dissenters kept their mouths shut.
They hadn’t stayed more than a night before venturing to Oz to visit with Red and Dorothy.
Knowing that her mother could see Red more often made Emma happy. She knew it had been hard over the years, with only a mirror to talk through, and even that had only come five years after Red had left for Oz.
Then they made their way to Erik and Ariel’s beachy kingdom.
“Think this makes up for us missing out on Tallahassee?” Neal questioned as they spread out on the beach for a picnic. It was every bit of a corny romantic movie, with the sun setting, the sky brilliant shades of pink and orange as the few rays left reflected off the water’s low tide.
Emma laughed. “More than, considering the nearest beach to Tallahassee is two hours away.”
“What?”
She shrugged. “I spent a couple years there after I got out of juvie. Thought you’d show.”
He winced, scratching the back of his neck. “I’m sorry, Em. I didn’t think you'd want to see me. Wasn’t sure what August had been planning.”
“It’s okay. I understand,” she said, reaching to take his free hand. “We found our way back to each other, and everything’s worked out.”
Neal smiled, squeezing her hand. “We found our way home.”

For better or for worse, I have a job that is exempt - to a great degree - from the widespread need for isolation (in the world of news radio, the show must go on). However, I do get days off and thank goodness for that because my brain can only take so much constant pandemic talk.
So! I offer up ‘the ultimate music list’, something I started doing on YouTube last year. Maybe earlier. It’s a living list, it will never be complete. Anyway, listen to the way my music mind rambles! All songs listed on the other side of the keep reading line (not linked, you gotta do some of the work):

“don’t get your hopes up too high”: An Exhaustively Curated 2018 Playlist
So, since time immemorial I have been putting together year-end playlists and for a long time they were pretty sloppy affairs overall.  Last year, I decided to make up some kind of formula for putting these playlists together.  Basically what it comes down to is, from every new album I listen to, released in the given year, I pick one song.  No repeating artists because that gets to be too much (although featured acts aren’t subject to this rule).  When deciding what releases are going to get my attention, aside from my own personal tastes (skews toward alt. rock and punk a lot of the time) and releases from longtime favorites (this year we saw releases from Metric, and Animal Collective, as well as a long-awaited A Perfect Circle album, and even a Spotify single from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs), I try to get give more of my time to queer artists (and this year there were TONS of queer acts releasing great music--Adult Mom, Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers, Janelle Monae, Snail Mail, SOPHIE, etc. etc. etc. hallelujah).  I also try to make an effort broaden my musical worldview by making time for artists that operate within genres I don’t always naturally gravitate towards.  This was a great year to get back into hip-hop (Rico Nasty, Cardi B, Tierra Whack, Black Panther OST) after not really vibing with some of the directions it has taken in the past ten or so years.  I have also tried to include a track by every band I saw in 2018, providing they actually released something in 2018 and it is available on Spotify (strong apologies to Partner, Bully, Shellshagg, Kimya Dawson, Rozwell Kid, Los Campesinos, the incomparable Liz Phair, and the legendary Fleetwood Mac--y’all didn’t release anything this year).  I give myself until the end of January of the following year to finalize my expansive, year-end playlist, and here we are.  This years playlist is over 15 hours long--almost long enough to put on while you’re doing all that laundry you've been putting off.  I hope you enjoy.

Frozen the Musical - My Act One Thoughts
Hi friends! So... here we go! I saw Frozen twice while I was in Denver - once on August 18th and once on August 19th. A few things you should probably know before we delve into all my thoughts: 1. I’ve been a musical theatre nerd for most of my life. I went to a performing arts high school for musical theatre, and majored in theatre arts administration in college. 2. I am also a Disney nerd - always have been and always will be. I did the DCP in Walt Disney World and absolutely adored it. 3. Frozen has been my absolute favorite movie in the entire world since I first saw it back in 2013. I’ve made very good friends with Anna at all kinds of local parties and gatherings, run Frozen camps, and more. So... we can imagine how COMPLETELY ELATED I was when they announced they were creating Frozen on Broadway. Which leads me to point 4... Caissie Levy. I saw Caissie in Ghost back in 2012 and was ASTOUNDED by the sheer talent I was witnessing. Caissie has without a doubt become my absolute favorite performer, but more than that, she’s become an incredible mentor. So when I found out she was going to be LEADING this show, I MIGHT have lost my shit just a little bit (read: a lot).
With all that said... I hope that makes it clear that I know my way around good theatre, but I also have some implicit bias. I will try my best to stay as objective as I possibly can (which will probably be not at all tbh) while also fangirling my heart out.
Now. Let’s talk Frozen the Musical! Prepare for a novel.
- Preshow. They have some really cool sound effects and a projection of the Northern Lights that move around. It’s really pretty, and helps to put you in that mystical setting.
- The show opens with the newly introduced Hidden Folk. Let’s talk about them for a hot second. I get why they moved away from the trolls - having seen the stage show at the Hyperion out in Disneyland, the trolls would have been too campy and weird for what they’re trying to do with this show. I love the concept - the traditional Norwegian Huldufolk are the perfect fill in. The execution, IMO, needs some work. Crystal necklaces that light up just like in the movie? Super cool. Glowing eyes in the pitch black? REALLY cool. Long, swingy tails that make them look like non-blue Na’vi from Avatar? Not so much.
- Hearing Vuelie in person with that incredible ensemble was enough on its own to basically send me into a coma.
- THE YOUNGINS. Oh my LORD. They are so ridiculously good - especially the Young Annas, Audrey and Mattea. Their comedic timing is so good... you really can’t help but laugh every time they speak (”like run naked in the breeze!” I died).
- “Anna and Elsa” is adorable and just introduces us to the sisters. They also worked in a chunk of the cut song from the movie “We Know Better”, which was perfect and made me extraordinarily happy.
- “A Little Bit of You” is so stinking cute. And then Elsa hits Anna and your heart hurts. So thanks for that, Lopez crew (I’ll be saying that a lot tbh).
- The scene where the Queen summons the hidden folk is one that I would not be surprised to be tweaked. She started chanting and people started giggling (because tbh it is a little strange - it sounds incredibly dramatic), which is definitely not what you want happening there.
- Elsa asks Pabbie to remove her magic altogether because she’s afraid of what she’ll do, which just hurts my heart. He asks her to close her eyes and tell him what she sees, and it’s basically a premonition of the coronation - she sees a monster. Tears.
- Elsa is also the one who basically says “keep Anna away from me while I figure this magic thing out,” which is also devastating because that adds another layer of her guilt to what we knew from the movie.
- Another change from the movie - the girls are still their young selves when their parents die at sea. OUCH. I think it’s more effective, honestly.
- Caissie got entrance applause and that was the first time I cried. #proudmama
- Let’s take a moment to talk about PATTI FREAKING MURIN. I’m not going to lie to you - I was really worried about what they were doing with her in all the promotional stuff we saw, but I had no reason to be. Patti is the perfect Anna. She is adorkable, silly, fun loving, and tender and vulnerable when she needs to be. Anna is undoubtedly my favorite princess... Patti lives up to it.
- There are a few lyric tweaks in “For The First Time In Forever” to go with the action on stage - i.e. there are not 8,000 salad plates, so it wouldn’t make sense to sing about them.
- The scepter and orb glow at Elsa’s touch and it’s REALLY cool.
- The moment when they opened the gates and the whole ensemble spilled in... the second time I cried. It was so epic and just a beautiful, beautiful moment. All those voices harmonizing... it was overwhelming.
- Sven got entrance applause. I’m still trying to figure out how he’s maneuvered?! Literally the most lifelike reindeer puppet you could imagine.
- Obviously we have no horses on stage, so Anna and Hans bump into each other and fall into Kristoff’s ice cart, which is a nice touch.
- Anna makes an heir and spare joke - another reference to a cut song from the movie (my favorite one, so I was thrilled).
- John Riddle as Hans... he’s SPECTACULAR. He’s not a ginger, but I guess I’ll forgive him because he is incredibly good looking and SO charming. And that voice! He makes you fall in love with him. Which makes you hate him even more later on.
- Queen Anointed is GORGEOUS in every sense. There’s a little section of choreography as the church bells ring that was very, very cool - the ensemble moves in and out of line with each chime. Hard to explain, but visually gorgeous.
- As the ensemble is singing, Elsa is basically silhouetted upstage while the priest puts on her cape and they walk the orb and scepter in. The lighting here just made me melt.
- Dangerous to Dream. There’s already been some pretty good discussion about this (see @frozenartscapes and @not-rotting for that fun), but oh MAN. After the first verse, Anna runs in and kneels downstage with her hands over her heart and Elsa sings directly at her. UGH. After she’s crowned, she observes the festivities and sings the rest of the song as Anna is shown enjoying it - dancing, being lifted up on a chair, etc. All while Elsa just looks on longingly. My heart.
- Robert Creighton as the Duke is the wonderful blend of funny, creepy (”Let me tame you with my tango” and “you’ll be looking for a king, no doubt” ugh), and dastardly that the role demands.
- The camaraderie between the sisters as Anna disses the Duke is perfection.
- Love is an Open Door. WHERE DO I START. Take the movie and ramp it up by about 800%. Sexual tension is not off limits here. Anna runs her hands over Hans’s chest, Hans grabs Anna’s butt, there’s some panting, there’s a very cute dance break where he has her leg up by her face in a split and she’s like “ow ow ow ow ow” and then she somehow ends up on the ground beneath him... and then as the song ends, he buries his face in her chest and then they proceed to make out for at LEAST 30 seconds as all the coronation-goers filter in. It is hilarious, and on the second night recording, you can literally hear me go “I thought this was a family show!” lmao.
- Elsa freezing the ballroom - the spikes shoot out of the wall and I was legitimately concerned someone was going to be impaled on stage. It’s so organic and realistic!
- After Elsa runs out of the ballroom, you see the various townspeople as they run to safety... then Elsa stumbles forward, catches herself on the proscenium of the stage, and then the proscenium freezes in what was my first “WTF IS HAPPENING” moment of the show. The projections there... omg. Otherworldly.
- Ah, and now I get to talk about Jelani as Kristoff. GUYS. He’s SO GOOD. His voice is divine. He is SO PERFECTLY SASSY, but like Patti, when he’s a softie, he just melts your heart. He and Patti play so well off of each other - their witty banter is everything you’d hope and more. Kristanna shippers, rest assured, your hearts will flutter.
- I mentioned in a previous post that right before “What Do You Know About Love”, Kristoff literally rips off Anna’s dress before she changes into Kristoff’s clothes and that was the moment I died. My shipper heart.
- Speaking of... “What Do You Know About Love”. WE FINALLY HAVE A KRISTANNA DUET, Y’ALL. And it was worth the wait. It’s 5 minutes of stellar witty banter. God bless. The music is also CATCHY AF.
- The bridge! It’s very, very cool. One of my favorite scenic elements in the show.
- “You’ve got some guts.” “You’ve got some... brains.” I’ll leave it at that.
- When Olaf makes his grand entrance, you hear his voice all around the theater. Which caused absolutely everyone to collectively lose their shit while turning around in their seats. Hilarity.
- The Olaf puppet, for anyone who hasn’t seen yet, is done very similarly to Timon from The Lion King. Anytime Greg moves his feet, Olaf moves. Same with the hands.
- Greg as Olaf. There were moments I had to remind myself that Greg did NOT, in fact, voice Olaf in the movie. He’s that spot-on, but of course with his own flair. 12/10 casting.
- “In Summer”. It’s just as ridiculous as you might imagine, though not as campy as it is in DCA with the random backup dancers in flippers and scuba gear. There’s just random birds flying in on a stick instead.
- “If there’s one thing Arendelle can handle, it’s snow.” - Anna, cut immediately to “I CAN’T HANDLE ALL OF THIS SNOW!” - The Duke.
- “Hans of the Southern Isles (Reprise)” - aka the “I’m Hans and I’m gonna manipulate the entire town into believing I’m the greatest thing since sliced bread but HEY I’m humble no big deal” song.
- The moment you’ve all been waiting for (along with literally everyone in the theatre who audibly squealed at the first notes)... “Let It Go”. Aka the moment I officially LOST. MY. SHIT. I waited to talk about Caissie until this moment because this is the first time we get to see her in all her belty, sparkly glory. She. Is. Perfection. She looks the part, she acts the part, she sings the SHIT out of it.
- I will say - the song is back in its intended key, which means it’s a half step lower than we hear in the movie (cut to a clip of Idina being like “but what if I sing it a half step up just this once?” and then hating her life as every child on the planet began to sing the song). But that makes it no less belty and beautiful. Rather than just letting that last note kind of fade like you hear on the soundtrack, Caissie takes it up to the high heavens and the sky opens up and you melt into a puddle on the floor. Wait... that was me. Definitely me.
- Scenically, I wanted a little bit more. The projections are cool, and the massive wall of Swarovski crystals that dropped from the ceiling was sparkly enough to blind me. But other than that, the stage felt a bit empty. The rumor is that they have another plan for Broadway - which makes sense since they’re in a temporary home and it wouldn’t make sense to build any really massive set pieces until they’re in a place where they can do that. They know they could pretty much put Caissie in a trash bag, throw her on stage to sing this song, and the crowd would still lose their minds. Save the magic for the big guns. At least, I hope that’s what’s going to happen!
- The dress change. There was a clip floating around from the show Friday night, and the timing of the flash was off, so it’s unfortunate that’s the one that got passed around (even though it’s still freaking incredible!) because you can kind of see the magic. Saturday night, you couldn’t see a thing and LORDY BE. It is truly magical. And the dress! It’s STUNNING. I sobbed both nights. Like... ugly crying, heavy sobbing.
And with that... I went into the lobby going “I’M GONNA PASS OUT MOM, I SWEAR. I’M GONNA PASS OUT MY FACE IS TINGLY I’M GONNA PASS OUT” because I was so overwhelmed and it was intermission.
Thanks for tuning in for Act 1... Act 2 to come later!

Mended. Chapter 9.
Chapter 1| Chapter 2| Chapter 3| Chapter 4| Chapter 5| Chapter 6| Chapter 7| Chapter 8
Audrey’s Point of View
I was sweeping up theater 3 when someone wrapped their arms around my waist and pressed a kiss to the back of my neck. The tension immediately left my body as I leaned back into Ari’s embrace, forgoing my job to place my hands over hers. She hummed in contentment and started pressing kisses along the side of my neck until she got to my ear. Then she sucked the lobe into her mouth and scrapped her teeth over it, making me dig my nails into her thigh through her pants.
“I’m trying to work,” I whined as she her hands slid over my hips and squeezed. “Anna, I’m serious.”
She laughed huskily in my ear before whispering. “Do you really want me to stop, baby? Because I don’t think you do.”
I regret every second I ever thought she was innocent. Well, either that or I turned her bad. Both options were incredibly attractive and I really didn’t want her to stop. I leaned my head back against her shoulder and let her do what she wanted with hopes that we wouldn’t be caught… again.
Well, I don’t think the first time necessarily counts. Ari and I were closing together last week when I ended up pinning her against the wall with one of her legs wrapped around my hip. Her top was off and I was leaving more than a couple marks across her skin when Noah came in to pick me up. Let’s just say I wasn’t a big fan of him seeing her topless, but I had to push that aside and take care of her because she was near panic attack. She had anxiety that made an appearance whenever she was the center of attention.
I focused back on Ari when I felt her hands sliding up my shirt, her fingers trailing over my bare stomach. That was my breaking point, her hands were so soft it drove me crazy. I turned around in her embrace and pressed our lips together. Her other hand gripped my butt and made me release a throaty moan against her mouth. I’d never been so vocal before her.
The kiss broke when she grinned and pulled away to look at me. Her lips were puffy and her face was flushed, the embodiment of sexy. “God, you’re so freakin’ gorgeous.”
“Shut up,” she groaned, leaning back away from me but leaving her hands on my body. “You’re gorgeous.”
“Shut up,” I mocked, leaning forward and kissing her lightly. “Did you have a reason for this or were you just feeling frisky?”
She scoffed and released me so she could cross her arms over her chest. “Why do I have to have a reason? Can’t I just want to kiss my girlfriend?”
I raised my brows and asked, “Oh, so I’m your girlfriend now? When did that happen?”
She clammed up and I instantly felt awful. I rubbed my thumb just under her ear and leaned my forehead against hers. When she didn’t respond, I took both sides of her face in my hands and tilted it up until she had no choice but to look at me.
“I’m an ass, the world’s biggest ass,” I said. “You are my girlfriend and I am your girlfriend. I was just trying to be funny and it flopped. We’ve talked about how the only thing I’m good at is saying the wrong thing.”
“I swear I’m trying to not be so sensitive, it’s just hard,” she sighed, allowing me to hold her as her spine lost its rigidity. “I know you’re not Delia, and I know I really care about you.”
Her confession made warmth blossom inside me. I loved hearing her say she cared about me and knew I wasn’t her ex. When she’d first dropped that bomb, it broke my heart for her. There was enough issues within the LGBTQ community, the issues between community members themselves made things worse. Her not trusting me because I was bi kind of made me sad for her as well as myself. If I was even bi, I wasn’t sure and I know I would probably feel the same way if our roles were reversed.
“I am so into you, Arianna Eleanor,” I swore, her soft eyes holding mine steadily. “I don’t know if I’m a lesbian or if I’m bi, but I do know I like you a lot.”
She nodded and brushed her nose against mine, making me smile. “Good, sometimes I need to hear that. I just need a little reassurance.”
“Jensen, Henry! Your tongues better be in your own mouths!” Hank, a guy we worked with, shouted as he entered the theater. “Gross, I think I’d rather see the two of you going at it than this.”
“We’re not here to fuel your spank bank,” I snapped at him, letting go of Ari so she could step back. “What do you want?”
“I was going to see if Ari would finish my shift for me. My kid’s in the hospital,” he said, instantly going from creep to normal. “I think she broke her arm.”
“Oh, no. I’ll totally cover for you,” she replied, turning her body to face him. “Tell Lilly I hope she feels better soon!”
Hank smiled and nodded to her. “I will, thanks.”
She hugged me once more before following Hank back out to the lobby. I picked up the broom and went back to doing my job. She was so nice sometimes, the two of us didn’t make sense. I wasn’t nice or friendly most of the time, but she was probably one of the most outgoing people I’ve ever met… when she was comfortable at least.
Ari’s Point of View
I got off at nine that night instead of six because I’d taken on the rest of Hank’s shift. Audrey and I made plans to meet at her place and watch movies together, but I went home long enough to shower and change into comfy clothes before going there for the night. My mom was pretty okay with that, I mean it wasn’t like I could get pregnant and I wasn’t going to get a STD or anything. We also weren’t having sex, but that wasn’t important.
I pulled into her driveway just behind her dad’s car and checked my hair in the mirror. It was the first time she was going to see me without makeup and I was a little nervous. I knew she wasn’t going to judge me or anything, but it was like losing my safety blanket.
Once I’d psyched myself up enough, I headed up to her door. I could hear her dad in the living room with the TV playing, and my anxiety amped up even more. The two of us hadn’t met yet, and I wasn’t even aware we were at that level yet. I honestly was under the influence that we’d be alone… I was wrong. I’d barely raised my hand to knock when the door was flung open by Audrey.
“Hi,” she said, grinning at me cheesily. “Come in!”
I followed her inside and heard the TV suddenly go silent. Then her father walked into the room where we were, smiling tiredly at us. I instantly saw the similarities between their smiles, even if his didn’t quite reach his eyes like Audrey’s did.
“I’m Ari,” I introduced, extending my hand to him. “It’s nice to meet you.”
He took my hand in his and shook it politely, but I could see that he seriously didn’t want to be here. “The pleasure’s all mine, Ari.”
Thankfully, the awkward encounter ended a couple seconds later and Audrey led the way upstairs to her room. Halfway there, her hand found mine and twined our fingers together affectionately. I felt a familiar smile pulling at my lips as I followed her into her room and she shut the door.
“Sorry, I didn’t tell you about my dad. He was supposed to be at the parish all night,” she told me, turning around and taking my other hand in hers. “You are so gorgeous, Jesus. I know I say that a lot, but I keep realizing it.”
My insides liquefied just like always when she complimented me, then I realized what she said before that. “Wait, did you just say parish? As in your father is a preacher?”
She dropped my hands and rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly, walking around the room nervously. “Oh, uh, yeah. I forgot to mention that, didn’t I?”
“Hey,” I said, halting her movements and holding her face in my hands. “Your dad could be freakin’ Jeffrey Dahmer and I would still be into you.”
I was being funny, but she froze in my hands and became distant within seconds. “Hey, what happened? Is everything okay?”
She nodded her head and leaned forward, kissing me instead of replying. As much as I wanted to keep talking, kissing her was kind of intoxicating. I slid my hand under her shirt to rest on the bare skin of her hip as her fingers tightened around my face seductively. She walked me backward until my knees hit the side of her bed and I fell back onto it clumsily, trapping my bottom lip between my teeth when I looked up at her with a flush dusting my cheeks.
“Are you just going to look at me or actually do something?” I challenged, swallowing my embarrassment.
She narrowed her eyes before crawling over my body, pushing my shirt up as she placed kisses along my stomach. We’d never done this, but I couldn’t figure out why not for the life of me. My breath was shaky as I ran my fingers through her hair, my head tossed back when her kisses reached the bottom of my bralette.
I pushed her back long enough to sit up and pull my t-shirt over my head, then I pulled her back down on top of me. We kissed fiercely, my hands under the back of her shirt and running over her skin delicately. But, before it could get too intense, I pulled my mouth away from hers and took her shirt off.
She smirked down at me and leaned in to kiss the side of my neck with her hands teasing my skin. Her kisses moved down and I leaned my head back, giving her more room. My fingers were busy twisting in her hair, trying to keep my noises as quiet as possible.
“You’re making it very hard to stay quiet,” I breathed out as she kissed just below my collarbone.
She laughed and it made a shiver course down my spine. “That must be hard, I know how loud you are.”
Her teasing did something to me and she knew it. Instead of answering her with words, I whined pathetically and arched into her. Her breathy laugh sounded again and irritated me a little, this wasn’t just going to be about her teasing me.
While she was distracted, I rolled her onto her back and pinned her hands on either side of her head. She licked her lips and drug her teeth across her bottom lip, making a moan escape my mouth as I pounced on her. She was wearing a black lace halter bra that looked way too good against her pale skin as I pressed kisses along her chest and cleavage. I made sure to leave a mark on her where only we’d see it.
I traced my tongue along the swell of her breast and she let out a mewling sound that dampened my panties. Things were going way too far, we needed to chill even if that was the last thing I wanted to do. I kissed back up to her neck and pressed a small one to her lips before rolling off her.
The only sound in the room was our breathing as we laid beside each other with our shoulders touching. Her fingers brushed against the back of mine before she turned onto her side to look at me. There was a bit of worry behind her eyes and I knew I had to explain what happened before she took it the complete wrong way.
“Hi,” I breathed, turning on my side to match her. “I do want to have sex, just not yet. If that’s what you’re worried about.”
She nodded and replied, “Yeah, I get that. I don’t want to move too fast with you and mess things up.”
“If you weren’t so freakin’ cute, it would be easier,” I sighed, leaning forward as a laugh left my mouth. “God, you’re so sexy it’s unfair.”
That made her laugh and push my shoulder until I looked back at her. “Shut up, I am not sexy at all. I’m butch as hell.”
I snorted and reached forward to hold her side, running my fingers over her skin. “I think you’re so sexy, butch or not. Jesus, I can’t even deal with it.”
She rolled me over and pinned my hands like I’d done with her earlier. “I can’t even start to tell you how much you turn me on, Anna.”
I arched my neck up and kissed her again, the kiss sweet instead of fierce. She released my hands and I draped my arms over her shoulders, my fingers playing leisurely with her hair. One of her hands cradled my head while the other skimmed up and down my ribs.
When we parted, she lazily said, “Mhm, we’d better watch those movies before things get out of hand.”
I made a noise of agreement and allowed her to move off of me. She tossed me my t-shirt as she went to turn on the movies. We cuddled up together on her bed, her head leaning against my chest as I reclined against her headboard and played with her hair absentmindedly.

Oh She Glows For Dinner + Pre-order Bonus Bundle!
Hi everyone! I hope that summer is treating you well so far, and you’re staying in good health and good spirits during what has been a heartbreaking year. How are you and your families doing right now?
At long last, I have some fun news to share with you today! This cookbook reveal was supposed to go out to you in May, then in June, and then in early July, but with everything going on in the world it just didn’t feel right, so I delayed it multiple times. I’m not sure it feels right even now, but I’ve had a lot of questions about the new book’s listing on various retailers online, so I knew I couldn’t delay any longer. I’m holding onto the hope that this news will bring a smile to your face and a bit of cheer. :)
If you haven’t guessed already, my new cookbook, Oh She Glows for Dinner: Nourishing Plant-Based Meals To Keep You Glowing, is finally complete and it comes out in a couple of short months! It’s been a wild ride to cross the finish line (never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be wrapping up a cookbook during a pandemic and lockdown), but after 3 years of working away on this project, I’m absolutely thrilled to let you know all the juicy (pun intended) deets about this new book. If you subscribe to my newsletter, you may have seen the sneak peek pop into your inbox yesterday!
Here’s a little behind-the-scenes from earlier this year when I was going over the book design!
Shifting from “behind-the-scenes” mode to “in-the-spotlight” mode doesn’t come easily for me (I’m much more of a behind-the-scenes kinda gal!), so this “launching into the world” part of the creation process is a big challenge for me on a personal level, and oh boy, the nerves I have right now are unreal. I’d be perfectly happy to work away diligently behind-the-scenes and never have to self-promote. ;) Do any of you relate? I’m always up for a good challenge, though, and getting to reconnect with you all is the icing on the vegan cake!
This book would not have been possible without your encouragement, patience, and support throughout the whole process! It also wouldn’t have been possible without my small-but-mighty team made up of Nicole and Eric. They are my rocks, my sanity savers, my reasons for inappropriate fits of laughter, my sounding boards, my reminders to drink more caffeine and breathe, and it goes on. My incredible, diligent group of recipe testers (a special shout out and thank you to Anna, Carin, Tana, Tammy, Laurie, Caroline, Danielle, Vanessa, Lynn, Audrey, Stephanie D., Anne, Kathy, Stephanie S., Andrea, Beth, Katie, Lindsay M., Bridget, Laura, Lindsay V., Erin, Heather, Suzanne, Adrienne, Stephanie M., Carolina, Kirsten, Lori, Marina, and Kristen) have tested, and tested, and tested these recipes right alongside me and shared the most helpful feedback. And last but not least, I have so much gratitude for the amazing teams at Penguin Random House Canada and Avery!
I held this book in my hands for the first time last week! I can’t even tell you how fast my heart was a-thumpin’ when I opened the box! It is always slightly terrifying and thrilling to open one of my books for the first time, and it really never gets any easier to send my heart and soul’s work off into the world. But I am so darn proud of this book. It’s my very first hardcover book, too!
About this book
Oh She Glows for Dinner is a reflection of what you, my dear readers, have asked me for the most over the years—more plant-based, crowd-pleasing dinner recipes!
Dinner is something I think most of us have struggled with (I know I sure have!), and when you throw “plant-based” into the mix it can be even trickier to figure out. If you’ve ever shrugged your shoulders over what to make for a vegan meal and resorted to toast or a bowl of cereal, you certainly aren’t alone. I knew I had to create this cookbook to help answer the ever-burning “what’s for [plant-based] dinner?” question. As an added benefit, the recipes in this book also make incredible (and often portable) lunches! You’ll also find the perfect, satisfying sides to add to your dish, meal-worthy salads for every season, hearty & healing soups and stews, and a bounty of flavour-poppin’ sauces, dressings, parmesans, and pestos that you can make to change up the flavour profile (or simply punch up your dish even more). And I threw in a delicious dessert/drink chapter, of course, because it wouldn’t be an Oh She Glows cookbook without some sweet, healthified treats! ;)
What you’ll find inside:
Dietary and Cooking Labels
Each recipe indicates whether it is nut-free, gluten-free, soy-free, grain-free and/or oil-free, raw/no bake or one pot. Out of 106 vegan recipes in this cookbook, 101 are gluten-free or have a gluten-free option, 90 are nut-free or have a nut-free option, and nearly all are soy-free. I also share whether the recipe is kid-friendly, freezer-friendly, and/or if any advance prep is needed. My “on the glow” label tells you whether the recipe is portable. My goal was to pack in as much helpful info as I could for you (dare I say this is my most informative book yet?)…you know me, go big or go home…lol.
Storage and Reheating Instructions
Almost all of the recipes in this cookbook also include specific storage and reheating instructions, customized to each recipe. My recipe testers and I spent so much time testing the recipes to take the guesswork out of them for you!
Active Time and Total Time
Each recipe tells you how much active time and total time will be required. Active time is the time you are actively preparing food in the kitchen. Total time reflects how long the recipe takes from start to finish. If applicable, we also share Soak time and/or Chill time.
Full-page colour photographs
I am so excited to share that I did the food photography and food styling for the recipes in this book – there are more than 100 of my photographs inside!
Glow Getter Meal Plans
This book includes 4 meal prep plans! Each time-saving plan provides step-by-step instructions, so you can prep or fully make 3 dinner recipes in just 60 to 90 minutes. I knew it was important to create plans that would actually work for a busy lifestyle. I’ve tried plans in the past that take 2.5 to 3 hours each week, and they just didn’t fit into my life. These plans don’t take long (60 to 90 minutes at a brisk pace) and they set you up with a few hearty meals each week!
Menus To Get Your Glow On
I also share my tried-and-true menus for special occasions or themed nights, such as Girls’ Night, Mother’s Day, Game Night, The Oh She Glows Cookbook Club Night, and more. If you have ever struggled with how to combine recipes for special meals, I really hope this will give you the inspo you need to simplify your planning. Don’t forget to check out our bonus bundle below as it includes 4 designed printable menus which correspond to menus found in the book!
Helpful Recipe Lists
My Helpful Recipe Lists index at the back of the book provides at-a-glance searching of recipes by allergy label or preference, so you can find all the gluten-free recipes grouped together in one spot, or all the kid-friendly, freezer-friendly, nut-free, one pot, and on the glow recipes.
My Pantry Staples, Kitchen Tools and Appliances
I’ve included a condensed list of the essential pantry items I keep on hand along with my favourite tools and appliances. If I have a preferred brand, I share those names with you, so you know exactly what I use in my own kitchen.
The Oh She Glows for Dinner Bonus Bundle is here!

This Oh She Glows for Dinner Bonus Bundle is definitely my favourite, most cheerful and creative pre-order bundle yet. All the *heart eye* emojis for this one.
The response to my pre-order bonus bundles for my previous two cookbooks was so enthusiastic, I knew I had to raise the bar and add in some exciting and unique new bonus features. This Oh She Glows for Dinner Bonus Bundle is definitely my favourite, most cheerful and creative pre-order bundle yet. All the *heart eye* emojis for this one. I had so much fun collaborating with local artist, Kayla Whitney, to create an adorable, custom Oh She Glows “Glow” downloadable art print for you to print and hang on your walls! This is my very first custom Oh She Glows print and it looks so bright and cheery on the wall. If you end up hanging the print in your house, we’d LOVE to see it! Simply tag it with #ohsheglowsfordinner on social media.
In addition to the “Glow” art print, you’ll receive 4 artfully designed Oh She Glows for Dinner menus to download and adorn your dinner table on special occasions. Super-handy Glow Getter Meal Plan printables from the new book will make prepping the plans even easier when your book arrives. It’s so convenient to print the meal plans and place them on your counter so you can cross things off as you work through the plan. Lastly, I couldn’t make you wait until October to get cooking, so I’ve included 4 advance recipes in this bundle—a few of my summer-friendly ones that we’ve been enjoying during this hot season!

Week-End Update: Back To The Grind
Well the holidays are over and, just as we had to adjust to regular work schedules again, we were hit with the nasty reminder that it’s winter.
We started the year off with 2, completely expected, foster failures when both Jingle & Ella’s families just couldn’t resist the charms of these sweet pups. Jingle has decided the holiday themed name was way too twee and changed his name to Shadow while Ella opted for a slight adjustment to call herself Stella.
Also adopted this week were Chandler, Charlie, Courtney (now Ellie), Deirdra, Peety & Sheba!

Speaking of Shadow FKA Jingle, his brother Jangle checked in with us as have a few other alumni:
Arthur FKA Jangle
“ Arthur (his new name) is doing great!! He is very playful and loving. He is also super smart! He is taking to his training way faster than any puppy I have ever had. We are ecstatic to have him as the newest member of our family and appreciate your help.”

“Miss Audrey (Irish) is looking pretty in pink! Happy New Year To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc. and thank you for all you do!”
        Lilly Michelle FKA Lily
Lilly
“In September 2013 I met and adopted my best friend. I saw her pic and profile on adoptapet.com and I knew the moment I saw her she was my dog. She dog gives me so much life. She’s sassy, feisty, adorable, and lovable. I’m grateful to TLC for introducing me to my puppy. She rescued my heart.
She was listed as Lilly and we kept that name. My baby Lilly Michelle ❤ ❤”

“My Stella has a personality that seems much like a Border Collie — I’m on a facebook page called BorderCollie Anonymous, and I see her personality in many of the postings there.  She could play ball all day long, and at Christmas, she knows she’s getting a gift and is more excited than the kids are to open and play with her new toys.  She also is quite demanding for affection – if you pet her and stop petting, she will place her paw onto you to indicate no, you are not done petting.  And sometimes she’ll force a pet by physically putting her head under your hand if you are not forthcoming.  I’m constantly amazed by her athleticism. “
“Rayne is very motherly and such a joy to have. I swear she understands us humans when we talk lol feel free to share the pictures as well. He she is sitting pretty after the groomer and the next is her watching my son’s karate class. Love her!”
We also have a picture of Sophie FKA Spirit

“Monica is adjusting very well and is a perfect fit for our family. We have changed her name and she is now Abby.
It’s been quite a busy few days but so much fun welcoming Abby into our family and figuring out our new routine. Abby has been to the groomer and the vet and spends most of her day in someone’s lap taking naps. I reviewed her microchip information when we came home and updated her account with her photo.
Thank you for all the hard work that you and TLC do each and everyday to save the lives of over 2,000 dogs! The process was simple but thorough and we are very fortunate to have Abby join our family. “
Here are some other photos we received this week:

A Quick Q&A with Daria Shapovalova
 By: Jessica Michault
Daria Shapovalova is one of the most driven, determined and dedicated women working in fashion today. She pretty much single handedly put Mercedes-Bens Kiev Fashion Days on the map. And has been a dynamo fashion plate ambassador for talented young designers who are coming out of Ukraine. Shapovalova is known for  attends fashion shows around the globe in one eye catching number after another from designers that most of the world hasn’t heard of…yet. Her endless energy, up beat attitude and her impressive drive rightly placed her on the Business of Fashion’s list of 500 people shaping fashion today.
Here she opens up about how she got the ball rolling with Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days, her big break (thank you Anna Wintour) and the motto she stole from Estee Lauder. How did you first get interested in fashion?
I always loved fashion, I think I was born with this love. But everything started with a book from my parent’s library. It was on the history of fashion from a cultural point of view. I read it and I felt in love with a notion of beauty which meets functionality.
What made you finally decide to launch out on your own and organize Kiev Fashion Week?
Me and my team founded Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days seven years ago, and since that time our fashion week has completely changed how the fashion industry works in Ukraine. Previously, designers were focused on private clients and local market, and now within their priorities – International sales and PR, development abroad.  We did an extremely successful showcases at the main exhibitions around the world – the recent project we staged was together with Pitti Super, More Dash: The Eye on East, when we brought 10 Eastern-European fashion designers to the relaunched exhibition space in Milan. Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days opened a new page for the fashion industry in Ukraine, set its standards and I am proud that I was a catalyst.
What was your big break?
When, thanks to Sarah Mower, Anna Wintour came to see and meet Ukrainian designers.
Who inspires you?
My friends, my son. Also among my muses are Françoise Hardy and Audrey Hepburn – in terms of style, first of all. Every successful person within my circle of friends or those I read about inspire me to work harder.
Who living or dead would you love to be able to have dinner with?
I am sure that I will meet with everyone who is alive and whom I want to meet, so among dead – Grace Kelly, Albert Einstein and Coco Chanel.
What is your favorite trip?
My next trip is always my favorite!
When are you happiest?
In the morning, when I start a new day. When I am about to embark on a new journey – I love to start something new.
What is the biggest challenge you are currently facing?
To do everything I want to do – properly an on time!
What is your secret talent?
I think people know too much about me. So all my talents are revealed. But I am sure that soon I will learn something new and I will be able to answer this question!
What is your motto or the best piece of advice you ever got?
It is from Estee Lauder: I never dreamed of success, I worked for it.
What emoji do you use the most?
Red heart as my love to people and my own life is endless. I am an absolute optimist and I am in love with whom I am, what I do and which people surround me! So my little red heart is spreading love to all my friends!
What is the latest Instagram feed you decided to follow?
The young, but extremely talented designer and artist @jahnk0y
