Mike is the best giant to have guarding you, even if he would totally forget about you if he put you in a pant pocket! 10/10 would let hold me
mcfries123, I couldn't agree more.
There needs to be more Mike appreciation in this household! Because he is by far the best of giants. Especially when he forgets about you in a pocket.

“Hypothetically...”
Scott jolts at the sound of Vincent’s voice, turning to see the purple man materializing out of the shadows, looking uncharacteristically somber as their eyes meet.
This can’t be good. “What the hell is he up to?”
Vincent’s eyebrows raise at the want to get straight to the point. And even though Scott wants to do nothing more than berate the purple man for continuously trying to give him a heart attack, hypotheticals are rarely used between them. Because there’s no such thing as a ‘hypothetical’ in their lives, simply warnings of what’s to come.
“Hypothetically,” Vincent repeats as he slowly walks closer. Sends the hair on the back of Scott’s neck standing straight. Not because it feels like he’s being hunted down despite being completely alone in a dark hallway at Fazbear’s Pizzeria with an admittedly dangerous man. No, it’s the slumped posture with hands in pockets and amber eyes watching him like he might disappear at any second that terrifies him. “Would you still love me if I was a worm?”
There is no stopping Scott sending a scathing glare at the taller. It falters when there’s not even a hint of a smirk, but there better be a damn good reason for asking such a ridiculous question like their lives depend on it. “Seriously, Vince?”
“Seriously,” the purple man murmurs gravely. Steps so close he’s almost staring directly down at Scott, making him feel much smaller than he really is despite only being two inches shorter.
Why is he surprised? Being told about his horrific death to come in the most convoluted way possible is just a normal Tuesday to him. “I wouldn’t step on you, but I can’t promise I wouldn’t make sure no one else did.”
Vincent hums. “I’m a little hurt, Scotty.”
“Like you wouldn’t immediately turn me into fish bait,” Scott scowls.
The smallest of smiles lifts the corner of Vincent’s mouth, disappearing so quickly it’s almost like it never happened. “Clearly our friendship means nothing to you. But, hypothetically, what if you turned into a worm.”
...no, that’s impossible. He can't just turn people into a worm. “Is this purely hypothetical?”
“The worm part, yes. The size part, though...”
He’s given a significant look that sends a chill down his spine. “I'm sorry, he’s just going to shrink me?”
“Randomly,” Vincent confirms without any trace of mirth in his voice. “And not just you. Wouldn’t want to perform his first field test on someone much more useful when they’re taller than five feet only to realize it can’t be reversed.”
Scott searches Vincent’s face for any sign that this is just to scare him, a test to make him reveal just how attached he has become to certain night guards, to see if he’ll go against the company just to save himself. There’s nothing except for a single sliver of fear in Vincent’s normally vacant eyes. Meaning this is real. As if the countless other experiments and the laundry list of responsibilities weren’t enough.
“Are you on the list?”
“Not at the moment.” The purple man raises an eyebrow. “Would you be willing to at least put me on a table if I promise not to use you as bait.”
And suddenly, Scott’s faced with the realization there is a very real threat of his best friend being able to accidentally crush him under his shoe without even realizing. For Scott to kill Vincent if he were to never notice his minuscule form on the floor, or mistaken him for an irate gnat. For someone to mistake him as an annoying insect because they wouldn’t know something like someone shrinking could be possible.
“What do you mean by random?” Scott breathes.
“As in,” Vincent begins solemnly. “Who would you trust even if they had absolutely no clue you were smaller than three inches tall.”
Mike watches something peer out from underneath a game cabinet.
He originally thought it was a bug when he first saw it. The skittish movements when it first thought about running away from the table didn’t help its case, especially as it kept ducking back under the tablecloth before he could get a good look at it.
But once it finally darted out into the open, he could see it wasn’t a bug. He’s dealt with too many different types to assume he just hadn’t managed to run into something that walks on two legs until now. And right before it disappeared from sight again, it had gotten close enough for him to make out hair and two arms moving in time with the desperate sprint.
Definitely not a bug. This was his first time encountering an action figure that can move on its own, though.
He was a bit curious. Not enough to leave his post by the restaurant doors, because the moment he does is the moment David cuts his shift covering for yet another absent day guard short and send him home after banning him from Fazbear Entertainment Center for a week. So instead he watched the shadows under the game cabinet every so often after checking to make sure no one who shouldn’t be in the building slipped by him.
Was rewarded with the tiny figure carefully leaning out of the shadows as it attempts to wave him down.
Mike is more than happy to give it attention considering all the hard work it put in to grab it. Even more so when he recognizes the flame of red hair, smirking with pride at how well Fritz managed to avoid having a parent scream or accidentally entice a hell spawn to grab him off the ground. Who knew the kid had it in him.
Oh shit, wait a minute. Irish Jigs aren’t supposed to be living action figures.
At the realization one of the assholes he’s in charge of either fucked with shit they weren’t supposed to, or something was fucking shit up with them, the need to help overrides making David happy. Besides, the animatronics at this restaurant can actually grab anyone causing a fuss. They’ll survive if he takes a small break.
With a glance around the room filled with screaming children, Mike makes his way over to the game cabinet being used for cover. Keeps a close eye on the miniscule form, a reassurance he sees the kid and is on the way to help. He also watches to see if the kid gets spooked and races off either further into the shadows or toward him.
Fritz doesn’t move a muscle. And when the guard is so close he needs to look almost directly down, there’s the telltale sign of blinding terror. But that’s what Mike’s for, to get the frozen figure somewhere safe until he can kick whoever’s ass needs to be kicked.
Any other circumstance, being so scared your limbs refuse to move would be a bad thing, because there’s nothing worse than being unable to anything, even if running away seems cowardly. Today, they luck out on this being the one time it won’t get them into more trouble than fleeing, because a frozen Fritz is easier to grab than any other one. Doesn’t move a single inch as he kneels down on the floor, not even as he reaches a hand up to get the kid off the ground.
The moment his fingers curl around the kid to scoop him up is the one instincts finally kick in and tiny limbs attempt to punch and kick their way to freedom. It’s too late to do any good though. He doesn’t know how it feels being small enough to loose a fight to a single finger, but he does know what it’s like to be the person with a substantial upper hand. And that is that Fritz is fragile.
Mike is careful, he went for a full grab instead of pinching the kid between his fingers for a reason, but there’s no missing the painful look no matter how small it is.
His eyes narrow as he pins Fritz before lifting his hand up. Raises an eyebrow when the desperate fighting decreases at the same time the miniscule heartbeat increases. Stares for a moment before deciding now will be a bad time to check for injuries. Not when a random kid or asshole of an animatronic can interrupt him.
Fuck, the animatronics. If they see him with a tiny Irish Jig, they’ll demand a turn claiming they’d be better at caring for one.
Like hell they would. And Mike was the one asked for help, not them. But how to hide it to avoid an argument.
He glances down at his uniform, smirking when he spots the chest pocket big enough to fit a card inside, meaning it’s perfect to hide a Fritz not even as tall as his finger. And to test it, he holds it open with his free hand as his occupied one gently rolls the kid until he’s lying in his curled fingers. From there it’s a careful drop into the pocket.
He hears a soft shriek, but as he looks down to check on his cargo, there’s no sign of pain, only a bit of terror. That’s a win in his book.
Offering a smirk, Mike gently pats his pocket to say the kid just needs to wait a little longer. To put words into action, he pushes himself off the floor before turning toward the hallway that leads to David’s office, keeping to the walls so a running hell spawn doesn’t barrel into him and give Fritz a jumpscare.
He makes it to an all too familiar door without incident, giving a knock as he opens it to reveal a suited man hunched over his desk.
“Hey, Douche Bag.”
That earns him a glare over the shoulder. “This is why I regret taking your offer on covering shifts as a day guard. Why are you bothering me?”
And that’s why Mike isn’t going to let David have his very own Pocket Fritz. It’s a privilege, not a right, and clearly their resident douche bag doesn’t deserve the honor.
“Irish Jig feels like shit,” he begins. “I’m taking his ass home.”
The business man hesitates before turning his chair to properly scold the dumbass trying to leave him two employees less than he was an hour ago. That’s Mike, he’s the dumbass. “What the hell did he do?”
Mike shrugs. “Don’t know, some hell spawn might’ve had something. Or someone fucked up the pizza and poisoned his ass.”
“Food poison. Say it properly so I don’t get another wonderful visit from a concerned parent’s lawyer,” David growls. “And I’m not dismissing either of you. As idiotic as it was for Scott to hire a doctor, he might as well be useful for once.”
Mike hums in thought at letting James help care for the tiny Fritz. The guard agrees on the doctor not being a necessity, but his help is appreciated every time it’s offered.
He glances down at his pocket for input. Meets wide green eyes before the miniscule head shakes vigorously. The kid has spoken, and that’s all he needs to shake his own head at David. “There’s no stitches for Snitches to sew. I’ll take him home so the poor bastard can die in goddamn peace.”
The business man goes silent for a moment, most likely deciding whether or not the fight would be worth it. Finally sighs long and hard as he waves a hand. “Why Scott hasn’t fired you I will never know. But fine, go. You just earned yourself a ban from my restaurant until further notice, and Fritz coming into work two hours early tomorrow unpaid.”
Mike gives a lazy sault to say he heard loud and clear. He then closes David’s door and makes his way to the front doors, glad to get off work a few hours earlier than expected. He doesn’t mind doing favors for the others, but damn do those day shifts love cutting into his sleeping hours, especially after particularly long nights. Thank fuck it’s Friday. After tonight’s shift he’ll have a full 24 hours to do shit all but sleep.
As tired as he is, though, he won’t be crashing until he and Fritz come up with a plan to make sure David doesn’t call James on them if the kid doesn’t show up for his shift tomorrow.
At the reminder of why he risked getting banned, he gently pokes the shivering ball huddled in his pocket. “You okay, asshole?”
The kid looks so damn adorable as tiny limbs flail in the attempt to stand up. It only gets better when Fritz finally manages to, only to stand too short to see over the lip. “I’m-m okay. Thanks Mike.”
“Anytime,” he smirks. “So did you fuck with shit, or did someone fuck with you?”
“I think the second one?” Fritz murmurs, almost too soft for him to hear. “I don’t really no what happened. I-I was going to the kitchen to run an order out, and then the ground exploded and I fell under a table tiny.”
Someone’s definitely fucking shit up with them. If he wanted to make a bet, he’d say it’s most likely William. Who else would shrink the poor kid without giving them a heads up. The son of a bitch is lucky Mike was able to find their Irish Jig before anyone else got their hands on him or else there would be hell to pay.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m tired as hell. We’ll head to my place, see if this shit has a timer, and if not I’ll teach you how to be a badass night guard. Sound good?”
Fritz nods his head. “Sounds good.”
Mike has a feeling the kid’s just glad to have someone around to protect him. That’s why the guard’s here, to keep him safe while he does whatever the hell he wants to. After getting checked over for injuries.
The rest of the walk is quiet. He checks on Fritz from time to time as the tiny figure learns the way of the pocket. He didn’t except it to be too much of a hassle, but apparently it’s a bit of a bitch to conquer. The minuscule flame of hair does finally appear after struggling for a good while to climb up to see the rest of the world. Then Mike ruins all the hard work by giving a poke to send the kid falling back into the pocket with a shriek.
By the time Fritz makes it to the top again, Mike’s unlocking the door to his apartment. Perfect timing to let him scoop the kid up to lift up to his face as he walks to the couch to sit down. Gives a smirk at the startled expression he can now properly see.
Without anymore distractions and no possibility of some asshole snatching Fritz away, he can finally make sure no bruises or broken bones made special appearances on this adventure. As long as the person he’s trying to check over lets him do his job, and Fritz curling into a ball as he shies away is a perfect example of that very problem.
“I-I’m okay, Mike!”
He raises an eyebrow. “When did that shit ever work for Jerber.”
Fritz winces. “Never...but I’m okay, really! Promise!”
“Don’t throw around that shit unless you mean it,” Mike warns as he nudges the kid’s side. Sees the brief look of pain before hands are attempting to bat him away. Despite how adorable it is, it’s not enough to distract him. “I know I’m a pain in the ass, but you’re hurt, and I need to make sure you’re not fucked up.”
Nervousness suddenly turns into fear as Fritz stares up at him. “But, but you’re...”
The quiet voice disappears as shivers start up. It takes a moment but he manages to figure out the terror’s being directed toward him. Mike leans back a bit to give the kid some space, watching the miniscule chest take a stuttering breath as the tense shoulders slump.
“Think I’ll fuck you up more?” he guesses.
“You’re so big,” Fritz admits, and then he’s being hit with puppy eyes as tiny arms gesture. “Your fingers are bigger than me! An-n-nd taller!”
Honestly, he didn’t think it’d be too much of an issue. Fritz is tiny enough to fit in his pocket, but that doesn’t change the fact Mike’s responsible for him. Will haul his ass out of the fire any day and then check to make sure he’s okay even if what his own fault for getting hurt.
Mike hums. “So you think I’d fuck you up more?”
Fritz hesitates. Thinks it over before slowly shaking his head. “N-No.”
Nothing else is said. Then the kid holds out his arm before turning his head away. The guard happily takes the permission to check the limb and delicately pinches it between his thumb and first finger. Feels the miniscule muscles tense as he carefully checks for any injuries.
With a hum declaring it’s clean as he frees it, the opposite arm is immediately given. Then the legs at which Fritz stopped shaking and watched Mike work with fascination.
Until he gets to the chest, the kid growing nervous again when he asks for the shirt to be lifted up. “I, um-m...I think it’s bruised.”
“Let me see.”
The puppy eyes don’t get Fritz anywhere. Finally the shirt’s lifted to reveal a dark bruise covering the kid’s chest. Mike looks it over before slowly placing his thumb over the ribcage, careful not to put any pressure.
“Hurt like hell?” he asks when there’s no flinch.
“Not anymore.”
“How about your back?”
Fritz’s brow crinkles in thought. “I don’t think so, it’s just sore.”
That’s enough for Mike to gingerly pinch Fritz’s entire torso between two fingers. Watch for any grimaces or winces as he checks for broken bones. He finds nothing. Thank fuck.
“Alright asshole, you’re good,” the guard proclaims as he pulls his hand away. “Was I a shit or mediocre Stiches?”
“A good one,” Fritz grins. A grin that Mike takes as confirmation he’s finally allowed to get some sleep.
Yawning as his hand forms a fist around the kid, he ignores the yelps in order to turn and lie completely on the couch. Once he’s settled Fritz is then set down on his chest beside the pocket he hid in earlier, just in case it’s wanted again.
“M-Mike?”
The worried call earns a hair ruffle Mike had been wanting to give ever since finding the shrunken bastard. Smirks unashamedly down at the tiny pout. “I’m going to take a nap. Do whatever the hell you want. Just yell if you need me.”
“Oh! Um, okay.”
With one arm tucked behind his head to act as a pillow, the other puts his security ballcap over his eyes to block out the sunlight before settling on his stomach. Just like that, he’s out like a light.
Fritz doesn’t wake him up once with a yell for help. A few times unintentionally at the feeling of tiny footsteps walking across him, the most prominent one when Fritz decides to join his napping by crawling under his hand to curl up underneath his fingers. The only time he woke up completely to check on the kid was when the barely noticeable figure suddenly became too big to use his hand as shelter to keep out the afternoon light.
As Mike lifts his hat to check on the kid still sleeping the day away despite having grown a full five feet two inches within seconds, he admittedly fells a little disappointed a pocket Fritz wouldn’t be joining him for work. A normal sized one might enjoy night guard training a little more, though. Be able to actually switch the cameras and punch the door button instead of just have to watch.
At least David will be happy Fritz won’t be late to work. But Scott won’t be when Mike tells him about their eventful morning.
That’s for later, though. He’ll tell his mentor tomorrow.
Except he forgets to. Forgets about Fritz shrinking in the middle of his shift completely. Only remembers when he spots something trying to escape from the quicksand that is pop-up poppers behind the glass of the prize counter. A certain mechanic who isn’t supposed to only be worth ten tickets.
Well shit.

warnings: polyamorous relationship, and titans ??, reader is kinda innocent ?? like just easily wound up
also this is going to be SO fucking long and focused on hange for the first long bit sorry !
Tumblr media
btw this isnt rlly dating headcanons so much as backstory, how you met, and shit leading up to actually getting together i went so fucking overboard and went the complete opposite way of what you asked ill do a part two with ACTUAL dating headcanons if youd like anon just tell me and ill do it
- i think you wouldve worked for garrison originally
- in season one when hange started the experiments on sawney and bean thats when you would've met them
- you had been a big fan of their research studies for a while, so being in front of someone you thought was so cool was a little nerve wracking
- you had just became newly appointed as a captain for a garrison squad, being one of the youngest recruits to get the position, which also meant some people thought you couldnt handle the job
- you were good at telling others what to do, and guiding them when needed, you took over the leader role very quickly, you had to if you wanted to keep the position
- although you thought you were a good leader, others didnt
- specifically older members of garrison who thought because you were so young, youd be naive
- and since you were a garrison captain, you worked closely with hange and moblit during their experiments
- any request they made for supplies or anything, went through you and youd get it for them
- they needed more help ? youre requesting three soldiers to the experimentation zone immediately. anything they needed you helped with, because you liked helping
- hange had quickly grown fond of you, they were so thankful that you were so willingly to have your squad help them. you remember the brunette grabbing your hand and saying "thank you for your dedication to this project and to science !" while bowing multiple times
- as unsanitary and childish as it was,,, you didnt wash that hand for a day
- hange saw how some members of your squad treated you, and it may have irked them a bit
- causing them to rant to moblit while writing down research data
- "hange." "i just dont get it, why dont they say anything ? theyre so nice so why dont people respect them like they should-" "hange !" "what ?!" "youre writing down captain l/n's name on your page !" "so what ?!- wait what" this causes a night of bickering between the two of them 😐🤚
- when sawney and bean died hange was devastated. you had grown to like the section commander as a friend and respected them greatly, so to see their hardwork and research all go down the drain was hard
- you immediately went into leader mode and started ordering your squad around "listen up ! i want this whole perimeter checked and searched for any evidence to help us find out who did this." a couple members groaned, and one man, who was in his early thirties made a comment about it. "theyre just stupid fucking titans. we're supposed to kill them, not keep them alive for some freak to experiment on them."
- yknow,, looking back on it maybe you shouldnt have went off on them the way you did, but you did because not only was the man questioning your authority and orders, he was blatantly disrespecting a section commander. "i am your captain. i am your leader. you will respect me, and you will listen to me. you either do i say or youll be suspended and taken off my squad immediately. and that goes for everyone ! do i make myself clear ?" you shouted. the man who had talked back raised his eyebrows, youd never once yelled or demanded things be done in a manner like this, and it clearly shocked him when you stood up for yourself.
- a bunch of murmurs came from your squad and you dismissed them, but not before stepping in front of your soldier in front of everyone. "between you and me ? you should be discharged for not only your blatant disrespect and defiance to me for months now, but also for your innapropriate and degrading comments about section commander hange. you wanna pull some shit like this in the future, not just to me but to anybody ? you should kiss your position in garrison squad goodbye, since youre too childish to keep your thoughts and opinions to yourself. now grow the fuck up and go do what ive asked please." the man looked scared as he stared at you, no one had seen you act like this before, his jaw clenched as he nodded and walked off, the rest of your squad dispersing with him
- you didnt notice hange calling your name until you felt their hand on your shoulder. you turned around and saw their sympathetic gaze on you. "thank you for defending me. are you okay ?"
- you rubbed the back of your neck and answered. "honestly ? i feel kind of bad, like i embarassed him or something." the survey corps leader tilted their head back as they laughed. "youre so kind y/n, but im proud of you." the comment, although lighthearted, struck a cord with you
- a couple days later you were requested to meet with not only the section commander but commander smith, as well as your superior, dot pixis
- the meeting only lasted about thirty minutes, but hange had boasted about not only your leadership skills but also your knowledge and ideas on various sciences. erwin decided to offer you a position to work under hange, and dot pixis agreed to have you transferred to the survey corps if you agreed.
- did your decision have to do with your crush on hange ? maybe. would you ever admit it ? no.
- pixis explained to you that youd be honorably disharged from the garrison regiment before being moved to the scouts' headquarters in trost
- you surprisingly got along well with others there. working in hanges squad was fun, and even though you were demoted from a captain back to a cadet you didnt mind
- hange had offered to share as much knowledge as they could with you, which led you to be in their office (as messy as it was) after work hours
- and thats where you met mike
- well, got to know him
- hange introduced you two when you first joined and the first thing the section commander did was NOT shake the hand you held out for him but to lean down and sniff around your hair and neck
- your face felt hot as you stuttered over your words, thrown off by his,,, unique, greeting
- hange and laughed and lightly pushed him away, before explaining to you that thats just what mike did
- back to being in hanges office
- for nights on end youd stay up together in their office, two chairs huddled beside one another while you read through books of research, not just from hange but from published scientists and anthropologists too
- mike had started joining you two only three days after you and hange started
- he would stay quiet, but would sit next to hange making them be sandwiched by the two of you
- after that you started to notice him more often
- down the halls he'd send you a small smile, which you brightly returned
- sometimes he'd be in charge of training that day, and he would wordlessly help you position your arms to properly block or punch when sparring with other members
- then he started bringing tea when he would come and listen to you and hange discuss different theories, articles and information together
- you didnt even know the two were dating until you accidentally walked in on them in hange's office
- they werent doing anything dirty, just giving each other a kiss, but you had walked in on them with a stack of papers captain levi told you to give to hange.
- you kinda,, stood there, slackjawed, while the two pulled apart slowly to look at you. hange had a mischievous grin on their face while mike just gave you a blank stare
- you dropped the papers. the stack of documents levi tasked you to give to hange. you dropped them. How Embarassing.
- your face began to feel hot not just from seeing them but also because youre embarassing yourself by dropping the papers and just standing there like an IDIOT
- "uh,,, i- captain levi said to give you those documents you requested." your voice cracked at the end making you wince
- "you mean the documents that are spread out on my floor now ?" hange asked. you looked between them and the floor, then at mike, then back to the floor than back at hange. "yes." you said, and you could feel that warmth in your face spreading to your ears now too. "im sorry." you exclaimed, your voice sounding strained as you quickly walked backwords and closed the door in front of you
- you started avoiding hange and mike after that, and became hyper aware of everything that they did. they were TAUNTING YOU 🙄 you could feel it
- instead of small smiles in the halls, after you started ducking your head down when you saw mike, he would now give you head pats when you crossed him
- hange would let their hand linger on your shoulder or side as they shuffled past you during meetings or experiments, and would come closer than usual when handing you documents
- mike would give you teasing smiles when you got your ass handed to you during sparring
- and finally you were fed up ! did this count as workplace harassment ? you didnt know but you wanted answers ! so you went to the source, hange's room after dinner
- you didnt bother knocking, you just walked in with your eyes closed
- hange giggled, "what are you doing y/n ?" "making sure im not walking into something i shouldnt be seeing, section commander." "by that do you mean the kiss mike and i shared ?" "yes." "well we're not kissing right now." they said, and you peaked one eye open to be sure they werent lying, and they werent !
mike stood up from his chair and slowly made his way past you, closing the door. you took a deep breath before throwing all of your word vomit on blond and brunette duo. "so i dont know why you guys think teasing me like this is fun, but it isnt. it makes me flustered and nervous and feel weird and im not sure if it counts as abuse of power but i dont like it so it needs to stop." you huffed in a big breath of air after saying all of that, and hange rested their head in their hands.
"y/n do you have a crush on me ?" they asked. their voice was soft but they still had that stupid smile on their face. you could feel your face getting warmer by the second. your mouth opened and closed but no words came out.
" i uh, im gonna leave now." you turned around but hit something hard, and looked up at mike looking down on you, a smirk on his face. he put his hands on your shoulders and turned you back around to hange, walking the two of you over to their desk. he gave you a slight push, causing you to put your hands on the desk and lean on it, while mike kept his hands on you to keep you from running.
hange leaned into you, your noses barely touching. "i only ask because, mike and i have grown very fond of you." they said. you nodded a little bit, the tips of your noses brushing against each other.
"yeah well, id be a little sad if my superiors didnt like me, that would be kind of bad." you replied.
"can i kiss you ?" they asked.
and now is when your brain really stops functioning. thoughts fill your mind of mike and his relationship to hange. are they actually together or is it a friends with benefits kind of thing ?
"i uh, i cant kiss you." you replied, a bit breathlessly caused by both section commanders.
"why not y/n ?"
"well i'm not a cheater, or a homewrecker. i mean i assume that you and mike are together so, im not going to kiss someone in a relationship." you stammered out. this was making you very nervous, butterflies errupting in your stomach. you knew they were just teasing you, goofing around to make you flustered, but a part of you hoped youd be able to kiss hange, and maybe mike for that matter.
they chuckled a bit, before their brown eyes looking behind you to mike's towering form. "honey, can you tell y/n its okay if they kiss me ?" they asked. mike let out a small laugh through his nose before leaning down.
"only if y/n promises to give me a kiss afterwards." he whispered. he pressed a faint kiss to your temple, and you shivered from the contact. he was warm, very warm, and even though it was such a small amount of contact it did so many things to you.
you gulped before bringing your eyes back to hange. you looked to their eyes, and then to their lips, and continued that pattern silently in hopes theyd understand. you didnt want to be teased anymore ! you wanted something to happen.
hange got the hint and smirked, before leaning in again and lightly brushing her lips against yours. theirs were soft compared to mikes chapped ones, and the kiss was so slow, so innocent, it had you leaning in for more. it was a slow, lazy kiss, a kiss to test the waters, it helped calm your nerves, but also made your nerved explode with heat.
finally the researched pulled away, and put their hands on your cheeks, squishing them to pucker your lips, before giving a kiss to your forehead, nose and lips one last time. they let go with a soft smile on their face, and a blush of their own.
you could feel mike press his body down against yours, making your knees buckle slightly. he took his right hand off your shoulder to place it on hange's cheek, thumbing over the red pigmentation. he then turned your head up and to the side, before giving you a kiss of his own. this one was a bit more dominating, hard. his chapped lips scratched against your own but you didnt mind. in a weird way it made you feel at ease, having him take control of it, the same way hange did but his was just more, needy.
he pulled back with a shaky breath and looked at you before looking at hange. "so y/n," hange began. they stood up and made their way around the table, mike pulling himself and you up straight so hange could sit on the edge, pulling you in to stand between their legs. being sandwiched in between mike and hange made you so aware of them, and even though you were very new to something like this you felt weirdly safe and secure. "mike and i genuinely care about you, and we want to be with you the way that we're with each other. would you like that ?"
honestly, how could you say no ?

Backfire | iii: Morning > On FF.Net and AO3
Fandom: Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan Pairing: Levi/Mikasa Ackerman | RivaMika Genres: General/Romance Universe: Canon divergent AU Warning/Notes: in which I overshare Status: In-progress Summary: To destroy the evidences, they must join the Survey Corps and bond with Humanity’s Strongest.
Levi wakes up earlier than usual, the rising sun outside begins lightening the dark atmosphere of the room and rouses him from sleep. Slowly, he sits up and glances around the room covered in penumbra, trying to see if Furlan is awake, but it seems that everyone is still asleep. He is quiet as he climbs down from the top bunker and grabs his new set of clothes, his uniform, and heads out the room, trekking his way to the communal showers to start his day. Torches are still lit in the hallways, illuminating the path he needs to take, passing by closed door after closed door of shared rooms.
He is quick to shower, making use of the empty bathroom as it gives him a renewed sense of privacy after spending only a day surrounded by so many people and sharing a bedroom with other three. It is not as if back in the underground they had a room for each, and it was fine sharing a bedroom with Furlan, but too much people in one space was deeply unsettling. Levi is a man that enjoys being alone, and if there is someone else with him, he enjoys it when it is quiet. It is easy to hide in the slums from wandering eyes and gossiping mouths, but here in the headquarters there are too many soldiers that are much too curious and not so subtle.
Running a towel through his hair to dry the excess water, he changes into the clothes he was given and throws the damp cotton piece over his shoulder before leaving the bathroom. The corridors are still and quiet at the crack of dawn with him being the only one wandering about. Maybe if given the opportunity, they can use this time of the day to search Erwin’s office; he keeps the thought stored in a corner of his mind so he can tell it to his friends later when they start planning their course of action, and for the moment being, lets his feet carry him out through one of the many doors of the structure as he tries to find the hanging line he saw on the previous day when he and Furlan were doing their first rounds to know the terrain.
He halts as he turns around the corner, the line just within his sight, but the scene behind it is too captivating. The sun is peeking over the line of the horizon, its light stretching across the grass still beaded with dew, making it shimmer and sparkle under the ever-changing sky. Dark blue gives way to colorful hues, painting the clouds lilac, pink and orange, contrasting beautifully with the dark green pine trees in the distance. He holds his breath for a moment, glad and only dimly aware that he is alone in a time like this, and works to hang his towel on the line without ever looking away from the first sunrise he ever witnessed in his life.
After a moment or two admiring the view, complete with the early riser birds soaring the skies, he inhales deeply through his nose and squares his shoulder, turning around to return to the castle. He resists the urge to look back before he turns around the same bend as before and goes up the few stone steps, letting the cooler air inside make the hairs of his arm stand on end. It is as if he is in a completely different world out there, even when compared to the inside of the castle. The sunrise filled his body with something that he could not quite place and he wondered, in the back of his mind, if his mother would have liked seeing it, too.
Levi slows down to a stop behind the ajar door that leads to the mess hall, feeling another presence on the other side. Quiet as a rat, he pushes it open a little further and peeks inside, clear eyes searching the empty room, and just as they were drawn to her that night, his gaze is pulled in her direction as if by a magnetic force, finding her sitting by one of the windows and eyes darting across a file in her hand.
“Levi.” He mentally curses for letting himself be caught and steps further into the hall, knowing that there is no point in pretending he was never there in the first place. “Activities only start in forty minutes.”
His usually silent footsteps seem to echo among the walls that surround them and he nearly flinches at the sound. “You’re up this early as well.”
“True.” Her lips curl in a ghost of a smile, and he lets his eyes wander over the notepad and pencil to her right, and the teapot and cup made of china set before her. “The difference is that I pulled an all-nighter.” His eyes shoot up to her face taking in the slight shadows under her eyes, shadows that were not there the day before; the silver specs in her irises are dull and that is all he gathers before they disappear behind thin eyelids. “There is one more cup in the sink. Help yourself.”
With a nod, he steps away from her and wanders into the kitchen that smells like burning logs and spices. He washes the cup for good measure, looks around the place suspiciously as if the document can be hidden in a jar of sugar or coffee, and then returns to the hall before she notices he has been gone for too long, quietly claiming the seat across from hers. She reaches for the teapot and pours him some tea, steam wafting up from the amber liquid to his face and bringing the earthy smell of the drink to his nose. He holds the cup by the rim, blows into it and takes a sip, letting the bitter taste spread around his tongue and mouth before swallowing.
Ackerman is just finished refilling her own cup when she speaks. “It’s black tea,” she provides, “you’ll get used to it after a while.” Her finger hooks around the handle and brings the china up to her lips.
Levi has to look away when they purse to blow air to cool it down, feeling a spark of irritation at himself. He has been with women before, but it is bordering the lines of ridiculous how his body seems to react to her and she does nothing out of the ordinary to have his eyes linger on her mouth or her neck securely hidden away by the scarf. If he had not seen her that night, if he had picked someone else to rob, he is sure he would not find himself gravitating towards her.
He has more self-control than this.
“Thanks for not selling the jewels.” She returns the cup to the tabletop after taking a sip, eyes back on the document in her grasp. “They were borrowed.” Her gaze flickers up to him for a moment, “We would be in trouble if you had gotten rid of them.”
He clicks his tongue against his teeth, crossing his arms and resting them on the wood between them. “Should have sold them, then, just to spite you, brat.” She gives him a withering look and he glances out the window to his right. “How long have you been part of the Survey Corps?”
“Seven years.” He counts it in his head, coming to the conclusion that she is twenty three years old. Just four years younger than him, three years younger than Furlan and five years older than Isabel. She is actually young and he is surprised to know someone survived this long in this branch of the military; he decides to disclose this thought to her.
“That’s a pretty damn long time.”
She breathes out a short laugh and flips the page. “Yes, it is. Mike says I’m too stubborn to die.”
“Oh?” Levi makes to drink his tea again but finds that the cup is empty. “Are you?”
Her hand lightly pushes the teapot in his direction in silent permission and she speaks without looking at him. “Very. I had to be actually moved to Captain Erwin’s team for about two years so I could be disciplined.”
His eyes zero on her calm expression, now getting truly interested on the topic. Perhaps approaching her can become a way to get the document they need. “Is that so?”
“Yes, I had a tendency to disobey orders.” Her dark eyes find his blue ones and hold him immobile. “I’d advise you to do what you’re told.”
With a nod, he takes one last sip of his drink and makes to stand. “I don’t take orders well, Ackerman.”
She lightly shakes her head at the lack of title and at his statement, but says something else instead. “You don’t have to leave, breakfast will be served soon.” She eyes the teapot next, “You can drink the rest if you want, and I had tea all night long to keep me awake for another twenty four hours.”
Levi slowly sinks back down on the bench and accepts her proposal. He drinks as he lets his gaze roam over the scenery outside, watches stray leaves being carried away by the wind and the blades of grass dancing to the same rhythm. After a while the sound of pencil on paper fills his ears as she scribbles down on her notepad, sometimes accompanied by the rustle of the document as she flips page after page looking for certain details. The cup is warm on his hands, heating his palms as they wrap around the china. He looks down at it, recalling the one cup he bought long ago and the handle snapped in his hand.
He refilled her cup one last time, nodding at the small smile of thanks she shot in his direction and trying to stamp the reactions sparking inside him. The door of the mess hall opened and in came the cadets on kitchen duty that morning, hands falling away from sleepy eyes and hunched backs straightening as they shifted their body towards the superior presented and saluted. Ackerman looks up at them and nods, eyes soft but lips neutral, and returns to her paperwork as they shuffle inside the kitchen, shooting glances in his direction specifically.
The door closes behind them when she speaks. “They’ll get used to your presence eventually.” She assures as she places the pencil down by her notepad and shifts in her seat. “Give it time.”
“I’m not bothered by it.” The look she gives him clearly says that she doubts his words, but none of them says anything afterwards.
A pair of voices he knows very well approach the room then, pushing the wooden door open. “Ah, here you are.” Isabel says as she stifles a yawn, and when her gaze falls on the woman sitting across from her friend, she scrambles into a salute. “M-Morning, Captain Ackerman!”
Furlan manages to give her a more polished and collected salute as he smiles pleasantly at her. “Good morning, captain.”
“Good morning, Magnolia, Church.” She gathers her things together and stands up, pinching her eyebrows minimally as her bones pop back into place.
As she reaches for her teacup, his hand appears in her line of vision, blocking her path. “We’ll take care of it.” He says nonchalantly, not looking her in the face.
Her brows shoot up briefly. “Alright,” her hand falls to her side and she takes a step back from the table. “Breakfast should be ready soon.” These are her parting words. With a nod to each, she walks unhurriedly to the door and leaves it ajar as she steps into the hallway and out of sight.
Hearing the noises coming from the kitchen, Furlan only shoots him a suggestive look as he plops down beside him, but a mild glare from Levi is enough for him to back down. Isabel saunters over to the other side of the table and slides onto the bench. “Ah, I can’t wait for our first expedition!”
“Isabel–”
“I know why we’re here,” she hisses, cutting him off, and crosses her arms across her chest and turns her head away. “It doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it.”
Their friend leans forward and speaks in an attempt to distract her. “Why do you want to go out so much?”
There is a glimmer in her eyes as she speaks, “Aside from seeing the world outside, of course, the girls in my room were talking about her last night.” That makes Furlan perk up and he leans in a little closer. “They said she’s amazing, so fast you don’t see her coming until she’s leaving.”
“Wow...”
“It’s impossible for someone to be that good.”
Isabel pins him with a sour look, “Why do you have to be so boring sometimes?”
“That’s part of the package,” Church explains with a chuckle and they both start talking about what it would be like to go beyond the walls for the first time.
Shortly after, the mess hall started filling with cadets. The sound rose drastically in volume and with it, whatever good mood Levi had been maintaining that morning was gone in the blink of an eye. Soldier after soldier filed inside the room, occupying whatever vacant spaces they could find. Still, none of them dared approach their table or even claim the many seats available there.
Breakfast is a bland oatmeal porridge and more bread. They knew the food would not be better than it was in the underground, but at least they have the chance of eating more times a day without worrying that it will run out and the view of the sky makes up for it. He thinks back to the sunrise he saw that morning, to the caress of the sunlight on his face, and makes a mental note of waking up early everyday so he will not miss it.
Levi sees her there again, this time sitting with her team, ever calm and quiet as they talk loudly and laugh together. He takes a bite out of his bread and forces his gaze to focus elsewhere.
