this catches tabitha off guard more than few other things could—eden is clearly putting in effort to get on tabitha's good side. if it were any man in eden's place, tabitha wouldn't be nearly as open. she's well aware of having been used for her family's supposed fortune before.

yet, she sees eden and her heart races, hands fidgeting and perspiring. she carelessly wipes them off on the coat of her jacket, never the dainty, polite type in her mannerisms. she can't imagine eden is anything like anyone around here—in a good way, that is.
